The plot is secondary, of course. We took one theme and the second, and both have their own traditions and stamps. The theme of the cowboy is supposed to glorify the cool wanderer who comes to a desert Texas town, the theme of aliens is supposed to be fast interceptors, kidnapping people, the main ship, parasitism on our resources. And they mixed it all into one movie. It turned out a crossover between two sets of cliches. However, it was interesting to watch: despite the lack of novelty in each of the topics, it appeared at their intersection. In addition, I did not notice the blunders, there is nothing superfluous in the film, everything is done qualitatively and on a level. I would say this is the best film of the genre of "these against these". Although the genre itself is no good. Other representatives: "Aliens in the neighborhood", "Monsters vs. Aliens", "Freddy vs. Jason", "Leprechaun in space" and other labuda.
I put off watching this movie for a long time for a simple reason - because of the title it sounded like a slightly parody or comedic sci-fi western. It's actually nothing like that. No problem with acting or effects. Overall, not a bad job to watch, especially for science fiction fans.
Daniel Craig wakes up in the desert and doesn’t know who he is or where he is. The film begins as an ordinary western in the spirit of Sergio Leone’s films, when the hero Clint Eastwood comes to a small town to break the old way of life and reign justice. But gradually turns into a fantastic western action movie with powerful special effects! It turns out that the unknown is wanted for robbery and is the leader of the gang. And his skirmish with the warriors of the local city and Colonel hero Harrison Ford will be hindered by alien beings who periodically bring fear to the city and grab the locals in their ships with their latches. Monsters on Earth mine gold, and they need people for experiments.
How to win with the help of ancient muskets of aliens? Craig has a special alien weapon on his hand, which he took from aliens, it will become the only hope for salvation for everyone. As a result, all bandits, cowboys and Indians will unite for a final fight with the aliens. The film is quite dynamic, an interesting dynamic plot, a lot of cool ideas and surprises, aliens are perfectly drawn, Daniel Craig looks powerful and fearless, watched the film in one breath. Did he really surprise Craig if he looked old and crumpled or did he have that makeup? Will the new Bond be the same old or will it replace the actor?
Estimates (on a five-point scale)
Now it's a little sad to think that John Favreau's name wasn't always associated with Marvel. About the fate of "Vikings vs. Aliens", as well as generally about such a tape, the director could not hear, so "Cowboys vs. Aliens" was created without much fear. Even the cast boasts such stars as Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford.
The Wild West is the XIX century, but since the Roswell incident was still many years away, the events shown in principle fit into the concept of paleocontact, besides the slogan "First Content". The last “resistance” reminds me of that. This film is good as a western and as a fantasy, but first and foremost as a thriller. Already in the opening scene, there is a small screener that sets the audience in the right way, and then we see aliens that slightly resemble the aliens from District 9, but much more ferocious and cruel. Perhaps, in general, the most cruel of those that appeared in well-known films, since they literally put inhuman experiments on prisoners.
Harrison Ford has one famous space saga in the piggy bank, so the writers could not resist referring to "Star Wars". In the cowboy hat, the hero of Ford resembles Indiana Jones, only here he is initially negative. It is difficult to say how things would have turned out if not for the presence of aliens.
As a Western, the film was incredibly exciting, although there are some inaccuracies and exaggerations in it. Now, for example, we know that in the Wild West it was forbidden to shoot in cities, and at the entrances even demanded the surrender of weapons. It is clear that the film does not observe this rule, so as not to seem too boring. Shootings, escape of prisoners, robberies and mass battles are all integral features of the genre, and Cowboys vs. Aliens do not miss the opportunity to remind viewers of the gold rush, giving us the opportunity to look at it from the outside.
A big plus is the unification of the characters of different cultures and estates before the general danger, and against which, however, Craig’s hero is not lost. This image of the American legend is the basis of the Western. Without appropriate music and a moderately pathetic ending, such films are impossible to imagine, and we love them for this. The hero has drama, there is backstory, there is struggle and, of course, there is a hat with which he never parted.
The obvious drawbacks of Cowboys vs. Aliens are only one strange scene with magic, as well as a senseless self-sacrifice in the finale, without which it was quite possible to do. In addition, some night scenes were too dark. Otherwise, it's a very good movie, leaving far behind "Vikings vs. Aliens."

1873, Arizona. A cowboy who has lost his memory comes to his senses in the desert. He comes to a town near Absoluzhen. He encounters Colonel Dolarhyde’s son and discovers he is a wanted criminal. And the town and surroundings are terrorized by terrible creatures.
The screen adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name with a budget of $ 160 million. The director was John Favreau, who shortly before actually launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe, shooting two parts of Iron Man. He put together a decent cast. Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell. In the entourage of a typical Western (a small dusty town, deserted neighborhoods, cowboys, bandits, Indians) tried to cram evil aliens, which the standard characters of the cinematic Wild West and oppose. But the picture failed miserably at the box office.
There are several reasons. A linear story without much surprise. There is not much action on the two-hour timekeeping, which is concentrated mainly at the end of the picture. Too serious tone of the picture and the performance of actors, especially Craig and Ford. The film is banal boring to watch, no tension, no fascinating narrative.
It would seem, potentially a good idea: to cross in one film a western and a fantastic action movie about aliens. I'm sorry the implementation has blown up. There's nothing to do. But very disposable.
The favorite of many Daniel Craig in the image of a cowboy with a cool gadget on his wrist, surrounded by 19th century America. When cowboys are attacked by a UFO – this has not happened yet, but the pluses end there.
“Cowboys vs. Aliens” is one of those movies in which the first half is cool and interesting, but the second half and the ending is just that. Couldn’t you come up with something more intriguing, original and unbeaten?
Over the years, I watched this film five times, and at each viewing I caught myself thinking that the second part of the film is boring, banal and not interesting. The only one is an unusual plot with Ella, played by the owner of an expressive atypical appearance Olivia Wilde, surprised and pleased. But that's it. Thanks for Harrison Ford, too. So there are already two cool actors in the film.
Therefore, once look still worth it, if you have not yet watched, but you will want to review knowing the denouement of slutty, unless you are an avid lover of films about aliens.

In the middle of the last century, westerns were the most popular genre in Hollywood. But over the past 20 years, worthy representatives of the cinema about cowboys can be counted on the fingers.
Judging by the title 'Cowboys vs. Aliens' is a B-category film. But the director here is John Favreau (at that time he had already shot two parts ' Iron Man'). And the film has a star cast: Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano, Keith Carradine. And the actors are trying. But the problem is that in addition to the title from category B in 'Cowboys vs. Aliens' there was also a script with replicas of characters.
In 'Cowboys vs. Aliens' all typical Western characters are present: cowboys, Indians, bandits, a lone hero, a bloodthirsty rich man with a nasty offspring, a fatal beauty, a sheriff and a pastor. But this time they are fighting not only with each other, but also with an unknown enemy with vague motives.
An impressive budget of 163 million dollars, as I understand it, in large part went to famous actors. Because there are relatively few special effects for a science fiction film: aircraft and aliens in the last half an hour. And personally, the design of these aliens upset me: they turned xenomorphs (there are even a couple of visual references to ' Aliens'); but with stupid fish muzzles and an illogical anatomical solution. But, of course, the budget went to beautiful shots of prairies and canyons, authentic costumes and horses.
Cowboys vs. Aliens & #39 had a good chance of becoming a franchise, and even regaining interest in Westerns. But the film came out too boring and it is unclear for which viewer shot.
If you like the mix of genres.
If you need logic in the script, if you can't take Harrison Ford in a cowboy hat, but without a whip.
