After 15 years, to date, this is the best sequel to the second part of the Terminator, Doomsday.
Despite the fact that the second part of the Terminator I watched as a child, in the mid-90s, this series, shot in the late zeros, I saw only now. The most important thing that the series bribes is that it retains the unforgettable atmosphere of the impending apocalypse, which was deprived of the subsequent films “Terminator: Genesis” and “Terminator: Dark Fate”. Terminator: May the Savior Come also lost the oppressive atmosphere of despair and despair, while Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines became a faint shadow of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Some of the scenes at the end of the second season looked eerie and pumped the right atmosphere of the impending End of the World. However, it all boiled down to an unexpected ending associated with time travel. By the way, this seemingly fundamental theme (time paradoxes and time loops) was not properly played out in the Terminator sequels, instead, everything was simplified and tried to exploit the nostalgia for the first two films to the maximum. But back to the series.
It contains, and quite often, references to an apocalyptic future, which is shown as canonical, as in the first two parts of the Terminator. This gives such continuity to the original films and adds to the atmosphere. The most interesting thing about the series is the identity of the cyborg killer Cameron Phillips, whom John Connor sent from the future to protect himself from evil terminators in the past. Cameron is not a simple terminator, but an advanced model of TOK-715, which in terms of self-awareness and personal development significantly surpasses the T-101 model (Terminator performed by Arnold Schwarzenegger) and is able to surprise the viewer with its deep and sometimes funny reasoning and imitation of human nature. It was really interesting to see how her personality changes dramatically under the influence of certain factors and circumstances. Sometimes it seems that inside Cameron there is a real process of dialectics of the soul of Tolstoy, although where does the machine have a soul? As you know, the most important feature of the psychology of Leo Tolstoy is the close connection of external events with the inner life of the characters. This is what happens during both seasons. Does the car have a soul – this question has been raised many times in the series and this question is asked by a young John Connor. Throughout the series, John has built a complex, contradictory relationship (if you can call it that) with Cameron, but one thing is clear that John values this Terminator very much, and this makes Cameron almost a key character, both in the development of the plot and in terms of the importance of his contribution to the fight against Skynet. Interestingly, the creators of the series named the good Terminator Cameron in honor of the director and screenwriter of the first two parts of the film, James Cameron, thereby expressing his respect.
In the series, in my opinion, well played the sense of paranoia that arises in vain attempts to prevent the creation of Skynet in 2008-2009 (by the way, the End of the World was scheduled for 2011). The second season is even more interesting than the first, it raises an important question: can you trust the Terminator, if he is on your side, will he? Can hostile AI be defeated by human intelligence alone, or is it impossible? If a person, guided by the slogan “everything for victory”, believes and obeys the orders of a friendly AI, who ultimately controls whom and for what ideals is the war against machines being waged? These are topical questions that humanity has yet to get answers to in real life, when the computational power of AI will become such that without the control of artificial intelligence it will be impossible to lead society and conduct modern technologically advanced war. Actually, this is already happening, before our eyes. For a thinking viewer who knows at least a little about the trends and global processes taking place today, the series should definitely arouse interest, as it makes you think about such archival things that are not customary to talk about on TV.
Sarah Connor was played by Lena Headey, who is now known for the role of Cersei Lannister from the series “Game of Thrones”. Here she looks first younger, and secondly not a bitch, and the role of a caring mother is given to her no worse. The role of John Connor was played by a young actor Thomas Dekker, familiar to me from the arthouse Gregg Araki “Kaboom”, and also, it turns out, he played a cameo role in the initial series of the series “Heroes”. The appearance of the actor is pleasant, even beautiful, he is suitable for the role of the adult John Connor. Well, the actress Summer Glau, known to me for the role of a strange telepathic girl from the TV series “Firefly” and the film “Mission Serenity”, managed to play a cyborg killer from the future no worse than Arnold Schwarzenegger. In fact, without her, the series would not be so cool and attractive. The roles of male terminators were performed by different actors, but the main antagonist, a cyborg nicknamed Cramarthy (model T-888), was played by Garrett Dillahant, whose face may be familiar to those viewers who watch various films and TV series throughout their lives. No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t remember where I saw him, probably because he played secondary and episodic roles (but the face is eerily familiar). Supporting actors also play well, which gives the quality of the series. There are few of them, but I especially liked how the submariner from the future was played by Stephanie Jacobsen, this actress played very emotionally and did not fake.
Summing up, “Terminator: Battle for the Future” is a great game of actors, a minimum of special effects, a rather interesting plot about the formation of Skynet and attempts to stop the impending End of the World. This is a series about time travelers. Yes, yes, this is the emphasis, and the ending could give the start of a whole series of films or the next season ... but, unfortunately, this did not happen, and filmmakers, as we now know, decided to rivet mediocre sequels that could not repeat the novelty of “Terminator” and the genius of “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”, which became a unique film-legend.

