Undoubtedly, this picture is recommended for viewing to all fans of Ronaldo. Despite the abundance of negative reviews, the film is worth watching and worth drawing your own conclusions. At least the creators of the picture refrained from imposing their opinion, which cannot but rejoice.
From the very beginning, we are launched into the holy of holies, personal space, home and family of a celebrity. Despite the fact that Ronaldo is used to the abundance of cameras, not everyone will dare to let the film crew to such a close distance. We see the usual everyday life of a footballer, exhausting coaching, endless flights, tears of joy and bitterness of defeats. The genuine emotions of a person who has put his whole life to achieve a result, a brilliant result, which made it what it is.
In the film we saw how important the role of family in the life of a footballer, and how family can support in the most exciting moments. We saw Ronaldo not only as a successful footballer whose career has become a significant part of football history, but also as a caring father. Behind the crazy success of Ronaldo is a great work, a life in a frenzied rhythm, for which the weak will not have enough. He lives as he deserves and there can be no condemnation. To fully appreciate the story of the footballer will only help viewing in the original voiceover, because intonation plays a huge role.
We were shown pictures of Ronaldo’s brightest heads, his happy smile, in which pride for the work done, the passion of his life. Perhaps it is better to remove only after the death of a celebrity.
One of the first frames of the film are moments from 2009 to 2012 from Zurich. Messi 4th time becomes the best in the world. “Why go back there every year if I lose and look at Lionel?”
Cristiano’s philosophy is simple: “I am the best.” He is often criticized for this, but this is the recipe for his success. He's hated for being like that. He was the best of the best.
He left his hometown at the age of 12 to become Great. In this film, we are shown that Cristiano has come a long way to achieve the incredible, to become what he is now. Family is the main reason why he reached such heights. The beautiful Mama, who always supports him, suffers in important matches. A beloved son who delights him makes him stronger. The brother who handles Cristiano's business. Jorge Mendes is Ronaldo's agent who has known him for over 10 years, becoming a member of the family over the years, supporting him in every event.
Spain, Madrid, a gorgeous house, luxury cars. He has everything. But why be humble, if you have sacrificed your whole life something, why not get something in return?
It may seem that Ronaldo’s favorite activity is to bathe in his own glory, idolizing himself, everyone around him, to show and tell everyone who is here. Maybe. But is it possible to criticize him because he deserves it? He is bathed in his own glory, which he earned with honest work, sweat and blood.
“Among myths and legends, there are many stories of great duelists. When two great representatives of a generation meet in battle. There are two people on the field. In no other era would these two players have been equal. Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. El Clasico. Every day we compare the two players. Why? They're both the best. But they're the best because of each other. They respect and respect each other. And that’s what they want to tell us in the film. Messi is constantly interested in how Ronaldo is doing, asking how his son and mother are doing. This relationship should be with professionals. A great demonstration of the relationship takes place every time in Zurich, at the Golden Ball. A beautiful shot was shown, Cristiano points to the youngest son at the man and asks - "Who is that guy in a suit at the counter?", and there of course Lionel is standing, smiling and later comes to hug and kiss his son Cristiano. Such a relationship brings only a smile and respect.
Yes, the film shows how narcissistic Cristiano boasts of his victories, titles. And we'll never know how the partners really feel about Ronaldo. Of course, they won’t complain about anything, just because everyone wants to win trophies and it’s easier to win them with Cristiano than without him. But one thing is worth mentioning - as Jose Mourinho, one of the best football coaches of our time, said - "that superstars win a lot of games, but some lose too." Cristiano - yes, he ruined several matches without giving the ball, but he won them immeasurably. All the stories about “I’m the best” made him one of the best. That’s part of him and his motivation. It is foolish to say “I am the best” and lie on the couch, and to do it as a motto and plow – normal.
Ronaldo has one global human flaw that has made him a football legend. This is the kind of movie you should watch.
The film shows sports interest, struggle, titanic efforts, rejection of the idea that someone can be better than himself, and most importantly, an obsession with his own physical form, because Messi is younger than the best footballer in the world, until January, by 2 years. Enjoy the viewing, everyone! And don't forget we're watching football history re-write!