Bold cinematic experiments to cross genres and diverse ideas have been gaining momentum in recent years. But sometimes there are projects on the screens that can not be expected. This is exactly the case. This picture follows one famous expression: What if...? And indeed, even from the name it follows that we have a rather unconventional solution. Director John Favreau has earned a good reputation by directing the first two films about Iron Man from Marvel comics. Having received a large budget and a wide advertising campaign, the authors hoped for success, but in fact the reviews were very ambiguous, although there was no outright failure.
By genre, this is a killer mixture of a classic western, a fantastic action movie about an alien invasion, a thriller, and even with elements of drama. It is important to understand that this is a purely entertaining movie attraction, which does not try to be anything more than just a fascinating film. A rather daring idea might have won if not for some caricature that is noticeable, both in the appearance of uninvited guests and in the silly dramatic line. And the motives of the aliens do not cause anything except a smile. However, do not pay attention to all the stupidities in the film abound. This is not an attempt to resurrect such an important genre as the Western, and this is what was blamed on the creators of the tape, but an attempt to combine completely different ideas into one story.
The very spirit of the Wild West is conveyed quite accurately. Cowboys, Indians, gunfights and horse chases are all on the screen. A brutal protagonist, a wanderer without a name, a serving colonel, a mysterious stranger, an Indian chief, an insecure and indecisive doctor, a sheriff and a hooligan boy. All these archetypes correspond to typical cliches and cliches. However, we are not watching a highly intelligent film, but an absurd entertaining film, and therefore do not pay attention to the shortcomings.
A lot of shooting, explosions and fights, well entertained for a long time. Sometimes, though, the tape looks tight. There is a lack of humour and sometimes a lack of dynamics. But the frivolous style does not burden the head. Excellent special effects, good musical accompaniment and excellent work of costumers and decorators are the main advantages of the tape. The appearance of the aliens looks good, but quite standard and not original.
The film involves a star cast. The main role is played by Daniel Craig and I must say he is a great fit for the role of a tough cowboy. You can see a British intelligence agent, but that's not bad. Harrison Ford appeared in the image of a cruel colonel holding the district with a steel grip. But in reality, he is an honest and decent person who will easily risk his own life to save others. The rest look more or less tolerable, but they do not differ in special dramaturgy.
Cowboys vs. Aliens is an atmospheric, original, but at the same time absurd mixture of a classic western with a fantastic film about the invasion of aggressive aliens. Stupid plot, numerous cliches and cliches, as well as general comedy are not serious shortcomings. This is an exceptionally entertaining blockbuster that looks great if you want to rest your brains. A good option for a one-time view.
The crossbreeding of genres in cinema has been engaged for a long time. The most unusual examples are enough. But the name itself pushes for a mixed reaction. After all, to interfere with the western with fiction, where cowboys fight alien creatures, have not tried before. Thinking about what it might look like, there is interest and absurdity at the same time. Such a mix is clearly difficult to imagine. It would be a lie to call this experiment a success. The producers (under the direction of the great Spielberg) did everything possible to shoot their project. With the mega-success of Iron Man in mind, it was directed by John Favreau. He received a huge $ 163 million for this risky idea, and star actors for the main roles. Judging by the fact that in the end they suffered losses of at least $ 50 million, they were waiting if not a fiasco, then a failure for sure.
Viewers in the cinemas of course did not get the tape. And those who saw her did not provide a particularly warm reception. So did the journalists 6. The reasons are possible both in the script and in the production itself. Not only that this comic was born for an extremely long time, so his plot was later remade by a bunch of screenwriters. There is enough strange, illogical behavior and actions of the characters, understatement, and a large number of characters. Some of them are superfluous. Instead, the film could use a bit of humor. So apparently D. Favreau did not cope with the task. From "Cowboys ..." could come out much interesting and high-quality spectacle.
Not as bad as it might seem at first glance. There's enough effect in the shot. Very decent stunt tricks, and brutally charismatic D. Craig. Of course, his Bond has the same qualities. But here he is completely different, and this image suits him very well. H. Ford wears his Indiana Jones hat, too. It's like he's 45 again. For female beauty here is responsible O. Wild. As Comrade Stalin said, when he did not like movies or performances, “actors are not to blame.”
Bulldog and rhinoceros mix didn't work out much. If you like westerns or fiction, it is better to focus purely on them. Favreau is a solid director. I highly recommend his "Jungle Book." Only this work was the weakest that he could see. It was beautiful until the aliens appeared, and they did not stuff it at all.

Absolution. This provincial town, located, by simple verb, in the Wild West, now and closely becomes a witness to unprecedented phenomena. The area was attacked, which neither in a fairy tale to say nor pen to describe. A formidable force. Residents call it “demons”, because they are religious, they are used to living between cacti, in the middle of the prairies.
And these? Supostates... We are viewers who have seen different things, and of course, easily recognized in the “demons” of aliens from other planets. Although, hand on heart, it is very difficult, after reading the title of the film, not to understand: who is here before the eye.
It's not a synopsis. In fact, in truth, what really aroused curiosity is how the legend Harrison Ford will perform on the same stage and the asterisk that has risen and shined for more than the first year - Daniel Craig.
Well, it is reasonable to say that the latter not so long ago admitted to the public that he is a homosexual. Alas, just as we Russians were not taught tolerance, we never could. We went the other way. And I just stressed that looking through the prism of this realization, you look at the scenes in a different way, where the actor is constantly chasing girls through the plot, so that they stop pursuing his hero. Oh, he didn't even play. He lived those moments! Like a joke, but you know the truth in each of them. In the course of the play, the main character wakes up and finds amnesia and a mysterious bracelet on his arm. The cause of the first phenomenon and the force of the second had yet to be known.
Maybe it's old Ford. Han Solo (and for someone Indiana Jones) is now an elderly colonel Dolarhyde - in fact, the owner of the city with which even the authorities do not want to compete. But he does not allow himself much, unlike his negligent son (Paul Dano). And of course the heroes will meet. And not only this, if I may say, puppy, will be a stumbling block. And the story goes back to the past. Lonergan (D. Craig) got a "casket" with Dolarhyde's money. But the kid's smart and doesn't remember anything. This is when the story starts!
Antagonists are forced to reconcile, because the enemy of an unidentified force has stepped on the throat. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, everyone knows that. It was interesting, of course, to see the aliens shown by the director of this film – John Favreau. But more or less (and then stealthily and in the dark) this can be done only after an hour of viewing. Or maybe less, because I immediately say: I watched the director’s version, and there are other measures.
The purpose of these creatures? What are you here for? All this is not far off ( clarification of the cause). And I will note the bold approach of the writers. But I'll tell you, there's something I didn't like. Although it seems that everything here is saturated... Some of the satellites of the resistance group (let’s call it that) may be representatives of another alien race. Judge for yourself what you say.
So what does this film deserve? He is not close to the title of the masterpiece. Well, first of all, it's a cross between western and fiction. And secondly, if you look closely, the picture again brings to mind the current Americans and Indians. I don’t even know the position of the creators: what they like – country, or rock (only those who watched South Park, will understand what I mean). But that, I suppose, is not the main thing. Look! Aliens drifted into the nineteenth century. So far they have been our days and our future.
Who died in the general battle? Who died in a great defeat? (as Yegor Letov would say). There are no plans to reveal any cards. Look and find out.
"Cowboys vs. Aliens" or "Remembering Everything with Daniel Craig."
Director John Favreau is good - he does not stop there, but constantly progresses and makes different films. Instead of continuing to direct another Iron Man movie, he chose Cowboys vs. Aliens. We'll talk about him now.
Plot:
America of 1873. When he wakes up, the main character cannot remember anything about himself: Who is he? What's he doing here? What the hell is that bracelet on his arm? Upon reaching the city, he is almost immediately put behind bars, as they found a certain Jake Lonergan - a dangerous robber and criminal. Waiting for execution for his sins, the hero is saved only by aliens who begin to kidnap people. Soon, the surviving residents of the town decide to find and destroy the aliens, as well as return the kidnapped people. They are waiting for a “fun” adventure.
