Weird movie... ... to God, very strange... and boring.
In general, if you look closely at the cover, you can already find the first strangeness there, namely the inscription " from the directors "Eaters" and "Zombie Massacre"". I would understand if this film was devoted to the same subject and would develop some outstanding ( or not very ) ideas that were laid down in these tapes, but :
First, I do not know about you, and personally I do not recall that the previous works of these directors would have caught my eye at all, let alone make some impression, and secondly, “The Morning Star” has nothing to do with zombie horrors, that is, there is no question of any continuity.
However, this is probably not important, let’s omit the undistinguished biography of the creators and discuss the film directly.
To be honest, I absolutely did not understand what the authors wanted to say. The film clearly has a claim to some arthouse, allegory and depth of thought, but it is implemented so poorly that I can not clearly formulate for myself the idea of the writers personally, although I can remember the confusion of what is happening on the screen.
The plot in its murky essence is a collection of some obscure, but fantastic majestic scenes connected with each other except that wandering with the corpse of a comrade on a rope, the main character and characters appearing in his way, and even then the same people can be different heroes, which ultimately makes what is happening even more messy. Perhaps I did not understand something, but the motivations of people appearing on the screen are not clear to me, and the adequacy of their actions seems doubtful. By the way, about people, or rather actors.
It should be noted that all characters without exception have their own certain charisma, and the types on appearance are selected for a solid five. Of the performers of the roles that could come across the viewer before, there is only Adrian Boucher, but he mostly appeared in the roles of the second, or even the third plan, because hardly anyone remembered. However, this does not mean that the game of him or his colleagues on the court is bad - not outstanding, but quite reliable and sufficient. And all would be well, if not frankly weak work with sound, which made the voices of the characters dry and in addition, the lack of adequate voice environment, which makes it seem that the characters of the film are in a soundproof studio. At the same time, there is no smell of full-fledged musical accompaniment here, which negatively affects the atmosphere of the film and only aggravates boredom during viewing.
And here is this incompleteness, a swing at something big, but the inability to implement it more at the proper level, dampness and, in some places, negligent attitude to detail - depressing. Speaking of details, I mean, for example, that throughout the film, there are corpses in chain mail and swords stuck in the ground... seriously? Considering that in the Middle Ages, in the realities of which the action takes place, chain mail and even more a good sword cost a fortune... though, fine. In the end, the producer of the film is Uwe Ball, which still means something.
In conclusion, I note that despite the lack of a clear translation, the English in the film is quite primitive and some deep knowledge is not required to understand the dialogues, so I think the school level will be quite enough for anyone who wants to join this tape. Question: Is it worth it? I don't think so. Unless you are a fan of movies about knights, arthouse or mysticism, in these cases it makes sense to make your own opinion about the picture.
And it is also important to emphasize that "Morning Star" is not bad, although in my opinion it is rather boring.
