People who write negative reviews, and do you remember yourself as a teenager? The action takes place in medieval Scotland, which means that at the time of the events and the search for a groom, the princess is no more than 15-16 years old.
This is a cartoon and all actions and relationships are exaggerated, it is so easier for modern children and adolescents to understand, they do not know how to understand subtle emotions and subtexts.
Who among us, in moments of childish rage, has not told a mother who forbids to go for a walk and makes her leave, "I wish you hadn't been here." And immediately after these words he felt no remorse and did not ask for forgiveness.
The plot is simple, pleasant songs and delightful animation, one moment with the flight of an arrow that is worth it, it was appreciated by many professional archers. Landscapes, fabrics - everything deserves attention.
And team building mom and daughter on the trip is a good message: parents need to show more understanding, children need to think more about how children in relation to parents.
Separately, I will highlight the relationships shown within the family outside the main conflict - it is immediately clear that the family is loving.
There are a lot of complaints about this film. The fact that the princess can plunge her kingdom into the abyss of civil war, I will not disclose in more detail. That's a message children hardly count. The girl-princess poisoned her mother-queen, and when she became ill and she actually began to die, she was not even worried about her health, she continued to be interested only in achieving her goal. It is harmful to show children from six years old that you can poison a mother with whom there are disagreements, and then fix everything!!! Can the mince be turned back? Life doesn't turn around. What message do the filmmakers give in this cartoon? That you can be guided by selfish impulses and then everything will be fine. Such ideas are dangerous.
Each of our actions, each decision can irreversibly change our lives, the lives of our loved ones, the lives of complete strangers. Therefore, we need to make decisions guided by moral norms and feeling the burden of responsibility for ourselves and other people. Feminism in its constructive way is one of the most beneficial changes in the social sphere in recent centuries. But when promoting the idea of feminism, it is necessary to adhere to a constructive channel. The story of the poisoning of a parent does not apply to such.
I never understood why this movie was called Brave. Because it should be called Dumb.
Because it is not about a brave girl, but about a stupid girl who by her own stupidity and impudence put her own mother in mortal danger, and brought a series of troubles on herself and her.
I am truly outraged that this cartoon, not Ralph or Monsters on Holiday, won an Oscar. I understand that the “subpoena” made a cartoon about a rebel girl, but even in the same very popular “Monsters on Holiday”, the “subpoena” was also about racial minorities and their relationships with the rest, although skillfully veiled in the form of monsters and people. And there was a subpoena in Ralph, which showed that one should not judge people by the cover.
And about the same rebel girl, it is better to watch cartoons like The Little Mermaid, who argues with her father - King Triton and falls in love with a person despite all the prohibitions, or Mulan, about a girl who defied centuries-old foundations and went to war instead of her father because she loved her father and did not want him to die.
What's here? Dad wanted to marry a young red beast, so she ran into the woods, met some grandmother and with her help stupidly brought damage to her mother and her brothers. Are these people brave in our hearts? Who do not obey their parents, commit rash reckless actions and expose their loved ones to mortal danger?
Or is she brave because she had to clean up all the chaos she caused? Or was it the courage to admit that it was all her fault? I'm sorry, but that's not bravery. It is common sense, honesty, justice, after all, but not courage.
Why do all the men in the movie have to be so ugly? One is more disgusting than the other, since Merida's father, all are exposed as stupid, rude, uncouth muggers who also look like third-generation incest victims.
If without this, you could not make an interesting and strong character out of a girl, then you are a bad writer. If in order to elicit sympathy for a girl who wants to decide her own fate and not marry at the behest of her parents, you have to make all grooms look like mutants-degenerates, then you are a bad screenwriter (and apparently also a sexist).
The cartoon is shot beautifully, there can be no claims to the animators, they know their business. Here are some big questions for writers.
Beautiful and high-quality cartoon, in which everything is in harmony: the visual part, emotions, unlike other stories, colorful characters. Very strong Celtic music that fills everything. And most importantly, this time I can't say, "Secondly, I've seen it, it looks like this and this." It's really a new tale. I'll mention a few downsides. Despite the strong beginning and ending, the middle sags noticeably, the witch with her woodcarving is completely ridiculous and running around the castle for the bear was clearly delayed. They wanted to show the king less textbook, frivolous, unlike - this is generally a good idea, but in the end they overdid it, it turned out to be a completely ridiculous slob, on which you wonder and do not understand what he is doing next to such a queen. Also, triplets as characters do not carry literary value, these are the same purely entertaining knockout images as the squirrels from “Ice Age”, the penguins from “Madagascar”, the minions from “Despicable Me”, I would stupidly remove. I also want to say a few words about the critics. Once a long time ago, the fat blogger Sokol said monstrous things about this cartoon for the fact that the girl does not obey her parents and enchants her mother. Allegedly, she turns out to be a villain, a poisoner ... And some other bloggers have expressed similar thoughts, though less zealously. It was like half a brain was watching this and they didn't even notice the main thing. Merida did all this for a reason, but because her parents did not put a penny, considered furniture and were going to pass off as a minor for some idiot, and there was not that there was no love - it is shameful to look at the suitors there. So she had something to rebel against, she fought for her rights as an individual. Personally, I see no reason why knights and plumbers can save the princess, but the princess herself cannot. Yes, there's some feminism here, but it's moderate, I didn't see any excesses. The authors had an absolutely justified position, and they defended it honestly.
Various princesses have great success in the cartoon market and have had and still have Disney. However, Pixar studio also wanted to try themselves in this field and make a similar project. Overall, they succeeded, although not everyone accepted the job. However, I personally like it and I am ready to leave positive impressions below.
The plot tells about the life of Merida, who is the daughter of the Queen and must adhere to certain rules and traditions. However, such rules are a big burden for her, because she is far from the life of a princess. She is more interested in finding adventures and an unusual hobby for a girl archery. She has a difficult relationship with her mother. And the situation becomes critical when the girl learns that she is planning to marry. So she turns to the witch and curious events begin. Anyway, I like the story. We have a good conflict between children and adults with different worldviews. In addition, the characters were presented quite colorfully and involved mythological moments. So I think the beginning should interest the viewer.
I like the characters and the problems that the picture raises. Pixar does not change itself and we have a quality story that has an interesting solution. Merida will have to go a long way to understand how important it is not to seek simple solutions and what the consequences of her actions might be. She learns from mistakes and understands that you should not trust anyone with your fate and that your own desires can harm, even if they are good. Her mother’s worldview is changing along with other characters. They understand that the vocation can not be deceived and their own rules should not be overpowering anyone. They finally realize how important it is to just hear each other and trust each other, because everything else is secondary. This message works well in the cartoon and is great for family viewing.
In addition, as always, we have a good visual, humor and musical accompaniment without which such projects will not be in great demand. The picture is quite high-quality, there are both beautiful images of nature and colorful character designs that remain in memory for a long time. Humor is more childish, of course, but quite cute and benefits the perception of all events. Soundtracks are not very much, but they are quite appropriate and complement the characters. The formula for a good product is preserved. The only downside that I personally can lead that some plot moves were taken from the cartoon "Brother Bear." It is difficult not to notice, but it was the message from the authors in the tape that was laid out differently, so it is not so critical.
