After the general euphoria, it is difficult to express a different point of view. Personally, I did not like this crumpled film, moreover, it turned out to be empty and terribly implausible. A story slicked with dull, unrealistic directing. In addition, the actors did not inspire. Despite the star cast of American actors, there was a big mistake, because many did not fit into their roles.
The story tells about what happened in New York. New Year’s Eve, and before us the intricacy of the fates of several heroes whose lives will be intertwined here. Everyone has his own dreams, everyone has his own pain, and everyone believes in a miracle that comes with the chimes of the new year.
Several intertwined stories put this movie together: a woman who must include a huge ball, a dying man, an elderly man in a hospital, a nurse, a secretary changing her life, two married couples expecting a child, a mother and daughter, an elite cook and a musician. All these characters are waiting for the new year, and everyone has their own problems, everyone wants love, and we see the soulful story of each of them, which has both humor and drama.
American director originally from New York (it is about this city and dedicated to his film) has made many soulful comedies during his career. To be honest, I love his early work in cinema, only then he began to shoot failed comedies one by one. I love his films Overboard and On the Beach. These are wonderful paintings. “Pretty Woman” is a masterpiece that everyone knows. But the films “Fashionable Mommy” and “Intolerable Ladies” are terribly fake.
In 2010, Marshall shot a romantic comedy, which also had a bunch of heroes - "Valentine's Day", and the campaign he liked this idea, because a year later he releases a very similar movie in its style and genre, the atmosphere of "Old New Year". I liked Valentine’s Day more for some reason. The same New Year movie didn’t work out. There, the actors played better, and the stories themselves were more interesting.
This, New Year, soulful comedy had big plans for a successful and pleasant film, because the actors here are very famous, but it did not help the film. The movie turned out to be weak and for some reason slick, it was this word that tied to it. Some of the stories were not believed at all.
The story with Katherine Heigl was terribly implausible, and the actor playing a musician and completely overplayed. I wanted to say to all of this: I don’t believe it. The story with Michelle Pfeiffer seemed to be the most touching, but it was implausible, and the character Michelle did not succeed at all. Hilary Swank somehow took the center of everything that happened, and the story with her was remembered for some reason most of all. Sarah Jessica Parker made a spectacular appearance here. The Halle Berry story was the deepest, and I was touched the most. Ashton Kutcher played badly, like Jessica Biel was just awfully fake, Abigail Breslin did a bad part too, De Niro outplayed, Zac Efron played implausibly, you don't believe him. All the other actors looked pretty good.
Rare, unsuccessful cast, and nominations for the infamous Golden Raspberry here deserved. I didn’t like this movie, it was crumpled, and it turned out a kind of incomprehensible porridge. There were a couple of good scenes, but the overall picture is contradictory and extremely dubious.
Old New Year is an American, soulful movie with a taste of comedy and melodrama in 2011. The picture of Harry Marshall did not inspire, moreover, it causes a headache. The movie didn’t work, and I said no.
I'm not going to write much, really. Before us is another collection of intertwined stories with the participation of famous actors. In this case, on a rather popular New Year's theme. It was, frankly, very average.
Of course, such a large number of good actors are pleasant to watch. But the first hour and a half of the movie is unbearably boring! On the experiences and problems of the characters of the film, by and large, do not care. Humor is like that in the movie, there is no drama either. The last 15 minutes of the film is somehow cheered up due to the standard in such scenarios, the interweaving of fates, but even they do not produce any strong emotions that are inherent in such denouements.
And, by and large, the problem in the film is only one, but it is the most that neither is the main – the lack of a plot. For most viewers, all the stories are already familiar and the end is more or less clear after half an hour of viewing.
Such films on such topics should cause maybe not a stormy, but still a surge of emotions, but this picture looks obscenely neutral.

I finally found a movie to watch on New Year’s Eve. So often according to the calendar is already the end of December and soon there will be a long-awaited and magical holiday, and there is no mood, from the word "at all".
A wonderful kaleidoscope of beautiful and famous faces, kind and cute stories about love in the widest possible variants (man-woman, love for children, for parents, history a la Cinderella...). A real New Year's Eve confetti!
All the famous names are already listed in other reviews, but I especially remember the story performed by Zac Efron and Michelle Pfeiffer. It was especially interesting to watch the fulfillment of desires and their interpretation. The hero of Zac Efron as a real Santa Claus gave a small miracle for a tired and wrapped woman. However, in the Russian voiceover did not sound that one of their wishes of the heroine Michelle Pfeiffer, written on the wish sheet was “Learn to dance”. This wish comes at the end of the film at the club dance.
Good comedy to create a festive atmosphere. After watching, there is a very pleasant and kind mood, I want to smile, remember the good and do miracles. And of course, I recommend to raise the mood both on holidays and weekdays.
Socrates spoke long speeches, his friends killed him.
