“Chief of the Carousels” is a comedy series consisting of ten episodes. He doesn't have a story. One episode, one story. I mean, it's a mini sitcom.
The main characters Yuri and Nadezhda Babulina are married not for the first year. Nadia works for a company that manufactures washing powder. Yura, as the name of the series implies, works as a chief in the amusement park. In general, they live quite modestly. But, despite the fact that they are not rich, they actually live in a VERY large and spacious apartment, in which paintings hang on the walls. And if in the series “Happy together” shoe tycoon Gena Bukin with his family lives in a huge, two-storey mansion, which is all, from and to, filled with furniture, then in the apartment Babulins quite empty. It has not been repaired for a long time.
And, as is often the case even in young families, spouses constantly argue with each other. Nadia nags Yuru about and without, and Yura sits tired after work and does not react much to her words. They do not have children, but for some reason they do not separate. I don't know what's keeping them together. Watching their swearing, which is present in almost every series, is exhausting. And not just for swearing. In the series, almost all the dialogue is long and boring. It’s like a comedy, though.
As for the comedy component of the series... Jokes are impossible flat, played, predictable and stupid. From the humor of this series, you just want to cover your face with your hand. As they say, they do, but I am ashamed. No, there were, of course, normal jokes, for the sake of justice, it is worth noting that there were even a couple of good jokes, but what does this spoonful of honey in a barrel of tar give?
And the stupid ones in this series are not only jokes and dialogues, but also plots in general. For example, in the third series, Yura learned that he was a psychic. He began to slowly use this gift. The series ended, and in the next series he did not use his gift. Moreover, neither he nor his wife even remembered it, as if they had just forgotten it. But why? If they are struggling to make ends meet, why not start earning these abilities? There, even charlatans make good money on this, and here's a real psychic. It would seem that they discovered a gold mine, but for some reason they did not develop it. Instead, they continued to live their ordinary, poor lives – Nadia continues to push Yura to get rich in all sorts of stupid and dubious ways, and Yura continues to hide from the despair surrounding him in her fantasies. Yura has a very rich imagination, he constantly fantasizes. And his fantasies are shown to the viewer. It's such a show thing. His fantasies are crazy, of course. I think Yura has schizophrenia.
In general, this is another conveyor product for television, which does not stand out from thousands of other sitcoms. This comedy does not cope with its main task - to make the viewer laugh. Horribly played and stupid series, not rich in events, which is just boring to watch.
