Everyone’s life can change in an instant. And at this point it is important what to focus on and how to feel.
The example of the main character delights that instead of giving up and falling into a deep depression, she decides to enjoy life even at the last moment. Going on her last vacation, she radiates such positive energy and happiness that it attracts people to her. They don’t even know what’s going on in their hearts. It thus sets an example in the fact that you should not spoil the mood with other complaints about life, when you can give joy and radiate positive.
Another unique line of relationships can be traced to a man who has strong feelings for her. Only such feelings can prompt a person to go after a loved one, without even understanding her actions, and despite a terrible diagnosis, remain true to his feelings, showing devotion. His proposal said that he was a reliable and loyal person who would never leave in trouble and would be there for him no matter what happened. True love is characterized by the fact that it is patient and kind, does not act selfishly, endures everything, never loses hope, endures everything steadfastly. Love never goes away.
When the last vacation becomes the best in your life!
The film is about when a terrible diagnosis becomes a powerful incentive to change your life by 180 degrees. Do what you want and do what you could only dream of before. Of course, a terrible diagnosis (even if it is wrong) often sounds like a sentence, but in the case of the main character, it also became the starting point and helped her become the mistress of her life and enjoy every day she lived. The film also tells one of the truisms – having a lot of money is not a guarantee of a happy life. On the contrary, money creates competition, pretense, dependence on other powerful people who mean nothing in your life. For them, we waste our friends, our family, and ourselves, and one day we may end up with a bottle of champagne on the windowsill.
As King Solomon said, “Nothing is better for a man than eating and drinking and enjoying one’s work.”
I liked the film because it tells about the love of life, the desire for family happiness and beloved business.
The film is very light, positive and very beautiful.
It is amazing how sometimes one event can dramatically change your life and completely change your priorities, which happened to the main character of this film.
Most people on our big planet live their lives like Georgia Byrd, we hurt ourselves every day in something, do not do what we really want to fear someone’s opinion or consequences of imperfect actions, thereby as if putting off their lives for later, put it on pause and wait for the very day when I begin to live as I want, when the same life begins.
God, this is so familiar. We work at a job that does not bring us pleasure, sometimes tolerate people who are unpleasant to us, we are afraid to confess our feelings to the object of our sympathies, we limit ourselves in something and deny ourselves some pleasant little things. In general, without realizing it, we deprive ourselves of the very opportunity to live our lives as we want and deserve.
I really liked the movie Last Holiday. After watching this film personally, I had a surge of positive emotions and motivation to somehow revise my priorities for life and to some extent, albeit small, but try to change something in my life, take risks and just see what happens. As you know, life is one, and it is very fleeting.
Last Vacation was created in 2006 and directed by Wayne Wang. This art film tells about a turning point in the life of Georgia Bird, a seller of kitchen utensils, who completely changed her worldview and life values. For many years she did the same thing, not giving herself a chance to achieve what she wanted. She only dreamed of something bigger, putting it all in the so-called "book of possibilities." But one day she was informed of a fatal illness that left her only a few weeks to live. This forced the heroine to take all her money and go on the Last Vacation, which turned the “book of opportunities” into a “book of reality”.
This comedy did not leave me without vivid impressions. Having watched it, I have determined for myself a very important thing: it is necessary to appreciate every moment of life, and not to waste precious time on constant dreams, doing nothing to realize them. In general, the film was very instructive and evokes a warm atmosphere of the New Year holidays.
If you pay attention to the title of the film, I want to note that it is very well selected. Georgia goes on vacation, considering it the last, thanks to the doctor's conclusions. There she learns new views on life, finds new hobbies, fulfills old desires, however, turns her life into what she always dreamed of. After all this, she began to “live for the moment”, as if every day was a holiday. This was her last vacation, as it never ended.
It is worth highlighting the acting: the actors managed to convey the feelings of the characters, their character, manner and temperament; the viewer can immediately distinguish between the protagonists and antagonists, even if they put on a “mask” and pretend to be someone else.
Summing up, I emphasize that the main idea touched in this picture, and to this day is relevant. This problem will be studied more than one generation after us, but still, everyone must learn the ability to value their time. You don’t have to spend every day doing things you don’t like and don’t bear any fruit. Be brave and make your dreams come true! Just do it!
I only have time for one reality, or from aunt to queen.
Warm, philosophical, romantic New Year melodrama. One of the best motivational films that reminds us of the value and transience of life, the importance of going our own way, human dignity, opportunities and their realization, and the right of every person to be themselves.
