This series I came across several times in the collections, and the abstract intrigued me. So I immediately turned on the first series. In general, I like it when the narrative is not stretched with a long introduction, but immediately begins the movement, events that follow each other. I won’t talk too much and will highlight the main pros and cons of the series.
Pros:
1. Game with genres. Here, the thriller, the detective, and the drama, with which genres change, complement each other. All this is necessary to complete the picture. The viewer is really interested in watching all the vicissitudes that are happening on the screen.
2. Plot. It's not trivial, although in some places it's a bit predictable. But only in places. I had no idea where the show would take us, it was really interesting to watch the actions of the characters, their ups and downs. Again, successive genres: thriller, drama - only heat up interest.
3. Actors. Michelle Dockery is a find. Bright, memorable, amazing actress. The role of Letty was perfect. It's really nice to look at. Her chemistry with Javier was very interesting to watch. These characters turned out to be alive and boring, although in Javier’s face, it was difficult to read at least one emotion, but I think his character thought so: verbose, secretive, without emotional.
4. Music. It's just amazingly matched. Modern, memorable.
Now let’s get to the bottom:
1. Season 2. I can’t say it’s a failure, but I think season 1 ended as it should. What the authors did in the second season was a nightmare. Logic? No, you haven't. In the first season, there were also jambs and plot holes. But you can still forgive that. In the second, the authors went into all seriousness and decided to make the characters so unbearable and stupid that it seems that the entire evolution of the characters from the first season did not exist at all. Of course, you can argue that this is life and we all make mistakes, but then why was it necessary to evolve characters? Why should they show their positive qualities, if their negative ones more than cancel out all the good they have? What did the writers want to say about season 2? I don't understand.
2. Many twists are associated with the main characters. They do what they want, live what they want, and get away with it. They don't pay for anything. Almost. So what's the point? They never got anywhere. As a result, it turned out some kind of soap opera with elements of a detective and thriller. One might argue that they should not have realized anything. But then why bring this up? First, the authors lead us to the fact that Letty begins to realize everything, and then her awareness and guilt fades. Why would a whole series lead us to something that will never happen?
The series left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, you want to sympathize with the heroes, and on the other hand, they irritate you incredibly. Because you can be stupid, go with the flow and do whatever your soul wants, there will always be someone who will pull you out of the swamp. It seems normal, but you can’t live like this forever. There must be some awareness. I may think boringly, but in movies, the audience usually wants to look at the characters that we involuntarily associate with. Somewhere we understand the hero, empathize with him even if he is a serial killer (Dexter & #39, for example). In the same project, the creators were so wise that they did not understand what emotions the main character causes. Is it sick of her antics of the viewer, does the character who is mired in some unknown quagmire cause any positive emotions, from which she cannot get out? The authors did not answer these questions. After all, the main thing is to twist the plot, and then it does not matter.
In any case, 2 seasons are enough.
In general, if you have a couple of free days, then this series can brighten up your cold autumn days. The main thing is not to take seriously everything you see on the screen.
7.10
I liked the first season of the series 'Good Behavior' with Michelle Dockery in the title role, in my opinion, Michelle perfectly suited to the role of a skilled thief Letty Raines, on the outside of which you can not say that she is a skilled thief and can easily steal from your pocket any thing or enter your hotel rooms and steal your money from the safe.
The end of the first season of the series showed us that it is still possible to correct and that it is worth fighting for your own son, and that it is also possible to meet a person who can help you to correct yourself and get on the right path, although this person is not a saint himself.
This man for Letty was Javier (performed by Juan Diego Botto), while Javier himself is not without sin, he is a hired killer, but for Letty he is ready to go to great lengths. Between Javier and Letty there is a great chemistry and relationship, although at times it could be said that they do not fit together, but the struggle for peace and freedom unites them. Javier decided to take up Letty's mind, he tried to protect her from her past sins and missteps, and she has a whole set of drugs, alcoholism, promiscuous sexual relations, and even in addition, custody deprived her son, and her environment does not like her very much, even relations with her mother strained. But all this made us understand that the desire for kindness, the desire for justice generates in a person the desire to change himself and his environment, as soon as you begin to change yourself, your environment will begin to change and you will be treated very differently, and you will not be an outcast for everyone.
