The situation in which several strangers are locked in the same room is often played out in the cinema. As a rule, this technique is used to maintain a high degree of tension and maintain the dynamics of the narrative.
In this picture, Alexis de la Iglesia managed to fully reveal the plot, and not lower the degree of tension. Alex de la Iglesia is a very talented and original director, and this film is a great confirmation of that. In films shot in this way, the most depends on the actors – they are in the frame all the time. And on whether they can convey all the emotions, and depends on the perception of the film.
And of the actors, I really want to distinguish two: Jaime Ordonez and Mario Casas. I will start with the second - here he is not a macho and a thunderstorm of the district, but a modest and insecure "nerd", an employee of an advertising agency. Unexpected, but nothing extraordinary. Played well. The one who really struck was Jaime Ordoñez. Attitudes vary greatly from bright negative at the beginning of the film to positive in the middle. This is due to the charisma of his hero, which awakens in him as the plot develops.

You can try to scold this movie for the fact that its characters are grotesque, the plot is shallow and social satire is superficial. However, the directing, cinematography and acting work is so good that El Bar looks in one breath, exciting and does not let you get distracted. Isn’t that the main advantage of film?
Spanish film directed by Alesca de la Iglesia, shows the unique situation in which the characters fall. Someone came for coffee, and someone else went to the bar and a lot of other heroes. But on the street, some madman starts shooting at the bar and killing passers-by. And how our heroes will try to survive in this difficult environment and what will come out of it to learn in the process of watching the film!
I liked the idea of the film, there is something unique about it. Only for this and you can already start to watch, but I think the implementation has shaken, and sometimes too quickly changes the course of the narrative in the film.
The cast. I don’t know any of the actors in the movie, I haven’t seen any of them. I don’t think there’s one actor, Mario Casas, who you might know from a good Spanish film, The Invisible Guest, 39, or more. Even though these actors were unknown, they played well. Most of all I liked the actors: Mario Casas, Blanca Suarez, Jaime Ordonez.
The first part of the film takes place in a very fast environment, everything happens too quickly, it is really interesting to follow! Then the second one is a little slower, which begins to instill boredom, and the third one was even weaker. I liked the humor in the film, although it is clear that it is trish humor, but it came to me!
I liked the production. There's nothing to say about music, I don't remember if it was. But even without it, it was interesting to watch what was happening on the screen.
We can say about the disclosure of characters, at the beginning of the film we were given a small excursion about the characters, and a little later they told us a little more, but revealing the characters in such a film seems to me not the most important thing!
I didn’t like the second part of the film, which was weaker than the first part, and I didn’t think the story would develop as it developed in the second part. It was not the most interesting thing to do.
To summarize, this film is suitable for fans of thrash and Spanish films. Once again, I am amazed by the Spaniards, what cool movies they can make! I highly recommend it!
There are those saved, but there is no joy of deliverance.
Spanish tapes are not very sorry: often in excess of natural shooting of violence and inappropriate savoring of sex.
The film is an exception to the rule.
It is full of drama, intense action and is dedicated to the super modern European problem of survival in the era of terrorist acts and all kinds of sabotage.
As can be seen from the contents of the picture, the Spaniards are very scared and live in anticipation of terror. Citizens are defenseless, completely unprepared for adequate solutions in the event of an attack, although the topic of threats from non-human terrorists is actively exaggerated in the press and on television.
So our heroes - casual visitors to an ordinary bar in the city center - suddenly found themselves in unpredictable circumstances to be destroyed because of a monstrous terrorist action.
We are witnessing a fierce struggle for life.
Driven by an animal instinct for self-preservation, these bewildered people forget their affections, their honor, their shame, their conscience in the face of the fear of being killed or buried alive. Every minute they are faced with a merciless choice of who to become the next victim.
Indeed, a wild situation in which individuals ' personalities' are likened to fascists or blood-sucking ticks.
The final scene of the indifferent current flow of people past the heroine, who has just visited hell, suggests that society is too divided by selfishness and criminally careless in implementing the task of preserving peace.
Chamber cinema is an excellent springboard for creating an inexpensive project, in which you can not only show outstanding story skills, but also squeeze all the juices even from little-known actors. Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia once again proves that he knows how to shoot a fun movie, from which it is difficult to break away. The author with surgical precision dissects the nature of human relationships, and “constrained” circumstances only help him in this.
