Brother. The Father taught us to live honestly and according to conscience.
The script of this picture is written well and to the smallest detail, here the slightest nuances are not forgotten. And Olivier Marshal's performance is absolutely admirable! If it were not a television movie, but a fiction movie, I would give it all 10. Such a life story is really worthy of the big screen and captures you from the very first minutes. And the feeling of experience and indignation about the injustice happening on the screen, by the end of the film only grows, causing the viewer strong emotions. And happy ending, like the Americans, you will not see here. But the drama of the story gives it even more truth. Unfortunately, this is a slice of life not only in France, but also in our modern world. Where such words as honor and conscience have long been forgotten for the sake of self-interest and fear for their position.
Now a few words about the actors. What struck me most, of course, was Olivier Marshal. The stamp of life experience on his face is more verbose than any emotion. And such honest, silent, weary heroes, played in his time Lino Ventura. And he looks a lot like him in that. This is a man and a real older brother, whose personality cannot but be respected. And you sympathize with him with hope until the end. His bitterness for his younger brother, words cannot convey, but it is enough to look into his eyes. Therefore, to the undoubted directorial talent of Marshall (he is now one of the best directors in his homeland), you can safely add worthy acting qualities.
Mikael Yun, perfectly played a cowardly rich hen hen hen. As the movie progresses, you literally hate the character. His speech at the funeral was especially hypocritical.
Natasha Lindinger, I remember from the film with Van Damme “Double Team”. And although, especially she did not stand out for the game, but she created a portrait of the “heroine of our time” well. This unscrupulous bitch, blinded by her wealth and position, is ready to do anything for it. She has nothing sacred. Unfortunately, there are a lot of women like that.
And I would also like to note, in a small role, the oldest French actor Philippe Naon. This “powerful old man” played with Melville.