To be honest, the film is about serious things, but not serious. Good, but naive and sometimes stupid. I would even say at some point very playful. As a result, it turns out not very sincere. little time to develop each storyline. Lots of stories, what's the point? New Year, holiday, atmosphere of warmth and love. Everyone is so kind, good, everyone should be forgiven, live together - but he does not motivate, what was supposed to motivate, if at all. A compelling story.
Once I saw the trailer for this film and wanted to see it, and all because I saw in it Jon Bon Jovi, that’s all interest in the film. Actually, I was not the only one who fell for it, since the film is full of popular and, not least, favorite actors, for whom many watched it. Personally, I liked the acting of Josh Duhamel, I am not a fan of the films where he stars, but in this film I am from acting, he liked the most. I would say that I was the only one who played.
Advertising, advertising and again advertising, still hidden advertising. And I was amused that Cary Elvis played the doctor, as well as in the movie Saw. The game of survival', a good reference.
Nice recognizable faces, no vulgarity, but hints of it. It's worth seeing once.
This film belongs to the now popular genre of cinema, where several independent storylines are combined into a single film. This picture is very atmospheric, saturated with Christmas fever, the expectation of miracle, magic ... Now on to the storylines.
The story of pregnant women is definitely the funniest.
The prize for the touching story goes to the hospital with the terminally ill Robert de Niro.
The most ordinary line - the story of love / separation between the singer and the cook. It's banal and boring.
The elevator scene performed by Kutcher and the backing vocalists is not revealed until the end. I wanted more movement so that their relationship would open up brighter.
An intriguing story about an unknown princess who conquered a successful, beautiful young man is one of the most interesting. First a fun trip on the bus with an extraordinary family, then a gala dinner, finally waiting for a miracle. Which comes in the face of one heroine, seemingly irrelevant to this story. In my opinion, this pair is incompatible, but their task was to surprise them.
Finally, the most New Year's story - about a middle-aged woman who is depressed and about a young courier who gives this woman a real New Year's fairy tale.
This is a good movie to watch!
The film is not New Year’s, it is very New Year’s. I would like to mention two great duets by Hilary Swank, I love this woman on the screen, and Robert De Niro without whom everything would be too fake. Michelle Pfeiffer is a miracle and Zac Efron, with him, however, the movie turned out fun.
This is a quote from the painting for skeptics: “Many people believe that there is no magic left in the world, when how to explain that the whole world gathers this evening to celebrate the good old New Year’s holiday?” People, from small to great, still believe in miracles.
The presence of the New Year celebration had a lesser impact on the plot. Several lives were intertwined in this movie, such as Pastor and his cousin, a grandfather without complexes, saying what everyone thinks, from the same series. Many interesting and sometimes unnecessary situations. All this is collected in a nice New York history. Momentary jokes like, “Who do you not trust, the world?” Or this scary city of New York? A man passes by: “Have you been to Moscow?”
In my opinion, this is not enough, except for the roles noted above, for a serious pre-holiday picture, Home Alone and that, although simpler and more prosaic, I like more as a New Year's film, which has already classically entered this category no less than the Family Man, a very deep cinema.
However, two years have passed since I decided to see this film, and I only remembered it today.

The meaning of the new year is to get another chance; a chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more and to love more.
A New Year’s film that combines several novels about different people. All of them on the eve of the new year are trying to fix what they could not fix throughout the year.
The life of a terminally ill patient is intertwined with a hospital nurse and a famous TV presenter. The life of a loser secretary on the new year unexpectedly intertwined with a guy courier. The story of a mother who cannot admit that her 15-year-old daughter has already grown up is intertwined with the story of the presenter.
In general, all the novels of the film turned out to be very banal and with a predictable ending. Not exciting. I watched it and waited, and suddenly something interesting will happen, but the miracle did not happen.
The big downside is that the film is billed as a comedy, but I didn't laugh in one place. The actors tried, joked, but it was not funny. The only thing I liked was the music, only it created a festive mood. The result was a passing New Year's film, which was probably shot primarily to raise money for the New Year holidays.
Some people say that there is no beauty or magic left in the world.
I think it’s one of the few movies where you can find everything you want. And to see such a picture on New Year’s Day is probably just fine. It often happens that the mood on this holiday is bad. This is a movie where all dreams come true, no matter what you want. Throughout the viewing, you smile and do not pay attention to anything around you. It's addictive.
For me, this painting has become something of a family. There is enough to laugh and cry, even tears of joy. Lately, the film production of this country does not please me, but everything changes. "Old" The new year gave me a little happiness and confidence that sooner or later all desires will be fulfilled. I don’t know what the director expected when he made this film, but after watching it, I had only the best emotions. They touched my heart.
It is definitely worth watching, if only to dream of something joyful and beautiful for two hours.
Raw, naive, sluggish. This review can in principle be completed, but here are a few more words, or a little more.
The idea itself is not bad: the film is composed of small novels intertwined with each other. However, the picture seems second-rate. I would like to attribute all the imperfections of the film to the amateurism of the director, but when it is discovered that it is Gary Marshall, who made “Pretty Woman” and “Overboard”, somehow you refuse this idea. So it's not about amateurism at all. Although it does not matter, it is better to go through some novels.