Director:
The film was directed by John Favreau, known at that time only for two parts of the film “Iron Man”. In fact, for him it was a new test in his career, as well as for the writers, who in this film as many as 7!I think that because of the huge number of writers out of the film came a bunch of small. From the spectacular action film, which does not let us get bored, we got quite not a bad tape, but the effect, some "power" in it is not enough, but most importantly, it is very much delayed and it would be better that it would be reduced by 10 minutes. What's there to say? The script is really not easy and not very convenient, but that the script would write at once 7 people. It's something new. I don’t want to scold Jon Favreau and probably won’t have to, because you can say that he coped with his work, but not without reproaches. The special effects in the film are also very much and it is not surprising with such a budget (163 million), but it does not even seem that the film pulls on such money.
Actors:
The film features famous actors such as Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell and others. Play actors can be called standard – what they are told, they do, but unfortunately there is no spark in their game. I liked the game of Ford, a man of tough and cruel, who at first worries only about his business, but in the end he understands that business is not the main thing. The main honor and friendship. Olivia Wilde is not remembered, but she can really reveal her talent, but in this film she showed nothing. Most actors are also not remembered in their roles. Also, Daniel Craig, who played the main role, could not really reveal himself, although it was clear that he was trying to his fullest, and even lost 9 kilograms for this role, but nevertheless his game can be called the same as the game of the others - standard, where there are no memorable moments.
Total:
The average film of a famous director with famous actors, a large budget, but did not justify the entire cost, with a long script, which made as many as 7 people. Alas, but still I want to praise Favreau for his efforts that he did not shoot a few more films about the Iron Man, and began to look for his fame in other projects! This is a film from the category “For once”. For the efforts of the director, the star cast, a few not bad moments, I will give the film only 6 points and then with a stretch.
It would be better if the main characters played those they know how to play.
So, Cowboys vs. Aliens. Honestly, I expected more from the film and it would be better if the main characters played those they know how to play - Indiana Jones and 007. Acting was absent from the film completely, except that the Indian who was in the gang of actor Ford made a positive impression. Who did 007 play? A cowboy or narcissistic type who pretended to be either Rambo or Terminator.
The plot of the film is also rather strange, even more transparent. The only thing that puzzles me is, why would aliens want gold? No, of course, I understand it is necessary for our country, which has default or huge inflation every 10 years, and gold will not depreciate, but again aliens? Did they also have a sudden crisis? While walking home from the cinema, he tried to figure out what they used it for, but could not come to a conclusion.
It is also necessary to highlight the dialogue, who wrote them? They are so naive and simple that even for action movies are not suitable, and for a film with a budget of more than 100 million dollars you could try.
I had a chance to watch the film alone, so I tried to watch the film carefully, and if in general, the film is just for those people who will come to the cinema with their halves, there are episodes where you can “out of fear” embrace, laugh from the absurdity of dialogue and just have a good two hours of their free time.
Case Absolushen: Alien Nation. (Western vs. fiction)
So, a movie that no, no, and talk about. I don't think he's getting a pedestal. But to deny his place in the niche of cinema, which he rightfully occupies, is probably also reckless. And so I don't want to go from empty to empty, I'll talk about my impressions.
To me, as a spectator specific, as a spectator not led to the wrapper, this film seemed average. That is, it would probably be too critical to take him down. But I was just as tired of watching Cowboys vs. Aliens as I was. Yes, so that I already did not care what whales the plot is based on, and how things began to approach their logical ending, I simply did not care: how everything will be resolved, how many people will remain alive and whether at all. And the revelation -- that things are usually crowned -- made me say, "Oh, that's it, right?" Mmm, okay, that's all.
And that's kind of how it looked. In some places, however, I woke up, some shots I liked, but in general, if I hadn’t seen this film, absolutely nothing would have changed in my life. As after watching it, I found neither morality nor pleasure.
I was expecting something easy and unobtrusive. Like a comedy. In addition, this film hurt itself by the fact that there is a mixture of inconvenient genres – western and fiction – here our reflection, and the reflection of this seems to have become in a crooked mirror. The success of “Back to the Future 3” this synthesis did not repeat.
The main character has a secret here. And this secret is a mystery even to himself. And the viewer, we have to wait and wait. And, oh, my God, it must have been great when this secret came out. But while we see the hero on his hand a powerful bracelet - not the weapon, not the antenna. Powerful upgrade. He must remember everything and lead him, rally the people of the Wild West on the last campaign. Yeah, yeah, actually, that kind of thing. It could have been easier. Why load?
And here's the unequal balance. Some things are fascinating to watch. But emasculated. The way the aliens “water” with their bagpipes is impressive. The very appearance of these things? This is always the winning moment! No matter how aliens are shown, it will always be profitable. This is not the case here.
Anyway, that's how I saw this picture. It’s just like the creators just wanted to say, ‘Look how we did it!’ Are you weak?
Daniel Craig - the actor from the new "bondiana" here seemed somewhat "stuck". That's not his weakness. More like script costs. The same cannot be said about Harrison Ford. Always on horseback. From the most famous Star Wars.
This is my (perhaps trivial) opinion. But there won't be another. I will never want to watch this movie again. I wouldn’t recommend this movie for others. I hope I have expressed my opinion fully enough. Anyway, everyone enjoy watching. I'm not talking to anyone about him.
James Bond's Adventures in the Wild West: Alien Invasion
Of course, I knew in advance that crossing genres is quite difficult. Some directors Tarantino, Spielberg, Rodriguez, Leone and so on do this perfectly. Many directors try to make money by investing millions in their empty films. I was hoping for the best in this movie.
Western
In terms of westerns, it's not so bad at all. Beautiful scenery, sheriff, cowboys, scorching sun and so on. The atmosphere is beautiful, the only downside is that all the money was spent on computer aliens, so it doesn’t fit into this movie. Also shots from revolvers are similar to shots from children's pistols with pistons.
Fantastic
I love fiction, but not everything. Recently, directors are chasing scale and effect, completely forgetting that the movie should carry some meaning, it should have a bright idea. It was clear that all the efforts were spent on drawing aliens, as well as on all sorts of explosions. This film lacks the romanticism, the unknown and the mystery that is in the films in the genre of fiction. Personally, I was not attracted to the fantastic component of this film.
Actors
Daniel Craig, as always, plays the brutal James Bond, who, compared to the “habitual cowboys” like Clint Eastwood and John Wayne, looks like Chuck Norris in the movie about love. He lacks experience, he always plays with the same face as if parodying Charles Bronson of the Italian militants of the 60-70s.
Harrison Ford looks original here. He tries to play a role and he learns a new image very easily. It’s nice that he plays not another Indiana Jones, but another completely different person.
General opinion
I was expecting a very high-quality and spectacular movie from this film, but it turned out to be "Raging Wild Western Horse Races from Aliens with James Bond." The film lacks the spirit of the Wild West and this is the main drawback. You can watch this movie, but you won’t find anything interesting in it. See another completely empty Hollywood blockbuster about the struggle of aliens and people. There are people who will like this movie, but most I think this film will not appreciate, as I do.
I will give an average rating of the film out of respect for Harrison Ford.
5 out of 10
I managed to fly, when the courtyard of the XIX century, and even land in the Wild West where the brave cowboys rule... If an armada of aliens armed to the teeth knew what fate would befall them, it would not come to Earth for gold. If dynamite with guns could repel the attack of blasters, then what would aliens do if they got into the thermonuclear-hadron XXI century! Apparently, such brainless monsters only fight monkeys, and even then, it seems, our monkeys will be smarter and just so their bananas will not give!