In general, the plot is not new. An ordinary woman, slightly over 30, working as an ordinary clerk, learns that she has only 3 weeks to live, and rethinks her whole life in a new way.
And here I have a question: why is it possible to appreciate life and yourself only when you have very little to live? Why can’t we appreciate it from the very beginning, every day, without this “super-fatal disease”? It is obvious, of course, that we do not appreciate what: 1) we got by ourselves, and not by hard effort, 2) we have, as it seems to us, in abundance, or perhaps even in abundance, 3) we do not always and do not like everything. Then why do we begin to appreciate the same thing when they try to take it away?
I would venture that because then there is a sense of possession. They take away mine, something that belongs only to me. Plus, there is a feeling of greed – I haven’t played this toy yet and I haven’t passed all the levels. Plus, the effect of “if someone else needs it, then it is probably valuable” – the effect of missed opportunities.
So why not just admit that yes, it’s valuable to me. My life is valuable and important. I admit it. And I take care of her as a loving and caring host. The owner of his life, who, on the one hand, is fully responsible for it, and on the other, is free to dispose of it as he pleases.
But for some reason it looks different. And the masters of their lives are anyone but themselves: first parents, then teachers, then bosses, grandmothers at the entrance, mythical “normal people”, who in fact no one has seen, but everyone talks about them all the time. I wonder how you can delegate the right to own your own life to someone you have never seen in your life. This is happening all the time.
I wondered what would happen to the world, to humanity, if all the people on earth suddenly took the right to their lives. Well, the fact that they will become very inconvenient to manage, it is understandable, and already worn, not interesting. But if we assume that it is possible... At first, there will probably be chaos. And then, apparently, the most interesting thing will begin – what is called a conscious life. At the level of humanity. Cool!
Perhaps people will begin to value their lives, not allow anyone to control it and impose other people’s standards and needs. They will begin to take advantage of the opportunities that life offers them to a much greater extent than they do now. A new set of values and priorities will be established.
I really hope that the frustrating evaluation will decrease significantly, and there will be more space for true self-realization. And success will not be measured by the millions in the accounts, but by the amount of happiness of each individual. It's a completely different world, with a whole new value system.
It is also necessary to issue a certificate to children with a passport for the right to manage their own lives. Maybe I should have done it earlier.
And the film “Last Vacation” gave us, I think, a brilliant recipe for self-realization and happiness. When a person “doesn’t care” what happens next, they start doing very right things and saying very right and true words. That seems to be the kind of incompetence everyone is talking about. And fear of the consequences of actions as a controlling ego, like the eye of Sauron, prevents us from turning our possibilities into reality.
We save money for a rainy day and turn a whole life into gray everyday life. We put off our desires until better times, and in doing so, we make today an endless rehearsal for a spectacle that will never happen to us, because the “best times” are what we are laying today. If we do not take the first step today, we will not reach our dreams tomorrow.
The illusion of procrastination taught from early childhood is the power of fear. Fear of error. But it's okay to be wrong. Thus, we gain and accumulate experience. And everything falls into place if we stop demanding to be perfect. We are alive and therefore not perfect. As the movie says, “Nobody is perfect.” Only death is perfect, and the corpse has no individuality. But while we are alive, we make mistakes, analyze and move on.
So I want to end with a quote from the movie “Last Vacation”: “It does not matter how to start, the main thing is how to finish.”
Comedy with elements of melodrama ' The Last Vacation', which appeared on the screens in 2006, became adapted to the modernity of the British picture of the same name in 1950 with Alec Guinness in the title role (for those who do not know, he was the first who embodied the image of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the cult si-fi franchise 'Star Wars'). And now everyone would say that the creators of the remake listened to the voice of the public, standing for equality and tolerance. After all, in the American version ' Last Vacation' the place of the main character was taken by Queen Latifah - a woman of African American descent. But in 2006, there was no total struggle, so we can safely say that Latifah deserved the main role due to her talent, as well as her unique charisma and a ton of charm.
So her name is Georgia Bird. She is not much of a remarkable woman ' slightly for 30', unmarried, works in an unenviable job, although she is the best employee, however, the boss with the intellect and habits of a degenerate prefers not to notice this. Georgia has two favorite activities - she loves cooking and experimenting with cooking, and also hosts an impromptu album titled ' Opportunities' where a special place is given to the object of her romantic dreams - Sean Matthews (LL Cool J). And suddenly, Georgia is struck by unexpected nightmare news - she is diagnosed with a rare and dangerous disease. Georgia, in her own way, decides not to fall into despair, and finally commits a few actions, which long ago dreamed of, and goes on a trip. This journey will change her life forever. And we'll all know that Georgia Bird deserved it!