There’s a terminator in the room, a future resistance leader, and...
I am reviewing this series for the third time, even after many years I like a lot about it, I will gladly share with you what it is.
The story takes place a short time after the second part. In the serial format managed to fit everything that for the most part would not fit into the movie. Sarah Conor and her son are on the move. They are searched by the police and are constantly searched by cyborg killers. And yet, every time I watched it was very interesting to see how their small family gets along in society and does not miss moments that would just sometimes live. John is a future savior of humanity, attends school during the day, and in the evening, instead of doing homework, tries to survive or influence the events of the future war.
One of the most memorable characters is Cameron. Also a cyborg, but seemingly fragile girl sent to protect John. There are dozens of very memorable scenes associated with her, and it’s always interesting to see how she reacts to things we normally do. Her unpredictability and the way she tries to impersonate a person are the best moments of the series.
The project consists of two seasons and unfortunately, it sags significantly at the beginning of the second half. Flashbacks and showing off other timelines are starting to get really tiring. In the present, there are always more interesting things happening than the swarming of people in basements and conspicuous computer effects.
I recommend the series to those who liked the second part of the Terminator and just connoisseurs of stories of unusual family relationships, except with shootouts and escapes.

Looking at how many events have been invested in thirty-one episodes, I want to ask: “What did you miss, viewers?”
It has everything: the disclosure of characters, and large logically developing story arcs, and small tragedies. And, also, rare but correct humor. Great drama where it’s needed (it doesn’t feel stretched, probably because the series is short). And even a detective in the subject.
What the writers gave is one great delight.
Character selection is a complete hit, no miscast. Everyone lives their roles.
It is clear that the project was made with great love for both the lore of the franchise and the very idea of confrontation between people and machines.
The stars agreed that this is the best continuation of the first two films. And it was probably too good for us to see another season and a distinct closure of the series, rather than a cut-off ending.
It's an amazing series. I review it every year, and every time I find something new and interesting for myself. Definitely ten stars, in many respects: a great idea, consistent disclosure of an interesting plot, a good cast, actors play professionally, the film is interesting to watch. Each series is a separate finished story, and at the same time is a single connected narrative, a consistent chronological chain (although the characters periodically jump through time, as befits science fiction). Surprisingly, there are many people who love Terminator movies and have never watched this series. Take a look, you won’t regret it! In my opinion, these films are much better than all the Terminator movies put together. And if Arnold Schwarzenegger were invited to the lead role here, perhaps the film would become more famous and popular among the masses. By the way, about Arnold and NF - in later films, the ideas of Transhumanism are already flashing, with a clear understanding that a scientific symbiosis of man and machine, man and computer can be realized, but in the first two Terminators - the image of a fantastic machine, performed by Arnold - is puzzling for the attentive connoisseur of NF. What does this mountain of muscle have to do with it? Back muscles, abs, biceps and triceps – all this is an essential indicator of strength in the world of biological people, it is a warrior of ancient Greece and somewhere, perhaps, a hero of modern civilization. Already in the second “Terminator”, the developers corrected themselves, and sent a more perfect cyborg, made of liquid metal, the human appearance is thin and slim. And in the sequel to the series, "Rise of the Machines", a mechanical killer - just charming, is at all in the image of an elegant lady, successfully embodied on the screen model T-X, actress Kristane Loken.
Here, we see the further evolution of this progressive idea, and I will not reveal the secret if I inform you in advance that now, from the future, a new development, Cameron’s girl, has been sent. In one of the series, the “arnold-like” terminator, when fighting this miracle girl, fixes his AI: “An unknown model of a cyborg, actions – retreat.” As we can see, height, muscle volume, and other human factors do not play a decisive role in the battles of futuristic machines, there is a figure, the serial number of the model development. Some kind of semi-love intrigue of Cameron and John is also present, it is already interesting and progressive.
Lena Headey in the image of Sarah Connor in my subjective male look is just a chic woman, and perfectly copes with the role of the heroic mother of John, in this image she has a kind of gloomy charm. The actors play realistically, getting used to their heroic image, and do not overplay, we believe in what is happening - both in the present and in the future, and in each series - some new interesting facets of the characters are opened. John and Sarah, even Cameron's machine, they're evolving as the story goes on, changing the way they look at life and how they relate to themselves and each other, which is essential. John is also becoming more mature and courageous, from a boy hiding from life, completely dependent on his dominant mother, gradually makes more and more courageous decisions, takes the role of a leader, and accepts his destiny, realizes his mission in this world.
