The film is hyped, but according to my taste and understanding of things does not claim great honor.
Directing
It's a normally folded TV movie. If we talk about how it was made, the best thing about it was made by a production artist. That is, it is about how to fill the frame space, not any directing move. The camera part is not reduced to more than fixing scenes.
Graphic design
There is no design here except advertising. To take a picture of your body, to make many options for interesting lettering - it is more and more about advertising (!) design and self-expression. But there is no information about the identity of the designer and his method, nor about the products he produces, nor about the design field itself.
On happiness
It's more about the relationship between the internally immature person and the abstract concept of happiness. That’s 90 percent of the focus on himself, and it’s like the 22-year-old’s ideas. But when the person in the frame 50 - it's not so fun. The film stated the problem, but offered no possible solutions. This film is not about a psychological experiment.
To sum up, it's not about happiness, it's not about personality psychology, it's not about design, it's not about cinema. In the beginning and the end, we see thousands of balloons that indistinctly lift a person into the sky. In fact, the film itself came out as indistinct.
If an esoteric master had analyzed this, he would have probably noted a 100% successful attempt to attract a large amount of energy from the audience. Depression is always stagnation and lack of energy, and the film solves that problem, not any other. The hero’s wandering through retreat centers and ayahuasca reception sessions sufficiently indicates that he does not realize the meaning of these actions, and simply does not understand what he is dealing with.