The verdict. This is again a good product from Pixar, worthy of attention and able to raise important topics. In addition, he does not forget to entertain us and gives positive emotions from watching. Therefore, I have no reason not to recommend this work for viewing fans of the studio and those who like to watch cartoons.

I agree that the film has something to praise. The graphics and drawings are beautiful. And to some extent, the film perfectly captures medieval Scotland. A funny king, a powerful but just queen, three devils and an equally beautiful princess. But something is missing from the film. There is no depth of Shrek, the redemption of Brother Bear and Mystical creatures and dragons. I would say that the authors were good at creating a good contrast between the people in this work. Princes, kings and their children are shown to be interesting, but not without flaws.
And yet, this movie tells me I've seen it somewhere before. I may have found some similarities with Xena, the warrior queen, Astrid of How to Train Your Dragon, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Sun of Princess Mononoke. But this is a long overdue stage. The idea of a girl with a bow is not bad. But in this context, there is no heroine development or plot. I don’t mind girls looking for their own way. To be honest, the example of San and Nausicai demonstrates this well. Miyazaki's work has no conventional end and no indication that the characters are getting married. Well, except for the Walking Castle, but it does not spoil the picture. Of course, Miyazaki also liked to make fun of male and female characters. Disney and Pixar, respectively.
I don’t know what the main character wants. Personally, I'm closer to Ariel from The Little Mermaid, who's a tomboy. He loves to explore and find love. Personally, I'm more sympathetic to her mother, who really looks like a real Disney princess. She knows what needs to be done for the good of the kingdom and handles her duties well.
I think the film is underrated. If only we could add a sequel with the heroes How to Train Your Dragon. I'd be interested in seeing that. By the way, there is a lot of fan fiction on the Internet on this topic.
In my opinion, the work reveals a very important topic - the relationship between mother and daughter. This is a very common relationship between parents and children. Children want to live as they want, and parents force them to live their own way. They can argue and swear for any length of time, but until there is a climax explosion, nothing will change.
Conflict arises on the basis of disagreement between the two sides and always carries an important lesson. On the one hand, the mother wanted only the best for her daughter - that she married and lived happily. Only the best for who? For the mother, of course. For her, getting married was probably a good thing. But as they say: ' people are not judged by themselves' And she still judged by herself, forgetting to ask what her daughter really wants. My daughter needed freedom to be happy. She tried to explain it to her mother, but it happens that people often do not understand the explanation in words. They need to go through trials, difficulties, pain in order to change their habitual attitudes in the head and accept the worldview of another person.
In this case, Merida wanted to convey her position to her mother, but she was so deaf & #39; to the words of her daughter that she had to lose her pride, sophistication, manners, in general all her power, and turn into a huge clumsy, and besides, dumb animal - a bear. The bear is only a metaphor for the fact that the mother lost her qualities, for which she clinged so tightly, and was put before a bare reality. Life abruptly pulled her out of her illusions, tore off her mask of false values to help her realize the real ones. Since her mother was very proud, life made her humble her pride. She had to take off her crown, both literally and figuratively, and get her own food to survive. Since she was strongly attached to the idea of sophistication and right royal manners, life made her clumsy and clumsy to knock out this falsity. Since she is used to commanding and deciding for others, life has deprived her of the opportunity to speak so that she pays more attention to her words.
There are many other clues that convey the metaphor of the bear image. However, the point was for the mother to realize how selfish and wrong it was to make another person (Merida) live by her own rules. Thanks to her experience, she finally heard her daughter and accepted her position. A wonderful film about an important and urgent problem!
I want to be free, to ride my horse, to let my hair fly in the wind, to shoot arrows in the sunset.
I watched this movie about five years ago. At first, due to my young age, I didn’t notice anything morally or visually suspicious about this cartoon. A few years later, after watching the cartoon again, I saw a lot of shortcomings, because of which this creation can not be seen by children. This is:
- The main character. The image of Merida completely rejects, even is set against the ideals to which the majority of young girls, and especially the forming, sometimes difficult teenagers, aspire. The latest model of the behavior of this girl can not be shown at all, since they think that it is very cool, starting to copy. The princess is a slob. She walks with disheveled, untidy hair, grunts when laughing, tears her outfit and walks in a tatter (after a quarrel with her mother), and also clogs the environment: at the beginning of the film, the girl bit off an apple, and throws the remains to the ground. The princess is an aggressive, insensitive egotist. Her behavior is inadequate, since the mother informed the girl that she should marry, she simply abhors aggression, in the form of waving a sword, accompanied by almost a womb growl. She doesn't care what happens to her mother after she eats a cupcake. Even seeing Eleanor writhing on the floor in agony, the red-haired evil waits only for what mom will say about her marriage now. No anxiety, no fear for mom's health. She irresponsibly shames her parents in front of other clans, without thinking about the consequences, since in her shaggy head there is only ' I want!' and nothing more. This shows its superficiality. The princess is stupid. We see that many, many times. First, what we have already discussed is her reluctance to at least learn about the side effects of a cupcake, so that bad things don’t happen to her mother. Secondly, it is a bunch of stupid actions in small things, ill-considered and short-sighted actions, as well as, sometimes, complete incoherence of speech. Merida sometimes can't connect two words. The heroine is hysterical. She doesn’t watch her manners, her speech, her emotions, and she doesn’t know how to handle herself, like Elsa from Frozen. The heroine is perfect in this regard. The question arises: why should we love this redhead? Its correction at the end seems unconvincing. And if this character is taken as an object of admiration, then another generation is lost.
- The second reason why this cartoon cannot be shown to children is a large number of flat stupid jokes, naked ass and other vulgarities.
- The pattern of men’s behavior is more pity and contempt than admiration. The king is stupid, indecisive and hard-headed, like his friends.
- Scary bear scenes. Even an adult can be frightened, not to mention children.
- A large number of aggressive or open gestures.
Feminist attitude, climbing into all crevices, where necessary and not necessary.
Adults can watch this cartoon, as it is quite vital, but not very worth it. Oh, yeah, more. Terribly ugly heroes. They're all freaks. Merida was just scary, like a tadpole with a red haystack on her head. Only Queen Eleanor is beautiful in this cartoon.
A high score can be put only for good graphics, as well as redemption of both heroines at the end of the film.

The film takes place in the Scottish Mountains. The main character here is a young princess Merida, who skillfully manages with bows. Her life was spent in love with her parents and three younger mischievous brothers. She tried to devote all her free minutes to herself, improving her fighting skills and riding a horse, but her calmness was destroyed by the news of her marriage. According to ancient traditions, the kingdom, consisting of 4 clans, must fight for the hand of the princess, but the violent temper of Merida will not allow this. She herself challenges the contenders on her hand, which creates discord in the clans, which her father and mother are not happy about.
In the hope of answers, she goes to a local hermit, who gives Merida the solution to all her problems. But what price should she pay? What conclusions will the princess make for herself? What ancient myths Merida is destined to unravel?
