I don't know what I'm saying. The film is about a teenage girl at the peak of puberty, when there is a lot of interesting and unusual things happening around, but for you everything is for the first time, familiar things change shapes, and new contours are too blurred to form any clear image. And all this search is accompanied by a wild outburst of energy: you can’t control your emotions, no one understands you, parents are not at all happy that you don’t want to play with dolls and do everything to spite, teachers have put an end to you and just dismiss you as an insect. The beginning of the film turned out to be so screaming and emotional that at one point I even wanted to stop watching, but, overpowering myself, continued and as a result did not regret the time spent.
The film is about what it means for a harmful teenager to find his kind and patient mentor (a new teacher in French language and literature) and direct the pressure of his energy to noble deeds - literature and music. A kind grandmother, with whom you can talk about everything, is also an important phenomenon in the maturation of a obstinate young maid. In the course of the film, a subtle metamorphosis occurs: a clumsy wreck gradually turns into an interesting girl, her features are ennobled, and the look is filled with meaning.
The Russian viewer will be interested in the episode when the older sister brings her boyfriend, Vladimir, to Christmas dinner and announces that they have decided to get married. The reaction of parents is quite eloquent, she is directed deliberately grotesquely, which only adds to her piquancy. If Vladimir (Vladushka, as his beloved calls him) was a homeless Kosovo Albanian, a Senegalese drug dealer or an Arab pogromist from Saint-Denis, or a mixture of all three taken, the audience would smile sweetly and within the framework of tolerance would accept the choice of the future bride. With Vladimir, as an older brother, you can behave in your own way and not be ashamed of anything. The reaction of different generations, which actually shows the balance of moods in modern French society in relation to Russia, is also interesting. Epic episode, for him alone worth watching the movie.
Verdict: soulful cinema, not boring, topical, little-known, from everyday French life. It will be interesting to all, and young, and not so much, parents to the analysis.