The second season of the series showed us the relationship between Letty and Javier, the relationship between Letty and her mother (played by Lucia Strus), the relationship between Letty and her son Jacob, I also want to highlight the relationship between Letty and Christian, who was almost the only one who did not turn away from her, and on top of that, was also assigned to FBI agent Rhonda (played by Anne Dowd).
What is the main motive and meaning of the film? Love? Forgiveness? Family? Hope ... hope for correction and redemption? I think that all this together is the motive of this series, which was perfectly shot and presented everyone with charismatic and unforgettable characters and a good plot, and food for thought.
Children's adventure film with etiquette "criminal drama".
The beginning was promising, as if it were an adult series like Breaking Bad. Then it turned out to be still “for teenagers”, despite the presence of quite frank bed scenes. Very implausible adventure stories, the main characters, which the creators of the series for some reason necessarily justify before the viewer, i.e., for example, the hero is necessarily a “killer, but he kills only bad” and he also has a childhood mental trauma and problems in relations with his father, i.e. he is ultimately positive through, such Robin Hood from killerdom, interest in him instantly fades, becomes boring. The heroine is so unconvincing that a rather strong image, which she sets at the beginning, very quickly dims and blurs, in the future she does not develop and does not reveal, on the contrary, simplifies. Well, this is Tracy Whitney these days. Only here “If Tomorrow Comes” is initially an entertaining film without claims to psychologicalism and, so to speak, embodied artistic fiction, then in HP I see a claim to realism, which, however, is further completely leveled under the onslaught of the imagination of the authors. The secondary characters are too comical, perhaps, only a couple of “mother-young husband” remains at the same time interesting and dramatic, they personally occupy me and their relationship more than the fantastic adventures of Letty and her Robin Hood. In general, there is practically nothing left from the social and criminal drama ("practically, because there is still Letty's mother, thanks to whom the plot at least somehow breathes and the image of the main character looks a little more voluminous), and otherwise so, a light fairy tale about good people who are not "themselves, life is like this." I don’t like this, I love adult movies, and for the most part I can’t take it seriously. In my opinion, if you want both crime, drama, and filigree psychology in the study of people and human relationships, and at the same time humor and plots from the lives of fraudsters, it would be optimal to watch Better Call Saul. And it will be the right choice if you want an impressive acting, not manipulative stories about the “difficult childhood of the killer”, replacing the true depth of the plot and characters. Weak three sabju from me.
The series has a pretty high rating, so I had some expectations about it.
In fact, it turned out that this is another variation on the theme of Cinderella, which occurs in the cinema, alas, too often. Most of all, the plot reminded me of ladies’ love novels of the 90s.
Well, look for yourself, the main character is not a professional fraudster, she is just a downed drug addict with a lot of problems (empty place = Cinderella). Having learned to clean rooms in hotels, she accidentally learns about the impending murder and seems to manage to prevent it, as she thinks. Further events reveal to us in full that the heroine is not distinguished by intelligence and ingenuity, as a result, she is subordinate to the killer, but in combination with her lover and a rich handsome man. Does it sound like anything?
Michelle Dockery from Downton Abbey plays the main role here, her work did not make a strong impression on me, only an eternally cold-arrogant look was remembered, even in this role she transferred the arrogant manners of the English Countess, although the character does not have this in mind. The rest of the actors did not remember any bright moments and did not cause sympathetic emotions.
In general, another sour cranberry for bored viewers.
We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive.
He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love.
Martin Luther King
We're all human beings. We all lie, we all refuse help, we all want the best for ourselves, we all neglect someone, we all sincerely think that someone owes us something or that we need to be forgiven for something. But we all have the ability to change. For better or worse, time, will and character will show.
At first, the main character seems to be a destructive and weak character (weak in the sense of weak-willed). She is almost completely dependent and, apparently, always depended on her environment, which has a pernicious effect on her - prison, drug addiction, alcoholism, promiscuity in sexual relations, carelessness ... In short, a complete set. Letty had to end badly. Say, die of an overdose, from cirrhosis of the liver, from an accidental bullet, commit suicide in the end. Poor Letty is being stripped of her family. Although the family is not eager to take her back.