A group of very different people by chance isolated in a cafe in Madrid. After all, a mysterious sniper awaits them outside the window, who kills anyone who dares to go out the door. Who is he? Did the choice fall on them? Is it possible to look for the source of the threat not from the outside, but from the inside? Whatever. Put a bum, a hipster and a beauty in one room for a while. They're killing each other.
The drive in this film is enough for a year of Russian film divisions. The actors play so selflessly and coolly that it becomes spit on small script flaws. Despite the thriller affiliation of the picture, you should be ready for comic situations, thrash and absurdity. How can you tell a story about human nature without mentioning religion? Don't worry! The homeless person will sprinkle quotes from the Bible so skillfully that it will even be difficult to recognize subtle author trolling. One thing is certain: the mask of a prosperous society will be thrown off.
“Wild story” is a fascinating, but hooligan spectacle, where satire and violence are organically combined. It is recommended to watch only in a good mood, otherwise you risk missing all the comedy that is happening on the grotesque screen.

Throughout its history, cinema has always been a truly unique art form. Not only entertaining the viewer and bringing their creators millions of dollars in their pockets, but also a unique platform for telling stories and raising topics that the viewer will listen to. Not superfluous proof of this was the next directorial project of the Spaniard Alex de la Iglesia.
The story begins with an ordinary and inconspicuous day. When a group of strangers who are completely different in character, past and role in society are held hostage to the four walls of a local bar. Something like this has already been done in a huge number of pictures, but the creators of the tape skillfully come out of the situation with an excellent intensification of mystery and an abundance of questions arising when viewing the picture. Who is this sniper and what does he want? Why don’t law enforcement agencies come to the rescue? Why isn't the cell phone working? All this and more, only tickles the brain when watching this tape.
Although far from the most original way, Alexa de la Iglesia builds on the screen a magnificent disclosure of each of the characters of the tape and this achieves an accurate hit to the goal of his main idea. After all, “Wild Story” is not a film about another brutal killer, a zombie or an epidemic of the virus, how much about each of us and explores humanity in his film “Alex de la Iglesia”. Very accurately reflecting the fact that each of us can change overnight under the influence of extreme and dangerous situations for our lives. Scoundrels and weaklings can become heroes. Heroes and good people wake up as the last scoundrels.
The director of the film Alexa de la Iglesia shot a very interesting and original product. The first half of the picture can be called perfect. For in a relatively short period of time, Iglasia easily achieves what he could not do in his film “The Witches of Sigarramurdi” – organically weave elements of comedy and horror film together. Therefore, it is not surprising that the film is not only implemented as a serious horror film with elements of a thriller, but also some mockery of the genre.
However, stepping over the equator of the narrative, the film begins to go strongly down the slope. Directing begins to suffer some irregularity, the creators of the film are trying to “twistle” and overwise with all their might, and the culmination of the picture is not as strong as expected from the very beginning.
Happily pleased with the game Mario Casas, who once again abstracted from his star image of Ache from "Three meters above sky level." Not only creating an extremely interesting image on the screen, which repeatedly changes under the influence of events taking place on the screen. Everyone else played so smoothly that you do not even want to single out anyone. Except for Jaime Ordoñez, who managed to create a very strong and truly disgusting image on the screen.

A wild story is another reflection on how much a person will change if he removes the mask of “showing”. Very original and interesting project, which remains so only the first half of the story and slowly losing its position closer to the logical finale. It is possible to see the picture once.
Sometimes I come across films like this that I don’t know if it’s worth my time. That was also the picture. I even had to do something forbidden to watch the trailer. But not all, only half a minute, it's usually enough for me to dispel doubts about whether to spend time on any particular movie or not. From those thirty seconds, I knew I was probably going to have a stupid, boring, low-budget thrash, and if I did, I wouldn't regret turning off my laptop. But in fact, it wasn't quite as I expected. It turned out better. This is what low expectations mean.
I love movies where a group of random or not completely different people are locked up in an enclosed space and their lives are in danger and they have to find a way out and stay alive. Wild history is just a vivid representative of this genre.
The first thing I liked and was unexpected was the incredibly fast pace of storytelling. It was because of him that I didn’t get bored. There is always something happening in the picture, there is always some dynamics, so it is completely unprotracted and devoid of dead scenes & #39; completely. The whole story takes place literally in one breath and almost does not give a break. It looks quite easy, despite the unpleasant and dirty scenes present in the tape. Easily she adds a kind of humor that makes me smile, which for some reason seasoned only the first half, and the last third and does look like a horror with a maniac madman. Strange approach to the script, but it has its own originality.
