Jedi revenge Long before the First Galactic Empire, whose leader almost completely destroyed the Jedi Order, the vast expanses of the Old Republic protected thousands of Knights of the Light Side with incredible abilities. Through training at the Temple in Coruscant, the capital, and on many distant planets where the Great Power was found, the Jedi learned a universal truth based on the eternal balance of Light and Darkness. According to the established Code, the adepts of the Order were to drive away strong emotions, rely solely on the Force and never desire anything more, material and attractive, otherwise their aspirations could lead to darkness tearing the soul apart. There have been many Jedi in history who have embraced the Sith doctrine, but the Dark Side has never gained supremacy, as the disciples, blinded by the amazing power, were unable to cope with their desires, and turned against each other in bloody battles, which the Jedi could not but take advantage of. Nevertheless, the doctrine of the Dark Side, which was based on the insidious Sith, brought to the Galaxy a lot of pain and lamentation, which still echo through the centuries, recalling ancient nightmares that tend to arise out of nowhere at the most inopportune moment.
The cinematic universe of George Lucas, started by the creator in 1977, only briefly described the events taking place in the distant past, since the main action was aimed at revealing the secrets of the family of Anakin Skywalker, a promising Jedi knight who defected to the Sith camp of Darth Sidious. The concept of the development of the Saga on the big screens, adopted by Lucas, left no chance to overcome the barrier of millennia and plunge into the long history of the Galaxy Far, Far, Far away, but the director himself was not averse to the fans of his creation to learn what the history of Star Wars is based on. Having given a fatherly blessing to the creation of numerous branches of full-length Episodes in the so-called Expanded Universe, Lucas thereby poured fresh blood into his multifaceted plot, getting in Lucasfilm really talented authors, for decades working faithfully for the benefit of the mythology of Star Wars. The first attempts to reveal the secrets of the distant past of the Lucas Galaxy occurred at the beginning of the century, when the lightsabers of the “Knights of the Old Republic” burst on monitors around the world, giving us a meeting with such notorious heroes as Darth Revan and Bastilla Shahn. Further research millennia ago continued in a series of comics and books by Drew Karpyshyn. And as the crown of the development of the forgotten history of “Star Wars”, the developers of computer games of the highest category released a multiplayer online game “Old Republic”, allowing you to explore the world of George Lucas as thoroughly as possible.
In addition to the official Canon, reverently built in the bowels of Lucasfilm, fans of “Star Wars” with amazing stability remove their own crafts based on their favorite work, thereby paying tribute to George Lucas and his incredible fantasy that lights the heart. Independent short films flirting with the history of the Galaxy Far, Faraway began to be shot immediately after the release of A New Hope, which marked the beginning of the legendary Saga, and with the years following the clumsy, but such charming attempts to play a plot about the rebels and the Empire, followed by truly extraordinary and noteworthy creations, marked by high-quality special effects, non-linear plot and worthy acting works of unknown artists who dreamed of at least somehow getting into their favorite Star Wars. He did not give up trying to put his own work in the style of the works of George Lucas and Tim Hong, an amateur director whose name is completely unknown to a wide audience. Taking as a basis the history of the Old Republic of a thousand years ago, Hong titled his creation as “Star Wars: Vengeance”, telling the audience the unexplored pages of the Saga, not contradicting the famous Canon.
So, the plot of the film unfolds during the endless wars of the Jedi and Sith, who almost destroyed the Galaxy in an effort to protect their own ideals. the main character of Star Wars: Vengeance is a knight of the Light Order with a difficult fate. Long-term battles against the eternal enemies shattered the unshakable faith of the Jedi in the final victory of the defenders of freedom, but he still cannot betray his native Order. Too many innocent people and foreigners have been killed by the scarlet blades of the Sith, for which they must be punished. While flirting with the trends of the Dark Side, the hero nevertheless keeps himself within strict limits, not letting the insidious Sith teachings come to his heart, but sometimes it is simply impossible to remain reasonable and impartial when war strikes you with a strikingly calibrated blow. The rapid raid of the Darth Kali detachment on the peaceful settlement of the Republic carries the sister of the hero to the grave, and he has no choice but to disobey the warnings of the Council, getting involved in the pursuit of dishonest conquerors. Tracking Kali from one planet to another, the Jedi gets closer to a fateful duel, while not forgetting to administer fair justice wherever it is needed. The Knight of Light has very close to the darkness, but he is not going to dissolve in it.
Tim Hong’s tape stands out against the background of similar amateur paintings by a detailed study of the narrative, revealing the image of the main character from various sides, the Director and his colleagues came up with a really interesting Jedi who managed to combine the features of both Orders, which largely untied his hands. The fettering doctrine of the Jedi has no power over the story described in Star Wars: Vengeance, and this circumstance gives the work of Tim Hong an additional appeal. The path of Jedi revenge is narrated in dramatic, emotional language. We see that the hero sometimes does not act as one would like, his actions are not without cruelty, and yet he has nothing to blame, because he has gone through more than one battle and deserves to commit his little personal revenge despite the condemning opinion of the senior masters. Also pleased with the work of Tim Hong on numerous supporting characters, constantly catching the eye of the Jedi. Each of them brings something original to the plot, allowing you to learn a little more about this particular story and the Star Wars Galaxy as a whole.
In the end, I want to say that Star Wars: Vengeance is a very worthy work that feels great in a neatly designated place, coming from the long history of Star Wars. The bias in the development of the character of the main character and increasing drama is beneficial to the tape, and some shortcomings in terms of technical performance are more than paid off by competently staged dramaturgy. Tim Hong built an attractive narrative in the best traditions of blazing revenge fighters, and at the same time did not let the audience down on the exact recreation of the unique style of the Saga of George Lucas. The viewing must be enjoyable.