The key one is the crystal ball in Times Square and all the collapse that happened to it. Perhaps the Americans poured tears of happiness and patriotism (give them only a reason), but this topic did not touch me personally. It was the first time I heard about tradition. But maybe someone will.
The next novel I want to mention is the elevator scene. Whether I’ve become an inveterate pragmatist (which is terrible and unlikely), or whether this part of the film is truly startlingly squalid and unrealistic. For a few hours sitting in the elevator, citizens managed to scratch and begin to sympathize with each other. Efficiency above all else is yes.
Another mini-stories focuses on an aging... rocker in his prime trying to get his girlfriend back. But the topic of the novel goes by the wayside, and why? Yes, because two assistants of the former rocker apparently set out to annoy the audience with their replay, and they succeeded more than once. Credit.
In fact, each of the novels amazes with its obscenity. I won’t talk about everything, otherwise the content of spoilers will exceed all conceivable and unthinkable norms. And so everything is clear: the artificiality (not to be confused with skill!) of the acting game and plot is simply amazing, even if you make a discount on the fact that the film is New Year's.
It is recommended to watch only if you are a fan of the genre of novels or desperately trying to create a New Year’s mood. I don’t know what kind of New Year’s Eve mood it is when there is absolutely no snow in the movie. This is probably the biggest mistake the director made.
"Old" New Year’s Eve is a film of the type that, perhaps, modern Russian cinema wants to master in perfection. This is a romantic movie with a large number of main characters and storylines, designed to catch the widest possible audience.
In Russia, films of this type have already been filmed quite a lot, but of the most successful experiments, I would note the first part of Love in the Big City. And in Hollywood, the production of such films is put on stream and they almost never fall below a certain bar and almost always set the right mood on the eve of some holidays. Here you can remember both “Love Actually” and “Valentine’s Day”. And "Old" New Year's Eve falls in the same line.
One thing that transforms the world from a world of loneliness to a world of beauty is love. "Love is a hope."
Of course, I suspected that our distributors are a special kind of people, but enough to translate “New Year’s Eve” as “Old New Year’s Eve”. It is clear that this movie came out after the first of January, but can this justify such a translation? I think it's stupid. However, this is not a claim to the original film, but rather a lyrical retreat.
I'll tell you right away, I got hooked by the filmmaker. It's November in the yard, and I've already smelled the tangerines, the sound of bullying pops outside the window. After a rather difficult day, this movie brightened up a quiet evening, set up some kind of positive slightly sad mood. Some of the heroes sympathized, someone mentally killed, someone fell in love. Such light atmospheric films, in my opinion, are very necessary from time to time.
I was most interested in the story of Katherine Heigl and Jon Bon Jovi. I’ve been sympathizing with both sincerely and for a long time.
There was a place for surprise, because, as it seems to me, in the finale, some of the characters were brought together quite unexpectedly - not with those with whom I expected.
Gary Marshall did a great job. At the age of 77, to shoot such pictures that fall into the mood of young people is quite strong, however, this could be expected after he shot such loving and strong films as Pretty Woman, Frankie and Johnny.
I highly recommend watching.

P.S. Well, Halle Berry, of course, looks absolutely amazing for her age.
The view of the film directly depends on the perception of mood shades.
Perhaps the review will be divided into the usual columns, but this time a novelty for myself and readers of my reviews will share as much as possible the feelings that I had to experience while watching this film.
Let me start with how I got to this movie. Perhaps very simple, here are the reasons: I was looking for films of my favorite actors and often the threads crossed on the film, which was not the most motivated title and this film would of course be "Old". New Year's Eve. But the films that I liked a positive essay is not enough, to view this film was also influenced by the advice of the girl – it was decided to watch. After a series of unsuccessful attempts, I still took the time and paid full attention to watching this film.
About the perception of the film.
I was a little disappointed, because looking at reviews everywhere - it was supposed to be a one hundred percent comedy, and in the end I got not a weak drama. I also did not like the typical American luscious moments, the role of Josh Duhamel, where he spoke painfully naive speech. I also didn’t like the naive twists in the movies, the predictability and the monotonous dialogue. It wasn't every second, but it was so much that I remembered. But I still loved the film, even though I was expecting a pure comedy with no admixture of drama. As stated in the title, it all depends on perception. But I would also add to that the mood of watching the film, which I did not have on the holiday horizon. In connection with all this, I certainly approved of this film, but the criticism that I will most likely lay out in the next columns and the final assessment will not be affected. To confuse perception with existing facts is at least wrong.
The director.
At first, Harry Marshall seemed a beginner in my stage of knowing people from directing, but after watching this film I managed to notice that several of his films I still watched. "Pretty Woman" Straight from the early nineties is still pleasant for viewing by many viewers of that generation, which of course can not be said about everyday "Cool Georgia", although there is still a matter of taste, and this story is not about this. This film could be made more colorful than I see the guilt of Harry, which by the way he shares with Katherine, who is the writer of this film, but about her a little later. The end result of my non-primary acquaintance with this director is that he did not register in my memory. I would rather tell everyone how he made the film "Pretty Woman" ( which is really not my type, but it is difficult not to recognize it), rather than this film.
