What French men do. Part two Despite the fact that the golden years of true French comedy are behind us, sometimes the most romantic and at the same time comic nation in the world pleases us with rather amusing works that can both cause a smile and let stingy male tears. In 2007, the efforts of director Patrick Ward saw the light of the picture “3 lustful pigs”, telling about the love, dramatic and, of course, comic adventures of the three brothers, remembering the past, present and present against the background of a mother in a coma. The well-known sophisticated French humor was skillfully balanced by non-stupid conclusions and extreme frankness, from which the work of Patrick Ward was not recommended for young audiences. The main characters personified three layers of modern society at once, intriguing the audience with the complexity of their characters, good tastes and an obligatory pinch of madness, without which there is no escape in a good French comedy. And now, almost a decade after the first part, an unexpected sequel, called 3 Happy Pigs, is released. The place of Patrick Ward, who was interested in other projects, was taken by his equally skillful colleague Jean-Frasnois Poulet, and the leading roles were again reserved for the stars of the original picture, thereby providing the 3rd happy piglets with audience attention.
So, the plot of the film unfolds years after Remy (Paul Duce), Christian (Guillaume Leme-Tivierge) and Mathieu (Patrice Robiteill) made perhaps the most important conversation in their lives and were able to adjust the staggering from one side to the other life. Leaving harmful disagreements, unnecessary quarrels and ungodly desires behind, our heroes returned to take up the old! It seems that over the years, men must acquire wisdom, leave boyish maximalism to their children, in order to meet the coming old age with proper dignity, but when three “pigs” are involved in the case, it is not necessary to count on decency, because women worthy of their attention have not yet transferred to the district. And it does not matter that they have settled down for a long time, their home is protected by their wives and even age makes itself felt. True Frenchmen never betray their adventurous romantic spirit, rising from the ashes every time a pretty lady passes by. This time, the younger Christian did not properly distinguish himself, and for his misdeeds in time to go out and fight a duel, but still the brothers are not ready to abandon him to the mercy of fate under any circumstances, because they stand a mountain for each other forever.
Like the original film, the sequel performed by Jean-François Poulet can not boast of exemplary morality, but viewers should not expect this from the continuation of one of the most piquant French stories of the last decade. Let the “Piglets” do not show revealing parts of the body and visible vulgarity in the frame are practically not observed, the tapes of Ward and Poole have the so-called delicate aura, from which some especially impressionable viewers will not have at all. Nevertheless, despite all the immorality and fearlessness, “3 Happy Pigs” still try, and quite successfully, as for me, to profess the correct, effective morality, proclaiming eternal family values, only they fulfill their purpose painfully specific. For the main characters, it is not worth changing anything to the spouses, and putting in a bed not an unknown beauty, but the wife of his own brother. At the same time, we do not have to count on special remorse, because according to the philosophy of the creators of the paintings, we live only once, and small oversights should be forgiven without much consideration. Yes, the morality of "3 happy piglets" on the surface is very shaky, and attempts to guide the characters on the path of truth look uncertain and timid, but for all the moral shortcomings of the film, it can not take away what it really captivates and amuses. And all the plot twists and turns, played out under the leadership of Jean-François Poulet, cause an invariable smile, devoid of the slightest hint of discouraging tragedy.
When it comes to “3 lustful piglets” and its continuation, it is not possible to ignore the leading roles a priori. Both films are full of logical, moral and moral shortcomings, but all of them are erased from memory thanks to the confident play of Paul Doucet, Guillaume Lema-Tivierge and Patrice Robiteill, who successfully replaced Claude Legalt, who was eliminated from the game. The actors brilliantly got used to the images provided to them. Of course, outwardly they do not resemble each other and it is very difficult to call the guys brothers, but thanks to the strong friendship that originated on the set, they look like a single close-knit team of men who have something to oppose obstinate women! In some ways, “3 Happy Pigs” look like a humorous anti-feminist manifesto, and it is difficult to argue with this even after the most recent frame, crowning the story on a major note, but if you look deeper into the picture, try to understand the motivation of the actions of the heroes and the prevailing family circumstances, then if you want, you can justify negligent heroes and build a firm logical line of their behavior based on anxiety, lust and desires nurtured not without the participation of their wives.
In the end, I want to say that 3 Happy Pigs continue to develop an ambiguous story about men who are not the most attractive externally and internally, trying to find their personal happiness within the strict framework of family relationships. In no way can Remy, Christian, and Mathieu be considered role models, as they are as far from ideal as possible. At the same time, heroes allow us to learn from our mistakes in order to make exceptionally good decisions in real life. At least for the sake of this French comedy from Jean-François Poulet should be taken into account. Men and women alike. Children are traditionally better off from viewing.
