The new abode of the damned In 2012, a group of documentary filmmakers travel to the abandoned Kane Hill Hospital, known for its numerous mysterious murders, to make a film about these strange murders, which many believe was behind Chester Lockhart - one of the patients of this hospital. In a psychiatric hospital many years ago there was a fire, most of the patients burned, then it was closed.
Mocumentary horror film genre, pseudo-documentary. A little similar in plot to the movie "Grave Seekers", but without evil spirits.
The plot is quite long, the first part of the film is calm, documentary filmmakers discuss joint actions, meet a girl-expert on Kane Hill named Mary. Six people (producer Leonard, director Richard, his assistant Steve, cameraman Marcus, video camera specialist Mike and urban legend researcher Mary) come straight to Kane Hill, install equipment there and prepare to wait. What? Apparently a poltergeist. We waited for ghosts, but found something else.
Kane Hill is a low-budget movie for unassuming fans of slashers, you can watch it once and forget it. I think the creators did not manage to initially create the desired atmosphere of horror and mystery, and as a result, there is no suspense and no dynamism of the plot and there is not enough running and killing.
The dark building of the hospital inspires a certain fear, especially the basement. What seemed absurd to me was the moment when a man with a stab wound to the stomach managed to survive and move around. The fight scenes are not realistic. Directness and simplification of the plot is one of the main disadvantages of the picture.
The soundtrack was not particularly impressed, a little surprised by the use of metalcore, as a soundtrack.
I liked the actress who played Mary, Hannah Jacobs, but rather outwardly - a pretty face and a good figure. I haven't seen any acting. Fear and despair are not convincing.
In the end, information is provided, as if confirming the reality of the facts. A typical mocumentary trick.
The original idea of the film is not bad, but, as stated, the incompleteness and primitivism of the plot, as well as a small budget prevented it from reaching the maximum logical conclusion.
The story of Chester Lockhart himself remains undisclosed. I remember the movie, which in the plot is similar to this – “I see no evil.” But there was more blood and suspense there.