Queen Latifah, as already mentioned above, deserved to be appointed to this role by her immediate talent, and also in it there is ' highlight' - she is unlike the other actresses ' model appearance' who now have to talk about trouble 'harassment'. But the charm that the actress and singer possess always attracts attention. Yes, she had rash roles, for example, in another remake of the American-made - ' New York Taxi' (2004), which is very far from the French action-comedy original. But her delightful dramatic role in ' The Secret Life of the Bees' (2008), who hasn't seen - be sure to watch (!), or in the musical 'Chicago' (2002) speak for themselves. Here is in ' Last Vacation' she played a real lady to whom life may not have given everything she wants, but her spontaneity, friendliness, ability to give smart and practical advice, support even a complete stranger, and draw the right conclusions about a particular situation will always keep the viewer on the side of Georgia Bird.
And, I must say that in ' Last Vacation', those sentimental, sometimes banal, but sincere notes are preserved, which give reason to think that everything is not lost in the matter of faith in humanity. This is not a typical current comedy of a romantic warehouse or ' immoral' kind, in ' Last Vacation' there is no place for jokes about sex and drugs, which now literally have a priority rental, this is a good comedy where you can laugh, and sympathize, and see in the characters yourself, your friends or acquaintances, and, most in my opinion, take a little virtue and be guided by it in life. Few people see this message, because in fact ' The Last Vacation' as if in itself an entertaining movie for housewives, but even in such a subgenre not the most beloved by critics, pleasant metamorphoses occur and pictures of this type attract a decent number of viewers. And just exemplary ' smart' comedy for the whole family becomes ' Last vacation', which everyone for some reason forgot, but in vain, because it can serve as a measure of the subgenre.
If we take other participants of the action, who do not escape the charisma of Queen Latifah, then I would like to note the very ethical role of LL Cool J. We were not used to seeing him on a romantic path, but it turned out that he could play a good responsive man who for unknown reasons had not yet been taken away by some lady, apparently, he waited a long time for Georgia Bird and finally realized what he wants from life. Alicia Witt played the role of an undecided girl who fell under the influence of the best person, but one meeting, one person helped her find herself (guess who it was). Nice role in Gerard Depardieu. In ' Last vacation' needed a Frenchman and Gerard, who stands out for his hard work, did not refuse to be a little in the status of a guest star. And he managed to add color to the painting. And Timothy Hutton always had the ability to play not the most attractive characters, here he is like ' antagonist' but it is against his background that all the best qualities of Georgia Bird bloom, so that such a character was needed and Hutton confidently embodied him.
In general, a very good movie worth watching, the main thing here is to draw conclusions for everyone, get a charge of positive energy, look around, find real responsive people, and become a little better in this already not the most friendly world with a huge number of evil people.
“Last Vacation” belongs to the category of films that simply and humorously talk about serious things, albeit templately, but clearly explaining the essence.
It's a very light film. But not without lectures on morality and the real values of life, of course. The picture shows the story of the most ordinary woman, not the first freshness, whose dreams are captured in a personal “book of possibilities”. Georgia is lonely, saves on everything, rides a tram and dreams of visiting Karlovy Vary. And then she is diagnosed with the last stage of a deadly disease. And then Georgia begins to live her last three weeks the way she always dreamed, selling all her possessions. And the key slogan of the film from the lips of the chef constantly sounds the phrase: “It does not matter how to start, the main thing is how to finish.”
Then it all happens in a fairy tale, as if God himself decided to pamper his daughter before he died. At the same time, the viewer is led to the idea that life is too good to die, that it is necessary to live rightly, without envying or trying to be not who you really are, but simply enjoy happiness in the form in which it is presented to you. There is a lot to think about too.
It's a shame that this only happens in movies. It is easy not to be afraid to live when everything is no longer worth it and when there are means for happiness. But the film is nonetheless motivating. Quinn Latifah at least cheers up. And after watching, I want to live a little stronger.
Of the shortcomings, perhaps, only that it turned out too fabulous. And so a very good film for Sunday evening, when you just want to relax and gain strength to live on.

"The Last Vacation" (USA, 2006) Appreciate life... For she is not eternally...
When my girlfriend and I returned from a five-day spring trip to Prague-Dresden-Karlovy Vary, it was about Karlovy Vary that she said... There are only two things we will regret on our deathbed: that we loved little and traveled little.
