When, due to the excess of the norm of Viagra in the body, blood poured from the brain of screenwriter and director Stefan Robeli, he had the idea to urgently implement the only thing that was on his mind then - hot ideas and bright images caused by the pills taken.
To take the main role decided no one, and the legend of the movie - Pierre Richard, to somehow smooth out what is happening on the screen and to draw attention to the star. And, perhaps, he was just forced to star in it, because the poor fellow had to try on the role of the main puppet and maniac of all France. George Harvey from Pretty Bones.
And now the dry facts (spoilers).
This seemingly harmless old man first thing after he learned what the Internet is, created a fake account on a dating site and, writing to all the young girls available there, lured his victim on a blind date. Using a dummy in his place, he was in the immediate vicinity of what was happening. Dressed in a characteristic long cloak and distraught by the blood pouring into the cloak, the old man wanted to see and hear all the details of what was happening in the smallest detail.
Unable to personally “process” the victim, the old man lures her to his home under a false pretext. Ready to drink and bring the girl out of the conscious state for further "experiences", the old man smiles, jokes, hangs noodles on his ears and puts on the mask of an adequate elder in every possible way.
Failure again. The blood in the cloak does not recede, and the old man decides to share his victim with the same dummy and use her sympathy together. It's like smoking a cigarette for two in an episode of the movie. So that the film does not go to the rating of 18+ Richard throw some grandmother from the sky and the movie to cheerful music ends.
Everything else that you will be shown in the film is textured dirt, which tried to smear the skeleton described above. All this drama about the hero Pierre Richard, some family situation, some values and morals ... will fly past your ears and past your minds like plywood over Paris.
Mourning about his wife, with whom he lived for 50 years? - Not really. He hangs himself on any woman willing to see what he has under his cloak. Is this the image of a wise family elder we deserve? I really hope not.
The only positive character in the film is Richard’s daughter. She takes care of her father, feeds and cares for him. Gives shelter to all the other rascals. All the other heroes are the last scum and bastards. They don't deserve a hepi end. They're not worthy of him.
Why did they make this movie? Who's it for? Personally, it seemed to me that it was removed for the anniversary of Pierre Richard as a gift. After all, in this film, he seduces a young woman and, like a driven horse, is ready to spoil more than one furrow, thank God, Shelmets can still! At worst, I’m ready to sit quietly in the closet to watch, dressed in Superman.
It is good that Viagra does not last forever. After reaching for another pill, the director was horrified to find that the resource of creativity ran out. Greedily licking the jar, he somewhere put an end and ran to the pharmacy for an extra. The ending in comedy should always be happy.
This is a good comedy about an old widower Pierre Stein (played by Pierre Richard), whose daughter decided to give him her old computer and with the help of her daughter Alex's friend to teach him how to use it. If at first Pierre Stein reacted to this without any enthusiasm, then after a short time he found a dating site there and made an acquaintance with a beautiful girl Flora from Brussels, however, in his profile he indicated his age and posted a photo of just that friend of his granddaughter Alex, who taught him, however, making him a sinist, and he was a novice writer. Pierre wrote heartfelt letters to Flora, which interested her, since she, as a widow, saw in him a man who had experienced a similar tragedy of the loss of a loved one. Well, then it was time for them to meet, and he hit Alex again, making things even more complicated. However, in the end, the situation was resolved in the best way for everyone, and Pierre Alex and Flora on the same dating site on the same scheme of correspondence from a stranger found a pleasant lady by age.
A very nice French comedy, of course, about love, about how my grandfather met a young woman on the Internet, sent on a date instead of a dude, he, of course, fell in love with a young woman, and all that. It looks good and light and makes you smile after watching.
Plot. Pierre is an old man, lives alone after the death of his wife, the family does not remember him often, he is lonely. Sylvia, his daughter, brings him her old laptop to entertain her father. He doesn’t know what a computer is, much less the Internet. Sylvia has another problem: Alex, her daughter’s boyfriend, who lives with them and never finds a job. Alex has a creative crisis, he's a writer. In order for Dad to have more fun and Alex to get off her neck, Sylvia brings the two together. Alex's job is to teach Pierre how to use a computer. Suddenly, they form a friendship, and Alex understands Pierre better than his own family. And Pierre quickly masters the computer, and uses it well enough to find a girlfriend on the Internet. Only a girlfriend doesn't know the whole truth. Nothing until the girl asks for a personal meeting. After all, Pierre's letters captured her heart. .