The time storyline is quite long: the events begin at the end of the 20th century, and after that, we will gradually move along with the main characters. The theme of September 11, 2001, will show further progress in the computer industry, and it will come to the stories in the distant future, where there is a real war with machines, and somewhere machines have already agreed with man, and the role of John Connor is not the last in this, his leadership is questioned, the famous Resistance. In these films, in addition to the classic persecution of John’s machines, there will be many semantic allusions, attempts to symbiosis with the theme of UFOlogy, an appeal to the Christian religion and morality, and all this – without boring, in a rather fascinating form, with original references and denouements of the plot. A colorful black FBI detective will add a detective storyline to the narrative, putting himself in his place, you can imagine the complexity of working in such an organization, when faced with facts that can deprive you of your job if they are honestly reflected in the case. And all that remains is to sing along with Johnny Cash, a very well inserted composition: "The Man Comes Around", (Johnny Cash).
There is an age qualification on the box, in my opinion – this film is only useful for viewing – for modern children and adolescents, it will contribute to their more sober outlook on life, gaining a firmer character and rational thinking.
PS: you can write a lot about this series, it is better to look and see for yourself, this is a great opportunity to spend many wonderful evenings, with a good mood, and even have something to think about.
PPS: According to the legend of the NF-saga “Terminator”, when teleporting in time – it is impossible to take weapons and even clothes with you, the heroes constantly fall naked, from glowing spheres. What is the Terminator but a walking gun? Machine-computer, in human form. Maybe progressive humanity needs a new legend.
When the series was driven on REN-TV, I decided for myself that I would not watch it. Like, 'Terminator-2' - it's cool, and everything else is not. Nevertheless, after carefully looking into the first series, I instantly got involved and watched the whole series more than once. Yes, in many moments here the writers of the owl pulled on the globe, but still it looked more organic than in ' Rise of the machines'. Each series tells a separate story, which in five or six episodes is almost completely forgotten. In this sense, the plot of the first season looks more integral, the second season is already getting boring. There are also dashing moments in the second season, for example, the scene of the assault on the Cameron prison - it was filmed in the spirit of T1 and T2, perhaps not even worse. But the musical accompaniment of the fighting scenes - some country to the Spanish guitar - of course, not good. In T2 and especially in T1, the music that accompanied the shooting clearly reflected the seriousness of what was happening on the screen. Although if you remember that the TV series are also called 'show', it will be quite in the spirit.
The series raises and develops the same questions as the originals. For example, the question of the evolution of artificial intelligence has been developed to a new level. The idea that the ancestor of Skynet played chess, I think, is very successful, simple and elegant - I am an amateur chess player.
On the serial, the topic of gender relations is also drawn up. In general, in the second season, soap begins to leak from the screen. On the one hand, this is understandable - in the series ' seats ' more than in the full-length film, in which there is no time to chew, airtime needs to be filled with something. Gradually, you can see how the fantasy of writers dries up and action gives way to melodrama. And only in some last minutes in the plot as if burst the scene of the storming of the prison, and then the attack on the office ' Zeira'. What was the culmination of all T1 (in this case, compare, of course, with the defeat of the police station by the Terminator) turns out to be an element of the series finale. Apparently, the creators were already so tired of their creation that they were in a hurry to finish shooting at least somehow, just to do something more interesting.
However, fans of films about the Terminator are recommended to watch, at least it is clearly better than the third part.

Again, I write an enthusiastic review of a sci-fi series that appealed to me more with its dramatic side. I watched this series back in the years of its release, that is, 2008-2009, but it still occupies one of the first places in the list of the best works I have ever seen. I am not one of those who watch movies for shooting scenes and so on. Let the film consist of at least one dialogue, but there will be something to think about, to cry and laugh. My favorite part of the Terminator is the second. Although it is also an action movie, as well as the first film, but it is much deeper and more dramatic: few people did not feel sympathy for the good Arnie and did not let go of a tear at the end of the film. So, the series “Terminator: Battle for the Future” develops the idea of friendship between man and machine and takes it to a whole new level.
The events of the mediocre third film (not to mention the failed others) are ignored by the series. To protect John Connor from the future sent a Terminator girl named Cameron. Over the course of 31 episodes, we’ve seen John, Cameron, and Sarah Connor take a very interesting path as they try to at least survive by confronting the constantly arriving hostile cyborgs, and at most prevent Judgment Day. The presentation of the plot is very great, and the emphasis is not on fights and shootouts (although this is enough here), but on the relationship between the characters. There are arguments about the mother-son relationship, and the difficulties of adolescence, and trust between loved ones, and even a subtle romantic line between John and Cameron, which behaves much more humane than previous models.
When I watch a movie that is set in the future, the brain boils from all sorts of incomprehensible things that you have to put together in a mosaic to understand what is happening at all. In addition, there is often an overwhelming feeling of discomfort from the strong contrast of the world of the future with the one in which we live. And I love works like Terminator: The Battle for the Future because they manage to immerse the viewer in the light, pleasant atmosphere of futurism, while unfolding in the present. The future is sometimes shown to us, but mostly we look at it through the eyes of the main characters, for whom it is all as incomprehensible and alien to us. In fact, futurism and time travel act here only as a seasoning, and otherwise it is an ordinary science fiction drama about ordinary people faced with unusual things.