These are the words of the great writer and traveler Mark Twain. But how exactly did he say them? Maybe we will regret big things, who knows. Everyone has their own way. The main thing is to remember that you can love and be loved, and that the world is so vast and beautiful that it can be studied, studied and studied. And the writer is right...
The film “Last Vacation” was shown to us on the way back to the bus. Like, impressed by the trip, tourists will be happy to look again at the resort, which has just left. The move, of course, is strong, marketing. But I will not say that the picture cannot be seen by those who have never been to Karlovy Vary. This is a very different story...
What would you do if you only had three weeks to live? Like, that’s the situation, your life is running out and you only have three weeks. Someone will rob a bank and head to the sea, as it was in “Knocking to Heaven”, someone will give all their things to everyone (“Hey, Arnold, the monkey nucleosis series), well, someone like our heroine Georgia Bird (Queen Latifah) will realize their most cherished dreams. Not all of them, of course, but some of them...
To say that this is a comedy would be far from true. Yeah, there's humor in the picture. And the humor is interesting, not stupid. And jokes. Smart, resourceful... But more than that, it's a philosophical story. In a soft, accessible form, but philosophical. About life, their dreams, goals, opportunities... After all, the money for which a simple, poor American went to Karlovy Vary, she did not steal from anyone, did not borrow, so as not to give (death), no! It's all her personal savings. Plus the stock that came from my mom... And she decided how and what to spend it on.
How many soulful moments in the film? Cooking? Cooking? You can’t look at an empty stomach!!
And the chef Didier (the great Gerard Depardieu)? And the people at the prestigious hotel where Georgia decided to stay? At first it was like Home Alone 2. And then ...
Ski resort and descent, not inferior to spy films about James Bond! Helicopter, parachute jump. My God! Yes, all this was so clearly and intelligently put that, I am sure, many wanted to experience, and try the same thing as this Georgia!
And the film's romantic line... Queen Latifah is no longer a young girl. But how beautiful, interesting and soulful all this looks in the picture.
"Last Vacation." I decided to watch it again for a reason. Yes, the film on the trip I really liked and later I found out that it failed at the box office. But does it matter? He almost made me cry even though it was a remake of an old movie! If we think that only the cash registers can be close to our understanding, heart and mind, then the choice will be so limited that a narrow circle will be created. That's stupid. Why do we need a framework where there is a soul? The soul that tears up! ...
I don't know a director, a writer, or a composer. I haven’t seen them before... But what they did and did deserve respect. I won’t say that everyone will see this story, because everyone has their own idea of the last days of life, but what this work deserves to be talked about is yes.
Queen Latifah... I've heard a lot about her. Probably seen in episodic roles. But like that, a full-fledged main character, did not have. Heroine... And how good! Positive, kind, modest. She doesn't seem weak. Nope. Even charismatic and representative. And so soulful that... It can attract to itself, as it was shown in the picture.
The picture without vulgarity, with a skillful "blow" to the authorities, exciting adventures, romance and a stunning ending - with great pleasure will decorate my collection of favorite and heartfelt films, with the mark: "for many years."
Well, if I immediately felt that the story for me will pass the test of time (in Karlovy Vary I was a year ago) and will take its place in the category of lyrical, romantic, spiritual and philosophical tapes.

The film "Last Vacation" caught my eye completely by accident, and I decided to watch something unobtrusive, but cute, chose it.
From the very first minutes we get acquainted with the life of the main character - an ordinary aunt, a modest saleswoman from the dishes department. Georgia Bird (Queen Latifah) loves to cook, secretly in love with a salesman from another department, but is afraid to reveal her feelings to him to death, and she also leads an “album of opportunities” where she pastes pictures of the life she dreams of living. And Georgia would live her humble life, get reprimanded by her superiors for her cooking presentations, and sigh for the man of dreams from the next department, if not for a visit to the doctor. After learning that she has only three weeks to live, Georgia decides to fulfill her dreams and change the cottage on the outskirts of the city to a luxury hotel in Karlovy Vary, to realize those very pictures from the “album of opportunities”.
To the credit of the director, the film did not have the cliché “the ragman came out of the mud into the princes and rocked the whole world of the rich”, given that the main character is black, to this cliché one could add “rocked, dancing hip-hop on the table”. Come on! Georgia does not shock rich guests, does not swear and does not slap vulgar jokes, she came to live the last days as she always dreamed, and simply does not deny herself anything. Parachute jumps, the most delicious food from the chef, whom a fan of cooking admired, walks through the snowy streets, a spa - a solid savor of the last days of life. Watching Georgia, involuntarily catch yourself thinking how long you need to wait for the “kick of fate” to understand how transient life is. There were many films on this topic, but their essence is the same – appreciate what you have, do not postpone for later what you can do now. Of course, not everyone can rush to an expensive hotel, but everyone can escape from the routine, there would be a desire.