Actors. Pierre Richard is no doubt a master, it’s great that he continues to act. Fanny Valette (Flora), Pierre's lover, is so charming that it is impossible not to fall in love with her, and finally Yannis Lesper (Alex) is very convincing. I really thought I'd see a threesome. But everything is more or less decent and very romantic.
A love story that happens when you don’t expect it at all. Aesthetics and field photography. I haven’t been to Europe for a year and I miss those days. Paris, cozy Brussels, small cafes with delicious coffee, fresh croissants, the best wine and cheese with ripe pears, open-air markets. France is about feeling. It was like I was there and walked through those streets. Thank you for that.
I’m not going to watch the movie, but thank you for that. Richard is a master.
It was nice to know that the legendary actor Pierre Richard is still filming. A great good French comedy that makes you not only smile, but also think.
Funny. All the films that Pierre Richard plays are funny and a little crazy twisted. Go instead of the old man on a date is his young computer teacher. You have to make love instead of him. But as a result, everyone falls in love and is happy.
Romanticism is in many French films, France itself is a kind of symbol of romance. This is the country that gave the world the novels 'The Three Musketeers' and 'Notre Dame Cathedral' films 'Scherburg Umbrellas' 'The Magnificent Angelique' and 'The Tall Blonde in a Black Shoe'
All these films are great classics of French cinema. Are there any films in modern cinema that are able to convey that romanticism again?
'Mr. Stein Goes Online' is one such film.
Seventy-five-year-old widower Pierre Stein (Pierre Richard) leads a secluded lifestyle. He has a daughter, but the memories of the past, which, alas, is already behind and unique, among which one of the brightest moments was the love for his wife, make the experiences sad.
To somehow distract a man from sad memories, brighten up his leisure, his relatives buy him a computer with access to the Internet. Mr. Stein has a young teacher, Alex, to teach him how to work with modern technology. Not all, but many of Stein’s peers are critical of the Internet, modern technologies, Stein may be, but the new one can be really necessary, interesting, exciting. You should not reject it.
So, Mr. Stein is going online. We can assume that he will be interested in political news, science, technology, history, websites dedicated to his profession. But what a surprise and surprise when Mr. Stein gets on a dating site and does not hurry to leave from there. On the dating site questionnaire of women of Balzac age - about thirty years. They are in the prime of life, beautiful, beautiful, have inner warmth, a need for love that is not shared.
And it is surprising that he decides to start correspondence with one of the participants, with whom they have a kind of warmth, understanding each other at a distance.
Only Stein put another photo and changed one digit: three by eight. Which changed a lot.
But when this girl Gloria wants a date without a computer, how will he have to get out of the situation, because to retreat is already bold and sad.
Go from Paris to Brussels. And the date will take place. Who will be sitting at the same table with Gloria? And who looks out from behind the window, then be at the next table?
Young actress Fanny Valette in the image of Gloria managed to convey the charm, tenderness, sophistication of a woman of Balzac age, when it is a little over thirty, everything is not smooth and painless behind, but she managed to keep this faith in the bright and the best. That it could still be ahead of us.
Pierre Richard in the image of Mr. Stein surprised in this film. In his extensive creative filmography, many works as a comedian, images that cause laughter, tenderness and sympathy ('Unlucky', 'Daddy'), dramatic roles ('Party in Chess', 'Without Family'), the image of the strong Robinson Crusoe. There are more melodramas in this film than comedies. And he created a different kind of hero. A man who has aged according to the law of nature, because the time has come, but has not aged his soul, without also losing faith and hope. Proving that seventy-five years in the past may not be everything. It is important kindness, spirituality, the ability not to abuse such an occasion. The inner light of goodness and warmth that comes from Stein’s soul, from Pierre Richard himself. When they persist, everything is possible, and the words: 'I love you' will be the best reward.
This film perfectly conveys the atmosphere of Paris, modern Paris, Brussels - Europe in the beauty of traffic on the streets of a big city, the metro, the quiet coast of the sea, the interior of rooms.
Through all this penetrates the tender music of Vladimir Kosma, familiar and native from somewhere in the past.