Now for some reason I remember an episode where a monstrous alien overtook a boy who took refuge in a cave. The entrance to the shelter is quite narrow, so the broad-shouldered monster could squeeze into it. He substitutes the sternum with three-fingered arms-tentacles extending from there and another moment, and they will reach for the victim.
A desperate boy, in a hurry, snatchs a knife given by Colonel Dolarchide, pierces them with the chest of a monster and he falls like a cripple.
Why do the rest of his relatives need at least a dozen bullets, and even then, some manage to stay on their feet, getting three kilograms of lead in their body! Either the boy got some sick alien, or the image of the alien is still modified.
These are unlikely events that could not have developed in the real world. But for science fiction, the plot is fine. It is very interesting and fascinating in itself, and most importantly, competently presented to the viewer. Thank you to John Favreau for creating a great atmosphere. I think the comic here would be like a barrel of tar.
Actors, actors... It was a pleasure for Daniel Craig! He’s never been associated with Bond and I don’t think he’s a good fit for 007. But he's a cowboy. He's a mattress. Let Mr. Craig berated for his stone face and inability to reproduce more than two emotions, it does not harm his current character.
Harrison Ford is a smart guy. He seems to be getting into the image! For him, it is not difficult to play any heroes, whether it is the captain of the ship “Millennium Falcon” in “Star Wars”, the archaeologist in “Indiana Jones” or the colonel in “Moscow vs.”. sorry, in “Cowboys vs. Aliens”. Very pleased that in the Russian dubbing, Ford is voiced by Vladimir Antonik with his charismatic, bright and courageous voice!
In general, the picture was pleasant to watch from beginning to end.

Naked rocks, white sand, scorching sun, a man without socks. Awakening from a lethargic dream, one Jake Lonergan (this is how the stranger is urged by others) looks with surprise at the wound in his side and the strange metal bracelet that appeared in an unknown way on his left hand. Jake compensates for the complete lack of memory with accurate shooting and strong fists, distributing moralizing left and right on the way to the town of Absolushen. The dull village of failed gold miners is held in hedgehog gauntlets by the cattle owner Woodrow Dolarchide, a stern man with great ambitions, whose spoiled son Percy likes to scare the townspeople with his father.
Lonergan himself, except for two sad shots from the past, does not remember anything, so with well-hidden surprise he finds out that the residents of Absolushen are not happy with him. Our Jake in the past robbed stagecoaches, led an immoral lifestyle and was the leader of a gang of thugs, until to the great joy of the sheriff did not disappear in an unknown direction. But Dolarchide, whose gold reserves were appropriated by Jake, can't wait to nail the scum, but it hurts.
If we had Clint Eastwood or Sergio Leone in front of us, we would have witnessed a dramatic denouement in the confrontation between two charismatic shooters, one of whom would inevitably fall victim to his own pride or stupidity. But the production of the picture was engaged not by the experienced connoisseur of Westerns, but the child of comics John Favreau, who earned deserved praise for his dilogy about Iron Man. And therefore, in the midst of a verbal polemic between a former bandit with amnesia and a cool landowner, a cavalcade of alien invaders descends on Absolushen.
Without waiting for farmers to finish their modest dinner, space aggressors began grabbing panicking citizens by the waist and dragging them into the frowny night sky. It is quite possible that Absolushen would have been completely deprived if our James Bond in a cowboy hat (Daniel Craig did not hesitate to repeat his image of an uncompromising agent without banknotes) did not start firing from his left hand at the iron smacking in the air. The first shot turned out to be accurate, and the survivor of the “alien” fettered, marking the ground with blood-green spots.
On the city council, which included all the survivors, including Dolarchide, Lonergan, the local bartender-doctor (unbeknownst to the unshaven Sam Rockwell), the mysterious girl Ella, a nativeless boy and his mongrel, it was decided to give an answer to the hated Khazars. The equestrian squad is formed on the high principle of Hollywood blockbusters: the main character, armed with a plasmogan, is accompanied by powerful old men, beautiful but useless in battle, women, children and a doctor who previously shot only cigarettes. Plus a dozen local rednecks, who are destined to play the role of steak with blood in an unequal battle with alien monsters.
John Favreau, in general, went down the beaten path, taking the comic book of the same name as the basis of his opus. But he was opaquely hinted at the need to film the third “Iron Man”. But the director firmly believed in the possibility of creating a neo-Western. And after temporarily frozen Bond, and Daniel Craig unexpectedly got a breath of fresh air, Favreau hastened to join him to decrepit, but not losing charm Harrison Ford in the composition of “Cowboys vs. Aliens”. Add here the charming Olivia Wilde and the talented youth in the person of Paul Dano and Noah Ringer (“Lord of the Elements”). Usually, when you pick up such a motley company, it smells like either money or a big cowboy hat. In our case, the gold ringed only on the screen, and the hat happened to the producers of the project.
If you do not know that “Cowboys” was shot by Favreau, and not by some Uwe Ball or Sigismund Tapochkin, then you could forgive the tape the extreme drearyness and trembleness of the narrative. One gets the impression that Favreau wanted to shoot space action in the leisurely manner of a Western. He might as well have wanted to fry an egg from Jerusalem artichoke. Because it is impossible to combine such different genres without infringing on someone’s rights. The authors turned out not even glaze, but chatter, because mixing everything in equal proportion (cowboys, Indians, aliens, love, sadness and tears of happiness), at the output, the audience had an impassably dull and predictable film.
It is shameful and painful to watch Indiana Jones age inexorably. How recklessly squanders his dramatic talent, Craig. How cheaply Olivia Wilde sells her natural beauty. How idiotically the Indians jump around a fire, poking themselves and strangers with fiery water, from which it is not that old sins you remember, new ones you will spit. The joint horse campaign of cowboys and Indians ends at the symbolic Dark Tower, where the vicious slimy aliens, reminiscent of Nazi occult scientists, took refuge. It’s hard not to laugh when a crowd of monsters with huge blasters falls down in front of a handful of antediluvian “colts” and Indian arrows. Such an outcome could please the audience, but Favreau’s colorful battles suddenly gave way to incoherent fuss in the bushes, against the background of which the West German hit “The Faithful Hand is a friend of the Indians” looks almost like “Avatar”.
We can discuss for a long time the absurdities and absurdities of John Favreau’s project, but we will not beat the lying one. The picture absolutely deservedly failed in the box office of all countries, having managed with great difficulty to step over the mark of 100 million. On a budget of 175. Largely due to the presence in the frame of Craig and Ford, as well as the cheerful music of Harry Gregson-Williams, reminiscent of the notes of the famous “McKenna Gold” at the beginning of the film. Alas, everything else, from the idle languid Wilde in the frame to the extremely illogical plot, causes the viewer to yawn and the desire to increase the speed of the player. The last privilege was denied to those who became hostage to the situation in cinemas.

Not as cool as I expected, but not bad.
The movie starts off as a surprise! “Vikings vs. Aliens”: a tough guy with a high-tech bracelet comes to a local settlement and runs into trouble. In this case, is it wanted robber Jake Lonergan? No, seriously?), and only they want to send him to a federal prison, when several flying saucers appear, a town of ranchers is set on fire and half of them are dragged to unknown places. The survivors – and this is a brutal rancher, a former military man, a boy of ten years, a former doctor who somehow holds a saloon, a priest and a mysterious whore – are forced to unite to save their loved ones from the citadel of aliens. And for Jake, this is also the only way to remember his own past.
In fact, the film has a huge number of logical holes that are difficult to close your eyes to. Aliens are physically developed monsters, despite their high technologies behave exactly like monsters (they fight mainly with claws and try to devour the defeated enemy). They mine gold, but why is unexplained, and the reason should be very good if traveling to another star system (and apparently back, because they are not building a colony on Earth) pays off. But if they need gold so much and they are so contemptuous of people, why haven't they visited Fort Knox yet? And finally, who conducts vivisection of unfixed test subjects and why leave personal weapons within their reach?
