This is a touching story about three teenagers who became a friend of listmasters. It's been a long time since drama touched me so much. For a long time, dramas have not inspired me.
I don’t know what the magic of Listmaster is, whether in its duration, or in an incredibly thought-out scenario, or in a soundtrack, or in strong characters, but after this series I want to live, I want to create, I want to go on.
This is the story of three teenagers who have lost their meaning in life. All they had was their talent and success, but one moment, and all their efforts turn into nothing. How do we move on? What? For what? Is it worth it at all?
Yoon Yoo Seul (Kim Soo Hyun) is a pianist from God, a genius who was able to play a complex piece from the first time, as a little girl. Since then, her mother, who had nothing in her life, put her whole life into developing her daughter’s talent. But it is one thing to encourage talent and help it develop, and another to put pressure on the shoulders of a young child who wants to see and try everything in the world, but he is only forced to study, train and learn. As a result, a girl who has never ridden a bicycle in her life or been to the zoo will simply hate her mother because she does not understand whose life she is living, her own life she dreams of, or the life of a mother who was never destined to become a reality.
I’ve seen Kim Soo Hyun before in School 2015, Princess Dok Hae, and Tokkabi, but here... this girl is just inimitable. She will show the viewer a real heroine, burdened with her talent and unfulfilled hopes of her mother, and a brilliant pianist, a strong personality, happy only from doing her own thing, despite everything.
Jong Che-shik (Ji Soo). I was most worried about this hero. Like Yu Seul, he lost everything at his peak. What does it mean to lose the meaning of life overnight? Lose my life's work? For years to believe you're going to be great, to be great, and to go straight down to the bottom? What's it like not being able to do the only thing you know how to do? It was with this character that I cried for three hours. It shows that a fall is always followed by a rise, but it requires an unlimited desire and willingness to give all your strength. This, far from being the smartest boy, who was an outstanding athlete, suddenly decides to become a great musician, and he succeeds. Moreover, it shows us the wonders of humanity, the strength of spirit and the power of the desire to change their destiny. I even believe that not three teenagers became listmasters for each other, but Che Shik was able to change the lives of the other two guys.
With Ji Soo, I was also familiar from Scarlet Hearts of Goryeo and Strong Woman Do Bong Sung, but he was always in the background for me, and here he embodied an incredibly strong hero who is able to inspire not only the characters of this wonderful story, but also the viewer who lost his way. And if I am now asked what kind of movie hero I would like to equal, then without hesitation I will say that Che Shik.
And finally, Son Jin Mok, the son of a wealthy family who was always indulged and told that he was a genius. When he meets Yu Seul, a more talented pianist, he loses faith in himself. Gene Moka is consumed by envy and self-doubt that prevents him from developing. But Che Shik, a boy who knows as much about music as Jean Mok does about pole jumping, who believes he can conquer the world and learn what others learn for years, helps him believe in his abilities.
This unforgettable and intense story will last only three hours, but will break into the heart stronger than many twenty-episode dramas and two-hour films. I am sure that I will return to this series not once, not even two, because it is better to find a cure for doubting whether you are on the right path.
I may be an ordinary piano teacher, but I love to play the piano. I don’t care if I’m a teacher in ten years. It is more important for me to lie in bed thinking about what a wonderful day I had. It would be nice to be a famous pianist, but even if I don't, it's okay. My next ten years will be happy for me because I will do what I love.