Stefan Robelie’s film Mr. Stein Goes Online (2017) could have been missed if it weren’t for two circumstances. Firstly, the topic of older people, which is increasingly heard in modern literary and cinematographic discourse, is again raised here; and secondly (perhaps this is even paramount), it is Pierre Richard in the lead role.
So, everything in order. "Mr. Stein Goes Online" is a romantic comedy whose slogan is "The Story of Cyrano de Bergerac in the Age of Google." Everything from the title to the sypopsis promises a lot of funny situations and comedy positions. But if everything was so obvious, perhaps an artist like Pierre Richard would not participate in a banal film. Yes, there are funny moments in this film, and this part of the plot is tied to the age of the protagonist and his attempts to understand the laws of the Internet space. But otherwise, this is a very easy, but touching and deep story of the search for a way out of loneliness by all three main characters: Pierre Alex and Flora.
Of course, Pierre Richard here, as an experienced leader, leads his pack, that is, the cast to victory – to persuasiveness and artistic authenticity. He's a kind of Akela, but never missed. How easy it would be for both the actor and the director to try to repeat the image fixed for the actor, and thereby voluntarily or unwittingly go into a caricature of himself. But this was avoided, and Pierre Richard appeared in the form of a stylish, intelligent, slightly adventurous, slightly feral old man. His late love could also be made absurd, but this topic is presented as delicately as possible, and the drop of irony present in it only confirms this delicacy. Perhaps another secret of such a presentation of the image of the protagonist lies in the two partners between whom Pierre and develop a relationship: it is Yannis Lesper in the role of Alex and Fanny Valette in the role of Flora. And in the characters themselves, and in the manner of their performance by artists, there is some special tact in relation to the older hero and partner.
Returning to the main theme of the film “Mr. Stein Goes Online”, it should be noted once again that the problems of the elderly, their adaptation to the world and the ability to live a full life are an important part of the art of today. And if in literature this sounds powerfully today in the works of the French writer Anna Gavald, then in the movies such films raise these questions. It's very important to say that behind all these social problems of older people, movies like "Mr. Stein Goes Online," "The Quartet," or "The Marigold Hotel: The Best of the Exotic," whether it's comedy or drama, there's actually one thing to say. That the heart does not age, no matter how many wrinkles decorate the face. At any age, a person expects love and tenderness. The fact that age is only a number, no matter how banal it may sound. And this figure does not mean that the spiritual life of man is now limited by something, it only means that wisdom and life experience are now added to “the riot of the eyes and the flood of feelings.”
A very warm experience after watching this new French comedy.
Since childhood, I have been a fan of Pierre Richard and was a little upset that the master of French comedy almost never appeared on the screen. This is such a gift!
The film turned out to be truly French, with its charm, unhurried rhythm and romance.
The young protagonist, Alex, is not brutal at all, rather he is even a melancholic writer who is in crisis. And now, starting to interact with a kind of old man Pierre (the second main character), he is drawn into a love story. Very cute, romantic, though with lies.
I liked that everything happens gradually, slowly, there are no crazy changes in scenery and 36 frames per second, which we see now in almost any film. In the process, Alex prioritizes and chooses the woman who accepts him for who he is, even with a little cheating. Pierre also gets in the end what he wanted, along the way mastering the Internet and dating sites.
I must say that it was high technology that gave Pierre a second breath and inspiration, introducing him to a beautiful girl from Brussels.
All the actors played great, you look at them and see real people from this world, who somewhere did something for their happiness, and somewhere luck helped for past merits.
Pierre Richard himself is incomparable, fire in his eyes, gray hair only gave a color, now he is not a rosette who constantly knocks on shoals and falls on the floor, but a sage who ironies himself.
I really liked that everyone in this film is winning, a full happy ending, the perfect movie to watch under a blanket on a winter evening with a girl or a favorite cat.

The film is actually about a funny old man, but here and there flash scenes from the life of modern society.
The granddaughter of the main character is completely drunk trying to sit on his roller. It is funny until you think that she could drive into someone on the sidewalk (and he would stay there until the morning, when, as they say, it would be too late for first aid) or unsuccessfully move head down from the overpass.
More. Her boyfriend left for China (Erasmus exchanges, for example, last up to a year) to “pump up” his career – he was immediately replaced. But the replacement failed in terms of career, so the friend quickly returned.