Unexpectedly, there was a very believable performance of the actors, and all without exception. Such vivid and lively emotions are shown by unfamiliar Spanish artists, to become a rabid narrative that I want to put them as an example to some Hollywood colleagues. They are also interesting and not boring to watch.
I also liked the Russian dubbing, I don’t know what the original sounds like, but our translation gave me real pleasure. As lively and sparkling as narrative and acting. Here both the other and the third correspond to each other. Maybe that’s why I got some jokes and jokes.
Anyway, the story is really wild. All the timekeeping on the screen there is some madness, with a share of thrash and drug addiction. And not everyone will like it, especially there are unpleasant and dirty scenes. I certainly didn't expect that from a Spanish movie with Spanish actors. That was a real surprise. It is only a pity that the second part of the picture and especially the last third came out weaker, more predictable, without humor, which was very similar to such a tape, became more similar to American with their beaten clichés and is not so impressive.

Talking people in confined spaces is my favorite genre in cinema. This format allows the author to focus on bright dialogues and interesting characters. Often, such films try to entertain the viewer (Ideal Strangers, The Name), dissect the human nature (Garage, August), or combine these directions (Massacre). The director of Wild History chose the third way. Did the Spaniard succeed?
The answer to the question is no. The plot is intriguing: a group of people is locked in a bar, and a sniper kills those who exit. The institution remained a diverse company: beauty, barmaid, hipster, waiter, homeless and others. But then the problems start. After the first third of the film, the script does not present a single unexpected twist – everything is quite predictable. The plot develops due to the stupid actions of the characters, which kills interest. And the attempt to open our eyes to the dirty tricks of the state turned out to be sluggish and unconvincing.
The only character you can empathize with is a bearded hipster. He alone develops and changes in the existing mess. The rest of the characters, unfortunately, are more decorations.
Verdict: as comedy is not funny, as satire is secondary.

Anyway, man is a capricious creature. We like to wait for the sun and warm weather in winter, and in summer complain about excessive aridity and endless zones. Together we form a unit of society. And it's the same society that strives to indulge our whims and whims, and you're a person, slowly and tastefully eating a sweet bun, washing down delicate macchiato, and at the same time relaxing your buns on a soft chair, burying yourself in the screen of a fancy tablet. Man quickly gets used to the good, and his long-standing animal instincts slumber quietly under a thick layer of laziness and carelessness. But what happens if a person is forced out of his comfort zone?
Introductory. You are in an ordinary city cafe, located in the center of your multimillion-dollar city. You are not distracted by the drumming of people at the next table, but calmly tune in with your strength for the day ahead, while quietly going through the compositions in the player. Suddenly, suddenly your attention, gets an elderly man in a business suit, who quickly steps out of the cafe, going on his office business. And all would be fine, but suddenly a sharp click, and in the same second, from all sides you can hear the exhausting screams and squeals of people from the street and cafe, and the lifeless body of an elderly office clerk spread out on the dirty asphalt. Not having time to move away from the shock, you watch as one of the visitors ran outside to help the dead, more comfortable to lie down. It is not known whether there was a hero ' in the ancestors of John Vane, but exactly two seconds later, the same sharp whistling click was heard, and the brains of the inglorious fool sprinkled red, the right side of the asphalt. There can be no doubt. Sniper's on. Target: Cafe visitors. The conclusion is to stay inside the establishment and join forces to try to survive. But it is here, in such moments of uncontrollable fear and panic, that people boil their blood and those long-forgotten animal instincts roar out. Now the enemy is not only outside, the enemy is inside. . .
With the work of the director Alex de la Iglesia, I am familiar because, having watched one of his, in my opinion, ambiguous film product, with a difficult to pronounce title ' Witches from Sugarramurdi'. However, ' Wild story' I liked it much more, I’m a huge fan, the relationship of people locked in a closed space, without any help from outside. I also add that in this picture, there is a very good share of humor, and various formations. The cast, I also liked. I would like to note, no, not publicized and adored by all Mario Casas, and the heroine Helena performed by a very attractive Blanca Suarez, and clumsy, but with a huge heart Satur (Secun de la Rosa), and of course I cannot, but mention the dirty ' Dog of the Apocalypse' Israel.