The series raises some interesting questions. Should young John rely on his mother for everything, or should he take matters into his own hands as a resistance leader? To what extent can you trust a car, and should you trust people more? Can a machine experience emotion? Summer Glau perfectly coped with his role, making you really worry about her cyborg heroine, smile at her funny attempts to imitate a person, and sometimes get scared when the deep essence of the machine still comes to the surface. The series has an interesting and at the same time not difficult to understand the plot, an excellent atmosphere, a beautiful color scheme and a high-quality soundtrack, very reminiscent of that of Terminator 2. I cannot recommend it only as part of the Terminator franchise (the main genre is not an action movie here), but I recommend it as an independent, exceptionally good work in the genre of science fiction drama.
Multi-part alternative to the third part of the franchise
When I learned about this series, I thought that it shows only passive shooting without action, without which it is difficult to imagine a film about robots from the future, but when I got acquainted with American multi-series projects that can boast of entertainment no worse than theatrical films, I decided to see, especially since it was interesting that the authors of the series came up with what can replace the events of the third part of the series about the Terminator with the participation of Arnold Schwarzenegger, which even many fans of the first two parts and this actor disliked. The series was filmed when the fourth part of the official cycle was already being prepared, which is both a continuation to the first trilogy, and a backstory to the first part, because in the first three parts there were time travels, and in the end the fourth film hinted at the beginning of the first picture in 1984. Due to the fact that on the first two parts, the second of which absolutely everyone considers the best in the series, was shot by the master of entertainment cinema James Cameron, and on the third part worked by another director, the triquel did not please quite many viewers, although it was shot in absolutely the same style as the sequel, and was able to please not only the action, but also interesting plot elements. The fourth part was not a movie about time travel and robots in human form, but an ordinary post-apocalyptic action movie. The series is literally translated as '. Sarah Connor Chronicles & #39; completely ignored the events of the triquel and quadriquel, as well as the alternative ending of the second film, which showed an absolute happy ending, and demonstrated what I brought to the title of the review.
We see a new team of actors, two of whom portray characters with long-known names, the third here is an alternative to the image of the character of Schwarzenegger. The events of the series begin immediately after the events of the sequel with the subtitle ' Judgment Day', and, it would seem, we are pleased from the very beginning with active actions, various surprises, one of which is the mechanical essence of the one that will replace John Connor with the robot that protected him from robots of the opposite purpose in the second and third parts of the the theatrical cycle. The actors who portrayed John and his mother Sarah, please with their charisma, and this is the main thing that the series rests on. But the first series was the only perfect series in this project. It had very interesting dialogues, and even quite a good action, which I expected to see in each series, if the first was so chic, but it turned out that both visually and in the plot, the authors had enough imagination for only one series. Occasionally, of course, flashed interesting moments, plus the play of the actors did not tire of delighting - maybe because of this colorful trio and worth watching this series. But more and more unnecessary moments became, numerous robots did not please, for something inserted elements of horror, for example, a creepy monster with red eyes in the bath. A dialogues were little interesting, except for talks about life between the three main characters. The main feature of the films from the cycle about terminators - shifts in time, they happened here only twice. And what may disappoint fans of special effects is that they almost do not exist. Usually in high-budget series, the authors do not spare money for action and expensive scenery, examples of this - ' Game of Thrones', 'Spartacus. Blood and Sand' and 'Rome' and pro 'The Walking Dead' I heard that there are many expensive scenes with the extermination of the undead. There is no such drive here. Watch this series is worth only such loyal fans of the topic of cyborgs from the future, who just want to look at these very cyborgs and the scenes of their destruction, even if they are cheap, and there are few. Seriously, I was expecting a lot more.
6 out of 10
P.S. The cult series 'Game of Thrones' with the participation of Lena Headey, who played Sarah Connor here, I was much more pleased. Fans of the talented actress also recommend to see ' The Jungle Book' 1994, but there you will not even recognize it.
"Terminator: Battle for the Future" He will return for only two seasons
In 1984, the film “Terminator” was released by director James Cameron. This creation conquered the whole world, becoming a cult part of science fiction. Realizing that the film has the potential to become a franchise, in 1991 came the second, even more successful, to some extent the great “Terminator: Judgment Day”. He was noted by numerous awards, including 4 Oscars and huge box office fees for the 90s. The third part, titled Terminator: Rise of the Machines, was released in 2003 under the direction of another director. Failing to meet the expectations of fans of the universe, in 2008, a television series was released, which is an alternative continuation of the second part of Terminator: Battle for the Future (in the original “Terminator: The Chronicles of Sarah Connor”).
