When a man loses everything, but continues to choose good over evil, he loses nothing. In the center of mainland Canada, around the Great Slave Lake, there are dark green carpets of the northern forests. Somewhere there lost a construction camp with seven dozen exhausted workers, and in it entrenched wayward and cruel foreman – over all dominated by no less rigid plan – to uneven hammers to lay 52 miles of railway in 52 days.
Under the cold autumn sun, where wildlife, engulfing a chain of high pines, casts a wild shadow on a person.
Martin is young, inexperienced, modest and responsive, he has no purpose in life, but his father has already taught him, as it turned out, the most important thing. . .
In search of earnings, Martin finds himself in the camp as a reporter. Naivety and directness of character immediately lead to conflict with Fisk, the foreman does not tolerate insubordination, and is used to conducting business in his own way. When the situation gets out of control, Martin is faced with a life choice: bend his line or bend over, end up in a garbage pit or, as they say, live with wolves. Or maybe you can be a human being.
A harsh adventure drama, the philosophical meaning of which can be tried on any aspect of life in general. It's called getting tested. The school of life that the protagonist had to learn in this way. The correct attitude to life and the ability to express one’s opinion, defend the human attitude to people and act on advice, all this will find respect not only among satellites, but also among enemies.
P.S. And #39; If I leave here tomorrow would you still remember me? . . . '.
