Prosecutor, if in doubt, just pick anyone. It seems to me that these words are the essence of the judicial system, as it turned out, not only of our country, but of everyone else. Really, why not? If we can't find evidence of the real killer's guilt, let's blame whoever we can, who resists less, who doesn't have such strong defenses from outside! It's a film that raises very serious questions and makes you wonder if, if anything, you can prove your innocence and hope for a fair outcome. After all, in real life, no one guarantees that you will be lucky and your question will be dealt with by a truly impartial, honest and meticulous person, a person who until the last will search for the truth, do not sleep at night, suffer nightmares and believe, believe that the innocent must be saved. Or will you just give up and be grinded by the system?
I didn’t plan to watch this film, not my genre, but my love for Sosha and his work, prompted me to watch this work. I did not expect much, and, frankly, did not get much, the film will not become one of my favorites and I will probably not review it, but he certainly made me think. Before watching, I read the reviews, so the general idea caught in advance - there is a murder, there are two suspects, an honest prosecutor, a resourceful lawyer and the most important question - who is to blame? As it turns out, there is no answer... well, it is so confusing that in the process of watching, you begin to doubt your mental and deductive abilities, because there are constant throwing from one version to another. It seems that at the beginning you decided — it’s Alex’s fault, 10 minutes pass, and you think, no, after all, Pearson, another time passes and by the middle of the film the thought slips through — both, both guilty! And then over and over and over again, you're looking for the blame, and as soon as you decide by the end of the movie that there, there, there's him, there's going to be something else that's going to make you question your decision. In general, I think everyone who watches this film will decide for themselves who, in their opinion, is guilty.
Regarding the actors:
Initially, completely subjectively, I was on Pearson’s side (I repent, I love Sosha), I wanted to believe until the last day that it wasn’t him, but his behavior throughout the film, prompted different thoughts and remained misunderstood by me. To the acting I have no special claims, and, frankly, not so often Geun Sok flashed on the screen.
It's easier with Alex. From the very first second, he caused me only dislike and his appearance, and his behavior and his attitude to what was happening. And if I could choose, he would be the killer in my script.
Prosecutor. Strong actor, strong character, strong game. Looking at such people, I want to believe that not all is lost for our society and there are still people who are ready to sacrifice even their future for the sake of the truth.
Lawyer. Um, to be honest, I felt a little sorry for him. In general, it seems to me that lawyers are hostages of their profession, because sometimes, regardless of their desire, they are forced to protect and justify people who are absolutely unworthy of this. Although, on the other hand, no one forces them, they can abandon a case that does not correspond to their values.
To sum up, I want to say one thing – in my opinion, both are to blame, and both should also bear a full punishment, simply because neither of them even for a second repented of what they did, did not flash a shadow of doubt in either of them that they live, think and do something wrong, that it is impossible, just for the sake of play and pleasure, to deprive the life of another person. It is a pity that this is not just a movie, that it is based on real events, and that, unfortunately, none of us are immune in real life from meeting such scoundrels.
Anyone who loves Sosha is recommended to watch, just to see him in another role, different from his usual romantic characters.
