Nice old Clarell, who was once an actress and performed on Broadway, now runs a mini-hotel. Under one roof gathered absolutely unlike each other people: her godfather Gator, not letting the camera out of the hands of informal; porn actress Plager, starring right in the common living room and earning money masturbation on the webcam; in love with her Indian Ranjit, who failed to succeed in either love or career; obsessed with hygiene Tyrell and, finally, Carrie – a girl with problems with money and cocaine. Carrie is hated by all the other residents of the house for her bitchy nature, so when she decides to rent one empty room for a decent amount to the organizers of a cool rave party, a problem arises. About the party can not tell Clarell, and all the tenants demand from Carrie any preferences for his silence.
Such is the plot of this story, notable primarily for the uncertainty of the genre: the first half of the film, which introduces us to the characters and demonstrates the microclimate in their team, seems to be drawn to comedy, although not too funny; the second, including the finale, is emphasized dramatic. Certain scenes, including shooting porn in a room full of strangers, were quite successful from the point of view of comic cinema, and the tape, in principle, could be attributed to tragicomedy, were it not for this clear kink, dividing it into funny and sad halves. This is not usually done in cinema (with rare lucky exceptions like Roberto Benigni’s Life is Beautiful), and one of the reasons for the low rating of the film is the deceived expectations of viewers who saw not what they expected. The scores would have been much higher if filmmaker Ryan LeMasters had stayed within the standard black comedy format and had he stood the bar from start to finish.
In fact, the idea is quite good: by the will of fate, the guys whose teenage dreams were crushed by a cruel reality gathered in one wall. Youth ends, career failed, with personal life too seams, have already appeared his cockroaches in his head – but none of the characters is trying gradually, step by step, to improve his situation. Everyone is waiting for that chance, a gift from fate, not thinking for a second about what they actually deserved such a gift. And a gift is always only half the battle: it is more important how you use it. Unfortunately, neither the uneven script nor the mediocre actors contribute to the proper disclosure of the serious themes that the film poses. This is not surprising: he was put by a beginner - not a genius from a number of those whose debut work immediately turns out to be a masterpiece. However, you can not call the picture completely hopeless; it is just too raw and full of flaws, so it is definitely not worth recommending it to everyone as a killer comedy. If you are not sorry for an hour and a half, you can familiarize yourself for your outlook, but the film will most likely not produce a deep impression on you.
