From the life of British schoolgirls, with reference to famous British films.
A week of watching Colin Firth's films. Movie 4th .
And they're back together, I mean Colin Firth and Rupert Everett and back in comedy. This is certainly not Wald’s humor, and not a theatrical plot, but also a good film in the genre of comedy. As it may seem at first, the film is for girls, but nothing like that. We watched with my husband, both laughed. Just a sample of English humor. This is an American cake, in English. These girls, they're so cute. A dynamic, vibrant film! It is relaxing, even for family viewing. Everyone played well. Colin burns as usual. Rupert Everett brilliantly played! They always make a great duo.
If someone decides to shoot Colin Firth inside England, the effect of a small theater is assured. There were also hints of movies Colina. For example, Rupert and Colin frankly tease each other in the best traditions The importance of being serious. Or Colin goes through the park in a wet shirt and all this irresistible (a la Mr. Darcy), and from other films too. And they sing a duet again. And again - in the style of cabbage.
I am still amazed how the British made such an uncharacteristic, sparkling and charming film for them. It was nice to see both Colin Firth and Stephen Fry - these two are just a plague. Rupert Everett is above all praise in his dual role in this film. Medal on his chest, and Oscar for such a role.
In this college, there are no rules, no obedience, no principles, the basic values are erased, but they are all one family that acts together and is ready to fight for its existence. There is no need to talk about love, loyalty, there is a place of cunning, aggression, but united and unanimous. There is no room for tears and weaknesses. The ideal of a girl is breathtakingly beautiful, graceful, intelligent, sexy, bold, proud, impregnable. And that's how students come out of here.
The plot develops smoothly, but it is impossible to predict everything. In this film there are no conventions and calibrated lines. It seems that there is no script at all, and the plot goes by itself, as if everything develops directly in front of the viewer. Yes, there are a lot of stupid and awkward things, jokes and the atmosphere sometimes takes us to the American cinema, but all the same here everything is higher in order, and it is done so deliberately, and not by tradition. Full, worthwhile film. But to appreciate it, you do not need to take everything to heart and you need to love sometimes to distract and relax, to plunge into the world of stupidities and hyperbolically inflated stereotypes.
A great film in response to the already annoying typical American comedies. I'm not a fan of youth comedies, but it's very level. Such films I usually watch with tea and cookies (or with seeds, corn sticks, nuts, whatever you like, to choose from) or with popcorn, because they are not tense. But, it was so funny that I even forgot about tea, so he stood on the table until the end.
I haven’t been laughing or laughing in a long time. Movies-parody rather non-trivial genre. Few people try to work in it, as the requirements are quite at the level. Well, in this film everything turned out just well and not too vulgar. What you can't see here... So, in a nutshell, the picture here is that each of us, I think, has not had a particularly warm feeling for the school we went to. Many people openly hated their school. Now imagine that this is the only place where you feel at home and no one is chasing you. And not only that they do not chase, but also wait. Not school, it's a dream. A paradise to express your inclinations. It's not that clear. It is clear that this paradise is very strongly encrypted for the real hell. And it would be nothing, but the Ministry does not want to see such an institution in its trained ranks. Execution cannot be granted. And here the pupils go on the path of war and, not disdaining by any methods, try to defend their own.
The film does not claim a semantic load. It's a resting comedy. So, if after a difficult day's events you do not want to strain too much, then this film is for you. Easy comedy, sometimes with black humor, which is a rarity for our cinema and very pleased. I only watched it because of Colin. I didn’t even know he was doing something like that. After yesterday’s painfully sad Genoa, today such a comedy, though rather stupid, was just a joy. I was looking at it.
Always annoying "teenage" comedies, stamped one after another. Such were even “Otorva”, “Stroppy girl”. Such films are included in a limited release in Russia. Therefore, after purchasing the license of such films, these discs remain a purely beautiful cover.
I did not regret that I noticed the full version of “Classmates”, the money spent paid off the film itself. The Brits are scolding again.