The cartoon carries a lot of hidden meanings, thanks to which you begin to treat your family with understanding. Colorful views of Scotland fascinate with its dense forests, rocky mountains and raging waters full of fish. For children, this work will be an excellent pastime, and parents have a reason to remember the times of their youth and ways to overcome difficulties in communicating with the older generation.
I have always loved Disney and Pixar. In these films I saw the love of life and family. In short, they created the image of princesses that I loved and appreciated. For a long time I didn't believe Disney would think it would be good to show a princess without a prince. However, my worst fears were confirmed. After I saw the myth “Braveheart” – already one idea and advertising of the film caused me a bad mood and it’s not that the main character was a princess with a bow on her back and with a strange grin of frightening guys and giggling at every word. I don't mind princesses. I can say that the mermaid is super and I liked Ariel and the other characters. I went to the movies in July 2012.
Animation. From the first frame was even better than in the Superfamily and the faces of the characters were close to human.
The story at the beginning looks interesting and funny. However, after 30 minutes, he just broke the pattern. Pixar was famous for the fact that his heroes were brave and strong. Overcame difficulties and became even cleaner and kinder. But here is the opposite picture, everything is very stingy and disgusted. Here the appearance of the raised question of fathers and children (just like Chernyshevsky, only vice versa) is created. We are introduced to the main character, which in fact is not the main one, but just a frivolous teenager who loves to be capricious and argue. Assume in life that happens, girls can be capricious. I agree on that. However, why in this film the idea is laid only in the fact that "we'll see who gets it." Mother and daughter fight throughout the film, like some kind of meger. Negative emotions are played out in every way and there is no positive except for the amazing Fergus and three twins. The story of the beautiful mother of Disney stories and fairy tales, who is trying to raise her ugly and poor daughter, somehow does not attract. The film reminds us of the real life of people who grew up on Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast and children who don’t want to know anything about love. Which prevented Vera Chapman from just making a good and interesting movie. Do they have a relationship with their daughters? In general, the story disappointed me and even managed to cause anger.
Characters. Here they are well drawn and worked out, they are interesting, but the story itself resembles some kind of farce.
The Lords’ dialogues and quarrels between them seem somewhat far-fetched. Princes are not of this world at all. One is said to have fought the Romans and the other to have fought the barbarians. No, I agree that all enemies were considered barbarians. However, it seems that the authors simply dressed modern people in medieval costumes. The princes themselves are not interested in marrying and preserving the kingdom. All right, you can blame it on youth. But, they behave like dogs and started a fight like dogs. It seems that everything is run by Queen Eleanor, while others simply obey or frenzy with fat. I agree with other reviewers that the characters’ behavior is puzzling and their motivation is shocking. In short, not thoughtful.
The idea of making the mother change her mind by any means necessary. I really liked her. The whole film, the heroine of 16 years, says: "I'm not guilty, it's an accident." Well, who went to the evil, but the witch? Who was smart enough to fight with mom and guests? Who am I asking? Right, no one, just a poor girl went to the witch for advice, and she for money bewitched her mother. By the way, the latter refused to take part (a good and honest person, I must say). However, things went wrong. The fate of the heroine really changed, and the mother became a bear. That’s what all of us and our kids need. Let everyone poison their parents with everything. Not because of money or a desire to wield power over the country or the people, but simply for any reason. Ha, funny.
In general, if you subtly analyze the film, then Fergus and Elinor were good characters, that’s really good parents and caring main thing. Twins were good (why the devils are unclear). Merida, although sarcastic in her own way, seemed superfluous to me. If only she was just a peasant and not the main character. Another thing. There is a girl who cannot think seriously.
The film is more suitable for young people who messed up and then admitted or did not admit their guilt. However, the tragedy is that if it were a fairy tale, well, that's fine. I looked and forgot. But personally, I didn’t like the fact that the film shows us that family is not the main thing, family values do not matter here and it is very sad that it is a reflection of the real world. Many girls seemed to absorb the image of Merida and did not want to draw conclusions. Wonderful, that’s why they make a movie so that the children come home and say that they do not need parents.
In general, the only character that is sympathetic and worth watching the movie for. This is Queen Eleanor. Fergus is funny, but not serious. King, you can't say anything. It's not even that he's funny. It's just like he doesn't think about what he's running. As for Elinor, she is a smart, beautiful, elegant and selfless woman. A real queen. It is a pity, of course, that in the end she refused to persuade her daughter to marry. But on the other hand, it can be understood as “you will not be forcibly nice”. And yet, if not for the theme of transformation and other nonsense in the film. He could have been better. The lack of plot and broke the picture, and then I broke up with the girl because of her desire to be like Merida. And all this was filmed for what, for the sake of leaving the room, we felt disgusted. That's why I didn't buy this DVD.
For me, the film is definitely stupid and unattractive. You can watch it when you’re sad, but not to the point where you enjoy it. And the name, bear and bow, more corresponds to the picture.
Mom, I'm sorry, I'm not going to turn you into a bear anymore.
The trailer promised a chic children's animated action-attraction, which is a perfect example of the struggle between good and evil, but both children and adults saw something else - this is not another charming Disney comedy-musical like "Mermaids" and "Beauty and Beasts", and not a cool animated action movie like "Kung Fu Pandas", but rather just a beautiful story in which the authors pursued the goal not to laugh or surprise something incredibly spectacular, but to prove to children, even in a fabulous way, when our parents are more strictly aware of their time, when they are being educated. Negative characters in this story, it seems, and not at all, maybe only the witch who sold the main character the wrong potion, and can be considered a negative character. The story is really interesting, but very confusing the complete absence of the usual for "Walt Disney" dizzying action, which we saw in the released about two years later "Frozen", and therefore the question arises where I went so huge budget, if the technical part in the cartoon is only expensive graphics, which has become an integral part of all the latest animated hits, and 3D-image, alas, leaves much to be desired - even the conversion of the old ones I called at the beginning of the review, but the multi-formatt is much more interesting for adults.
The cartoon begins with an episode from the childhood of the main character, when in front of this little girl her father lost his leg in a fight with a bear. Years passed, the girl grew up and mastered the art of an archer, but her parents do not expect her to fight a future, but are going to marry her to a prince and convene the clans of the kingdom to compete for the hand of the princess. The main character does not want such a life and resists the will of his mother. The girl goes to the forest witch and buys from her all the weapons that are in the hut, and at the same time the potion to bewitch her mother and make her forget about marriage, which leads to the fact that the queen ... turns into a bear. Now the girl needs to do everything in order to return her mother to her human appearance and not let her father kill the bear, because he does not believe that his wife is hiding behind the animal appearance. Daughters and mothers have to go through many tests to find a common language, while the mother can not even talk.
It turns out that before us is not an attraction for purely visual pleasure, but a benefit for the brain of any child who still believes in fairy tales, and can, after watching this cartoon, understand that the “ancestors” want good, and do not need to volition. In fairy tales, most often everything ends well, and life is much more cruel, and small children sticking noses and fingers where it should not, this is especially true. The fairy tale is a lie, as they say... You know what?

In a way, Braveheart is a unique blend of Disney and Pixar. From Disney got the idea of a girl [the princess], dissatisfied with his fate, and from Pixar — style and atmosphere (and lack of songs).