Screenwriter.
Katherine Fugate also came out as some mediocre screenwriter, nothing unusual. A couple of movies in the asset that were shown on the big screens, and one that is mediocre, like a normal working day of the week. I like when the film does not focus on some frames, when cut corners, so that the viewer was interested. Cutting corners is good, but turning it into a circle is no longer fun. Of course, an interesting scenario, the ending in a scene where Robert De Niro looks at a rising ball surprised me at all, although I did not think that anything would surprise me, but all the same average, somehow.
Ludacris.
I decided to watch the film because of him, but his role and rare appearance did not please. Playing an employee with naive speech and inappropriate grins - he does not suit either. Medium, nothing special.
Holly Berry.
A talented actress, very pleased with her role. A good actress who could calmly play a more significant role in this film, but to see the idea of the director was different.
Zac Efron.
In general, by nature, a good actor, but unfortunately, he is often hostage to the roles that he is awarded in the films where he participates. Often it is rough to say lubricating dramas, trying to squeeze a tear from the viewer, but I again went aside, now not about that. He did his best, even one of those who kept the whole movie. It was a pleasure to watch.
Ashton Kutcher and Lea Michelle.
Let me explain why I decided to consider their roles not separately, like everyone else, but together. The fact is that it was their story that influenced me somehow, hurt me or whatever they say. Adding happy and happy, of course, the situation was painted with naivety, which erased the approximate reality, although who knows how it would actually be. It was nice to see them in tandem.
Robert De Niro.
Another reason why I decided to watch this film was not just De Niro’s participation, but De Niro’s participation in this film with a terrible variety of actors. Melkal is little, however, as well as all major actors, but pleased, oh how pleased. Not just a good actor, but a genius. His name will forever remain in the history of cinema not only noble and cult films, but also such good-saving roles, albeit with little content in time, but with maximum dedication to fulfilling the duty of his role, as in this film.
I didn’t mention the other actors because they played pretty much the same. I only mentioned those who were pleased or, vice versa, disappointed.
It was better, of course, if I watched this film in the winter in the cinema or at home wrapped in a blanket, but unfortunately, in fact it was the hottest season of the year, although at the time of watching which there was not the warmest mood.
The film was not liked to a greater or lesser degree, but in the most common sense of the word "liked". I’m not going to recommend it to anyone either, but to blame the whole movie for it is not honest.
Before us is a version of the film, from which you should not expect heartbreaking dramas, brilliant delivery and directing. Just shot the New Year, a good movie about love and friendship on the eve of a beautiful holiday.
A few plot parallels, but intertwined with each other, not a novelty. The same trick is used in many melodramas with a large number of popular actors. And this time it was good, in my opinion.
If we talk about actors, we should name the most memorable ones. So,
Sarah Jessica Parker. The success of the TV series “Sex and the City” is still in memory. And most people will remember it as the leading column in the newspaper. Here she appeared in the image of a mother, but as chic and refined as Carrie.
Zach Efron. Such a sweet boy singing songs with his girlfriend from a musical. It is nice to see how the boy turns into an attractive young man with a good talent.
Halle Berry. As always, she is incredibly sexy and attractive even in the form of a sister. There is nothing to add here.
Katherine Heigl. Perfect actress, beautiful woman with good eyes. She is a great cook in the form of a chef.
Great version of the family movie.
Even though it’s late July, I decided to watch this movie. Why? I wanted a New Year's Eve mood: And I have to say that I did not even expect Harry Marshall to have something worthwhile after Valentine’s Day. This movie is just right! Amazing, funny, touching film. Every story, some funny, some sad, does not leave you indifferent. And despite the fact that I am a terrible critic of such films, for some reason today my cold heart melted and I really enjoyed this film. People need such inspiring tinsel! Whether it’s a movie, or a song, or glasses in the shape of a 2012 figure, it’s all uplifting and relaxing at least once a year. And let cynics and skeptics say that New Year's fever is just an illusion created with the help of pop songs and movies. But I think the New Year makes people believe in a miracle, gives hope, immerses anyone in a special atmosphere. So the New Year is a good thing! :
As for the cast, this is just a pearl. These famous and beloved actors do not even need to play. It is enough just to appear on the screen. So many talented, beloved actors such as Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, Thiel Schweiger, Ashton Kutcher, Sarah Jessica Parker, Catherine Hale, Abigail Braslin, Hector Elizondo, took part in this project! A real gift for the New Year! Even in July. I would like to highlight the work Michel Pfeifer. Before that, I admired her images of strong women. And here she is inimitable in a completely atypical image for her - the image of a timid, strange lady. I remember her storyline the most. This is the sweetest story in this movie, in my opinion. Despite the presence of my unloved Zac Efron. Even it looks harmonious here and complements Pfeiffer! Also in the film lit up, and very brightly, the main star "glee" - Lea Michelle. I hate her, but I can’t blame her in this movie. She sang well and did not replay as usual. I love having so many charismatic actors in a movie! It transforms even the most trivial story.