But chance decides everything. She witnesses a conspiracy to murder a woman. And it turned out that the drug-stealer has some moral principles and wants to save someone. Here begins the smooth arc of the heroine’s development – sinking ever lower to the bottom thanks to her own lack of will and public censure, she gets into someone else’s history and discovers a philanthropic trait in herself. She likes to help people. Now from self-destruction it passes to something creative, to something bright.
No, she's still gonna have to clean up old shit to get on with people. She doesn't become an angel, and she doesn't have to. Now culture is increasingly popularizing central images with two poles - a bad trait and a good trait. There are no superheroes in reality. There are ordinary people who are determined by environment and choice. And when a person makes his choice, only then he lives his life, adjusting the environment for himself, and not vice versa.
Letty makes the wrong choice first. She is on a beaten path leading nowhere. Because it's easier because she doesn't know what else to do anymore because no one needs to. And in the darkest moment of despair, opportunity arises. For the opportunity there is a man who became “light in the dark realm” for her – Javier. By the way, his integration into the life and soul of the heroine is very correct, well shown on the screen - he breaks into the motel room, in which she sits almost naked, drugged, hopeless. But this man somehow decides to take up her mind. Couple, in fact, turned out to be quite the same. But I won't go into details here.
If the first half of the series is more like a roguish novel with an admixture of a thriller, the second through with dramatic motives. A significant part of the plot is occupied by the Letty family and the problems that arise there with her appearance. She is a leper to everyone she loves or loves. It is perceived through the prism of its past, which is difficult to deal with. But everything begins to change – first in it, then and around. Evil is only within us, that is, where it can be removed. In general, I want to say that the series well reveals the characters of the main characters - they are not at all what they seem or want to appear. In all we see a soul, a kindness, a desire for justice, despite the past, misdeeds and obvious shortcomings. Only such a vision can give birth to love. Through acceptance and forgiveness.
Forgiveness Perhaps this is one of the key themes of the series . Is it possible to forgive the pain? For indifference? For the past? For heroes, to forgive is to choose the best way, alleviating both your own torment and the torment of another.
I’d like to write some details, but I’m afraid it would contain spoilers. But I think that's fine.
Drama series are now in demand. After the closure of monsters of the level of “Breaking Bad” and soured by the end of “Dexter” for a long time looking for something similarly unconventional and uncompromising. “Good behavior”, despite the seemingly simple plot, catches an unusual frankness and dynamics.
From the main character (Dockery) can not take your eyes off as good. Predatory and vulnerable at the same time, the actress absolutely acts out every emotion. Confused in her own life, daring and inventive - she is the main nerve of each series. Against the background of it, the partner, in my opinion, is somewhat blurred, but quite at the level.
Heroes fight each other, then unite to fight together with the world. Screenwriters now and then pull unexpected cards from the deck, not letting you get bored. As the plot unfolds, the characters open up from the human side, and it is impossible not to sympathize with them.
The series is definitely of high quality. Well-developed characters, excellent directing, excellent actors, even the second plan. For me, the most valuable thing was the combination of credibility and unpredictability.
I think this series has a great chance of winning all sorts of awards. He really deserves it.
I confess, not even sorry for the time to write a review after watching 4 episodes of the series, but I really want to save a person who fell into a sophisticated trap.
The center of the storyline, dynamic, unpredictable, unique, holding in constant nervous tension, was the English actress and singer Michelle Dockery, the direct opposite of her heroine, who played in the recently sensational series. Downton Abbey and Argentine actor, brutal Juan Diego Botto as a hitman.
The series is broadcast on the American cable channel TNT from November 15, 2016 to January 11, 2017 and is based on a series of novels by American writer Blake Crouch about the adventures of Letty Dobesh.
The main character seems to be trying to take the right path, but her bad character, the sins of the past force her to step on the same rake. When she is transformed, hides her permitted inner world under the mask of pretense and beautiful life, she sins again.
But I won't go on. I’m looking forward to the next series, which I hope will not be fun. But the viewer, who has not seen any series, will receive his portion of adrenaline.