The film was criticized by some for discrediting the mother in particular and the family in general. But, personally, I do not see such a clear manifestation of undermining parental authority, because it is not necessary to show utopia in the movies, families (as, incidentally, and living conditions) are different. After all, the film ends with the reconciliation of the two main characters, right?
The film delights with its atmosphere, its balance between drama and comedy. Here you can empathize with almost all the main characters, they have perfectly revealed characters. I was pleased with the staid Elinor, who, despite the fact that the whole first part of the film is almost an antagonist, wants the best for her daughter, and she had attempts to explain this and apologize to Merida (although shown in a very comedic form). The main share of the comedy is made up of the brothers of the main character, funny and very charming "drawlings" and lords with their sons. Merida is shown as a girl who wants freedom and the right to control her fate (especially since the position of a married woman obliges her to behave differently). On the one hand, duty, on the other, heart, but it is best to be careful with your desires and dreams, because they can only aggravate your situation.
Since when did stupidity, stupidity and selfishness become fashionable? Why would that be? It is just these qualities that Princess Merida shines, which is so hard trying to squeeze into the Disney Princesses club. I agree that not all princesses were brilliant, but Snow White was at least beautiful and kind. And Merida is also mean. What normal person would try to poison his mother? And to be honest, it remained a mystery to me, where did this courage manifest itself?
In general, Scotland is a very strange location for a film about a princess, but Pixar likes to break templates, especially since the landscapes are beautiful and the local traditions are very interesting. But the whole movie was much more empathetic to the mother of the main character than she herself. The mother is an intelligent, beautiful woman who must live according to traditions and she successfully does it - she helps her husband, raises an ungrateful humbug who wants to behave like a kid and spit on common foundations. She forgives her daughter for her stupidity and is ready to die for her. In general, Merida’s mother is the only thing worth watching this simple picture for.
I do not forgive feminism, but to see how the filmmakers made all men stupid and dirty animals somehow unpleasant, even if the realities of the time were such, but then women should not be so idealized.
After watching Brave, there was such a vile, sticky feeling of dissatisfaction and meaninglessness in the last hour spent watching. What does this painting teach? Love your mother? No, no. I wouldn't say. Do you want to pursue your dreams by any means possible? Not either. One of the most unnecessary cartoons of recent years. I will not be revisiting it.
The film left a double impression. Aftertaste is not very good, and this is due to the fact that:
A) The cartoon is not childish, I would not recommend it to children;
B) The cartoon is not entertaining and will not give anything positive, but on the contrary, will take and suck psychological energy.
B) The ideas that are embedded in it are very wise and serious, but the presentation is ugly, and some collisions of the plot leave much to be desired.
Watching “Fearless”, which I heard a lot, saw attractive advertising, was interested in the image of a brave-looking girl with a bright red chic hair, I expected to see incredible adventures, get a portion of inspiration and positive emotions, a charge of cheerfulness, a charge of energy (like after watching How to Train a Dragon 1 and 2). But I ended up with a shot of tar and a full brain load.
The cartoon describes the conflict between a parent and a child, a mother-child conflict. A mother who is brought up within the framework of norms and decencies, traditions and “what people think” is ready from the best of intentions to distort the fate of her child, imposing her opinion (in the cartoon – forcefully marry). The child wants to live his life (shooting with a bow, racing through the forest on his favorite horse), but he does not know life yet, and instead of starting to change his attitude to the situation and heart to heart to try to talk at least once with his mother, he asks the witch to change his mother. Mom turns into a huge clumsy bear. It was a complete outing for me. Further, the cartoon is transferred to a series of running father-hunter for this bear (who did not know that this was his unhappy wife), the tinkering of the girl and her spiritual suffering, and how they fled to the forest, look for the witch to remove the spell, and the witch left for a long time, however, leaving as a hint wise advice - the pride of humbleness, repair the canvas (daughter during a quarrel with her mother cut the tapestry, which she sewed). The tapestry depicted a family, the girl with her cut “separated” herself from her mother. It ends with a snotty and not quite modified, in my opinion, happy ending. Mom was split and she kissed her daughter.
The cartoon, of course, a lot of symbolism, a lot of deep pitfalls. That's why I had a brain explosion. I expected from Braveheart that there would be the formation of independence of the hero, battle, battle, but not the remashing of gum in the style of “fathers and children” and the eternal dispute of generations, the eternal conflict between the desire of a parent to give the best to his child, based on personal ideas and his own upbringing, and the desire of the child to have the right to his own course of life. The girl is a red-haired restless, charmingly drawn, in the first part of the cartoon caused me sympathy, and her mother in a sense “infuriated” – you can immediately see that she wants to “do good” to her daughter, i.e. impose on her aboriginal traditional marriage, without even asking her opinion (they say, parents and age-old traditions know better). On the other hand, a mother cannot be blamed for this - she was taught this way, she had no other example. But in the second part of the cartoon, the points and positions of the girl clearly began to pass. She manifested herself for the most part as a nervous, capricious creature who did not want to listen to anyone, and this nervousness was very stressful. Especially when she screamed to her mother, the bear, “We need to calm down and think with our heads!” The mother bear was something. This idea became so dissonant with my expectations and logic that I could not accept it. That is why I call this cartoon complete nonsense and nonsense. It is not clear what rational thought, what lesson it carries.
The only thing I liked was the triplet brothers, who arranged all sorts of leprosy, the color of the early Scottish Middle Ages, all these forests, mountains, waterfalls and ancient castles; the episode at the very beginning, where a red-haired girl jumps on a horse and shoots at targets, and the very name of the girl is Merida.
Of course, this is a very serious cartoon. But there is too much farce, unnecessary humor, that is, as if the authors decided to make fun of the suffering and search for heroes, and not a good joke to treat the problem. I didn't like that either. That is, some dissonance: on the one hand, a serious conflict is shown. On the other hand, everyone is running, screaming funny, falling. Instead of showing that any conflict resolves Love, show all this mouse, or rather bear, fuss. Children will not understand this cartoon, will not understand those grains of wisdom, which the authors unsuccessfully and clumsily disguised as a beautiful wrapper. And for older children, this cartoon can generally make a depressing impression. He's very strange and specific, and not really kind.
I’ve watched a lot of Disney movies lately, and almost all of them I really liked. Therefore, before starting to watch this cartoon, I was sure that it will be no less exciting and interesting. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met. The movie wasn’t that bad, but I didn’t like a lot about it.
Like the story. In principle, the idea itself is interesting, but the implementation was not very successful. The first half of the action was really boring. Events on the screen certainly happened, but they were so boring and uninteresting that there was a desire to stop watching. From the very beginning, the story is cluttered and too fast. In two minutes, it is shown how the heroine’s childhood goes and how she turns from a little girl into an adult girl who immediately wants to marry.
And in general, everything that happens on the screen looks boring. And it is surprising that in many Disney cartoons in the plot contains a lot of blunders and illogicalities, and watch them interesting. On the contrary, there are no particularly illogical moments, but it is boring to watch. To be honest, I almost fell asleep at the beginning and at the end. Only in the middle, when the girl's mother ate a piece of cake and "changed," was it funny. I didn’t like the ending at all.