The series tells about the events that occurred after the second part of “Terminator”. Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) and her son John (Thomas Dekker) hide from the government, moving from place to place. After them, again, not one, but many cyborgs from the future are sent to kill John. To protect him, a reprogrammed female terminator named Cameron (Summer Glau) is sent into the past. Together, they try to prevent the creation of artificial intelligence Skynet and Doomsday.
Overall, the series failed, receiving critical reviews and ratings, lasting only two seasons. To be honest, after watching the whole series, reflecting on its idea, characters and meaning, I became really interested in why it failed.
Is there a problem with the story?
Watching the plot moves and twists, I was really fascinated by the plot. There were many questions that were not discussed in the films. It may have been smaller, but the very essence, the philosophical meaning with the religious overtones of Skynet and Doomsday, was incredibly thought out. The series gave a religious perspective on the events of the entire franchise. Many truths came from the character introduced in the series - agent James Alisson (Richard T. Jones). Speaking of which.
Maybe fans were not satisfied with the characters and new actors who played their favorite characters - John and Sarah?
- The question of who better plays the role of Sarah Connor, Linda Hamilton or Lena Headey, for me, has one logical answer - both actresses played a character who has one purpose in life - to protect his son, so that in the future he will become the Savior of humanity. They both did great. The series develops the essence of such a life: what consequences does the obsession with just one idea - to protect, hide and flee. John was a ten-year-old boy, but now he is a teenager, and it is logical to observe his development and evolution. More to say about the new Terminator-defender Cameron. Arnold Schwarzenegger brilliantly played the model T-800, and he has no equal. Cameron is a different model, with many innovations: blue eyes, flexible exo skeleton, female body. For me, she is one of the most controversial characters. The thing is, I've been doing this to the end, and we really don't know what to expect from her. At one point, she's a cold-blooded killer, at another, she's a teenage girl who can feel emotions. Yes, it was the theme of humanizing the cyborg that attracted fans in “Doomsday.” Here it is developed on the other hand, showing Cameron's deep feelings for John. In a way, she loves him. It was this topic that made me admire what was happening, because no one could know the outcome. And we'll never see him again.
To be honest, I am very disappointed that the series has been closed. The full potential of the second season just fell into the abyss. And we'll never see a sequel. The alternative is the new Terminator films that will be released in the future. But the story of the series is not finished, it has an absolutely open ending that needs to be continued. Unfortunately
The Terminator universe has long required a more detailed development and detailed description of John Connor's adventures with his mother before Doomsday. That is, in general, it would be right to leave to enjoy the first 2 films and forget about the third, perceiving it as a whim of Arnie, who decided to have fun and earn at the same time.
However, from the point of view of Hollywood, such a field, given the number of fans ' Terminator' themes, could not remain unplowed, resulting in the series ' Terminator: The Chronicles of Sarah Connor'. The surprise, however, was that the topic was not as golden as it might seem. In this regard, the series abounds with many frankly superfluous and far-fetched heroes. All this theme with endlessly sent from the future terminators and resistance (in the course of the action it turns out that some of the terminators and people go into the past arbitrarily: such are, for example, Derek Jesse’s beloved and the head of the corporation ' Zeira' Miss Weaver) is rather quickly boring, although logical in nature. All claims to the time paradoxes thus arising are removed by the principle of Novikov’s self-consistency.
However, the series is interesting not in the fight against terminators, but in the evolution of people and intelligent machines who find themselves in an unfamiliar situation and are forced to make complex decisions and calculate multi-walk scenes. So, the main antihero Cromarty and Terminator Weaver refuse to obey their creator and master – the Skynet system, which was previously unimaginable. Moreover, if Cromarty only goes against certain decisions of Skynet, Miss Weaver disowns her and begins to oppose her. Both Weaver and Cameron (intriguingly, both of these Terminators are female—is that a coincidence?) are beginning to evolve from a soulless machine into a human, continuing the line that Schwarzenegger began in Doomsday. The main role in their evolution is played by love. At the same time, there are several secondary human heroes who resemble machines in their behavior – they are able to act on only one program and are ready to sacrifice humanity for its implementation. The line between machine and man, so clearly drawn by James Cameron in 1984, is almost erased.
It is impossible not to mention the excellent types of main and secondary heroes-people. Derek Reese, a simple warrior who finds himself in an ambiguous situation begins to get lost. In this he recalls the hero Anatoly Papanov in the "Belarusian railway station": "For a moment it seemed ... everything is clear: here is the enemy, next to our own and our right cause." In another situation, he begins to doubt forever and this ruins him. John Connor, who spends his entire adult life under the pressure of an upcoming mission and wants to escape from him, which he eventually succeeds in. For if we view the series as a story about John Connor, it is not a story of struggle and triumph, but of disappointment and downshifting. The third type is Sarah Connor, who survived the horror of a battle with the Terminator at the age of less than 20 and devoted her entire adult life to fighting, who knows how to do nothing else. She cannot understand her son, cannot give up her fears, and even after losing what she fought for - John Connor - she continues to resist, for the struggle is life for her.