The film is slightly delayed, but not boring, the plot is simple, but not vulgar, and the main reason that the film keeps the viewer at the screen is Queen Latifah, whose Georgia, a lady of not a model type, conquers the viewer with her charm, kindness and warmth.
In general, "Last Vacation" is a pleasant, leisurely, charming and kind film. The amazing story of the most ordinary woman.
The closer we are to death, the more we value life.
Without reading reviews and knowing only that this film is really about the last vacation, the beginning seemed to me like advertising a waste of money - airline business classes, resorts need a new clientele, and they invest in indirect advertising and marketing. But gradually the film acquires shades of the philosophical side of life, showing the viewer the reaction of the main character and other characters to what happened. At the same time, the film has a huge number of funny and funny moments, and the optimism of the main character remains a very pleasant memory for many months after watching the film.
In this film, as often in life, a person living a full life is perceived strangely, unnaturally. Why do we have to walk to the edge of a cliff to feel what it means to live? To hear that wasted time ends, dreams and hopes remain, and only then do we enter the stream of life, finally forgetting our fears, disbelief and despair? The film gives an opportunity to see it by the example of others, to live with the heroine her life story - to see the old life, which many of us sometimes live, and move to a new life, which many dream or fear. In the end, they do nothing for their lives. As someone once said, “People live like they have 500 years left.” The film gives you the opportunity to see all this and take some of her experience into your life, start building your happiness, your life, realize your dreams and desires, let go of fears and pain – live a full life.
There is a stereotype that a small person, an office worker, a store seller cannot have a normal full life. It is believed that he is incapable of more than hopeless and restless perception of life in the form of “work-store-home”. But, like many stereotypes, this one turns out to be wrong and this employee, who earns $ 4 an hour, has much more life force, full of brightness, optimism, dignity, desire for adventure compared to other rich people.
A few decades ago, American scientist Raymond Moody wrote a book about people who survived clinical death and talk about out-of-body experiences. Many of them, touching the edge of their lives and feeling the breath of death with every cell, radically changed their lifestyle. They saw it as a second chance given to the universe and valued every moment of their lives.
The heroine of the film almost experienced clinical death - a couple of weeks and she is gone. At such moments, the system of values, the worldview, the deep attitude to life is reversed. For many people living in a calm, quiet state of life, it seems that such people have hysteria against the background of the disease, they are abnormal and do irrational actions. But everyone determines for himself “his normality”, his attitude to life and this is well shown in the film.
I recommend this film not only as a dramatic, philosophical parable about all of the above, but also as an interesting and optimistic, sometimes cheerful, story of the life of an amazing woman.
Knowing that you have nothing to lose, life is seen with different eyes.
In 2006, director Wayne Wang made a heartfelt tragicomedy that I really like. This film is full of charm, something kind and sweet. He looks with a smile, shot atmosphericly and with a good hand of the director, so the film looks doubly happy.
In this incredible story, we see the heroine Georgia Brad. She learns that she does not have long to live. The woman decides to fulfill her dream and goes to a fashionable European resort. Here she is waiting for a series of events, such as, for example, she was mistaken for a rich woman and treated her accordingly, then she met the cook of her dreams and learned an incredible event.
The movie is light and kind. He has a lot of funny moments that can’t help but smile. This film is very warm and its atmosphere warms the hearts of the audience. So much charm, so much positivity. The main role of the dreamer was played by Queen Latifah, and this is one of my favorite roles. She played as always comically and spiritually, a very pleasant and excellent actress. Along with Latifah, it was nice to see El El Cool Jay and the megastar of French cinema Gerard Depardieu.
The picture turned out for the whole family. I’ve seen it twice and I can say it’s a wonderful movie. The actress was very successfully selected for the role of the main character, and Queen Latifah did her job. Her performance was balanced between drama and comedy, and everything looked harmonious. This film as a whole is about kindness, about the desire to live, about the twists of fate and unexpected surprises, about how sometimes you need to think about your life and rethink something.
Last Vacation is an American, adventure tragicomedy for all time. This film is very positive and cute. I give it a positive assessment and recommend it for viewing. Thank you.
What are you doing? Start allowing yourself more immediately!
