A little-known masterpiece of high skill There are horror films in which with a very high intensity show blood, murder, screaming, panic, turmoil, massacre - and still, no matter how hard you try, it is only an external picture that does not penetrate the area of fear of the viewer. And if there is no point in such a film, then no matter how tricky he was, he would still not appreciate highly.
And there are movies like the Keeper... Where there are no bloody scenes, and horror penetrates under the skin, because the authors rely more on techniques that cause a stormy work of the imagination of the viewer. Rarely, but here coped, the technique of using the imagination of the viewer is very well applied and very often I tensely together with the main character I peered into the darkness of the forest, walked around the hut, and was afraid of unusual rustle. Sometimes goosebumps ran straight down the skin, as if there was already a tangible and invisible ghost in my room.
Despite the fact that the budget of the film is low, it does not catch the eye, I only guessed it when I thought about whether the film paid off or not.
In general, if you find yourself alone in the forest, where for many kilometers there is not a single human soul and there is darkness, creaking, groans of door hinges, knocks, incomprehensible shadows, images appearing and disappearing - and it is not clear that the imagination played out or something frightening is really happening - then you will understand the main character, who already had certain problems with her psyche. What can I say when the adventure began? She was scared and I was scared for her.
I do not dare to judge exactly what meaning or meanings are hidden under the outer shell of the film, but what the intrigue is created and holds, I can say for sure.
Very surprised and the lack of comments on this film and low rating, but what to do is probably a little-known work and not the most famous director, but Clea DuVall could lure more viewers from the poster with her mysterious face.
Don’t expect to see something astounding... and you’ll probably enjoy the movie, even though there’s no palate or color companion.