Next. A new couple moves in with her parents. I understand writers don't start making money right away, but moving in with someone's parents?? Why not rent an apartment with students?
Next. Well, the guy cheats on his new girlfriend, she discusses it with his ex on Skype.
And there's no hype around this whole chess game, that's kind of how it should be.
And then they wonder what the grandfather locked himself in his apartment from all over the world. .
The 75-year-old widower leads a secluded lifestyle. Relatives give him a computer in the hope to revive the everyday life of the old man. Soon he makes an online acquaintance, however, somewhat embellishing the data of his profile. Elegant conversation, unusual to modern people, he is very interested in a young beautiful woman. How to avoid exposure in person?
A soul movie. Gentle and touching. Cinema for people who are tired of empty glossy pictures. Love and drama that you believe in. Separately, I would like to mention Pierre Richard, a legend not only of French cinema, but of the whole world cinema, which has only improved over the years.
“Mr. Stein Goes Online” is a great movie for family and couples in love, a good viewing.

A lovely film, French from beginning to end. It is difficult to call it a comedy, there is not much funny at all, but the picture turned out to be kind and touching.
Not too lucky writer Alex meets the beautiful Juliet. It is difficult for him to ensure the requests of his girlfriend, and the girl's mother offers him a part-time job - to teach the basics of computer literacy to her old father. Alex has no choice but to agree to become a computer babysitter for an odd-looking old man.
And here we meet a student, whose role was played by the famous French actor Pierre Richard. The tall blonde in the black boot has aged, changed, but has not lost its naive charm. His hero, also called Pierre, is a widower who has recently lost his wife and every taste for life. The Internet is a window into another world, an attempt to make new friends. On a dating site, he meets Flora, a young woman with a difficult fate. Flora insists on a personal meeting, but Pierre does not dare to appear before her as it is. He persuades Alex to go on a date instead of him.
Next is a typically French sitcom with unexpected meetings, sudden calls and surprised relatives. It is nice that with so many different clichés characteristic of comedy melodramas, the film manages to preserve its face and individuality.
In the center of the plot is the story of Mr. Stein - a 75-year-old widower who in his old age decided to master the Internet and exploring its expanses, he stumbles upon an online dating site and decides to try his luck, while slightly embellishing his personal data. Using his vast experience, worldly wisdom and courtesy in communicating with the female sex, he gets acquainted with a young girl, and then the question arises how to avoid exposure if a girl wants to meet?
We can say that in this scenario it is easy for all of us to guess the well-known story of Cyrano de Bergerac, the truth transferred to the modern era of the Internet, forming a love triangle with a very extraordinary development of events, which is very curious to observe.
At the exit, we have a light, kind and soulful drama, with a subtle and pleasant, and sometimes ironic humor and a romantic story, which can be said to be a little old-school, that according to the current quality of films of this genre, it is even pleasant, and in combination with Pierre Richard, who is still charming, but already gray-haired and a little naive, "tall blonde" pleasantly, add here wonderful music to the film, which was written by Vladimir Cosma, which is more familiar to us in the evening.
I recommend watching.
This is exactly the kind of association I had with this melodrama after watching it. I feel so good, warm and romantic right now.
If you like melodramas, you are not alien to sensuality, and you believe in love, then this film is a must-see.
This is not just a comedy as listed on the website Kinopoisk, but primarily a melodrama. The quiet, measured course of the plot, diluted with a funny situation and not thoughtful jokes, and it is so nice. A completely different approach to humor. After all, you often pay attention to how in Hollywood movies characters joke funny, but so clearly according to the script, not natural. It’s as if it wasn’t the character who got into the role naturally, but a professional humorist who came up with a joke to achieve certain requirements for the film, the script, and its atmosphere. French cinema is different. So nice that you can make smile not vulgar humor of the level of plinth, stupid hamstring, mockery, etc., and humor subtle, real, sometimes sarcasmous, ridiculing and ironic. The musical accompaniment is truly French, perfectly suited to the narrative, not behind-the-scenes as you might think, but the story of the picture itself, the love story in one of its manifestations.
