I love Alex. He's a vampire. At first I wanted to write a devastating negative review, but then changed my mind. After all, I got some pleasure from the film - and, therefore, everything is not so bad. Yes, the film is weak, that must be admitted. Yes, in the process of viewing and then there was a thought – “well, nonsense, however.” But, in the end, this film has pluses, which I will try to talk about.
Plot
This film tells us the story of a clan of vampires that for many, many years exist side by side with ordinary people - unfortunately for the latter. But one day there is a vampire who has fallen in love with a mortal, and for which he is ready to give up eternal life. Yes, the plot is not new to the viewer, but even a familiar story can be filmed interestingly - with which, unfortunately, it is difficult.
The first thing that annoyed me during the viewing was the inappropriate behavior of the characters.
"I love you, but I'm a vampire." "Dad, I love Alex, but he's a vampire." Everyone believes it, as if it happens every day. And OK, ordinary people, they are forgiven (who among us did not behave illogically), but servants of the law (!!). And vampires themselves are surprising - they live so many years, and, it seems, have not learned to hide normally. About the scene almost at the very end, I will be silent at all - the sight of heads flying in space (!) just put me in a state of stupor. I don’t know what it was or why.
But it's not that bad. Still, the film, I repeat, you can watch, experiencing interest - of course, this is not the best pastime, but still. I constantly caught myself thinking that even though there is a form of nonsense on the screen, I do not really want to switch it.
Actors
I watched the movie (like many of them recently) because of one actor. Of course, this is Costas Mandilor, who played the role of a drug dealer (yes, it seems, any business master) Rex. Here he is sadly little, and even his hero is quickly taken out of the game. But I liked Costas here. This movie came to life, without it viewing was not so cheerful. As usual, I have no faults with his game (I am probably very subjective here), the only thing that confused the moment with the death of his hero was somehow unnatural, although I am happy about it. Still, it is unpleasant to see the death of the character of this actor.
Now for the other actors.
Daniel Goddard played the vampire Alex. I liked him right away, and that's the kind of person you think of when you think of vampires. He played well, the only problem is that his character is not very well spelled ... but this is not the trouble of the actor. He has done his part.
Cat Hawks. The main female role of the film, Estelle is a vampire’s lover. For some reason, she did not arouse special sympathy, as it seemed to me, in some moments her game was lacking. But a nice girl, her image is very suitable for the role.
I don’t want to single out anyone else, except perhaps Gary Daniels as the vampire Sebastian. The vampires didn't really want to be sympathetic. All arrogant, unpleasant and overly pathetic - of course, there was not without black color and the accompanying "Gothic" entourage. In general, a bit of a cliché.
It's a bad movie, I admit it. But this is a rare case when you can watch - even with some interest. But I can’t recommend it to anyone – except that the actor you are interested in plays here, or you sometimes want to see something in the genre of “delusions”.
