An informant with sad eyes... What is the difference between a thief and a police officer?
- I can't see it!
Serge Leroy’s films have always been distinguished by their human cruelty. Suffice it to recall such his works as “Trafficking”, “Passengers” or even the seemingly harmless film “Attention, children watch”. According to the style of his painting, you can only compare it with the works of another French director Yves Boisse. But here Serge Leroy has somewhat retreated from his constant rolled-up scheme. As a result, this purely police film with a melodramatic bias, stands somewhat apart in his work and is more similar to the acclaimed Bob Swam Polisier “Informant” released a year earlier. Where also in the center of the plot were two strong men standing on opposite sides of the law and one beautiful woman.
Remember, a woman can only keep one secret that she doesn’t know!
I must say in the picture a rather good script, which was based on the book of the same name by Roger Bornish. The author of many popular crime novels, from whose pen came such famous films as “Police Story” with Alain Delon and “Rene the Cane” with Gerard Depardieu. A former experienced police inspector who repeatedly participated in the capture of especially dangerous criminals, Bornish was familiar with the criminal world firsthand, knowing it well from the inside. That is why the images turned out so bright and believable, saturated with many small reliable details. Yes, and the cast here is quite attractive, only young Otay and Lermitt are worth what. Although the actress Pascal Rocard struck me the most in acting, her huge sad eyes are simply impossible to forget. It was a true revelation of this film.
At 17, I came to Paris. What could I be here, Corsican boy, policeman or thief?
In the center of the plot are two men and one beautiful woman. One of them, Dominic, a handsome bandit, dresses up in expensive suits, drives a Porsche and lives in a luxurious two-tier apartment. Another Bertrand, an ordinary cop, a shirt guy, walks in sneakers and jeans, lives in a small room and prefers a motorcycle. By chance, fate brings them together with a beautiful clean girl Sylvia, who came from the province to conquer Paris. And all would be well, but Dominic is associated with a dangerous criminal Malagione, who the police brigade has been hunting for years. The girl is not indifferent to Bertrand, through her trying to get to the elusive gang. Sylvia loves Dominic, and he, bound by a gangster code of honor, cannot be torn between an old friendship and his girlfriend. But their love is destructive, and this in turn inevitably leads to a tragic outcome.
Living on the run is always very expensive!
The picture more than enough of all that was inherent in the 80s tapes of this genre. Murders, chases, shootouts, robberies, surveillance and raids. Of particular note is the dashing final scene of a motorcycle chase through the streets of Paris and the armed robbery of a plane, which reminded me of the movie Target: 500 Million. But there are also sentimental moments, well flavored with the beautiful touching soundtrack of French composer Michel Manj. He wrote music for many famous films, including the favorite of our audience “Fantomas” and “Angelica”. Of the actors, Michelle Bon was remembered as Commissioner of Police Legoff. And also Bernard-Pierre Donnadier, always playing villains. We remember him for the role of the inspector who shot Belmondo’s hero in the finale of The Professional.