So, the film 'Wild story' is a great example of a psychological thriller, seasoned with outstanding humor, coupled with excellent acting. And even though the first half of the film, it seemed to me much more dynamic and logical, but it left very positive impressions. This film in its genre does not invent something new, it perfectly beats the old. And I'm grateful for that.
A co-program that is destined to become a cult, as we would not want.
At first, you don't have time to follow machine gun lines. The film is shot so cheerfully and confidently that sometimes the director simply drags in by inertia. And that's not surprising. And in some cases even forgivable.
The actors (note Blanca Suarez, who got directly into the sewer from TV) worked with monstrous heroism and dedication. Of course, again, it was not without lungs ' overdose' as in the case of a vagabond.
The camera work is great - some long scenes are made without editing glues in the spirit of Brian de Palma. The same can be said about the work of artists and decorators. But alas, you can not say about the scriptwriter - the plot is weak and far-fetched in places.
However, the notorious Spanish misanthrope, a confident creator of obviously cult films, the successor not so much to Buñuel as to his Macabri namesake Eloy, is quite content with this scenario. On the example of the population of Madrid to make a fairly thorough analysis of modern civilized society, at a moment losing its civilization.
There are questions for the film - cartoon characters and a poorly thought-out plot are not the smallest of them. But his main task is to keep the viewer, he somehow performs. And the final passage through the city, referring to the classic samples 'Euro cult of Cinema' will make to let tears of affection of more than one movie lover!
In many ways, such ' Delicacies' (albeit in the context of this tape it sounds extremely twofold), generously scattered throughout the film (plus - vestibly! - Senorita Suarez), and influenced his assessment in the end.

Alex de la Iglesia's film is intriguing when watching the trailer, captivating when watching the first 20-30 minutes, and then... And then you just watch and wait for it to end.
However, when I saw the trailer in the cinema hall, I thought that something original was coming out on the screens, because the situation itself and the dialogues that sounded there gave hope for this. A motley group of people find themselves in the same spot at the same time (roughly as in James Mangold’s Identity). These people have nothing to do with each other (perhaps or not), but they are all in mortal danger after an unknown shooter kills two people who came out of the same cafe. From now on, the beauty, hipster, gambler, homeless, cafe workers, a former cop and a merchant of things will have to fight for life, for the most part inside the cafe, because the reasons for this shooting lie inside.
I agree with one of the reviewers - the film is interesting to watch until a certain time, after which everything becomes less clear and the script without making sharp turns reveals all its cards. Something, by the way, this movie is like “The Separator” with Milo Ventimiglia – an enclosed space and people gradually going crazy.
It would be great if, in the film’s plot, the reason a group of people ended up in a café-trap was a little different than the one shown. The fact that all the boron cheese flared up slightly disappointed, to be honest.
As a result, after the first third of the picture is completed and the time comes to understand everything that is happening, the screen is able to hold only dialogue, sometimes full of sharp words. The director, having sown in the hearts of the audience intrigue, blows it very quickly because of which there is a certain disappointment.
At the same time, it is impossible not to mention the absurdity of the whole situation, which took place, because the behavior of people in the situation in which they found themselves, can only be called absurd. Take the character of Mario Casas, who suddenly decided to hide his backpack. Why? Why? Just as doubtful may seem the episode of trying to drown a man and the latter’s inability to resist and try to get rid of a potential killer.
The absurdity of the situation turns Wild Story into a story filled with many people’s mistakes, the absence of which could save them or at least protect them from rash actions. This absurdity, in general, along with the dialogue and makes you watch the film further – it is very interesting to know who will survive and what will happen in the future.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
I love Spanish cinema, even though I haven’t seen many people. There is something in him that is not inherent to anyone else. Let’s take Hollywood and imagine that they decide to shoot something similar to El Bar. Although why imagine, you can just remember the same “Phone Box” with Colin Frarrel. Something similar I was expecting to see. Oh, no. Not even close. And the phrase “the same eggs only in profile” will not be appropriate here. In Hollywood, with such a focus, with very rare exceptions, the viewer will be waiting for something very serious, or even with ambitions to explore (not mocking) human nature, and this is a pathetic 90-120 minutes.
Here everything is much simpler, but at the same time no less interesting. A non-standard situation is created, a certain number of random people are shoved into it. But the most surprising thing is that it soon becomes clear. Moreover, the explanation is given, firstly, logical, if leaving any questions, then exclusively on trifles, and secondly, very provocative. They say on TV is a complete lie, and the authorities have a bunch of secrets, to keep them secret, many innocent heads can fly.