In principle, the main disadvantages in this cartoon are contained in the plot. More specifically, how it is provided to us. But from the technical side of the cartoon everything is fine. In my opinion, Pixar does not have failed projects in terms of graphics. All the characters looked individual, drawing made them so alive that it became difficult to believe that these were computer special effects. I especially liked the main character Merida.
As for the musical component, I can say that it is not particularly distinguished here not from the positive, not from the negative side. I can only single out the opening song, and even then there is not so much a song as the voice of the performer. The fact is that the Disney studio has long accustomed us to the fact that in their fairy tales (and this cartoon, by and large, is a fairy tale) there are always many songs, the characters are constantly singing, dancing, having fun and even sad to the music. In Braveheart, on the contrary, there are very few such moments. I don’t just mean music, I mean songs.
Judging by the story, I didn’t like the movie. But in technical performance it will give a head start to many others. And the characters were extremely colorful and cute, in fact, thanks to them my review has a green color. I will not advise you to watch it, but I will not discourage you. For family viewing, it is quite suitable, but most likely very quickly disappear from memory after watching.

So, adding this creation of Disney in his treasury of watched movies a couple of years ago, recently revised and decided to write his impressions. They're two. The cartoon seems to be half-made, and in almost every frame it throws from extreme to extreme. Let me explain why.
Visual component.
For the picture in general, there are no special claims. We have beautiful landscapes, detailed drawing of animals, nature - it is all at a height and looks very natural. And people are painted quite themselves, or rather, their female half. Women here in the tone of the general background have a normal, quite natural appearance, well, for the cartoon of course. At the same time, all male characters seem to be taken from another cartoon and inserted here. Well, just all suits and colors, with all kinds of body shape. Like cartoons. Very contrasting. Why does an adult bear look like a normal bear, but its cubs look like the symbol of the Olympics in 80? Again the contrast.
Plot.
In principle, we have already repeatedly observed this – the conflict between parents and children, petty pranks, a good-natured father and a strict mother, the hero makes a mistake, and then tries to correct it ... all this happened. You can close your eyes and just look at it.
Characters.
I don’t know why the movie is called Braveheart. Personally, I didn’t see anything brave in heroin. An ordinary selfish teenage girl. What did she do so bravely? But it is perfectly shown that she did not do anything brave. Merida, that's her name, who, by the way, looks more like Mr. Pronca than a princess, just essentially poisoned her own mother for her selfishness and cowardice before adulthood. Oh, my mom doesn't understand me, I'm gonna go give her something so she doesn't mess with it. Well, yes, she didn't know exactly what was going to happen, but man, to carry a cake made by someone who doesn't know who, it's not clear what and what, then you should have thought about it! You're not going to feed your dog. That kind of naiveté is not good either. In general, it was “fun” when she saw that her mother clearly became shitty after the cake, the only thing she wondered was whether her opinion about the wedding had changed. Daughter of the Year! And (sic!) until the very last moment she could not figure out that it is still necessary to admit their guilt, and not rely on higher forces.
The Queen of course pleased, both in the guise of a man and a bear, it is interesting to look at her, probably the most adequate and intelligent character, around whom everyone is like small children, and on her fragile shoulders lies all responsibility for family, state and other affairs. As Julius Caesar (who is a horse from Alesha Popovich) would say: Yes, this is a woman! Or maybe the name "Braveheart" is not about the red beast, but about it?
The king may have been conceived no longer as the head of the family and ruler of the kingdom, but as a comedic character, and a couple of funny moments with him still exist, otherwise he is just a big clown along with other similarly male characters, who seem to have been written off from the “Features of the National ...”, caricatured both externally and in character. And apparently, not too intelligent, preferring to rush to everything with axes, not understanding the situation.
Three brothers are twins. Honestly, I don't know why they're here.
The development of the characters is observed in a certain sense of the word, and it seems to concern again the same queen, who supposedly can be not only a walking statue of morality, but also a loving understanding woman capable of emotions, although it is clear to everyone that even from the very beginning of the film she was no statue, and she was made by such a worldview of Princess Merida, who does not know how to distinguish care from annoyance, responsibility from boring and parental instructions from tyranny. Well, by the end, she was more relaxed. The rest remained at the level they were at the beginning.
The movie has a moral – always think what you’re doing. I was also pleasantly surprised that in this Disney cartoon the minimum number of songs, and they are just background, there is no such thing that the characters literally communicate with songs, as in the same Frozen or Rapunzeli. Special emotions, aftertaste, he does not leave. In it, all virtues are equally combined with shortcomings, so that a solid

"Brave of the heart", or "in the literal translation of "The Free Bird"
In 2012, Pixar released another cartoon, which was worth waiting for only because of the loud name of the creators, since they always justified my audience taste with their creations.
And, as expected, did not disappoint and met the expectations of many, judging by the Oscar, Golden Globe and British Academy awards received in the category “Best Animated Film”. This time, the attention of the audience was focused on the times of kings, where girls were married without directly asking the girls themselves, the main thing is that the groom was of noble blood. This is the theme that is addressed in this picture. Princess Merida is not that she just does not want to marry, she and the princess do not really want to be, as more like battle and archery. And when it comes time to get married, and arrived grooms “one better than the other”, the princess goes on a desperate step and resorts to witchcraft efforts of the local witch in order to convince indulge in the instructions “how to behave” mother and convince her to give the disobedient daughter to marry, which leads to serious consequences that turn into adventures in the spirit of a la “Masha and the Bear” and makes the viewer worry about the characters, one of which for the first time in the Russian way duplicates Mikhail Shufutinsky.
The fact that the cartoon deservedly received its awards, there is no doubt, the only thing that confuses, a little dark colors, which is why you have to look at some scenes. The drawing of the characters and in general the visual series of the cartoon pleases the eyes, it is clear that the budget, which later justified itself almost three times, was not wasted.
The cartoon guarantees a good mood and is full of rich actions, so that while watching the film you will not be bored, looks on one breath, Braveheart shows that you should not impose your opinion on children and make a choice for them, and children, in turn, do not commit actions that in the future will have to regret. We all have to watch it!
Fresh, original cartoon. That’s the impression of this family cartoon. The budget, of course, this animated gift is simply huge, but the cartoon paid off and collected a huge jackpot around the world. In addition to audience sympathy and chic commercial success, this animated picture was warmly received by critics, and the cartoon received prestigious awards and nominations.
From this cartoon I wanted something new and interesting, this is what the cartoon gives the viewer. His story is fresh and original, full of secrets and surprises for the audience. Everything looked interesting, and we must admit that the animated film turned out to be good.
Before us is Scotland and the times when honour and word came first. We see the story of the red-haired Princess Merida. Instead of obeying the Queen's mother and being a lady, the girl skillfully wields a bow and fights well. Merida goes against the ancient traditions of her people, and fate leads her to a mysterious hermit witch. She imposes a cunning and dangerous curse, and now Merida can rely only on herself, saving a loved one and facing a monster face to face.
