Youth with a sad hue Avoiding unnecessary judgment and focusing on the transmission of feelings, Marc de Chloe tells a story from the lives of young children, unfolded against the background of tulip fields. Beautiful with his carelessness and desire to absorb all the new period of growing up is overshadowed by tragedy - the result of accidentally escaped malice, not without the intervention of chance, and the subsequent heavy experiences that risk developing into self-destruction.
Since the mention in the title of the film focuses on color, the eye inevitably catches the presence in the frame of various shades of blue, and thoughts rush to search for the meaning inherent in them. Yesterday’s schoolchildren, touching tiny turquoise socks, embark on the path of adult decision-making and begin it by restoring a nearly lost friendship. The expectation of “little Jacques” unites and gives birth to the hope that it will be possible to forgive yourself. Close-ups of persons, along the way fixing the change in color of the eyes of Thomas, Manu, Chris from dark gray to delicate cornflower, give more than a reflection of the internal state - they give a feeling of closeness to what is happening and, as a result, a sense of empathy arises. Another fruit approaching birth was created by Thomas. This flower, painted in juicy blue, which turns into a symbol of Jacques’ unfulfilled dream – to shock the whole world.
The last shots, in which teenagers race along the road along the flower fields, accompanied by the music of Lawrence Horne, which, by the way, blended well into the overall tone and pace of action, refer to the beginning of the film, as if absorbing everything that happened and as if explaining the obvious: fatal mistakes remain forever in the memory and can break a lifetime. Fortunately, Thomas was saved by love and friendship.
