Two geniuses and science My assessment of this series is the highest. How can it be otherwise, if it has everything: two geniuses and science?
Explain where science is not needed. Physics, astronomy, biology, everything is clear. I disagree that Hawking’s language is too simple for the audience. We must first understand who these viewers are. Real scientists read the scientific literature and research of Hawking himself. But his films and books are designed to popularize science, to explain on your fingers what is derived through formulas in school and university. I think the movie did it. I study physics myself, but I was amazed at how easily the most complex phenomena are explained. And all these planets flying to the viewer, strange animals and non-standard examples only help people to immerse themselves in science.
Speaking of two geniuses, I mean the speaker and the voicer.
Stephen Hawking. A brilliant scientist and a persistent man. He turned the idea of the universe, made bold, and most importantly, correct assumptions, discovered new phenomena, brought science to a new level and continues his endeavors despite the disease. Praise and praise to this man!
Benedict Cumberbatch. Alas, if you watch the translation, you won’t hear that voice. It's worth it. A voice recognized with the voice of Alan Rickman as England's sweetest voice. This man not only perfectly voices films, but is also a wonderful actor of theater and cinema. He himself played the role of Hawking in the BBC film and played in films about Van Gogh, Darwin. This is amazing!
To listen to a professional actor and just an intellectual, reading the thoughts of a great scientist about the universe - what could be better?
The series is really very light, understandable and beautiful. I recommend it.
