The Temptation of Eve: An Angel Life is like a zebra skin. White stripes are replaced by black and vice versa. Such phenomena of the amplitude of life are found not only in the life of each of us, but also in the reflection of the essence of cinema art. Take at least individual genres that sometimes feel relevant, and sometimes so are not noticeable by the viewer. Hence, I personally believe that the heyday and peak of the popularity of thrillers fell on the 80s and 90s. There was something indescribable and with an emphasis on retro films. Which definitely appealed. So the creators of this series of films promised that the whole project will be in the spirit of the former erotic thrillers of the television format of the 80s and 90s. When they were very popular and became a material reflection of the equally deafening popularity of similar literature. Which is what attracted me. I do not know why many viewers recognized this part as worse than others and generally weak project. As for me, the director of the film Lee Kyung Tek shot a rather stylish and atmospheric thriller.
It is no secret that the cruelty and excessive entertainment of modern films can neither surprise the viewer nor frighten. The only effective way to do this is to abuse the brain, which, as Hitchcock said, "must provide the atmosphere of the film." That's the beauty of this tape is that it turned out very atmospheric. Almost the entire film is saturated with a rather tense, gloomy, hard and slightly depressing atmosphere. This is easily overshadowed by the rather mysterious and intriguing atmosphere, which is occasionally found when watching detective films and reading similar literature. From here, for me personally, the film flew almost in a couple of moments and figuratively speaking, I did not even have time to blink. Which I personally can count as a virtue. After all, very rarely there are enough emotional thrillers that are very easy to watch.
Trying to somehow describe the indescribable mood and emotional shifts of the film, it is impossible not to mention a worthy visual filling. Especially the presence of bed scenes that fit perfectly into the rather outdated vision of former thrillers. This is not to say that the film turns into pornography. But there are plenty of bed scenes. Just like the naked actresses on the screen. What was presented quite erotic, passionate, beautiful and stylish. So it is easy to say that men and in general lovers of beautiful female flesh, regardless of gender, will definitely enjoy these scenes.
Frankly speaking, even at the peak of its popularity, the thriller genre experienced certain problems with its mental activity. It would seem that it is difficult to turn around in the genre with something new. And everything worthwhile that could be invented has already been invented. Acting on such principles, we can safely say that the similarity of most films and literary works on the face. Take at least this film, which from the point of view of the plot concept in places is very similar to Paul Verhoeven's "Basic Instinct", which in turn was copied by a lot of other films.
It seems that history is not new and what is interesting about it? But no. To my great surprise, the creators managed to easily beat a fairly well-known and banal story in a new way. It was obvious who the killers really were. Nevertheless, some plot moves came as a real surprise to me. And the promise of the creators to make a series of films dedicated to femme fatale who are trying to survive in such a tough time for them is clearly kept. Hence, it is not the plot itself that is important here, but its intellectual and semantic load coupled with morality. After all, the film raises a topical issue for men and reveals the phenomenon of female sexuality, which confirms one main truth.
We all believe that power is in our hands and so on. When we forget that “the hand rocking the cradle rules the world” and that the role of women in society is belittled. Take at least the legendary Mata Hari, who through bed learned all the secrets of the enemy. So exaggerating, we can say that with the same power, modern women can not only learn male secrets, but also push men to certain actions so that they are not even able to suspect anything. Hence, it is not surprising that the entire screen world and people are presented in a rather selfish, cynical and nihilistic form. It’s like a prophecy of what the future holds if we don’t change ourselves. Where the mysterious plot is only a certain kind of “bait” for the viewer. It's like playing poker. When you have a good combination, you can never know exactly what your opponent’s combination is.
The singer of the main role Shin So Min played just great. She got a very complex and deep image of a femme fatale. The role is so natural and so natural that sometimes it could be done without words. All the work was done by her facial expression, which simply complemented the image of a chameleon woman who is able to adapt to any circumstances. On the outside, she seemed more than attractive. Which made watching bed scenes even more appealing.
Similarly, Jung Ye Cap played, who also did not lack such a deep role that there are no words to describe the excitement of his game. Overall, they played well, of course. But of course Shin So Minh becomes the center of the picture and eclipses everyone here. After all, this is quite attractive Se Yong Soo with her luxurious body, or other important characters of this tape.
The music of the composer of the film Khan Jae Hwon turned out to be very atmospheric and strong. Khan gave out purely stylized music for the thriller. Mysterious, intriguing, monotonous and devoid of any dynamic sharpness. That occasionally was supplemented by a rather electronic sound inherent in the club party of the 80s. Yes, and it repulses to the former format of both screen thrillers and literary detectives.
9 out of 10
Quite atmospheric, mysterious, intriguing and firmly staged mixture of detective and erotic thriller with deep meaning. I liked it and I would recommend it to you.