In general, the western part is much more interesting and successful than the fantastic one - maybe because the western genre is like a well-established mechanism, if you could run it without breaking it, then little is required from you further. The most successful scene, in my opinion, is Jake’s first appearance in the city and his encounter with the colonel’s son – a scene that would look decent in any Western and does not contain anything fantastic.
In general, Favreau uses the same tactics that brought him success in "Iron Man" - to combine the unassuming and unrealistic plot of a fantastic action movie with bright, charismatic and if relatively authentic characters. Jake Lonergan, played by Daniel Craig, is such a typical Clint Eastwood hero, stern and wordless, capable of shooting you before you blink, but with a heart of gold. More vivid as the character of Colonel Dolarchide, although he lacks a bit of integrity - a sense of duty to those he leads into battle, love for a son-fucking and cruelty could combine organically, but the authors did not last; in any case, the most memorable role of Harrison Ford that I have seen in a long time. Sam Rockwell has a rather interesting role-comic relief.
In general, Cowboys vs. Aliens can be enjoyed watching under popcorn... or you won’t lose anything you can’t miss.
I decided to join the confrontation between cowboys and aliens, watching the movie “Cowboys vs. Aliens”. Immediately I will say about the disadvantages, because their presence directly affects the pleasure of viewing:
- indistinct scenario and as a result of the confusion of the action,
The cliché of confrontation with aliens.
If you ignore these two factors, you can enjoy watching this movie. How many times the inhabitants of the United States saved the globe from alien invasions, and not count, and in order to surprise the viewer, decided to show that the vile encroachments began long before the 20th century, back in the 19th century, when the American hero only tempered the character while mastering the Wild West was a case of alien invasion. But in order. Day, prairie, wounded man with a strange bracelet on his hand ... - the beginning of the film, woke up, met angry strangers - killed, went to the nearest city, etc., that's how the simple action of the film is built, in another case would say suck, but not here - brutal Craig and no less brutal Ford decorated the film like actors, and excellent landscapes made a pleasant visual perception. We will add the color of Texas and fights with shootings, where there were cowboys, stagecoach robbers, saloons, sheriffs and of course Indians, add colorful humor in the spirit of Westerns and get quite a watchable film about saving the planet. Daniel Craig very naturally portrayed a bandit who decided to reforge, and Harrison Ford gets rid of his complexes and stereotypes during the film. Olivia Wilde very naturally depicts an alien, settling personal scores with the kidnappers and destroyers of other planets, simultaneously melting the ice in the heart of the hero Craig and reviving his memories of the past.
Yes, not a masterpiece, but the film can not be called lame, because when it comes to the destruction of aliens, the action looks cheerful and not strained. The aliens are very harmoniously inscribed in the landscape of Texas and the reality of the era, so apparently they do not cut their eyes with a clear dissonance to the other heroes. If there is free time and there is absolutely nothing to occupy it, then this film will relax in front of the screen and distract from worries.

Suddenly awakened on the prairie, an unknown man (Craig) finds himself wounded, has a strange bracelet on his hand and remembers nothing. Having arrived not without incident in a small town and a little rest, he is arrested for banditry, and even recorded as a personal enemy of the formidable ex-Colonel Dolorheid (Ford). And all this under the harsh attack of extraterrestrial machines and the disappearance of loved ones. Enemies become friends, and revenge is sent to the channel of extraterrestrial invaders. Here is a brief description of an interesting and truly extraordinary project of recent years - "Cowboys vs. Aliens" directed by John Favreau and executive producer Steven Spielberg. At first glance, such a topic is revolutionary and will read a lot of entertaining moments, but not everything is so simple.
The picture, despite the plot, turned out to be more of a classic western than a fantastic action movie. And this is where all the classic cliches of such a movie come out – a mandatory fight in the saloon, a showdown with the local sheriff, a meeting with a gang of mean and heartless bandits, a difficult relationship with the Indian tribe and, of course, a general unification before the final battle. At some point, you even forget what the movie is about and you watch a good old movie about cowboys, bandits and Indians, and aliens are another gang. When the film came out in 2010, many people, including myself, expected a more innovative approach and extraordinary action in the frame. But Favreau paid tribute to the classics and slightly framed it with a fantastic component, as always successfully drawn by the best special effects studio ILM. And from here – the inability to find fault with the technical aspects of the picture. And after a long time after the premiere and lowering the degree of supernatural expectations, the viewer can really appreciate this project and smile somewhere with nostalgia.
As for the very idea of confrontation, it still has a bit of absurdity. Still, old guns, bows and arrows, cavalry will not be able to defeat high-tech invaders who also flew half of space. But a fairy tale so that we can get away and feel like grown children. And we all knew what we were watching when we read the title, Cowboys vs. Aliens, and went to see it!
The main characters of the film performed by Craig and Ford this time turned out to be really interesting semi-villains with secrets in their pocket and cruelty and strong will outside. Although formally the narrative is conducted on behalf of Lonergan, Dolorheid has no less screen time. also perfectly revealed secondary characters, especially the Indian servant of the colonel and the clumsy Doc, owner of the saloon. Well, the heroine of Olivia Wilde acted as a pleasant scenery, not particularly overloading the action and being a kind of stimulus to the hero Craig.
In the end, I want to say that the project “Cowboys against aliens” should be more condescending and after a while soberly assess all its advantages. Believe me, they still weigh more minuses.
Well, this is the case. Morning g / g (here and then "the main character") did not immediately: woke up in a clean field, the shirt is torn, the skin on the sexy torso - also, on the arm of a woman's bracelet, the head cracks - can not remember not only yesterday, but even the name of the patronymic on the passport. The description is essentially very fitting for the first frame of "Bachelor party in Vegas - 3," with a couple of tiny exceptions: a) d/d is Daniel Craig, not Bradley Cooper; b) is the Wild West, baby. Absolute, baby. Arizona State, baby. 1873.
Therefore, it is quite natural that G/G immediately try to capture several armed horsemen, with whom he, demonstrating the enviable dexterity of all parts of the body, is finished. Then, getting the sympathy of the viewer, our hero goes to the nearest town. Here he patches a sexy torso, learns some facts from his biography (it turns out he is a person infamous in the local press), meets a beauty, lets a local major, gets into a fight and goes to prison. Not bad for one day.
But that same evening... don’t laugh any more... aliens are attacking the town. Aliens on flying saucers! And you can only imagine how the wretched cowboys and cowboy wives do not fit into the heads of all this nonsense, if they do not even have the word “aliens”. H.G. Wells has not yet written War of the Worlds, and the cinema to popularize this masterpiece with the help of George Pal (1953) and Steven Spielberg (2005). Well, come on, they'll go to a psychologist if they survive.
Real aliens, by established tradition, are completely unfamiliar with the principles of diplomacy, so they start firing cannons and with the help of giant... I find it difficult with terminology... cables with pins at the end, working on the principle of Japanese yo-yo, take prisoners. And at the most crucial moment, when the already meager population of the town was almost completely taken prisoner, the outlandish jewelry g / g suddenly lit up, festively sawed, in short, smelled the smell of the homeland or ... shot, destroying one of the “passenger” aircraft.
Everyone immediately imbued with sympathy for G/G, they say, such people we need and went with honest company to beat the aliens and rescue fathers and mothers.
Opinion:
Abstracting from the unconventional plot, I came to the conclusion that the delusional idea underlying the plot is not so delusional. Why are aliens visiting Earth at this stage of development? It seems that the aliens diplomatically waited for the sweet moment when humanity created the image of a humanoid. The authors of the script "Cowboys vs. Aliens" offer here a fresh reading of the old, as Herbert Wells, theme. In addition, the film conscientiously withstands all the plot moves inherent in the adventure genre, and the color of the Western adds exoticism and creates the entourage of the Wild West.