“The most important thing is friends and family, without them I would not be Cristiano Ronaldo.”
The film about one of the best football players of our time personally disappointed me. The emphasis was placed on the family and close friends of Cristiano, their warm relationship with their mother Maria Dolores is well shown. Probably, the way she cares about her son, taking every defeat to heart, and supporting Cristiano, you can understand why Ronaldo managed to become not just a successful footballer, but a special, the best in the world. “Calm down, it's just a game. Don’t worry, everything will be fine, he reassures her after the defeat in the opening match of the 2014 World Cup against Germany, when her mother is more worried after a crushing loss than Ronaldo himself.
In his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., he is shown to be a caring father. Son Cristiano was born in 2010 and adds colors to the picture, make smile their home scenes with his father and meeting with Leo Messi at the ceremony of the Golden Ball.
Episodes related directly to his football life left an unimpressive impression. The film is not shot by chronology: his moments from Real Madrid suddenly replace his first steps in Sporting. The meaning of this is not very clear, it would be much more logical to start from childhood and end with victories for Real Madrid and the last Ballon d’Or.
Almost nothing is said about the English stage at Manchester United. Meanwhile, the mentor of the English club Sir Alex Ferguson became for Ronaldo almost a father and helped him become a star, the footballer himself often speaks warmly about him. In the film, Ronaldo never mentions him. For some reason, it is not said that Cristiano Ronaldo won his first Champions League in Manchester United, but the dramatic final against Chelsea in Moscow, where Cristiano, by the way, did not implement a penalty, the directors decided to omit – and in vain. But about the career in “Real” – unreasonably much. The 2014 World Cup, where Portugal and Ronaldo failed for some reason, decided to show in colors. And where then no less significant home for the Portuguese Euro 2004, in which they lost in the final, and young Ronaldo cried right on the pitch? Everything turned out confused and crumpled. If you do not know the details of Ronaldo’s career, then the ordinary viewer can easily get confused.
The film doesn’t look complete at all. If they decided to show his life off the field, where are Cristiano’s sisters, who are not his family? To urgently remove Irina Shayk from the picture is also, in my opinion, not the best solution. Yes, in some places the picture looks funny and inspiring, but about such a bright and extraordinary figure as Cristiano Ronaldo, it was possible to make the film much better.
In my opinion, the film failed. It was not possible to reveal the identity of the legendary Ronaldo. The myth of his narcissism, selfishness and other “dignities” attributed to the press has not been dispelled (and this, I understand, was one of the main ideas of the film).
All the behind-the-scenes comments from CR7, long-worn phrases from any of his decent interviews that we've already heard 100 times. There is no history of its formation, development. All the difficulties, sufferings and experiences of the times of Sporting and earlier are voiced only in a voice-over. Adolescence is shown by 2 chronicle cuts, periodically recurring.
The relationship with the family, from my point of view, is not well shown. It seems that he has the whole family dependent, and he is their benefactor, who does not mind reminding about it and telling the world how good he is (well, if Dolores is clear, so it should be, then with his brother is quite another matter). There are no words about the sisters at all, as if they were not part of a large family. All of Cristiano’s dialogues with his son, his mother and especially the exchange of pleasantries at the table after the Classico are playful and unconvincing. After a couple of shots, he with Cristiano Jr., begins to muddle with ostentatiousness and eternal "kiss dad." It is the exact opposite of the desired impression.
The attempt to show Kriro as a hermit – a hard worker also failed miserably. Everything is interrupted in the middle of a word, in the very beginning of an idea.
It was ridiculous with the emergency cutting of everything related to Shake. And they were together for 5 years. It is exactly the 5 years that are mainly shown in the film. I understand that the film is not about her and Ira is not part of the family, well, it was painfully absurd.
From an artistic point of view and aesthetic pleasure, there are hardly five successful scenes in the whole film. There's nothing to cling to. The picture is boring, raw and monotonous. There are many examples of how a documentary and biographical film can be made interesting (a great example is Michael Jackson: That's it). And then the director just made something out of it. It's made for "tup-tup-and-done." I was very much waiting for the film, but in addition to the fact that I was disappointed by the tape itself, there was also an unpleasant residue from Cristiano Ronaldo. Before the movie, my opinion was better.
