The red judge... We knocked out the gates for the sake of laughing!
- Was the man thrown out of the window?
- I agree, it's a bad tone.
First of all, the French director Georges Lautner is known to a wide range of viewers as one of the best masters of serious crime films. And such films as “Professional” and “Death of a Scoundrel”, have long become cult. But at the time he started with a comedy genre. And this film just absorbed the best features from both genres - crime and comedy. I think that this good crime-romantic comedy by Georges Lautner will not leave anyone indifferent. Here is everything you need sophisticated viewer: super-popular actors at the time, a lot of humor, tricks, a love story, as well as a rather rich plot.
Women love criminals who stay, not those who run away. They love men who say goodbye.
- Goodbye!
Of course, the story may seem banal to someone. A beautiful journalist helps a runaway, but damn charming criminal, and he in turn saves her from mysterious villains. But in reality, the script of this hilarious and dynamic French comedy is not as simple as it seems at first glance. Funny adventures have no end, ironic dialogues are full of jokes, and fights, explosions and car chases, as often happens with Lautner, are also enough. Of course, the main decoration of the picture was a beautiful young couple Miu Miu – Gerard Lanven, watching them just get aesthetic pleasure.
Whatever it is, I will raise all the police in France!
- Don't you think it's already up?
Particularly worth noting, sounding behind the scenes, the musical theme of the saxophone, the famous, jazz performer Stan Getz. For the second time after the “Death of the Scoundrel”, Georges Lautner and composer Philip Sard, attracted this talented American musician to work and, I must say, did not fail. To record the soundtrack, Stan Goetz composed an impromptu trio with French organist Eddie Louis and black drummer Billy Cobham. Beautiful jazz music, pleasantly softens the characters and adds a gentle sense of melancholy, becoming a great addition to the love episodes of the picture. And the soundtrack itself will be remembered for a long time.
Are you dreaming of a rodeo?
- Yes, I dream of a rodeo with police officers on the tail, with an Interpol mandate.
I will add that in this comedy, the director Georges Lautner shot almost all the actors constantly filmed from him. Michele Galabreux from Who's Who?, Julien Guiomar from Death the Scoundrel, the eternal concierge Philippe Castelli from The Four Hands Game, and the Miu Miu-Henri Gibe duo the director shot in his paintings as many as four times (the fifth time they starred together in The Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, but already with Gerard Uri). By the way, along with Mireille Dark, Miu-Miu was one of the most beloved and filmed actresses Georges Lautner. Of the new actors involved only Gerard Lanvain and Jean-Pierre Darrussen, for whom this picture was the beginning of a long friendship and many joint shooting.
Who is this guy?
- Red Judge!
