The fact that the Chinese are able to shoot spectacular and beautiful fantasy, and especially according to their native myths and legends, there is no doubt for a long time. Here is the “League of the Gods”, based on the novels of Xu Zhonglin, from the very first frames demonstrates a visual feast. Incredible entourage, colorful costumes, epic and inventive action, staged with fiction and imagination, and a whole heap of cool characters performed by a star cast. The pace of the film is just frantic, and sometimes there is no time to catch your breath, although lyrical pauses are certainly there. The graphics in the film are made above all praise - the bestiary and the surrounding world look matchless. Of course, there are sins like working with the backs and small irregularities, but given 2016 and the pace (already then) the Chinese are pulling up the technical level, still everything looks very cool and colorful. From the artists stands out as usually divinely beautiful Fan Bingbing in the role of the villain of the Nine-tailed Fox and the funny Jet Lee in the unusual role of a gray magician (he is in the center on the poster). Veterans Luis Ku and Tony Leung Ka Fai also look good in villainous images, although their roles are not particularly large. In general, fans of spectacular, fabulous and coolly filmed fantasy with unusual characters and entourage can not think of a better gift. Very well done!
Initially, a whole cycle was planned for these works, but an expensive film at the box office failed miserably and all plans for sequels were curtailed. The film, like “The Hobbit” or “Lord of the Rings”, completes the mini-site in the final (the battle is won, but the war lies ahead), but the global line was left without a final, which did not prevent me from enjoying watching.