Plot
St. Trinian is an unusual, even extraordinary, school for disadvantaged children. The teachers themselves are uncontrollable. Noisy adhesions, smoking, testing explosives are common in this school. There comes a time when the school is closed. The reason is taxes. We didn't have to count on adults. Solving the problem - Robbery with hacking
The Russian name is better than St. Trinian. In addition, the headmistress was performed by a man who, to be honest, was disgusting to look at. Despite the banal plot, the film had something to laugh about. At least here the topic of hazing left in the background. The parody of Pride and Prejudice brought a smile, but the film is still "childish." The girls simply planned the robbery of the gallery:
Action One - Excursion
Action Two - Organization
Action Four - Get to the final of the quiz
Action Five – Execution of the Plan
Actors
Gemma Arterton
Before "Agent 007", as an actress did not perceive, but the role in "Classmates" dramatically changed my opinion. The girl is talented and has good looks.
I really wanted to see something like "Otorva" - so I came across this film. Lena Headey is also interested in seeing actors or actresses in a different role than you used to. What did I get out of here?
Funny and extraordinary comedy with a funky soundtrack, reminiscent of the famous film “Mission Impossible”, just in the female version. At the college, where the so-called missing girls, who are rejected elsewhere, the headmistress' brother brings his daughter Annabelle. After Annabelle passed the “test” and a little socialized, the pupils learn that the college they can take because of non-payment of debts. They do not want to leave their almost home and go to normal schools, so they come up with an intricate plan by brainstorming.
The topic is not new, but it is presented in a rather interesting way. In women's societies, that's actually what happens -- certain interest groups, disdainful and distrustful attitudes toward newcomers, slightly aggressive and eccentric behavior of each of them as a whole, but if you need to come together for a common goal, girls will do it.
It is impossible not to note the acting - and Rupert Everett, who played two characters so that I suspected something wrong only towards the end, as well as the other girls whose heroines immediately distinguish one from another (I will not list the actresses, they are really too many). But for some reason Colin Firth is not remembered at all. Perhaps the role of the Minister of education-loser is not very suitable for him in principle.
If you want to relax and spend an hour and a half for an easy comedy, then “Classmates” is your choice.

Oh, my God, I love St. Trinian's. I wouldn’t be lying if I saw this movie at least 5 times and laughed. It is not a lie that I would recommend this film to anyone who wants to enjoy a pleasant comedy. This is a really good youth film with its charm and I will try to explain why this film causes me so much excitement.
1. Humor. There's no particularly vulgar joke. But enough of those that cause genuine laughter. It turns out that for almost half an hour I sit with a big smile on my face. I’m sure that even if you don’t laugh, you’ll still have fun with what’s happening on the screen. Especially if you are a fan of someone from the caste, then you will be amused by references to their other works.
2. Atmosphere. To the spirit of anarchy at the school of St. Trinian, which the creators tried to convey, a sense of unrestrained fun was added. It all complements the soundtrack, which fits perfectly into the film like never before. Despite the fact that the action on the screen can hardly be called close to reality, the viewer feels quite a real participant in this whole celebration of disorder.
3. Caste. Full of famous names. Here you and Rupert Everett, playing two roles at once, and whatever gentleman Colin Firth, and not unknown Russell Brand. There are also beautiful ladies in the faces of Talulah Riley, Gemma Arterton and Lily Cole. Even there are cameos Mishy Barton and Stephen Fry, which also says something. And most importantly, everything is in its place. No one seems superfluous or inappropriate. And the main thing is that the actors themselves enjoyed shooting in this interesting film.
4. Characters. The plot of the film is not very original. But what makes it interesting to the viewer is the bright characters. First, the whole school is divided into stereotypical groups: Gopniks, emo, geeks, beauties, etc. And the whole film is pretty cute and skillfully playing on the same stereotypes. It all seems funny here, not stupid. Secondly, the headmistress performed by Rupert Everett. I think it’s worth highlighting because it’s the character that comes to mind first when I think of St. Trinian’s.