The soundtrack also perfectly reflected the pre-New Year fever. Special thanks for the incendiary bloopers to the most obtuse song of last year Pink – Raise your glass. It's something!
And thank you to the creators for sending me to New York again, albeit virtually. This is the city of my dreams and the only place where I would like to celebrate the New Year with all their strange traditions for us Slavs, including the lowering of this stupid ball. New York is as beautiful as ever. Big and ambitious.
Watch this movie with friends or family. You won't regret it! This film is absolutely suitable for everyone. Even for non-romantics. There is great humor and a lot of celebration. It is shot in the best traditions of such a long, but so beloved "Love Actually". It's a beautiful movie! There is nothing to add.
Sometimes it seems that there are many things in the world that we cannot control: earthquakes, floods, wars, movies in 3D.
But it's important to remember that there's also something that we can do -- forgiveness, giving someone a second chance and starting over.
Because the only thing that saves our world from loneliness and transforms our lives is love. Love in all its manifestations.
I came across the movie Old New Year by accident. I really like actors Ashton Kutcher and Thiel Schweiger, and here they are in the same movie, hellish mixture!
The film “Old” New Year made a very good impression on me. Very bright, lively, colorful film. A film about the interweaving of fates, how small the world is, how everything is connected.
The film takes place in New York on New Year’s Eve. Eight stories are intertwined in this film. Each of them is full of intrigue and emotion.
I advise everyone to watch this movie. Very light, sincere, kind, bright. You will not only be able to enjoy world-class stars such as Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Holly Bury, Jessica Biel and many others. You can also see the streets of New York.
From this film literally warms up, so much sincerity.
In fact, the film was not originally intended to be filled with thoughts, emotions, ideas. Just famous actors, as well as in the similar ' Valentine's Day', gathered together to have fun themselves and the audience to have fun, so you need to sit down to watch this film with the appropriate motivation - ' to rest from the hardships of life and believe in the best, bright, good'.
The gathering of actors pleasantly pleases the eye, although the acting work of the majority is more like improvisation at a New Year's party than the work of professionals in the next Hollywood masterpiece.
Of the whole string of plots, in my opinion, only Catherine Heigl, John Bon Jovi and Halle Berry with Robert De Niro played sincerely and in full force. The rest somewhere, maybe the words were not written in the script, maybe the situations were not created by them, but they did not finish playing and everything is here.
Although I repeat, the overall impression of the film is only positive, and in the annual New Year holidays it will fit perfectly into the program for those who want to spend time with a cup of tea under a warm blanket.

I think everyone who appreciated this film can be divided into two groups: the first – those who did not see “Love Actually”, the second – those who watched. And most likely, the estimates of the first will be higher.
I belong to the second group, which is probably why I expected more from the film. It turned out to be a mediocre movie about love, with a certain amount of romance, but not catchy.
The good thing first.
My assessment is largely due to the history of the courier (Zac Efron) and the secretary (Michelle Pfeiffer). It really was a story that I wanted to watch and made me smile. Insanely sweet and touching soul - about how one person, if you want, can change the life of another - to make it brighter, more interesting, at least for one day. To pull out of everyday grayness, to force again to look at the world with wide open eyes.
I really liked Michelle Pfeiffer - the image was played perfectly, which could not but make me smile, so touching was the character in her performance.
Zac Efron’s character is a collection of positive energy, a ball of light that doesn’t cost anything to give that light to everyone who is nearby. And although there was a good reason for the plot, for which he tried, but in this story this fact somehow disappeared by itself. The role, frankly, is not suitable for Zack.
From that, what is remembered more - the story of the character Robert De Niro. I did, but I don’t think it could have been any other way.
We were pleased with the appearance of Til Schweiger, and the story itself in the maternity ward. Very kindly filmed, makes you smile.
This is about what did not happen. .
I did not like the game Abigail Breslin. Despite the obvious attempts to add drama to the role, in my opinion, nothing has been achieved. It turned out emotionless, like a normal reading of a role from a sheet.
The story of the character Josh Duhamel about a meeting with a mysterious stranger was first a story that stirs interest, intrigues, then became a complete disappointment.
It was an unpleasant feeling for me to have such a screen duet. I’ve never been a fan of Jessica Parker, but I didn’t have anything against her either. But not in this case. I certainly understand that Josh Duhamel isn't 25, but he's not 50. He looks a little younger than his years. But Sarah Jessica Parker in all the “magnificence” of her stage costume and makeup looked, in my opinion, not attractive, and the combination of her appearance and glamorous shine of the festive dress of youth, unfortunately, did not add to her. In addition, this scenic outfit well, not at all entangled with the image, which is previously unwittingly drawn in the imagination. Imagine a soft, elegant, and you see an angular, repulsive gloss in the outfit. I admit, of course, that this is a problem of my personal perception, but the meeting of these heroes for me, unfortunately, became fatal in the negative sense of the word. A kind of “prosaic interruption”, after which the romantic mood of the film was lost irretrievably, if not to say “killed”.