All the necessary figurative niches are filled: g/g (beautiful, sporty, brutal, short-spoken bad man with a kind soul and a serious moral trauma behind his shoulders), n/g (here and then the “main hero”, tries to seem negative, but positivity through him so and whispers), beauty (sexy in any outfit, persevering, good weapons), former lover (beautiful, but she never surpasses the beauty in sexuality, audacity, perseverance, and jealously, and in the end, she does not like to listen to the brightest elements of the film, but she does not like a bad girl, for good ones, but she does not likes, she does not keep her friends, for good ones, for good ones, 3/girls, for good ones, for good ones, and for good ones, and for good ones, and for good ones, she does not likes. Despite the slight touch of irony with which I covered the list, it is the most optimal and safely wanders from film to film with minor modifications. So far, no one has complained.
In addition, the images are realized as best as possible. The eye rejoices when g / g thoughtfully looks from under a wide-brimmed hat with blue eyes Daniel Craig, when n / g no no yes and blurs in the signature smile Harrison Ford, and the beauty will play with the bends of the eyebrows Olivia Wild.
Total: an unusual angle of the usual idea, conscientious compliance with genre canons, completeness of the figurative structure, a clear selection of actors, impressive scenery (urban studies, landscapes, an alien ship-base). But when the enumerated splendor came together, it turned out that THIS IS SO NEEP (here I remember Lucia Arkadyevna (aka Anna Mikhalkova), the heroine of the "Heavenly Judgment", which managed to perfectly intone this phrase). As ridiculous as the name "Cowboys vs. Aliens" sounds.
In the conditions of fierce competition in the world of cinema, the creators are trying to capture the viewer’s attention with all truths and untruths. Sometimes it comes to vandalism. A vivid example of this is expected in 2013 Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (for all my sympathy for zombies, this is just disrespect for the legendary book and film adaptation). Thus, I want to say that creative work is good and encouraging, but at the same time very delicate. You can’t just swing into a traditional alien adventure western instead of smugglers and naively expect a good result.
The film was perceived as a farce, a parody, but the characters stubbornly ran around with serious faces and clearly did not encourage laughter in the audience. In some places even tried to knock out a tear, but how can you cry when cowboys go to fight with aliens? The appearance of the latter, by the way, is the most banal - giant mucous grasshoppers. And in general, everything except the sparkling idea of aliens, including the appearance of the latter, is not different from a special flight of fantasy. Even included the most idiotic scene of all action: it goes meaty and suddenly one of the secondary characters dies, his friend runs up to him (brother, father, son, lover – is not important) and they begin to nostalgia, confess to each other in love to the grave (fortunately, neither side loses anything, giving such a promise), to choke on tears – enemies, I note, at this tragic moment there are no very delicate enemies. And it seems not the first year roaring over this scene, still beat, poor Harrison Ford - he even cried insincerely.
Summary, Where you do not need to overthink, where you need to be confused. They tried to count the incompatible and got a natural absurdity. The idea is not without meaning, but not in such an interpretation. The star trinity (Craig, Ford, Wild) resemble whipped cream, which sprinkled the missing eclairs - it looks beautiful, but you should not eat.
For an attempt to originalize and literate imagery

(the first pancake, as grinding, a lump, may be someone lucky to successfully implant aliens in the Wild West or ancient Babylon)
"Cowboys vs. Aliens" is a fantastic western about the difficult fate of cowboys who had to enter into an unequal fight with aliens.
The main character of the film for unknown reasons lost his memory, waking up on the ground under a clear sky, he does not understand who he is, and what happened to him, on his hand a strange metal bracelet, a wound in the stomach and a complete misunderstanding of what is happening.
Upon arrival at the first settlement, he discovers that the people around him clearly know him, but cannot understand who they are. In a matter of minutes, he finds himself in the epicenter of an interplanetary massacre.
The meaning of what is happening on the screen is not fully understood: what kind of alien intelligence is this, why people are attacked and abducted, it is just clear that the purpose of aliens is gold mining.
The main roles in the film went to: Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde, which in itself says a lot, only the fact that Bond fights side by side with Indiana Jones is unique.
One can be skeptical of the storyline of the film, in fact, what happens on the screen - a symbiosis of the past and the future, and in a rather concentrated form. The right to choose each viewer, what to watch the film and whether to watch at all.
Interested viewer will not be disappointed, with the participation of famous actors, the film turned out to be good and high-quality. Although in its performance it resembles many others.
I remembered and remembered about this movie, but the fabulous chance to watch still did not fall out. The name, of course, was intriguing, but the danger of getting an unknown animal at the exit remained. Actually, that's what happened. You can watch this wonderful movie, but with caution. Although it is necessary to give credit to the absolute artificiality, far-fetchedness and even the attraction of the plot behind the ears, the film turned out not just watchable, it can safely claim the title of an exciting project.
You need to have a talent to collect a vinaigrette from the plot interweavings into a holistic and harmonious narrative that does not give off dampness. Everything is logical, interconnected, with drama, love, values. The adventure of pure water, but the gluing places are camouflaged professionally.
The second happy acquisition is the cast. Courageous cowboys who know no fear, but are not deprived of purely human feelings - Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig - as if in their places. There was absolutely no sense that good actors were crammed into the movies. Neither they nor the audience (at least I have) had a feeling of awkwardness about what was happening on the screen. Olivia Wilde is a great ball queen and the right decoration.
Well, of course, a beautiful picture, which is good and nature, and scenery, and special effects.
Bottom line: from the point of view of the idea of delusions, of course, but done talented, so the filmmakers need to pay tribute. Well done.
I must say right away that the film should be approached without any expectations. If you want to find an unexpected ending in the film, infallible logic in the plot, deep meaning, drama, mind-blowing special effects, then most likely you will be disappointed.
Personally, we watched this film with a “be what happens.” And they weren't disappointed. Craig was good, as good as he can be in the role of a brutal man, Harrison Ford did not spoil raspberries, muscular slugs, they also - foreign evil looked very harmonious.
Particularly pleased that the creators managed to recreate the atmosphere of the Wild West (at least the one that everyone who was not there imagines): in fact, cowboys, horses, prairies, saloons, whiskey, shooting left-right, dust, dirt, unsanitary, colorful bandits, sultry women (in this case, a woman), and, of course, the Indians (waited for them half a movie, and waited). It is understood that the cliché, it is clear that it is beaten, but everything is done well, on conscience.
Given the original story, the overall impression is positive. While watching, they remembered "Rango", which is also plus "Cowboys". In general, the film fulfilled its mission - on Friday evening, after a hard week of work, gave the opportunity to relax the brain, forget about the pressing. That's what it took.
After watching the box office, I was surprised by the failure. The film deserves more.
This is a good example of how you should always have an opinion. I came across quite by accident - I was looking for something not too bothersome, but with a good picture to please my beloved, and I found the same. Honestly, the name confused immediately. There have been a lot of "X vs Player" of absolutely absurd content lately, so doubts were strong. But I never regretted it. Beautiful fantastic action with a very harmoniously selected cast, quite so not frail in stardom.
I was pleased and not overloaded with unnecessary details plot and picture, and the above composition.
A little more detail. What do we have in terms of plot? In the wild cowboy prairies fly strange glowing things and harassing ignorant people. Who, why, what for? is completely unclear until the middle of the film. In fact, it is almost a classic western. Here you and the prairies, and frantic horse racing back and forth, and treasures, and bandits, and beauty, and a hero with a murky past, but a strong head and a fast revolver, and, of course, a terrible evil against which everyone unites, forgetting about their internecine strife. And, as expected, many, many shot shells. And then there's the music. Oh, my God, what music! It's worth watching a movie for her. And the scenery is pleasing. Excellent camera work.