Again, this is a youth comedy, the purpose of which is to make you laugh. It doesn’t make sense if you want something else. Ignoring all my love for this film, there is something in it that prevents me from making it a solid ten. But still, the film is very good and looks even more presentable against the background of the second part, which in my opinion is quite weak and ridiculous, so ...

Very unusual film. "Black Humor" whips from all sides. Girl students simply cannot leave the viewer indifferent.
The plot of the film does not shine with originality, but the presentation of material does not make this movie ordinary. There are many female characters in the film and each viewer will choose his favorite, for which he will be worried.
In addition to female characters in the film there are Colin Firth, Stephen Fry and Rupert Everett, although the latter probably still refers to female characters.
After watching this movie, you won’t regret it. He is quite original, funny and even intellectual in some places.
“Jeffrey, there were other times! Another country.” (c)
British comedy “St. Trinian’s”, somehow translated into Russian as “Classmates”, firmly and definitely entered the TOP-10 of my favorites of world cinema. After following the advice of my mother and older sister, people who are brilliant in British cinema, I watched both parts of the film a few years ago. And the first one will be discussed in my review.
The film deals primarily with such an important topic for any Briton as the relationship between the state and the extensive education system. As you know, in the UK there are many different types of secondary and higher education institutions. St. Trinian's College is a type of fairly typical female private boarding school. However, this school was, to put it mildly, not typical.
Arriving at the insistence of her father, the quiet and timid schoolgirl Annabelle Fritton, the niece of the headmistress, finds herself in a completely different atmosphere, striking contrast to her previous school. “Through fire and water” she goes through all the “tests” through which she is socialized step by step in a new company.
And the company's got a lot of noise. Several opposing groups - from glamorous blondes to "hanging" in their "world" hippies - united by a common anarchist impulse, the absence of any order or subordination (literally and figuratively), the ochlocracy of which is restrained only by the imperious Chief Kelly Jones and the authority of the ever positive and eccentric Camilla Fritton, the director of the institution.
And now, having become “his” in this ever-rageous circle, Annabelle becomes – partly of her own volition, partly due to a number of circumstances – one of the leaders of the school “resistance” to the new Minister of Education Jeffrey Thwaite, played by one of the best English actors Colin Firth. The minister, who has just taken up his chair and, as a result, is overflowing with new ideas, decides to stage a show-baiting of St. Trinian's College as "a hotbed of lawlessness and anarchy."
In spite, the bank reminds the headmistress of her large debt; she is given two weeks to collect the right amount, which she does not have in sight. And then, especially without spreading, I will only say that by joint use of all their forces, resources and sources, the girls begin to fight for the survival of their school. And, as expected, they succeed.
In addition to an interesting, cheerful, and at the same time not “abstruse” plot (which definitely deserves high praise), I would single out a chic cast and acting. Better than Colin Firth and Rupert Everett, Gemma Arterton and Talula Riley played their characters, it is hard to imagine. That's definitely 5 out of 5. Each of them is “done” for a hundred, and you do not need to want the best. Good quality work done.
Another undoubted advantage of the film is its musical accompaniment. There is no film in my audio collection that has more soundtracks than St. Trinian’s. Thank you very much to the group Girls Aloud and other musical artists for the fun, rhythmic and melodic compositions, perfectly “laying down” in your head.
Does this film have any philosophical "concepts"? I think there are, albeit not so clearly expressed. At St. Trinian’s, we see how friends working together in the name of right and good will bring success; we see all the benefits of improvisation in critical situations; we finally see that unifying everyone “to the same comb” is worse than preserving distinctiveness and identity in educational institutions. Let the defenders of these traditions be the defenders of anarchy.
Very subtly carried out parody or simply references to many other British films and specifically to some actors (for example, the same Firth).
Let's summarize some things. British cinema once again showed high-class, presenting to the viewer a comedy qualitatively made in all respects, which gave me the best impressions and left only a pleasant mark in my soul. All the gears of the mechanism worked together and gave a brilliant result. Excellent.