This is a series in the series "20 years later" - a paradigm shift and the focus shifted from humanity to man. This is the conflict between fathers and children. You cannot raise a hero in an environment where there is no concept of a hero. So it is not surprising that after 20 years since the memorable 1984, the son does not understand the mother and prefers to struggle and sacrifice a small family happiness, even in the entourage of a guerrilla war with an armada of machines. What a time - such and heroes.
Once upon a time, when this series was shown on Ren-TV, I watched it with pleasure. I may not have been able to watch every episode, but that did not stop me from following the series. Of course! After all, this is not some simple series, but the Terminators themselves! That was the only driving force at the time. Now watching the series again, the impressions slightly changed.
The biggest drawback of the series is its length. The first season, consisting of 9 episodes, told a fairly complete story, introduced the main characters, made it clear what he is. For the first season there are almost no questions, but for the second a lot. The second season already consisted of 22 episodes and in my opinion it was completely unnecessary. The story is far-fetched, plus stretched. It seemed that the authors of the film simply had nothing to show, but to show something! And therefore, many places in the series began to sag, and for the sake of watching this creation, each viewer fell into the background (I am talking about terminators), there were more dialogues devoted to moral and moral topics, due to which interest in viewing disappeared. If the creators removed a lot of incomprehensible actions, plot moves that do not affect the overall history of the film, but on the contrary it complicates and spoils, the series would come out wow! You don't even know how to treat him.
Despite all of the above, the series has many advantages. Whatever it was, but it’s the same story about cyborgs-killers, ship bottom, post-apocalyptic world, John Conner and his mother. Plus, the writers of the series made many references to specific episodes from past films, thereby making it clear that they respect what was done before, and not just doing one thing. All these references and even re-shot small scenes from past films, all this will be nice to see a person versed in the universe "Terminator". Also in the film well staged for that time action scenes, especially do not forget that this is a series. Everything looks at the level and with interest, plus the visual side again does not look bad enough.
To the cast at first I had big claims. I absolutely disagreed with the choice of actors for the main roles and central characters. It seemed to me that almost everyone was in the wrong place. But after two seasons, when I got used to everyone, I had nothing bad to say about them. This is perhaps the trouble of each series, when at first you do not like any of the actors, and towards the end they are already relatives. Specifically, from the actors, in order not to go deep and write about each of the 15 pages, I will highlight perhaps only the main terminator. Summer Glau got used to the role 100%! A monotonous face that expresses absolutely no emotions throughout the series. It always seems like a robot, not a human being. So Summer is really good!
In general, friends, no matter how I pick on the details, but the series turned out to be quite not bad, to watch or not it is your right, but personally I will not review it a second time.
7 out of 10
I found out about this series by accident. Surprisingly, I didn’t immediately feel the same sense of rejection that I felt on the news about T3, T4... and beyond. I thought, if something is being created in the face of a notoriously shameful T3, it can’t by definition be completely stupid. It takes brains to assess the stupidity of T3, and if it's people with brains. . .
So what happened? It was pretty good. And the main positive thing is the terminators. Their identities. Cameron trying not to imitate a person, but to be one. The methodical and adamant Cromarty, the cynical intellectual Katherine Weaver. The series tries to consider the reasons for the inevitability of the Skynet uprising, to think once again about the fundamental possibility of coexistence with the inhuman mind.
And pulling the series down is not so much limited budget, which deprived us of action and special effects (because it is interesting to look at how they act and what the characters say). The creators have so entangled time loops and introduced so many alternate realities that they would not be able to tell who came from what future and how many bifurcation points there have been over the past month. I forgot about one important thing. If Skynet is able to use a time machine repeatedly, why did he step on the same rake again and send a robot back in time to kill Sarah Connor as a child?
Overall, however, the attempt was commendable.
The series is about the life of Sarah Conor and her son, as they ran from other Terminators, which has already been shown in feature films with good special effects. The series is very much stretched and the most interesting begins in the last 5 episodes of season 2. A lot of blunders, I will give 1 of them: when Derek was injured, Sara says that it is night and the doctor will be easy to find, although the sun shines out of all the windows.
I will cite 1 more fact that people do not adequately assess, especially this applies to series of different where you can confidently reduce the overall rating by at least half a point or even a whole point: a fact that after season 2 the project was closed because of the low rating of the film, but after all the world rating of 7.7 he likes, it follows that all ratings are fake and someone is trying hard to improve them, although I do not know why.
In conclusion, I would never advise him to watch his friends, although not the worst show was much worse.
Man is the most precious thing between heaven and earth.