Total failure. It seems that the film was shot by Ronaldo himself for home viewing with his family under the label “I’m cool”. He's cool, he's a footballer, he's not a movie. The movie is not about his whole life or career, but about his very specific triumph, the last two or three years, an unsuccessful performance at the World Cup in Brazil due to injury (he says he should not have gone), then a jerk and the Golden Ball in winter. If the award went to Messi again, the film wouldn’t come out, I’m pretty sure. All the time that the shooting took place, he met with Shake, meanwhile, after the release of the film, she is mentioned once, clipped - and everything immediately seems even less objective. It's all a bit of an order. They show his family and all the fans shout “Look how good he is, how he cares about everyone, we didn’t know!” How come you didn't know? For me, his relationship with his mother or father was never a secret, it was written about everywhere. They wrote exactly as shown in the movie. Some kind of half-story about a boy from a poor family who broke into the stars - this is no surprise to anyone, most footballers are just like that. But it is clear that the village of the girl is not: his mother is still the same farmer from Madeira, and yes, I do not like her. It is not shown to be bad or good, maybe even honestly, but very one-sided. Where's the part about Manchester, where's the whole sport? A slurred, incomplete cut, but much more led him to the third Ballon d'Or. Will they make a normal movie after their career? Well, it wouldn't have been better. I liked only the moment about the confrontation with Messi and how the second communicates with his son Ronaldo before the ceremony.

The movie I was waiting for before it was even planned. I always wanted to know how the best (one of the best) players live, and not just one of the best footballers or even athletes, but people!
It’s amazingly hard to be the best, and it’s even harder to stay on top your entire career. And it is very correct that Messi does better than him, and he is Messi. There were no such confrontations in the history of football. There was always one best. And then there are two of them and we were lucky to live in the era of Messi and Ronaldo and watch their space game. Not only on the field, but also off the field - we see this confrontation every day looking at ads for soda or shampoo, Nike or Adidas, etc. I am sure that the film does not fully reflect the whole life of Ronaldo and not only personal, but also sports (so such an assessment), but the revelation with which he tells about his family, not only positive moments, but also negative - it causes respect for this man, not everyone will be able to say how he really has.
I think this film will convey those feelings, show the way when he left as a boy and became a star - to young guys and they will absorb the best of what Ronaldo has, namely the love of family and dedication to a cause that he has been dedicated professionally since he was 12 years old. And there is nothing terrible in the fact that he strives to be the best, such is the nature of man, and especially men and few people can argue with it looking at what this aspiration has come out of.
I hope that in the future, when Messi and Ronaldo retire, they will make a film with both players and it will be called, for example, the Age of Confrontation!
And this man is big, isn't he?
- More than you?
- No, more in size, but Dad is stronger than him. You didn't know that?
Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is a person who shows how to work on yourself, how to set priorities, what you should always strive for.
The film reveals more of a piece of the legend’s personal life that few people knew about than the one we all see and hear every day. Shows the personality not only as a superstar of the world scale, but also as a son who is ready to do everything for the sake of family and matter, as a brother who does not give up his hands, as a father who gives all love to his son, and, an important part, as a son who did not feel fatherly pride for him.
I'm going to be a goalkeeper. Okay, Dad?
- No, I don't want that.
- But I want to.
- Goalkeeper? Are you kidding me or what?
This film, like nowhere else, reveals the reason why Ronaldo is who he is today. Only working on yourself, only unrestrained faith in what you do is the key to success. The film shows footage from the family archive, tells details from the past of all family members. A separate part of the film is the relationship between father and son: you can see what kind of person he is and how he loves Cristiano Jr. The most important part is the mother of Cristiano, like all mothers, she always supports her son, besides, the film shows the emotions and joy for the success of her son.
If I didn’t know you, I would ask for your autograph.
Cristiano's agent, Jorge Mendes, is shown in the film as a good businessman, but also as a man who believed in Ronaldo, as a family member and friend.
Who's the guy in the suit? Who is this?
- This is Messi.
As a result, all football fans and personally Cristiano fans will like the film. Very interesting, the main quality documentary about one of the greatest athletes of the planet.