The rest. .
I passed by. It seems that the stories are different, and the cast is impressive - bright, beautiful, one of the favorite directors at the helm - but. . . did not work.
There was not enough depth, semantic load that you usually want to feel when watching such films.
Result:
The film is quite possible to watch without expecting anything supernatural, just to pass a good winter evening in the run-up to the New Year and admire the beautiful actors, listen to John Bonjovi and recharge the positive from the dancing Zac Efron and the final shots to the music of Pink.

P.S. And could not justify such a translation of the title of the film by Russian distributors.
The film, dedicated to the New Year, initially does not set itself super-tasks. His only goal is to set the right mood, which he does very well.
This is not the first time we have a picture without a single plot, where many different characters are somehow connected with each other. Each has its own story and its own problem, often in solving the next question, one character is helped by a seemingly completely stranger, in fact he is not so outsider.
It must be admitted that without such a “star” composition, and here and Robert De Niro, and Ashton Kutcher, and Halle Berry – and this is not a complete list of actors of the highest echelon seen in this movie – perhaps not everything would have come out on the same level.
The real love of Curtis is the first thing that comes to mind when looking for an analogue, so if you like him, then this film product will definitely like. If you suddenly want a festive atmosphere, even in the middle of summer, "Old" The new year will be right for you.
It would seem: the usual interweaving of storylines is a bored lady of an uncertain age, a sullen artist, a lonely nurse, a young backing singer who dreams of a solo career, and many others. When you first look at them, you realize that another 70 minutes, and a happy ending is inevitable. Except that one spoonful of tar in this festive badie is a man dying of cancer, whose last New Year will come within the gray hospital walls. But his story is told for a reason: the sight of other people's suffering should direct us to the idea that life is beautiful and not worth worrying about trifles.
Comedy this film can not be called – jokes in it is an order of magnitude less than the famous (and simply famous) actors. Here you have the widest range - from the masculine Robert de Niro with tubes at the mouth, to the sweet Zac Efron as a courier. One interesting thing: to learn in a desperate lady stunning Michelle Pfeiffer I was not able.
The category of predictable can be attributed to the speech of the heroine Hilary Swank. Oh, yeah! Hearing it, you will definitely get wet with a handkerchief and think about something hidden. It's very emotional, but not original.
Don’t think I didn’t like the movie, on the contrary! It is much more interesting and pleasant than what I described above. Just wait until midnight, and all the further miracles will not be so obvious. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Some people say that there is no beauty or magic left in the world. How do you explain that the whole world celebrates the New Year in one night?
Gary Marshall, known to us as the director of the film "Valentine's Day" again gives us stories of different people only now on the holiday called New Year. The cast also included known to us on "Valentine's Day" some already beloved actors, such as: Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Hector Elizondo. I haven’t forgotten anyone...
The film shows the stories of different people who are preparing for the New Year 2012. Everyone on the planet celebrates the new year differently. Someone is preparing for the birth of a child, someone falls in love for the first time and prepares for the first kiss in Time Square, someone wants to start a new life, and someone helps to understand that in order to change something, it is enough just to write a list of wishes that must be fulfilled.
"Old" New Year" is a film about everything that we have in life, about everything that consists of our lives.
Sometimes it seems that there are so many things in this world that are impossible to control: snow, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions. But the important thing is to remember the things we can control: forgiveness, second chance. Because one thing that transforms the world from a world of loneliness to a world of beauty is love. "Love is a hope."
I watched the film to the end, but only because I was used to bringing the work started to its logical conclusion. And in parallel with the viewing, I did a manicure, which allowed me to withstand this kinzo.
My life position is that I have no sympathy for the Americans. I do not accept their worldview, I hate it when compatriots talk about how well the people of the United States live and how we have everything through ... I think, understandable. But at the same time, I admit that they also have high cultural achievements. If we talk about cinema, it is not necessary, whether it is the Oscar-winning "Titanic" or not too appealing to critics "Meet Joe Black". The main thing is spirituality, lack of obsession, accuracy. You know what the worst thing about American movies is? Ideology. Their stupid, inappropriate, empty and immensely annoying pathos in this movie manifested itself in all its brilliance!
It all started as usual in all modern novels. We are introduced to several stories, we penetrate, with a good performance of actors even sympathize. The end is predictable, no one expects horror. That's right. But the movie didn't last! It seems that the characters want the end as soon as possible and try to artificially bring it closer, as Jessica Biel did. Ugh, I'm writing and I understand: nonsense! So is this movie. I will be objected to: how many philosophical problems are raised in the film, how can it be considered nonsense? I would like to ask a real American: Are you really the same as we see you in your films? . .
It is strange that this film was directed by G. Marshall. Maybe the real director of “Beyond the Board” and “Beauties” were kidnapped by aliens and replaced with their messenger? That sounds like the truth.