It was a pleasure to appreciate this cartoon. It was painted very beautifully, the atmosphere was magical and cute, the characters were all well thought out and original. The cartoon looked willingly more and more immersed in its history. This expensive animation project has everything you need: a dangerous, exciting adventure, and mystery and mysticism, love and courage, humor and comic moments, touching scenes and something cute. In the original voiceover, you can walk through this cartoon with Kelly McDonald (voicing the main character) and Adorable Emma Thompson.
Braveheart is a family, adventure, comedy cartoon with a taste of fantasy in 2012. The cartoon picture turned out to be funny and colorful. The youngest viewers will enjoy watching. Thank you very much.
P.S. The red curls of the main character were funny.
First of all, the fabulous world created in it did not seem very attractive to me. This world is certainly beautiful artistically, but it is still kind of empty, boring, I did not really want to be in it.
Second, I didn’t like the main character. When you watch a Disney cartoon, you expect to see examples of kindness, caring, compassion. In the main character I did not see these qualities. Independence is good, but independence should be combined with responsibility and respect for others. If independence is deprived of responsibility, it degenerates into selfishness.
Thirdly, the cartoon seemed small to me. I would like to see the fight against evil, the victory over a terrible evil wizard, the salvation of the whole kingdom or even the whole world, and in this cartoon the fundamental problem is how not to get married. It's not very impressive.
At the very beginning I want to say: what a difficult perceptual cartoon! I revised it completely, not in pieces, and the closer it was to the final, the more it hurt my soul. Maybe I’m just so impressionable, but the tears were straight.
So the plot is very simple: there’s a girl who doesn’t want to get married; there’s her mom who wants her well; there’s an optimist dad who loves them both. The problem of mothers and daughters revolves around everything that happens. The temperament of "Brave" differs from "Frozen" in a wilder way, there is more humor, confusion and hooliganism. But there's a lot more to it, and it's dramatic, which shows once again how hard it is to understand, even if you speak the same language. After all, both the heroine and her mother are right in their own way, and they do not want to hear each other.
Throughout history, there is a gift that is a curse, and a failure to articulate what you want, and an old witch with sclerosis, etc. There are a lot of different characters, half of which are a little infuriating (for example, three little bugs), but you can not pay much attention to them. Looks like a cartoon in one breath, but children under 10 years of age to watch it I would not advise: their truth can scare angry roar and terrible bears.
Otherwise, all is well, only the soundtrack was somewhat slurred. And the morality that GlavHeroin extracted (should at least have been extracted) at the end is not entirely clear.

Where does selfishness end and freedom of choice begin? How often do we blame everything on fate and say that we can not change anything in the order of things? This film will show us that there is much more possible than we think. Even within the framework that we have, because this framework can also be changed. Yes, life is not as simple as it is on the screen, but still. The general message of thought is this.
Braveheart is a touching and instructive story, with a positive ending, in which family values and mutual understanding between loved ones win.
At the beginning of the cartoon, we see a wayward and rebellious girl who does not want to follow the established order in the kingdom. She believes that she can live her life as she wants, and all the rules can bypass her. She challenges everyone around her, causing conflict in her home. Further, this situation will entail a lot of troubles, going through which, our heroine will change her views, change her attitude to traditions, in some moments will overstep herself and learn to appreciate loved ones more. In a way, it’s a little story about the rise of a strong person who has been rebuffed by this world at a certain age. A person who did not bend and did not accept the existing order of things, broke a lot of firewood and was able to solve the situation with the same internal strength and determination.
This is a great movie that can teach you a lot if you look right.
The cartoon is beautiful, there are no repulsive moments, there is humor, there is no excessive number of negative characters, here they can be said not, except for one. But at the same time, the victory of good over evil still retains its line.

Brave in heart, capricious in character, stupid in mind
Another Pixar cartoon. Golden Globe Award, Oscar nomination.
With the Oscars, they, in my opinion, bent, but the cartoon is good. The technical side, as usual with Pixar, is at a high level. Excellent animation, everything is very carefully drawn and done, colorful and funny characters. I especially liked King Fergus and the lords who came to marry their sons. All the scenes with them are just great.
As for the main character and the queen, everything is not so good. No, they are also perfectly painted /SPOILER: although I did not like the mother in the image of a bear at all / But here the main storyline is all about the mother and child problem and the already exhausted mandatory family values that Disney feeds all its cartoons with. Moreover, the problem is created by the heroine herself by absolute stupidity, and she herself plucks it. It was to say to an unfamiliar witch, "Spell my mother, it will change my fate." Whoa, whoa, you haven't seen the movie "Wish Executor"? You need to be careful with the details of your desires.
I am not against family values (and even vice versa) just do not like when they are so diligently, formulaically and a lot of hyped. Unfortunately, they are close to our reality.
Perhaps I didn’t like some local stupid domestic squabbles created by the household itself, perhaps the contentious character of the main character. Just to watch all this disassembly was not very interesting to me. For me, it was like this: pictures of beautiful nature - a joke - whims - stupidity - the king and the lords burn out - again fee - stupidity - disassembly - action and so on. Again, the cartoon is not bad: here and funny moments enough and animation at height, but something is missing.
P. C. As often happens, cheated in the title (in the original "Brave") and why here allusions to "Braveheart" is unclear. Just because of Scotland or the bait for not really delving?
P. P.S. I still don’t understand why she’s “brave.” What's the courage? That she was not afraid and went after the lights and was not afraid of the witch? Or is it brave to argue with your mother? Well, at the end, she became active, ran back and forth, shouted “Silence!” in the throne room, tried to restrain her father from killing a bear, shot at a huge bear (here you really need not be a timid dozen), but the story is not about this.

I watched this cartoon several times and only once from the third realized that a couple of moments desperately break through to the surface, causing a protest in my head.
1) The general feminization of Disney cartoons. Not that I'm against women standing up for their rights, but why cram that into children's cartoons? I can understand the origins of feminist ideas in 'The Little Mermaid', 'Pacahontas' and 'Aladdin' but in some cartoons it looks, to put it mildly, implausible. For example, in 'The Princess and the Frog': A female entrepreneur in the 20s was almost always a sensation, but an African-American restaurant hostess? I know tolerance, all that stuff, but other than the phrase ' what does this n*ger allow himself?' she wouldn't have heard anything then.
But back to 'Braveheart'. In the 10th century, Merida is the king’s daughter and does not want to marry. Really? Yes, in those days she would have just been whipped for disobedience and the phrase ' why should I marry?' even to the end would not be allowed to finish. The women didn't contradict it then. And no matter how feminists puff for their rights, they cannot rewrite history. Children will naturally not pay attention to these details, but why subconsciously give them false information? A child's subconscious is a very powerful thing.
2) Stupid male characters. In this cartoon there is not a single man who carries within himself a grain of wisdom or any great knowledge. All that the head of state can say is the story of his fight with a huge bear, issues of national importance are voiced and decided by his wife (remind me of the 10th century and the real role of women in society). Merida’s father, as well as the rulers of neighboring states, can only fight, clarify relations on high tones, eat tasty and drink hard. The sons of lords are either weak, dull, or ugly, Merida surpasses them in everything. The younger brothers of Merida are small pests, capable of fraternal help solely for food or mutual services. The feeling that the male population was written with animals, not with people, and it is unpleasant to look at.
