Very funny show about Western TV/entertainment. The series is very far from the Russian audience and will be understandable only to those few who are aware of the events and seriously interested in Western (mainly American) TV, theaters, show business and culture, as well as those who work in this field. Otherwise, almost all the humor of the series will be incomprehensible and alien to the viewer. In addition, no one was engaged in a full-fledged translation of the show into Russian (and there is no sense, because many jokes are untranslatable), so watch only in the original.
The main characters - Billy and Julie are trying to find their dream job in the field of TV / media / entertainment and find happiness in New York. And this is not a fairy tale where the heroes are given an incredible chance of 1 in a million, and they succeed. No, it's the opposite. Each series of characters go to interviews or auditions, where they face incredible idiocy on the part of employers and the field itself. Heroes begin to protest against this madness, and they can not suppress the “I” and their creative personality, so every time they fail and miserably, but very spectacularly and ridiculously fly out of a new job. Journalists / writers / actors, I think all these situations will be very familiar.
The series is like an outsider among the stream of mainstream TV series with huge budgets and cast – as well as the main characters living amid the madness of the TV/entertainment sphere and the huge New York.
All the characters are very bright and memorable, and the main characters are very sharp and accurate jokes about actors, celebrities and everything around them, for which they are called “Difficult People”. By the way, the series was visited by many celebrities as guests - Debbie Harry, Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Williams, Julianne Moore, Tina Fey and many, many others! And the fact that the executive producer of the show is Amy Poehler already says a lot.