“Let the film begin!” my husband told me, noticing that I had become skeptic out of habit. The first scenes of “Last Vacation” did not seem particularly exciting to me, but after listening to my husband, I still gave the film a chance and did not regret a drop.
For me, this movie is primarily about how important it is for a woman to be relaxed, confident in her beauty, to love her body - in short, to be a woman in the full sense of the word. Allow yourself to be a Goddess, open to the world, going to meet her desires. This topic is extremely relevant, and I can only wonder with what ease and delicacy the filmmakers were able to solve it.
More broadly, it is important for all of us to know what we want and not be afraid to pursue our dreams. There is only here and now, and this is the best place and time to drop your fears and become yourself.
Easy, witty, “Last Vacation” does not allow you to get bored for a second, everything in it is in moderation – colors, emotions, and wisdom. And even guessing what the outcome would be, I was still moved to tears by the final scene: to press, but not to overplay, not to overdo it with emotion - only true masters can do this.
Impressions after the film remain the most rosy, and it is best to review it on the eve of the New Year and Christmas, when so sincerely want to believe in miracles and start life from scratch.

Last Vacation isn’t the last movie I’ve ever seen, but it’s one of those movies I always smile at.
Despite the dramatic component, everything in this story seems to be imbued with positive from the beginning to the very end. Here we see an extraordinary thirst and love for life in all its manifestations. Together with the main character, we have to go through a very difficult period in her life, a fateful test, which she passes with a proudly raised head and a smile on her face. Everything makes sense only when it tends to end and happiness is that it just happened.
With this film began my acquaintance with Queen Latifah and since then I just fell in love with this actress, I don’t know if she played so natural, but it seems that she herself in life radiates this warmth and light, which awarded her character. Here Gerard Depardieu miraculously performed his role, a very successful image, as if it was written under him.
“Last Vacation” is a wonderfully kind and touching story that always lifts my spirits.
Even taking into account the overall positive, and sometimes not quite serious atmosphere of the film, it deals with rather sensitive topics of health and a valuable irreplaceable resource - time. To a certain extent, this is a story, along with watching which, thoughts about your own leisure, about your already achieved or sung life priorities come to life in your head. Such an incentive, only based on the journey of the heroine Queen Latifah, of course, is not enough for any changes, but to cheer yourself up is a matter of an hour and a half.
As the main advantage of the story, I would like to highlight the real feeling of a change of scenery - something that most people dream of. This was achieved due to the clear contrast between the daily routine of a consultant in the store and the festive fairy tale in the famous tourist center of the Czech Republic. And it's not so much an expensive hotel for privileged guests, as surrounded. Picturesque views, cobbled streets, street vendors, cozy food shops, Christmas illumination. During viewing, there is a desire to immediately go to such a place.
Separately, it is worth mentioning the presence in all senses of the positive development of the theme of culinary art. In many ways, this is the merit of the eminent chef, an eccentric professional performed by Gerard Depardieu. The story itself and its development cannot be called original. With all the magnificence of the environment, the story develops quite predictably and banal, up to the final denouement, and after viewing the characters, even the main character, are quickly erased from memory. There are no really bright or funny scenes here, unfortunately.

The film “Last Vacation” could be another unremarkable product of the film industry, if not for the subtle flair of director Wayne Wan, who prompted him to choose an actress for the lead role. Yes, yes, and a thousand times yes, it is Queen Latifah (Georgia Bird) that is the center of attraction for the audience to this tape. Bright, unusually charismatic, standing out from all the other actors, she was able to give the film a special taste, and this is the taste of life itself.
Georgia Bird, who works as a saleswoman in a pot store, one day learns that she is terminally ill, and she does not have much time to enjoy the last days of her departing life. Being by nature a person cheerful, optimistic, not inclined to fall into discouragement and mourn her fate, she decides to use the remaining time for what she dreamed of throughout her life, namely to go to a fashionable resort and spend her last vacation there.
The theme taken as a basis in this film is not new, in cinema there are already tapes with similar problems. But interestingly, the characters of these films do not try to live in the here and now, preferring to postpone dreams in the long box, no one makes significant changes in their lives until the gong of the Lord God announces that their time is running out. Until X-hour, everything and everyone is satisfied, everyone is happy and life, in general, is beautiful. However, once they realize the finiteness of being, as immediately there are unsatisfied desires and dreams that have not had time to be realized. What prevented them from doing this before remains a question for me.