I understand how risky Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was supposed to be compared to a film trilogy that cost more than three hundred million dollars in total. And the genre of the series itself is not simple, because, with a modest budget, you need to maintain at least some appearance of fiction. The result we know, and as it is written in the commentary: "A total of two seasons were shot; the project was frozen due to low ratings of the second season when shown in the United States, did not meet the budget."
And yet, I want to say that this is one of my favorite series. With the power of characters, the depth of images and a special, I would say instructive philosophy, he reminded me of such series as “The Dark Angel”, “Doll’s House” and others. . .
The series leads to serious reflections, about the person, about his essence, intentions and actions. How typical and predictable is a person’s attitude towards “cybernetic organisms,” even if they help, protect and save people from death, they will never become a friend to a person. They will be feared, doubted, and sacrificed, or betrayed. A clear demonstration of the general philosophy of the series is shown in the episode about the submarine. Where a seemingly ordinary combat mission turned into fatalities, into a ruined bright future, only because of human fears, ambitions, mistrust – in general, ordinary human weaknesses. It reminds me of the novels of Robert Sheckley.
Despite my sympathies with the series, I can’t give a high rating for several reasons. Firstly, the middle of the second season is very long. For example, a whole episode is devoted to glitches in Sarah’s head, despite the fact that this plot of the episode clearly falls out of the concept of the project. Second, the final episode is crumpled and breaks the integrity of the second season. Maybe the creators of the project until the last moment were hoping for a continuation, and some of the scenes may have already been shot, I don’t know. The only thing we have to observe is absolute incompleteness.
Also, I didn’t like the fact that “terminators” (the word has never been used in the series), hypothetically multifunctional cybermachines from the future, in fact, are too narrow-minded, like the bots from the first Warcraft, Their low-level directive “destroy” and its implementation, more like cheap horror of the eighties. The sad thing is that there is no serious, smart, worthy opponent in the series, which is really worth fearing And it is difficult to believe that the software of robots from the future, there are no functions, data exchange, with the server, computers, other robots, no configuration updates, no access to mobile networks, Wi-Fi, computer networks. . .
I don't believe it! I was puzzled when Cromarty tried to get a list of school students from the department’s computer ' the grandfather' method. Funny... I think robots from the future should have all the functionality they need, not just to penetrate any secure network, but also to hack and control software-driven devices. And this, in my opinion, an important nuance, unfortunately, in the script, was not played.

I came across the series by accident when I was looking for something to watch while I was going to school. I'll tell you right away. The project of seven screenwriters led by the creator of the universe, James Cameron, turned out to be very, very high-quality.
The series is presented as a logical continuation of the first two films (it is not related to the third film, which is for the best). The plot is simple: Sarah and John Connor fight to survive for their future. At first, it is, but series after series, the plot twists and produces unexpected twists and branches. For the first time, machines are shown not just killer dolls executing a program, but something more: smart, cunning, evolving.
The cast is selected filigree, each character is exactly the way it should be. Lying, I don't believe that the John that we're shown will make the perfect John Connor Bale (but Thomas Dekker is still playing well, trying). A separate word about Summer Glau - she perfectly played her role, no words, a great smart girl.
The series ended up being simply inhumane. It is impossible to end the season so intriguingly and unspeakably and close the project. Now I will go to discover “Firefly” and “Mission Serenity”, it is easy to guess why:

"Terminator." The Sarah Connor Chronicles. A masterpiece series. The magnificent Summer Glau, the harsh Lena Headey, the courageous Brian Austin Green.
Special effects at an unexpectedly high level for the series.
The script is cunning, verified to such small details that you are amazed. The confrontation of the future Skynet and a small detachment of the modern Resistance is presented steeper than spy games or a match of grandmasters at the chessboard. Like a detective! The intrigue is twisted famously!
It is said that 11 writers worked on the script! Oh, those scriptwriters! Made us fall in love with Cameron, cry and worry - and Connor often loses people close to him, and shocked by the ending in season 2: what about the sequel? Where's Season 3? Yes, the channel's financial policy, yes, the writers' strikes, yes, the budget didn't pay off, but.. Thank you for giving me such a wonderful story!
I recently saw a trailer for the upcoming film Terminator 5, which will be released in 2015. Rejoice, fans! Summer will be there! (Furlong and Patrick and Hamilton and Schwartz and Bien) It's gonna go on!
For all my equal attitude to the Terminator saga, the series was watched with great pleasure. Yes, we will not drink, not in tedious anticipation of the next series, but interest did not fade almost to the very end.
What is 'Terminator: Battle for the Future'? Not the most original plot construction, consisting of a combination of global history and mystery in each separate series, repeated in many TV series of our time, from ' Edge' to ' Visitors', the scale and mood of which is closest to this tape. However, the film has that spirit of the very first 'Terminator', with its mysterious tall alien from the future, completely destroyed by crowds of cyborgs from the third and fourth parts.
