The Gratitude of a Dissenting Philosopher It’s not a film, it’s a video lecture, it can’t be judged by the criteria by which a movie is usually judged. I’ll be looking for other professional ones.
The main idea of Žižek is a new dimension of being. What conservative philosophy hunches at as an illusion — virtuality — Žižek shows new levels of existence. Objective, in his opinion. This is a very good way of thinking – from the little-understood centaurism of “virtual reality” to the seemingly more clear concept of “virtual reality”.
There are millions, if not billions, of posthumans behind Žižek. Gamers, role-players, movie lovers (please note!), regulars of social networks, subculturers (such as cyberpunks or skinheads), pensioners who are mired in series - all these post-people who drowned in the virtual world both in their number and their presence in the so-called "reality" significantly exceed traditional people. Where are the men and women, the kshatriyas and brahmanas, the peasants and the artisans now? Only in West-centric trash.
And Žižek, like Lenin (perhaps hence his love for Ilyich), seeks to saddle the beast that others have not yet realized. Lenin pointed to the drunken cattle as the builders of the new world and did not lose (in the short term). Žižek, on the other hand, takes the place of the Architect of the second Matrix, assuring posthumans that one should not disdain his virtualism – that this, they say, is opening up a new dimension of reality. You need to learn to live in it (hey, iPhone carriers!) and enjoy it.
The reality of the virtual is an apt concept. In my opinion, this reality has a presence, but only on the subjective level (" subjective - not "individual"), and the effect of the presence of this reality - as a drug trip, anesthesia hallucinations, schizoid autosuggestion. Whatever these mirages are, they are wide in terms of the number of bullied spectators/gamers/participants. But, obviously, the virtual world is more colorful and interesting than dull reinforced concrete reality, so how can you say: “Glory, you are wrong!”
Disagreeing with Žižek in his assessment of the objectivity of “real virtuality”, one should be grateful to him for the crystallization of the concept and clarification of what is happening in the post-humans.