Of course, people who do not give up in the face of a terrible disease, trying to catch up at least at the last moment, can only be admired. Their fortitude, their fortitude, the courage with which they endure the troubles that have fallen on them, command respect, and Georgia deserves it as well. But looking at the luxury that she has surrounded herself with, the expensive pleasures that she can afford with an impressive sum in her purse, it becomes clear that without money, life will not smile at you with a Cheshire smile, and will not let you feel all the charms that an album of possibilities can contain. In other words, you have to pay for pleasure, and the tighter the purse, the sweeter the last minutes of a fading life. What about those who do not have a penny? Unfortunately, this is the Achilles heel of the picture: too much attention is paid to money and luxury, and very little concern for Georgia about its doom. It is possible that this approach is associated with the character of the main character, who will not waste precious time on self-pity, on the other hand, the tragedy of the described situation hides. No, there are dramatic moments, of course, and in my opinion, the strongest scene is the scene in front of the mirror, again, a huge thank you to Queen Latifah for her amazing, magnificent acting, she is really the queen, the queen of her role.
In conclusion, I would like to say the following: do not put off life until tomorrow, live and enjoy every day, no matter how banal it may sound. Make your dreams come true today because tomorrow you may not have enough time. Love life and it will reciprocate you.
Georgia Bird is another embodiment of the canonical American loser: she is old, black, single, and works not as a director of the company, but as a modest dish seller. The bosses of Hamit, the reality surrounding the heroine is sulfur and joyless, and then the doctor said that Georgia did not live long. This moment became a turning point for her: it is unlikely that Georgia watched “Reaching Heaven”, “Guitar” and other tear-pressing films on this topic, but what she knows for sure is that before death everyone is equal, and in Eternity I would like to have real vivid memories. And now she just gets the chance to spend the rest of her days in luxury, prosperity and moderate adventures. You just have to lie a little bit.
It’s not, of course, “Reaching Heaven,” but it’s no longer “Guitar.” The question of the meaning of life slides more on the material layer: the heroine does not close the gestalts, does not particularly struggle with psychological problems and generally gives the impression of a healthy moral personality: she just wants to get everything that she did not have in her entire life, but not because it is status, or rich, or something like that, but because all this beauty seems to be dissonant with her former joyless lifestyle. And all nothing, but the heart scratches an unpleasant feeling that the value of life directors (not the heroine, no) is measured not by the brightness of impressions, but by banknotes and living in a status hotel with celebrities. Of course, this idea is not cultivated or expressed, but it is also not refuted.
What is the point of blatantly commercial tragicomedy in commerce? This is stupid and pointless: we must pay tribute to the set goal "last vacation" performs perfectly - it is ideal for family viewing, when you want to talk about the eternal and at the same time not to tear souls serious cinematic classics. He easily balances on the verge of comedic lightness and light sadness, causing anxious sad faces in the audience. This is largely due to the wonderful cast: and if the presence of Gerard Depardieu can still raise questions, but the brilliant performance of Queen Latifah does not cause any doubt. It's like Hachiko - no matter how emotionally blackmailing the film is, no matter how desperately he tries to knock a tear out of the viewer, you can't look at the main characters without admiration. Doggies and good actors are expensive ... even if there are no dogs in Last Vacation - but Queen Latifah is plenty. Even if the morality of the work is questionable (or questionable, at least), but it is unobtrusive enough not to spoil the impression of watching, and not every film can boast of this.
As soon as "Last Vacation" was over, I immediately decided to write a review about it, as I was overwhelmed with a lot of emotions and thoughts - I need to write them down somewhere, so as not to forget. The film made a lasting impression on me, it was incredibly easy and pleasant to watch. Great actors, great music, and most importantly, he made me think. But all in order - first the plot.
Georgia Bird is an ordinary girl who works as a salesman and is no different from the others. She would have stayed that way for the rest of her life if it weren’t for an accident. Georgia is diagonally diagnosed with a deadly disease and doctors say she will not live more than 3 weeks. Contrary to all expectations, she does not retreat into herself, complaining about an unfair life, but goes to spend all her hard-earned money in an expensive resort. There she fascinates everyone with her spontaneity, directness and cheerfulness. Georgia enjoys life, does crazy things, does things she would never have done before, even changes the lives of the people around her. In short, she's finally living for real.
Last Vacation helped me remember one simple truth: everyone makes mistakes, but it’s never too late to fix them. It does not matter that a person did the wrong things and lived not as he would really like, if he still found the strength to change. The film also reminded me to appreciate every moment and live it fully, because you never know what awaits you. Most people (including me, of course) think only about the future or live their past, forgetting that the present is the here and now, that the present is the future. And then they wake up and realize that they have not done what they dreamed of, and there is no time anymore.