The problem of mutual understanding is exaggerated to heaven, the daughter and parents do not hear each other to such an extent that you begin to jump on the spot, thinking ' let the person say!', not much out of a sense of justice, but because speech with constant mutual interruptions of each other is simply difficult to perceive.
Of the pluses - the story itself, the legend about the neighboring state and how it connects with each other is furnished very beautifully and mysteriously.
With all the shortcomings expressed, the cartoon as a whole liked, interesting, dynamic, aesthetically. In fact, Disney knows what to do.
I really like Pixar movies. Not everything, of course, and not equally. There are cartoons that I consider real masterpieces, like Ratatouille or Finding Nemo, and there are those that I don’t really like. More precisely, this cartoon is one, and it is called "Wall-E". So I just had to read all the Pixar cartoons. But there’s only one movie I haven’t seen, Braveheart. Now I can say that I have watched all the Pixar cartoons. I want to do the same with Disney movies, but it will take a while. In the meantime, "Pixar."
I read a lot of negative reviews. They say terrible morality, feminism and so on. When I saw the movie, everyone saw it in their own way. For whom it can be a story about an abnormal girl who decided to get rid of her mother for her own interests, and for someone like me, a story about real courage of the soul and heart. The film made the most pleasant impressions.
I liked the atmosphere of the movie. The atmosphere of a magnificent and beautiful Scotland. Great music that just adds to the atmosphere. Beautiful characters, great plot and, most importantly, morality. And morality is not that parents are your enemy, but that parents should be valued and loved. This cartoon is ideal for children, adolescents, and adults. A film for the whole family.
About the characters separately. More specifically, Merida. A lot of people don't like Merida. A spoiled selfish woman who puts her parents in no way, for whom only her goals and desires are important. I even heard that Merida has no goals or motives. They say to go against parents for love that they do not approve, to fight for their happiness one thing, and not to listen to parents on principle, as in the case of Merida – another. My personal opinion is that Merida is fighting for her freedom. She loves her parents, but she also loves freedom. The opportunity to be independent of anyone. And she did not try to kill her mother, but just asked the witch for poison. But Merida wants something different. After all, she could not have known that her mother would turn into a bear. But most importantly, what happened in the end. And in the end, Merida saved her mother, father, forced everyone else to reconsider their views on life. The cartoon ends perfectly, and after watching only positive emotions remain.
This cartoon is another masterpiece from Pixar. This is a good story about family values. That in the end, the family will still be the most important in life. The cartoon is gorgeous. Just like other Pixar cartoons. And certainly not worse than the cartoons “Rapunzel” or “Frozen”, with which “Braveheart” is often compared. It was a great cartoon, touching morality for the whole family.

One point is withdrawn exclusively for certain uncensored episodes. Well, who's watching, knows what I mean.
A cartoon that teaches understanding between children and parents.
What can I say? Pixar has created another masterpiece! Moral, great graphics, exciting plot, wonderful songs, great humor - all as always in the collection! Unfortunately, he did not become a cult, but for me - he is quite worthy of it.
First, I will say that in terms of morality, the cartoon is certainly not inferior to the previous hits of the studio. It will teach children to understand that their mother always wants them well. And adults will wonder, aren’t we too strict with children? Both parents and children will learn something from here. Also, the cartoon makes you wonder – can you change your fate, or is it unshakable? In general, moralizing is the main plus, undoubtedly!
Another great thing about Pixar is that their cartoons seem to attract the viewer to the screen. They are not boring, they are pleasant to watch. They do not take away from the screen, everything is done in them so that everything is interesting all the time - what will happen next? - What's going to happen? - That's interesting! And Braveheart was no exception. In a word, not only did the script fail, but also the production.
The graphics, as always, are great, so to speak.
The humor didn't blow either. There are many funny moments, but there is one small complaint – Pixar, do not do any more vulgar humor!
And I just can’t help but point out that the songs are just great. They're absolutely fascinating! It is a pity that there are so few...
So here's a great Pixar cartoon. Watch it with your child, rest assured, the cartoon will make you think very deeply! But I'm not putting 10, I'm putting 9. Because from such a scenario and such ideas could be made even better. The creators did not use the full potential of ideas.
Despite the abundance of negative reviews on my profile (often cartoons), I love cartoons. No, really. I love even more feature films, because in the latter, a lot depends on the actors. And, alas, recently acting began to limp on both legs. But cartoons ... after all, they are filmed for the younger generation, which means they carry some morality, they can teach a child something, can tell in a good manner what is good and what is bad ... In short, usually scripts and plot in cartoons are brought to the fore. Can this movie teach you anything good? I doubt it. Oh, I doubt it...
The first and only thing that bribes the picture is a very good animation. But if landscapes and animals look just fine, then all people were clearly drawn by a cartoonist. Yes, in many modern cartoons, people are drawn quite comically, but here it is twisted to its fullest. There are no pretty people except Queen Elinor. Here the queen is really pleasant, majestic, royal and well-bred person. Not to mention the rest of her family. At the same time, I don’t even know where the main failure of the picture lies: in the characters or still in the plot. From one follows the other, but we will analyze in order.
When the main character is a teenager of 16 years old, it means that the basic family values will be demonstrated. Respect your parents, protect the family hearth, remember that family is the most important thing you have, in short, we know this, and it has been demonstrated more than once in other animated masterpieces. The topic is hackneyed, but relevant at all times. And if the main character is a girl, then... get ready, a wave of cosplay is provided. But do you want to imitate Merida? How is it shown in the cartoon? A boorish, selfish, stupid and narcissistic girl who didn’t care about her family and the fact that she is a princess, which means that sooner or later she will be ruled by the kingdom. But no, she wants to ride, shoot a bow, climb rocks and disobey her parents. Oh, yeah, great role model. “We don’t want to learn, we want to scandalize and rude our mother, break everything that comes to hand, because it’s so cool! And if such-and-such mother continues to climb with her upbringing, then let's feed her a surprise muffin so that she does not come to us anymore! Are you serious, Pixar?! What does this teach the younger generation? Bullying parents if they wean their children from the Internet and force them to go to school? Bravo. Family values are there. And then this child makes an innocent person: “and not the fault of me, it’s a witch that did something wrong.” And in the end, we show that it doesn't matter how the child behaves, it doesn't matter that she almost killed her mother, and the kingdom almost got involved in a war, no, it doesn't matter, because good daddy and mommy always forgive everything. We can do whatever we want, and our parents will forgive us. And we can poison them, they will still forgive. Maybe I don't understand something, but how can you be so selfish as this obnoxious fool? How can you feed the poison of a mother, and when she wriggles in pain, think only of yourself? How? How?!
As it became clear, from the nightmarishly worked out characters emerges “awesome” plot. The male characters are all stupid and not far-fetched, who just to fight, but to fill the stomach. The three brothers of Merida, who can not speak or can not at all, are strange and pathetic to the whole cartoon, but their curves are not so much mixed, but how many are annoying. But they hold a good half of the humor of the cartoon! The second half was entrusted with comic situations in which Merida and her mother got into, but they did not laugh, but infuriated even more than triplets. Merida liked to laugh at her mother, who didn’t get along well in the woods, rather than thinking about how to fix what she had done. Well, from the very beginning of the cartoon it was clear that the main character does not like to move the convolutions. It seems that riding a horse through the forest, the heroine too literally “ventilated her head”.
