The car of my dreams Amy Roberts and Pharrell Bennett are in the same school. Besides, in the same class! They both hate each other and constantly ignore one another. Things get even worse when Amy and Farrell run for chief. The guy is wildly popular, while no one takes Amy seriously, except for her best and only friend. Suddenly, fate throws teenagers another surprise – a chance to win a car. All you need is just a few days to stand next to the machine, putting your hand on your cherished dream, in any case not removing it! But is it so easy to be close to each other for three days, without sleep, those who in normal situations just can not tolerate one?
Quite typical American youth comedy, with all the attributes of the genre inherent in it. Here you and irreconcilable confrontation, school bullying and pretenses, various jokes (mostly aggressive). Even the heroes themselves are seven of those who want to get the cherished car - a set of stamped heroes. Brainless blonde, which only does that chases likes, posting everything around. Equally dumb-headed, flaunting his own muscles. The rapper and his cartoon cat – they just can not without each other, although the guy and weighed the fame of the cat. Neither can Amy and Farrell without each other. So as soon as both appear on the screen, showering one with caustic abuse, you already know exactly how it will end. But Ilyssa Goodman does not expect more. I think I should agree with one of the statements of one of the foreign film critics: “The Standoff is more like a reality show than a film in its classical sense.”
At first, watching such stamps is very boring, because absolutely nothing new film and does not bring. However, as the game timer is turned on and the confrontation begins, the heat begins to gain momentum. Here you need to pay tribute to the screenwriter Lee Dunlap and the acting – in such circumstances, when almost all the action takes place in one place (in the parking lot), and the attention of the audience is focused on a narrow circle of characters – any sagging moment, unnatural play immediately catches the eye and can fail the film. However, the actors themselves burn in the film as they can. They fool around, tease at each other, quarrel and envy, and it looks quite natural. Interestingly, almost all of the actors – Olivia Holt, Ryan McCarthan, Audrey Whitby, Regan Burns, etc. – all participated in television shows on the Disney Channel. Maybe that’s why they were chosen for the show?
I don’t think this movie brings anything new to the cinema. And it is quite clear why it was almost invisible to the viewer. However, the very idea of the game (something similar to what we have already seen in The Long Walk according to the book of the incomparable Stephen King), the playful actor allows the viewer to relax and enjoy the action on the screen. This is exactly what I think the creators of “Confrontation” wanted.