Let it all be banal and far from new, but it is the awareness of such simple things that makes you change and move on.
A huge thank you to the filmmakers for the fertile ground for reflection and for the sincere emotions.
Sometimes there comes a time in life when you don’t know what you’re living for. This film can definitely help. Often when we live, we do not think about the meaning of life, we just let everything take its course, caring primarily about what will happen tomorrow, in the future.
That’s what George Bird thought until she found a tumor. Imagine a task. You work your whole life, you hope for the best, you believe in God like Georgia, and at one point they tell you you're going to die. And then it seems to you that you did not have so much time, did not do, did not say. But it's late. But! Georgia decided not to despair and live these days in such a way as not to lose a single second, not to miss anything.
I liked the acting of Quinn Latifa, aka Georgia Bird. Emotions are perfectly conveyed, especially despair, when everything already loses meaning. And of course, Gerard Depardieu, who, as always, played wonderfully, perfectly coping with his role.
“Nothing, in the next life we will do things differently.” We will laugh more, love more, see the world. We will not be afraid of anything.
“Last Vacation” teaches us not to postpone everything “later”, to live now without fear of what will happen tomorrow. You need to try everything, have time, say, and most importantly take risks, which is what this film teaches. The main thing is not to regret that it is too late.
I hope this movie inspires you to watch.
From me:
9 out of 10
Do you remember saying that life is too short to live as I do? You were right."
Well, it would seem that the film is not so intricate. Fun and sadness, positive and negative character, etc. Classics of the genre. But it's not that simple. And the first thing that makes this film stand out is the exceptionally brilliant Queen Latifah. Yes, yes, she is! She is a simple, medium-unstatistical African-American woman (outwardly!) who has managed to bring so much charm and charm to the image and film that she rapidly raises it several steps higher. No matter how banal it may sound - her heroine believes, sympathizes, worries and rejoices with her.
Plot. Oddly enough, but not so much filmed on this topic. You heard right. Surely, first of all come to mind the films “Reach out to heaven” and “Until I played in the box”, perhaps there are still films with a similar theme, but alas they do not come to mind. As for the films mentioned above, yes, they are absolutely good, and I’m not going to compare them to this work. Perhaps someone this film will seem weaker in terms of semantic load and “dose” of morality. But one way or another, this movie, too, is worthy of presenting an idea, just in a lighter, sweeter, somewhere naive form, which is often really necessary. If you want to hear and feel only the "wisdom" of the film, so to speak - "download", then you will not succeed. The film combines the pleasant with the useful - laughter through tears (understand as you like). That's why I love him.
My score is 9. I recommend watching in the mood “to see this...”
"Wait, wait for something important to happen, and suddenly it turns out that you are dying," — this is how I want to start my review, because in this phrase, in my opinion, lies the whole idea of the film. But indeed, many of us all our lives waiting for some miracle that will turn gray everyday life into an endless holiday of the soul. Until that happens, many of them will live their miserable lives. And when they finally realize that the miracle will not come, and their happiness must create themselves, time will be irretrievably lost.
That was the character of the film, Georgia Byrd. Modest, clogged with the world saleswoman of kitchen utensils, with a lot of complexes and fears. But after Georgia finds out that she is terminally ill, she realizes that she has nothing more to lose and decides to live the rest of her days as she wanted to live her whole life without fear and living for her pleasure.
Of course, I can’t say that the film is a masterpiece of world cinematography, and that “Last Vacation” is a worthy alternative to “Reaching Heaven” (the essence of the films is the same), but still it is a magnificent light comedy that I recommend everyone to watch. Especially pleased with the lack of modern American stupid (IMHO) humor.
And if you are still thinking about whether to watch this film, then my answer is unequivocal: WOULD!
10 out of 10
Incredibly naive film. It is recommended to watch only in a very good mood, because otherwise the wagon and a small trolley of scripted clichés will become so bad that after a long abstinence from Hollywood “color” films and comedies will follow in the life of the viewer.
Although, in a good way, this movie is not called a comedy. The pleasure of viewing delivers more joy for the heroine (a lot of situations where our Mademoiselle is not childish and very negro), rather than from jokes - they in the film as such almost there. However, he looks in one breath, because it is a lot of comic situations.
Rarely do I rate films. But it is in this case that I will change my principles, simply because I do not know how to finish what I have written. Ball - for the brightness of the colors on the screen, five - for the brisk heroine. Six, anyway. The rest was eaten by stamps.
