Try me! A film from the category of those after watching which there is some duality of sensation. It seems that you did not show anything special, but sowed a grain that will now grow in your head and eventually give one or another fruit. This, perhaps, is not even a review or description, but reflections after viewing.
In fact, the film is a metaphor, from the title to the content. What does it have to do with an ice cream van? Why do they give away free samples of ice cream? What's the point? What's the comedy? And where is the stated romance?
There will be no clear answer to the above questions in the film. And that's a good thing. Because if for you, cinema is not a way to chew popcorn, stupidly scold and fasten idiotic commets, then you will see here everything stated on posters and even more.
In general, behind the leisurely narrative, there is a lot of unspoken reflection, even when the main character is just sitting and seemingly stupidly smoking. The satire also does not come out clearly. There won't be any bursts of laughter. There is no romance in its pure form, and that is good. There is everything that happens to a person in moments of loss and search, while not even understanding what.
The remarkable moments of the film I want to include the appearance of Tippi Hedren, at one time the muse of Hitchcock and later the mother of Melanie Griffith. She gives a number of information from her past lives, which is worth listening not only to the main character, but also to the audience, if of course, to hear and understand correctly.
But the appearances of Jesse Eisenberg, declared in the credits in first place, quick-fire, as well as his lines. Of course, he is pleased with his presence, but in fact, anyone could be in his place.
To sum up the monologue, the film is not for everyone. It is rather sluggish, there is no comedy in its pure form, but there is quite a clear melodramaticity, almost nothing is chewed and does not unfold on shelves, as in the bulk of Hollywood consumer goods. I personally love these movies.
Try it, maybe you'll like it too.