Actually, the main characters, including a charming beauty, a homeless person who went to religion, an office plankton, a police officer fired for drunkenness and several other people who are not remarkable in terms of their daily activities, being in a similar situation, quickly become spit on the question “well, why me?” I would. Not to high matter. That's actually what they do. They are engaged, in my opinion, very believably, without going off the rails one by one at five minute intervals, as is often shown in something similar films.
At the same time, all seriousness, somehow amazingly borders on the cameraman and sound engineer absurdity, which, the authors seem to want to emphasize that in any madness you can and should keep your head and remain a person, even if, at best, you have to rejuvenate and bathe in impurities. And indeed, the survivor is the one who thought with his head (not only about himself), and did not succumb to panic and poked at all with a gun.
Well, what about the country of production and the difference between Spanish cinema and, the same, Hollywood – do they ever lie in the United States to make a film (I will be glad to be wrong), where a homeless man, like Jesus, with a trumpet, will run down the sewers for a half-naked glamorous girl and her fellow misfortune, while rash of quotes from the Bible mixed with sharp jokes. Unless it's a second-rate horror. And I would not hesitate to call El Bar a serious film, while filmed on complete relaxation.
Ah, how close was Alex de la Iglesia to the creation of a mini-masterpiece, the color that the director enriches his paintings in "Wild History" reaches its climax. The dialogue, the scenes, the work of the cameraman – so much in this film was at the height that it is hard to believe that this potential could be squandered.
Alex de la Iglesia has certainly gone overboard with the screenwriter, one sunny day a group of strangers stop for a cup of coffee, or for other needs, in an unremarkable cafeteria. And at one point, a sniper starts shooting on the exits of the bar, there are no people around, and salvation does not come. Almost perfect first half of the film, with several diverse twists and variations of genres.
Let it all boil down to a more banal idea in the end, but it could be played out better. It is obvious that as soon as the rules of the game for the viewer become known, the authors were in a deadlock - it seems to develop a story on which everything is already impossible, but also to leave the plot halfway will not be beautiful.
Hence the very weak denouement of the whole story, the motivation of the characters is absent, and as soon as the action of the film is transferred from the bar to the “lower” level, “Wild Story” loses any interest in viewing. Nevertheless, despite the great disappointment of this film and its unrealized potential, many should still find this tape fun and entertaining.
This picture is nothing special. Yes, the story came out really wild, because the director pursued his goals went through almost all known plot moves. Here you and terrorism, perhaps just a maniac, there is a petty religious muddle, power that spit on everything and everything, a deadly virus, classic quarantine and human nature in all its glory. All for the sake of moral degradation.
Every person in an extreme situation behaves differently. If your life is at stake, all decency is forgotten. The viewer is given the opportunity to admire themselves, giving a sober account of what is not almost better than these psychos. It is important to be honest, otherwise the viewing will be useless.
This is the second work of this director I saw, the first was ' Day of the Beast' where he also demonstrated moral decline, but only with greater imagination, with rich irony and even a couple of good jokes. But ' Wild story' turned out to be dynamic, but it clearly lacked directorial taste, charm, everything is very narrow in semantic presentation. The film can be seen, but it will not be remembered for long.
Alex de la Iglesia is a real hooligan of Spanish cinema, continuing the traditions of such mastodons of Spanish satire as Buñuel and Almodovar. In “Wild History” (localization of the Russian distributor refers just to the production project of Pedro A., who from Argentina two years ago was nominated for the “Oscar”) the heroes were placed in a closed space and gave them unclosed characters. The bus is lost and it is time for passengers to leave.
“In each sleeps the beast. Don't wake him up, the tagline for "Wild Stories" read. Recently, this slogan applies to many films – from “High-High-High-High” and the upcoming “Experiment “The Office” and ending with the main Euro-hit of the year “Perfect Strangers”, although there, probably, the vices were just human, without animal grinding.
“Wild story” is painfully relevant – there is a shot, there is panic, the search for special services, then reactions and consequences. Behind the shell of the B-Movie hide bright images, the theater of the absurd and surs. In the underworld, the most nimble and cunning survives its laws - such a lucky case.
Particularly sensitive people are recommended to prepare for different substances - the story of Iglesia really turned out wild - provocative, with a healthy and not very much thrash and frenzy. Stock up on strong drinks. Or is it propaganda for the forbidden? That's the relevance...