The studio initially boasted of first-class animation in the cartoon, but, you know, I’m absolutely parallel to how much they spent on drawing hair, fabric and wool, because in the cartoon you can’t hide a leaky and disgusting plot behind a beautiful picture. Children don’t pay much attention to the schedule. No, they will look at history and humor, and the history will be stored in their minds, and in what capacity it will be deposited with them – that is a special question. This picture is more for teenagers, and is a guide to how not to behave. And why did this cartoon get an Oscar? For showing off family values that aren't there? Or did the rest of the budget go to bribe the commission? As a result, the writers simply did not get paid, otherwise I doubt that they could have created such a nightmare.
On this, I'll take a break. Value your family, honor your parents and take care of them. And also watch high-quality cartoons. And do not waste time, money, or energy on such “shydevras”, for they are not worth it.
Maybe the movie is very good and teaches a lot. Maybe I'm the only one here. But I just didn't understand why it was taken off. What's the point?
Half the film is busy with adventures in the palace of Merida’s father and the resulting not too high-quality humor (a scene when everyone without pants is well-oh-very suitable for a children’s cartoon!). The half-film is a manifestation of the rebellious nature of Merida and her wandering through the forest with her enchanted mother.
Of all this, I liked the brothers of the main character, funny and positive, landscapes and the appearance of many characters. It's called a beautiful picture. What's the point?
At first, it seemed to me that the cartoon was about rebelling against parents and about feminism: Merida runs beautifully, shoots with a bow and at the same time argues with her mom. The question is, “Why are you attacking my freedom here?” It seems like all the average teenage girls behave like this, well, let’s say I believed.
Then the story changes direction. Now they were trying to convince me that the family is above all else, or they were calling (with great pathos) to become spineless and submissive and not have their own will and opinion. And what happens in the end? Merida agrees to all the conditions of her parents and for some reason nicely communicates with one of the “fans”, whom she could not stand before. Like everyone has to do the same, stupidly obey, about this cartoon?!
Still, many write that the idea of the cartoon is in the unity of the family and respect for parents. But if this is the case, why should we push everything into such a stupid and meaningless plot, sometimes protracted, with a bunch of unnecessary and occasionally funny details? And from the main character to make a creature at the peak of transitional age, which behaves in places stubbornly, in places – is completely illogical. Sometimes I wanted to seriously ask if she had forgotten her brains at home when she ran away into the woods.
As a result, for the beautiful drawing, the hair of Merida and her merry brothers:

After, although collected a good box office, but trampled by critics in the mud, the sequel to “Cars” studio Pixar needed to restore its damaged reputation. Unfortunately, when other companies (DreamWorks, Disney Animation and others) year after year released mediocre projects, only sometimes giving out something really worthwhile (" How to Train a Dragon, Frozen), this did not pay much attention, but it was worth stumbling Pixar, as in her side fell accusations of insolvency and loss of the former creative passion. It was necessary to prove again who was the owner of the house.
And here on the arena went "Braveheart" - the debut directorial project of Mark Andrews, who, in turn, took over the baton from Brenda Chapman, who originally worked on the cartoon. The minimum task was fulfilled - critics of the film took quite warmly, though not enthusiastically, as Pixar projects usually meet. Plus a nice addition was another “Oscar” (albeit got the picture only due to the lack of strong competitors).
This time, Pixar is back with everything we love. This is a wonderful animation, and a very fascinating plot, and well-designed characters (although, I have to admit, here they do not reach the level we have seen in some other pictures of the studio). At least the wayward Princess Merida will definitely be among the children's favorite heroes.
As a result, the cartoon called “Cars 2” was forgotten as a terrible dream. Of course, the masterpiece from Braveheart did not work out, but the tarnished reputation of the studio was restored.

P.S. However, the need for respite was still felt. Still, before the Pixar team released masterpiece after masterpiece.
For those who don’t know, “comas” are “bears.”
The story with a short original name "Brave" (renamed here, by custom, in a longer and bulky version) tells us about the red-haired Scottish Princess Merida and such a difficult period in her life as the choice of a groom. A typical plot for a Disney cartoon about royalty.
Only here Merida is some kind of "infantile", as some would say - to learn etiquette and manners does not want, argues with her mother, in any free moment saddles a stallion and rushes to meet crazy adventures. The father looks through his fingers at the tricks of his daughter, however, the strict perfectionist mother does not like the girl’s behavior. Naturally, the freedom-loving princess, unburdened by dreams of her only one, stands up and shouts that she was taught to live by the rules since childhood, and she, it turns out, was against it! Against the background of teenage hormones, the inability of the mother to establish a conversation with the child and there is an explosion - the girl rushes away from the castle, where her eyes look. Of course, nothing good will come out of unbridled behavior.
Men look very unpleasant against the background of beautiful female characters, but the story is not about them. The whole story is built on the relationship of mother / daughter, parent / adolescent. Will the despotic mother and the obstinate girl find a common language and understand each other? Both make mistakes, both are to blame, but the cartoon teaches that no matter what mistakes you make, it is never too late to ask for forgiveness and try to fix everything.
Now for failure. This is the first Disney cartoon about the change of desires of a young girl, it is clear that they wanted to show, but it turned out somehow unimportant. As a character, Merida does not cause due sympathy, she does not really want to feel sorry, because all the troubles that fell on her red head are only her fault. The heroine, behaving like a capricious child, does not pull on a worthy role model, but on her example, I believe, a teenager can learn some useful ideas for himself: “Be able to correct your mistakes!”, “Do not run away from problems, but courageously solve them!”.
Do you remember the movie The Little Mermaid? That heroine also acted disobediently, risking her life and the life of her father. And I don't remember Ariel being blamed for a bad temper, like they blame Merida. They behaved the same way, just for a minute. There, the actions of the heroine are “justified” because she did all this for great love, and here, the actions of the Scottish rebel have no “due” justification. The idea that great love justifies all conceivable and unthinkable crimes.
Is it worth watching or showing children? The subject raised by the cartoon is quite serious, there is something to think about, and children will not see anything terrible here. As I wrote above, they will catch some good thoughts from the plot, and all this hype around “world-exciting feminism” will not notice. If you don't tell them yourself.
I was inspired to watch not only by the craving for cartoons, going since childhood, but probably some associations caused by the image of the main character on the poster. And it's not her wavy strands ... and the hair color could be anything ... but the main image of her, which intuitively attracts, perhaps because of the inner similarity with me.
In general, the animated film touches on the topic of human inner freedom. The plot is built around the conflict between Merida (the name of the main character) and her mother Elinor. The way of life prepared by Merida clearly did not fit with her immense and independent spirit, eager for adventure. What is worth her ability as if forgetting everything, running after mysterious lights in the woods. .
So, in the course of the cartoon, the characters come to an understanding, realizing how important one person can be to another.
I must say that the cartoon, like the heroine herself, can attract for various, even not quite realized reasons, because it is even difficult to understand yourself.