Timekeeping is replete with action scenes, and I must say, they are made at the level - robots crush the district and each other with undisguised enthusiasm and large-scale destruction. At the same time, there is no feeling ' Baby rebellion' - despite the presence of two combat units in the face of women in the main roles.
Lena Headey is certainly the best decoration of this picture, underrated by Hollywood, she breaks off in the series for three, which is in ' Game of Thrones' that is here. Her determined look, her confident grace and incredible dedication - Lena is a worthy replacement for Linda Hammilton. The spectacular Summer Glau is the main carrier of humor in the series, her Terminator learns to be a person, getting into various piquant situations - a great find of writers.
'Terminator: Battle for the Future' not just fan fiction, but a worthy element of the universe created by James Cameron.
I've never seen a better show. Maybe the fact is that I rarely watch TV shows, but there is a stunning plot, great actors, raises non-trivial moral, ethical, philosophical issues. There are several plot lines and they overlap. Add to this the paradoxes of time and the touching relationship of young John Connor with his favorite deadly toy. The series is very action-packed - almost all the characters leave it in a coffin.
Some ask if John Connor slept with a Terminator girl. Listen, what's so vulgar? It's like sleeping with an iPhone. Although in the most recent series, teenage viewers had a holiday - Connor took off his bra from the terminator. To perform maintenance – check the battery. Or maybe she just wanted to get close to him because he touched her heart with his hand. Before the last fight, her chip began to malfunction, hence the strange desires: then fix your hand, then check the battery. And while he slept, she sat beside him and looked at the overlord with cosmic sadness and inhuman wisdom in her eyes. The teen's rainbow dream is a dedicated killer bodyguard in a bra, but when an artificial creature declares ', I'm a machine. I can't be happy #39; I really want to cry.
From the series blows beyond hopelessness. From all ' Terminators' blows hopelessness, because whatever the plot ends, humanity still lost. But only the series allows you to fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of tragic hopelessness, it sucks and does not let go to the end. Stupid events occur, they should not occur, but each participant of events, including the terminators, is guided by his own ideas about how to arrange this world - everything is like in life.
For example, a Terminator girl knows almost everything about John Connor's future, but can't tell her until she's asked. And the Connors don't ask about the future so as not to influence it. The only question Connor allows himself is what would John Connor from the future do in this situation, until one day the Terminator girl answers him ' there is no John Connor from the future, there is only you '
Another example: in the future, John Connor, the leader of the Resistance, sends an offer of cooperation to renegade machines, Skynet's enemies. Through a faithful Terminator girl, he gets an answer 'no'. After that, the Terminator girl travels back in time, and in the past, John receives an offer of cooperation from the renegade machines. John doesn't understand the question and the Terminator girl is in charge of it 'Net' She took revenge, and then they took revenge. It's very sad.
I can't even remember what other TV series would make me feel so conflicted. On the one hand, how not to rejoice in the serial embodiment of the cult franchise? On the other hand, very, very many questions to the creators of this show. Everything in order...
I’ll tell you right away that I won’t kick the writers too much. Obviously, the plot was greatly influenced by the decision to close the series after the second season. The ratings, unfortunately, were not the same. Accordingly, it was necessary to sharply curtail the plot, simplify the lines, leave many questions unsolved, and in the end, something completely, completely incomprehensible came out in the finale. What was the point of what happened? Personally, I never understood, even got the impression that I decided to finish “somehow”.
But even with these excusable circumstances, it is impossible not to admit that the plot series is extremely uneven. Some episodes looked so indistinct that it is not even clear why they were filmed. The scenes of war in the future were particularly distressing. Well, it's something completely disgraceful... And yet much comes from the future of every people, warm-blooded and iron. The feeling that time machines are ownerless. Nevertheless, there were many and quite interesting moments, so not everything, not everything is bad.
What did I like personally? This is the relationship between John and Cameron. It's Freudian. The guy is irresistibly attracted to a killer robot, but it is terribly embarrassing. In the last episode, they even almost kissed, but “a little” does not count. Curiously, curiously, Cameron's motives remain unclear. But let us put it to the circumstances mentioned above. The storylines of the other two main terminators, Cromarty and Weaver, also seemed interesting. I especially note the latter - this is the first role of Shirley Manson, in the world of the soloist of the group Garbage, but she coped just fine for the debutante.
Acting work is decent enough for the series. Lena Hedy is quite adequate as Sarah Connor. Yes, a somewhat psychopathic person turned out, well, so anyone would go crazy if he lived such a life. I really liked Summer Glau. Playing a robot is not easy, especially for a woman, but her character is just a charm, and at the same time not a cute one, but a ruthless fighting machine. For me, the best scenes were with her. About Shirley I have already said, well, the rest ... the pictures do not spoil, let’s say.
As a summary: it is quite possible to watch, fans of the Terminator Universe even need it, just don’t expect too much – well, the series is a series.