The true pleasure, as well as the fact that did not stain the aftertaste, is the lack of propaganda of unethical, unnatural relationships. How beautiful is Pierre Richard's play! I was never a fan of him, and let your stones fly at me, he never seemed funny to me either, but how cool he was as Mr. Stein. He plays with his eyes. They read all his emotions, feelings, his inner state. I think he just got into that role, you just believe him. There was a place and his humorous talent, more than ever, by the way, had his ability to twist. But the rest of the cast played, not played. Competent selection of actors, their dedication, as well as the presence of the actor “setting the pace at such a high level”, adding to this an original story, gives us a film of excellent quality. And within the framework of its genre, this work of French cinema I personally appreciated very highly.
“Mr. Stein Goes Online” is an amazing and incredible love story from the French director Stephanie Robeli, who once again tries to light a bright spark in the cold hearts of a million people. And now, after watching it, it is difficult for me to find words, because emotions really go off the scale, and feelings overwhelm the soul, turning a seemingly simple viewing of the film into a real celebration of life.
In the story of an elderly widower, relatives give a computer in the hope of brightening up the heavy burden of loneliness, and by pure chance he stumbles upon a dating site, where he later meets a young beauty. He impersonates a young guy, and engages in an incredible sensitivity of the Internet correspondence, thereby noticing that it is time for a new stage of relations. The main character begins to prepare for a romantic meeting, realizing that the deception has dragged on, he takes emergency measures.
Appreciating this film, to say well, is to say nothing, because it is a real classic of the French sitcom, from which it is simply impossible to break away. The touching story with all kindness covers the viewer with tender lyrics of emotional feelings, but most importantly - demonstrates the piercing power of a simple word coming from the pure heart. During the viewing, the viewer will be immersed in an endless ocean of joyful emotions, where even tears radiate sincere happiness. Of course, you can praise the acting ensemble and amazing casting for a long time, but if you just look at one Pierre Richard, you will immediately understand why he is a great artist and a wonderful person with a capital letter.
Excellent production is complemented by a variety of locations, music, pleasant light and good editing. Of course, the success of the picture is due to a beautiful script, but still assume that this film belongs more to the category where the story is drawn by the most talented actors with incredible charisma and accurate hit in their image.
I definitely and strongly recommend everyone to see this picture and get unforgettable emotions.
Great movie! cozy and kind... that’s really missing right now. Of course, not the ukataika, and thank God, because from the ukataika now will fall down. A good melodrama in which the master plays. Real people, faces, emotions! Richard is a good wine that gets better over the years. It is impossible not to mention the music of the well-known Vladimir Kosm ... there is something in it that is ours, that will never return, but affects us. It's a childhood.
I watched it in the cinema and will definitely buy it.
"Profile for two" - in the Russian box office "Mr. Stein goes online" - quite a French-family film, in no way pretending to be a genre of "comedy", but not deprived of this pleasant ease.
The plot is quite accurately given in the “description”, and there is no point in dwelling on it. Jokes a little, but they are appropriate – there are those mandatory that on the topic of “the old man and the Internet”, there are gags a la “comedy of positions”.
It can be predicted that the Americans will take up the remake, since the plot / final has not yet been beaten, and also because in such a ready-made scenario you can stuff a whole bunch of jokes below the belt, and you will get a box office Hollywood hit.
But this hit will be 100% devoid of a cozy French (even Parisian) atmosphere and a very organic Pierre Richard in it.
A beautiful picture, which presents today's reality, shown from the angle of an elderly man, embodied by the unsurpassed Pierre Rechard. Looking at him, you understand that, despite the age, you can always remain a romantic and be open to love. Times have changed, new technologies have entered life, but this is just the paraphernalia of modernity, having mastered which, even at the age of 75, you can begin to live again in this reality. It opens up new horizons of communication for everyone.
Modern youth is obsessed with all sorts of tinsel from the Internet, and when a person of such an advanced age gets to him, then, rest assured, having understood the device, he will be able to plug any young man by the belt.
It is very interesting to watch the story while enjoying the legendary actor. Pierre Rechard is no longer the kind of eccentric who plays comedy characters we've been used to watching his old movies. Now this wise life gray-haired old man, due to circumstances, got involved in a romantic adventure.
It is no coincidence that Reshar’s hero is called Pierre, as well as the actor in life. In part, this is a reference to the actor himself, to his life lived and roles played. It would seem that Pierre is a secondary character, but soon he comes to the fore for you.
Summing up, I can say that this is a pleasant, easy, memorable film with a cult actor, which everyone definitely needs to see.