Robert de Niro, Catherine Heigl, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Thiel Schweiger, Ashton Kutcher It was nice to watch them because they are good actors, they can play. They did what the script and the director demanded. And I would have been positive if they had played more than that.
Americans have good movies. Take, for example, my favorite “Life as It Is” which I have reviewed 10 times and will probably do it again (by the way, the main roles are played by Heigl and Duhamel, who lit up here). Or Little Giants. There is no national pathos in them, but there is a soulfulness and high meaning that is understandable to the whole world, not only to a resident of Miami or New York. Maybe the Old New Year is just a domestic product? Well, then don't show it to us, gentlemen. There will be fewer negative reviews, believe me.
“New Year. Dreams come true. It’s like “Gazprom”, only “New Year”.
It so happened that the film "Old" New Year " I watched recently. And I wanted, I wanted to see him on the eve of the new year, or at least on the Christmas weekend, to somehow cheer up. But, as they say, in my backwater town decided that the film will not pay off and on the big screens it was never shown. And the film is a sequel to the chic “Valentine’s Day”. After watching this movie, I was absolutely delighted. The concept of putting together multiple stories in a single movie at the time was new and exciting. What are we seeing now? Take at least “Christmas” – the structure, we can say, borrowed from “Valentine’s Day”. But now we are talking about another movie.
At first glance, “Old” New Year was promising. Starring, if you can say so, the cast. Names such as Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Ludacris, Robert De Niro, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher immediately attract the attention of the viewer. You might have thought the movie was going to be successful. The trailer provided to us inspired nostalgia for Valentine’s Day, and I immediately decided – wait!
What did we end up with? Uncomplicated plot, flat humor, no New Year atmosphere. And the stories turned out to be some not spectacular, not particularly hooked. One thing I can say is that the duo Zac Efron / Michelle Pfeiffer succeeded. Not to mention, he is the best thing in the movie. It was their story about fulfilling all desires before the new year really touched. Cool grown-up Zac Efron was very pleased. He's not the kid we're used to seeing anymore. He grew into a man and a decent actor. Thank you for that. The story of mothers was also very happy. Thiel Schweiger is great. It was funny, fun. What about Zach's credits? It's just something. I smiled more at the end of the movie than I did throughout.
In general, the film came out average. We have a weak plot, favorite actors who pull this "strap" and somehow pull the film to the desired level, and good box office. People were expecting something good and fantastic from the film. It's up to everyone to decide what happened. I didn't get hooked, I didn't get touched, I watched without fading my heart. Of course, the nomination for Golden Raspberry is unjustified. Because the movie isn't the worst. It is a simple, uncomplicated, passing melodrama/comedy. The movie is just one time and you don’t have to touch it anymore.
The film has been out for a long time, but to my great shame, I only got to it now. But that's the lyrics, so let's get straight to the point.
I do not understand the opinion of film critics: why is this film nominated for the worst film? The tape, in my opinion, is made for those who want and are looking for a little romance, without which the new year is not a new year. Yes, maybe the picture from the point of view of excellent camera work is not done in the best way! But who, tell me, in such a warm and kind film would like to see these tired special effects?
I was very pleased with the cast. 40% had him flatter me: top-notch actors like Ashton Kutcher, Sarah Jessica Parker, Robert de Niro, Halle Berry, Josh Duhamel, Catherine Hagel and others. I don’t miss a single film with these bright and positive personalities that make movies so joyful that you want to live and work miracles! The same thing happened after watching this movie.
It's a shame that our filmmakers released the film so late. In the film we are talking about the “New Year”, what is “Old”, I did not understand. For the film, I was expecting better, much better.
The film consists of small stories of different people waiting (or not waiting) for the grandiose holiday, which is celebrated once a year. Such is the genre of the film that it is difficult to come up with something new, even very difficult, which did not work out for the filmmakers. All the stories have long been studied back and forth: well, who hasn’t seen about the problems of parents with teenage children or about the escaped groom, or about the meeting of a girl by a guy who fundamentally changes his ideas? Yes, 99% of what I've seen. Most of all, I liked the story performed by M. Pfeiffer and Z. Efron: it really describes the whole essence of the New Year, that dreams come true, the main thing is to decide to fulfill them. In general, it seemed that they wanted to touch on as many situations as possible, but it turned out to be a big pile of everything, and the viewer himself has to clean it up – but this is not the film for this! It's for rest! For joy! But, alas, you get little from him.
Without so many good actors, the film would be worth nothing, absolutely nothing – a blanket, of which there are hundreds. But they are, and so the film paid off and even made a profit. Actors play normally, at least without pretense. It is difficult to identify someone.
The soundtrack is not memorable at all, the graphics are good, beautiful New York paintings will blow the eye, as well as the advertising of the second “Sherlock”...
It turned out nice, kind, giving faith in the fulfillment of desires, with good actors film, average, without any highlight. To watch during the fuss of the holiday is the same, but in the middle of April - "not ice".

