In St. Petersburg I come with the rain Or this is what would happen if South Korean thrillers were filmed in Russia.
On the first hand, we have typical material and technical difficulties for the domestic film industry: a cheap picture, everything does not give me peace to watch Russian films; sometimes clumsy shooting; sometimes clumsy editing, especially sound; sometimes awkward acting of actors, sometimes just unbearable ... In general, there is a lack of experience. But this is all forgivable, because you have to start somewhere. Hell, if I were to shoot my sketches, I would already be vomiting my hair.
On the other hand, we have the same Far Eastern flavor in which one feels one’s vision of the world – especially at first glance inappropriate ironic moments – and which cannot but catch on. The unhurried rhythm of the narrative, diluted by the fascinating panoramas of the autumn forest-steppe, into which you plunge thanks to the atmosphere of ethnicism, cannot but pacify. Especially with such an intense dark ambient sound, immediately remaining in memory. And, of course, the very idea that affects the existential nature of man. And although dialogues look artificial somewhere, and too pretentious somewhere (I know how difficult it is to write them), they nevertheless manage to make the neurons of the brain begin to move actively.
As a result, despite the amatorically made wrapper, a very pleasant candy is waiting inside us. And even if I did not eat sweets, the desire to get acquainted with the director’s short films would not disappear.
