Midnight Aether What are the words really? Just sounds torn from the speaker’s mouth, or something more meaningful? Very often we do not think about what we say, how we say and for whom. After all, either the words are not chosen, or the audience and listener are not the same, they can not always lead to good consequences. This does not deprive the speaker of unambiguous responsibility from what he did. But how much do we recognize the great responsibility that each of us has? It is more accurate to ask not “how much”, but “when”. This film is directed by Kim San Man. We can safely say that the director of the film Kim Sun Man has shot a truly very strong, not trivial and very dramatic detective thriller, which demonstrates something more than just genre elements.
Of course, there is a lot of action, chase, fights, murders, bloody violence and other elements of a worthy exemplary thriller, which are performed in the best traditions of the genre and at a high level. But if usually the whole bet of the visual series goes to this, then in this case this is not observed.
Kim Sang-Man did not try to make violent murders and violence an element of fine art. Rather, in some places, emphasizing the usual camera shooting, Kim Sun Man rather tries to convey the predominance of content over form, and not vice versa. What we see in our lives more often. The movie may not be as shocking as I Saw the Devil, The Persecutor, and Remembering Murder, but it’s a different way. Before us is not an ordinary detective thriller with dynamic action, but also a serious human drama. That only increased the emotional, tragic and nervous degree of drama unfolded on the screen. Especially in the final, which is a real apotheosis and sublimation of the main elements of the tape together.
The plot is definitely one of the main advantages of the tape. Despite the fact that the whole film is a kind of mixture of Simon West’s “When a Stranger Calls” and Joel Schumacher’s “Phone Box”, the film is a completely different movie. Very emotional. Especially the ending, including the philosophy of the tape. The film raises a very shaky dilemma. When a person's duty to a loved one and his principles rise on the scales. You can only guess what choice you would make in such a situation.
It is around this that the main intrigue of the tape is spinning. Will the main character abandon her principles to save her children, or will she be faithful to them to the last? After all, the film in a very deep form raises the same theme as the Russian thriller “Stone” with Sergey Svetlyakov. We are responsible for those who have been tamed and we are equally responsible for the words and actions we have spoken. After all, without knowing it, perhaps we push a person if not to commit a crime, then on the path of self-destruction for sure.
This film in deep form defines who a person is in such a difficult situation. An ordinary avenger who tries to justify his desire for murder, or an obvious hero who exterminates the scum of society evading the law. The philosophy of the tape is very strong and the creators of the tape revealed it in the picture very widely. That gave the seemingly traditional genre plot not only a certain highlight, author’s depth with a social position. In addition to everything, quite a genre plot looks even more dynamic and watching the action happening on the screen without any emotions becomes well just unreal.
Soo E played just masterfully. I haven’t seen this level of transformation into my character and depth in a very long time. She perfectly managed to show the image of not only a strong woman, but also a loving mother who is ready to go through the seventh circles of hell to save her child. The game is very natural and emotional. And Su E is incredibly attractive. Which only increases the level of empathy for her heroine at times.
The game Yu Ji Tae is so scary. His performance turned out not at all a classic villain who manifests himself within a certain genre. He is cunning, he is dangerous, he is insidious and insane. Yu Ji Tae has created a truly convincing image of a real madman, at the sight of which already shakes. He played the role because of the physical factor. When facial expressions, facial expressions, body language and other physical factors create a more complete image than the abundance of words from the mouth of the performer. For a long time I have not seen such characteristic and not trivial villains in the movies.
The musical accompaniment of the tape is performed very strongly. The composer of the tape Kim Joon Song seemed to instinctively feel what sound and what musical motifs will perfectly emphasize the emotional intensity of the tape. There is no other way to explain how music has given individual scenes even more drama and dynamism. And the film itself made much stronger than it could be in a solo performance.

Midnight FM is an impressive and worthy example of a quality thriller, dynamic, spectacular, intriguing, exciting and with deep meaning. That combined with the amazing acting and socially relevant morality creates a desire to see the film again and more than a dozen times.