I don’t think anyone would argue that Kemi is what shapes our tastes for certain movies. Most brutal men prefer tough action movies, as most women go crazy for melodramas. As a romantic, I have always been a fan of romantic comedies. In fact, all the work of the director Harry Marshall and this film was a real gift for me. The commercial and spectator success of Marshal’s previous creation, Valentine’s Day, allowed him to sing another holiday. And that's what turned into this project. To be honest, I expected a little more. Because the film gave a little bit of "second-rate." When, as a whole, "Marshal" made a really decent product.
The main advantage of the picture is that the marshal perfectly recreated the festive spirit of the New Year. This is reflected not only in the emotional component, but also in the abundance of scenes where people prepare for the holiday and how they meet it. That seems to immerse this film in the format of a documentary about this holiday and makes it ideal in conjunction with other advantages of the picture. I was also pleased that the film "Marshal" is one complete set of emotions. After all, the film is not only imbued with kindness, light and positive, but also a certain beauty that is served to the viewer along with a certain sadness. Which perfectly reflects the essence of this holiday. Where even sad moments should inspire confidence in a bright future.
And visually the film is very juicy and beautiful. Numerous garlands hung in the premises, pandemonium to the people and much more really makes you believe that the film was shot on New Year’s Eve. So it’s no surprise that New York was chosen. I don’t know why, but I’ve always associated New Year with Manhattan and Time Square. In general, I want to say that the direction of Harry Marshall is held exclusively in the meaningful emotions of this tape. Which is more than a movie you can just watch. It’s a movie you want or don’t want, but you feel it with all your heart. Because of this, the film has a very broad meaning of the word. Because, it can be seen as one and with the other half, and in the company of relatives and friends. At the same time, although in some places the film loses its dynamism and sags a little, but still keeps in suspense for the final credits. This is where a set of funny takes gives another batch of positive fun.
I don't know about you, but I really appreciate those tapes. Because they celebrate very important holidays of the year. What makes us remember once again those days that decorate our gray everyday life. It is not surprising that the center of the picture was the most important holiday of the year, which is the New Year. This holiday is celebrated by all people of our planet. Regardless of their faith, nationality or other elements of separation. At the same time, the educational morality of the picture immediately catches the eye. After all, this is the day when all offenses are forgiven, second chances are obtained and when miracles happen. It may not be huge, but a small miracle is a miracle. That is due to this, the New Year is both a family holiday and the second holiday of all lovers. With age, this holiday loses its charm a little.
I’m personally watching it for the second year, but the film helps to revive the faith in this holiday. Since, it demonstrates the whole essence of this holiday and the fact that it does not have both an expiration date and an age limit. This is reflected in the real kaleidoscope of events. Where there was a place not only happy and funny stories, but even a little sad. After all, in the course of the picture, we are told the story of two pregnant women who are trying to give birth at midnight to get a cash prize, the story of the last wish of a dying person, the story of self-realization and rebirth of their self through wish fulfillment, the story of the revival of faith in this holiday and of course the abundance of stories about love. Where it is demonstrated that love is not a hindrance, neither age nor distance between lovers, nor time.
All the storylines are revealed simply magnificently and their abundance allows you to choose the closest story to yourself. I was personally very impressed by the story of self-realization of the heroine Michel Pfeifer. I’m glad the movie ended for some of the characters and it’s pretty sad. But that is no cause for discouragement. The film celebrates that “everything will really be fine.” This is demonstrated against the background of a luxurious tradition, when at midnight you kiss your neighbor. I even remembered spending the first few minutes and hours of the year with my lover. So for me, this project was not just another movie, but a story about my life too.
I don’t think anyone would argue that the film pulled out the star cast as well. Personally, I was very happy that my favorite actors such as Jessica Biel, John Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Ludacris, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Hector Elizondo, Katherine Heigl, Michelle Pfeiffer, Thiel Schweiger and many others were shot in the film. They all played really well. I once again realized that Bon Jovi is a brilliant musician and De Niro is an actor from God. And Michelle was so bribed by a very nice character and her natural realization. At the same time, I also enjoyed Halle Bury, Josh Duhamel, Ashton Kutcher, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hilary Swank, Sofia Vergara, which, to put it mildly, I do not like. They played not without joints, but coped with their tasks more than decently. And this is the rare case when none of the actors draws attention to themselves alone. From what, all actors can be considered the main characters of the tape.
The soundtracks of the picture are simply magnificent. Both the music of the composer of the film John Debney, and the luxurious selection of Various Artists soundtracks. All musical works turned out very warm, cheerful and festive. That perfectly combined with the screen picture and perhaps even made certain moments of the picture better. Especially luxuriously selected soundtracks of the picture, which I willingly sang along with when watching this tape. And this is the rare case when the soundtrack and the film create a sense of absolute unity between each other.

Very kind, positive, warm, bright, sometimes sad and very festive romantic comedy. The film is not without flaws of course. It is worth watching and reviewing. Personally, I loved the movie and I would highly recommend it to you too.