As for composition... Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig look very harmonious in the frame and do not even try to crush each other with brutality, but the spirit of rivalry, gradually turning into a partnership, their heroes are quite palpable. One does not want to give up and tries to prove that he is still on the horse, the other does not recognize the authorities and tries to prove that he does not need anyone. And I can’t believe they will agree, but glimmers of respect are already slipping through the eyes of harsh men in hats.
Olivia Wilde, for all her beauty, might well have gotten lost in these cowboys, but no. She keeps the stamp and wins her place in the film, if only because she does not try to draw attention, but just leads her line well. Her heroine, who is completely unlike a prostitute, immediately arouses suspicion. Too careful and illogical actions.
And what is important - although the film is fantastic, but with special effects not too much. All right. And the aliens are angry enough to ruin the life of cowboys, but not nasty enough to spoil the film is not about space.
10 out of 10
I have been waiting for the premiere of this film for a long time. And as it turns out, for good reason. After all, the director of the film was John Favreau, who made two wonderful films about all we know Iron Man.
Now, let's talk about the main thing.
First of all, I want to say that the idea of the film is very original. It was very interesting to see two completely different worlds. There have been many films about aliens and cowboys. But no one has combined these characters in one movie. In my opinion, John Favreau did well. He conveyed the atmosphere of the Wild West. And against this background, alien ships and all their equipment looked even more interesting and unrealistic than in other science fiction films.
All the actors are perfect. Everyone has done their job.
Daniel Craig can be admired for a very long time. In this film, as in others, he is unmatched. Loveable ladies he will long dream in a hat with a revolver.
No less incomparable Harrison Ford appears before us in the image of a harsh cowboy, for whom the laws of the Wild West are above all. He became a very respected man in the city. With his sarcastic jokes and phrases, he slightly discharges the atmosphere and this is another plus for the film.
Beauty Olivia Wilde is certainly a good actress, but this time her performance didn't strike me. In this film, she is just a beautiful addition to the star cast.
But who really surprised me is a young actor Noah Ringer, known to us from the movie “Avatar”. Of course, he played the character of the second plane, but even in those few scenes where he appeared, his talent is visible.
Special attention should be paid to the schedule and specifics. $163,000,000 was well spent. Everything came out dynamically and surprisingly plausible.
I also want to say that you should not criticize this film. It's action. You should watch this movie without straining your brain. Just relax and admire Daniel Craig or Olivia Wilde. And in general, the film already deserves attention only because the plot is very creative, which has not yet been met anywhere.
"Oh, no shit, they made it up" is my reaction to the trailer. But I just had to see it. Especially with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in the lead roles. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get to the cinema. I watched at home in good quality, sitting comfortably in a chair. Reviewing.
Plot. He woke up in the middle of the prairies. Typical landscapes of the Wild West. Who he is, where he comes from, what he does here, he remembers absolutely nothing. On the hand - shackles, not shackles - about this usually like to say in films - "What the hell is this?" Before he had time to tear his eyes open, he went. Immediately, some three suspicious personalities give the viewer to be convinced of the incredible coolness of the hero through their self-confidence and stupidity. The hero dresses, arms, saddles a horse and goes to the nearest city. There he is also not welcome, he is also looking for something from him, a strange stranger wants something, in the evening “demons” fall from the sky, the very “shit” on his hand begins to glow and throw lightning ... And all in one day. The subsequent events will not at all let the harsh guy relax, and the clarification of the personality will have to be postponed even before interfering in all this bedlam of the Indians.
Western spectacle itself is quite interesting. The beauty of the Wild West is not forgotten. And here is the subject of aliens from space. It's a cocktail. Daniel Craig’s character manages an alien device as if he were born with it. The aliens look intimidating, this is not a typical big-headed frail little kids, this is a three-meter machines, dealing with a person and hand-to-hand without any problems. But 2 moments are particularly engraved in memory. This is how the aliens get the gold they need, and the revival of the main character from fire. The most beautiful moments in my opinion.
In general and in general interesting, quite tolerable to watching a movie. Combining such different worlds, we are very rarely spoiled, there is nothing to compare, just look and enjoy.
I’ve added this film to the list for a long time, but from others at the time of the decision “Which movie should I watch?” I love fiction, where you don’t have to make a lot of effort to understand the depth of the picture, and who look with great ease after a hard day. Cowboys vs. Aliens from these films. I did not expect much from this movie, but thanks to the title it becomes still interesting how people with spears and bows can defeat aliens with cool scouts and super guns?
About the film.
John Favreau. Of all the blockbusters to which this director had a hand, I thought the weakest. It doesn’t look the way I wanted it to. West, horse chases, cowboys in cool hats, trousers with fringe, boots - all this is fine, only here for this shortage (however, maybe it should be, because all people are united against the aliens and there is no point in fighting among themselves). But everything is fine with beautiful explosions, perfectly drawn and the aliens themselves (such I have not seen), aircraft, but their main ship was more like a pile of stone, but not a highly technological spacecraft. In films of this type, there should be humor, well, at least a little, between scenes with fights, shootouts, etc. He was in Iron Man, why isn’t he here? Who knows... I wanted to go to bed a few times, but there was always something going on in the movie (for example, the secret that Ella hid from her (Olivia Wilde)) that made me look at it (this is undoubtedly a plus). There was a time when Jake (Daniel Craig) and Ella could not believe that they flew (in those days you could only dream of flying in the sky). But the scene where "Jake" effortlessly killed all the "demons" in the trumpet, as they are all like a bunch of stupid donkeys ran and died one by one - looks very ridiculous. Incidentally, throughout this picture, the alien did not flash his mind in any scene, all their actions took place on the instincts of an ordinary animal trying to protect itself. I don’t know how they could build their planes and bracelets. But there is another side, if they were very smart, people could hardly hope for any chances to win in the fight, and then cried already familiar to all the fantastic "happy end".
About the actors.
The main cowboy here is of course Daniel Craig. In blockbusters, he looks at hurrah (aka 007) with his poker face. This is no exception. Unpredictable and hot-tempered, sometimes cruel - Craig embodied on the outside - an evil and not kind bandit, and inside - a man with a "big" heart. He helps people who know all but nothing and among them his enemy from the past Woodrow. Harrison Ford, who does not want to grow old, embodied in the life of a brave hero in a hat - Woodrow Dolarchide (Indiana Jones) , who from an early age saw how to kill and how to kill. As for Olivia Wilde, I only remember her from House. He played something new for himself and for the audience. I flew to Earth, from where it would not be, and rushed to help people who even in the wildest fantasies could not imagine such a thing. She was kind and brave, trying to somehow quench her pain for loved ones, not afraid to face death. I’ve seen a couple more pictures with her, but for me it will always remain Thirteen from House.
“Cowboys vs. Aliens” is far from the best science fiction film, for 163 million greens you could come up with something better than “they need gold” and not brilliant aliens. Here to someone as — one — it is something original and interesting, the other — “somewhere I have seen it!” Here mixed into one whole fiction with the Western, which previously did not catch my eye, here may be the originality, which was talked about. I think if I had to adjust the script a little bit, the movie would have been much better than it is. Therefore, if you are a fan of this genre and have free 2 hours - this movie can be seen, but do not advise to expect anything more than this picture can give you.
5 out of 10
Another fantastic, bold and creative idea with a high-quality approach from John Favreau (the man who shot Iron Man). Wild West, cowboys, horses, modernity and does not smell, but if you mix these things with foreign invaders - aliens - "demons" will begin to intrigue. A little crazy, but really good in some places, without any hints of ridiculousness. The team did their job, but I think the money was too much. The movie didn't pay off, it's a pity. Decent.
Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig) wakes up in an unknown place with a memory lapse. There's some technical thing in the form of a bracelet. Immediately it is taken into circulation by local bandits, but it was not here, the reaction and reasonable head of the hero was not deprived. From now on, he embarks on a journey to his knowledge.
The mechanism of storytelling is set on a quite ordinary principle, but even with this, the movie at some points presented surprises. To be honest, there are very few fantastic westerns, practically no, and making such a fresh and unexpected movie was a risky step, but for me after watching everything became clear. Everything is justified except the budget. Too much invested in not the brightest and most spectacular special effects. Of course, for the Western they are crazy and divine, but for the general framework did not reach. I personally liked everything so, I myself did not draw parallels with the sophisticated fantastic rivals in cinema.
That's good. You can see the hand of the master. It was a beautiful place to be scared, too. Monsters are filmed with special love. The first is that they are amazing: lively, ferocious, no hint of an abundance of graphics. The second is movements, actions, all this was prescribed, immediately visible. You're not afraid of them, but your heart is cold. They are beasts, but they are also smart, killing which is a problem. Weapons for the Wild West were clearly scarce. Only Jake with his device was invincible.
Horse chases, wonderful views of the prairies, all this is fascinating and only adds to the pleasant viewing. The film is the most interesting. It tells a seemingly ordinary, but at the same time special story. I personally liked a lot of the scripts. It even plays the role of a dog, a devoted friend of man. She plays a kind of note in the movie and it's nice. After all, everything in our lives is built on moments, we still have memories. A movie is a movie. A unit of creativity, of art. The unit that must be conveyed to the creator to people in the world and the more of them, the more his soul is filled with the light of inspiration. I would like to say that I enjoyed flying on a metal dragonfly. After it, a crucial note was made when Jake and Ella could not believe they were flying.
Dolarchide (Harrison Ford) as a local bandit ruling "iron fist" played essentially two sides of his character. Usually in Westerns, such a character is too harsh, ruthless and cruel. But in those films, there were never foreign higher forces, so everything is well balanced. Even gradually you can trace the changes of his character. It was a pleasure to see Mr. Ford play that character in the film. Merit Spielberg, probably.
Jake, played by the actor, is more and more ingrained into my favorite, calibrated character with his own beliefs. Sometimes, it seems that Daniel involuntarily copies his characters into various other films. You can see similarities sometimes. It's not bad, it's interesting. He's always different. Here he is silent, his Bond is an intelligence agent, it is not by status to be silent. In the film, he performed, in my opinion, all the installations, not to say that he played chic, but the character was not spoiled. Perhaps without unnecessary emotions, which would be useful, but not the essence for such a film.
Olivia Wilde The actress, who began to attract me a long time ago, was pleased with this film. It has a living shell, a naturalness. Smile. Her character is the girl Ella Swanson, she embodied on a solid four. Collected feelings: care, responsiveness, goodwill. I like the way she presents herself in general as an actress, and everything was fine here.
There's not much I can say about Sam Rockwell's role. Rather, he had the episodic role of a local doctor, whom everyone called only abbreviated. I can’t really say anything about the game. It was a pleasure to see him in a small family of stars.
The musical accompaniment came to the place. Old Western motifs and good fantastic filling.
Cowboys vs. Aliens is an extraordinary, sometimes unexpected, but moderately thought-out fantastic movie with a Western element. This is perhaps the second, is unlikely to find, so the freshness of the idea is a huge plus the film. If anyone hasn't watched, be sure to look, out of interest or because of the actors. Don't waste your time. I guarantee it.
And as Woodrow Dolarchide said, "She's in the best of worlds." That's right.
I confess - seeing in the opening credits the name of the performer of the role of the last Bond, I promised myself to watch the film to the end, whatever it cost me.
Okay. Slim as a Somali pirate, Bond recovered in the middle of the steppe. On the face, traces of a week-long binge in the nearest casino, on the hand - a brilliant device.
For some reason, the device needed to be immediately knocked down by a stone, but this fascinating activity was interrupted by three horse-drawn gopniks, somehow dressed as cowboys.
Two Bond worked beautifully, and the third somehow rudely and without a twist just stuffed his face.
Having obtained a horse, Bond arrives in the nearest settlement, where a harsh pastor sews a cut on his belly with a severe thread, alternately wetting the bond wound with a viscar, the pastor’s throat.
The treatment, it must be admitted, is very effective, since with a fresh seam our hero is on horseback and under horseback, and in general, no more inconveniences in the film does not experience.
But suddenly it turned out that Bond is a well-known bandit wanted, so he must be urgently arrested. There is a sheriff with his assistants.
In general, in American films with sheriffs recently just trouble - stupid, then corrupt, then completely homosexual. This time, it was just stupid. Bond skillfully disarmed all the police special forces, but treacherously got the head kicked by a girl who a couple of minutes ago categorically refused to fuck.
Fighting with Bond, the sheriff still had to tie up a local moron, who, unfortunately, turned out to be the son of the most terrible bandit in these places.
The bandit, hearing about such a setup, rushed to understand, looking at the night.
In general, everything seemed to be going well for the western, but in the midst of the boyish conversations, alien fighters from ' Independence Day' suddenly flew in, and began to lark rushing people.
Then Bond realized that the device on his hand can not only open beer bottles, but also wet a variety of goats.
Having shot down one of the fighters, Bond immediately earned the position of the leader of the bandits, and went with them to meet the adventures.
From that moment, the degree of cretinism began to rise markedly. But then the real fun began, I cheered up.
It was decided to wet ' strangers', combining the efforts of all local bandits, Indians and ordinary cowboys. The holy thing, necessary, moved all the way to the alien ship.
Bond and his comrades threw a pair of dynamite checkers into the windows, but ' strangers' humor was not appreciated, jumped out by an unorganized crowd and staged a massacre.
Some had shooting devices on their hands, like Bond, but most just strangled with naked tentacles everyone who managed to throw off the horse.
Why it was impossible to give everyone ' strangers' on the device and stupidly shoot people without leaving the ship is unclear. There is an incredible stupidity of the alien leadership.
The Indians, it must be admitted, did not hush before the aliens and diligently wet them from bows. It was noticeable that fights with distraught traitors for locals is not new. Cowboys also did not waste time and shot off the heads of predators from the Winchesters. Some earthlings suddenly and untimely ran out of ammunition, which is no longer in any gate, but for the find respect.
Arrow-strewn predators roared with resentment and rushed around the neighborhood, and one of them even managed to latch.
Meanwhile, Bond decided to get the hostages out of the ship and at the same time check out how and what. Unscathed at the beginning of the film aunt, of course, climbed with him.
And when Bond wanted to remove the device from his hand, gave valuable advice:
- Open your mind! and snuggled with a bust. Bond turned out not to be restrained by Bond and did not buy the temptations on the Tetkins, but he still removed the iron from his hand.
Next, the writer went completely crazy.
As it turned out, the captured earthlings in the ship were either stupefying from stuffiness, or out of fear they went off the rails, but they categorically refused to recognize their relatives.
- I am your father! - one of the bandits appealed to his son. If he had taken a laser sword out of his shining, in an abundance of fatherly feelings, I would not have been surprised.
However, soon from the fresh air, the heads cleared, relatives were recognized, snot of happiness flowed.
The aliens conceived a cowardly escape, but the aunt turned out to be heroic and, realizing that nothing shines with Bond, blew up the ship, ruining the surrounding beauty with rocket fuel, for which she is not at all respectable.
Of course, after such events, the warring gangs of bandits, Indians and peaceful cowboys imbued with good feelings and began to build a bright future right on the basis of the cowboy settlement. The former chief of staff said:
- There will be a garden city here!
A fairly tired sheriff, sitting on a dump, generously forgave all the bandits to the noise.
In this place I could no longer restrain myself, tears of tenderness flooded with a murky stream.
