Is perfect love a fabulous love, or is it possible to meet it in life? A wonderful French melodrama that has just been watched. In romantic comedies, women are usually central. Stories are told from a female point of view, and most male characters are not very well presented: they are unreliable, insensitive or selfless and boil down to only one thing: getting a woman into bed as quickly as possible.
The French comedy "Love is for two", changes the point of view from the female to the male, and tells the story from the point of view of a man named Michel (Clovis Corniac). He is a type of “perpetual romantic” and dreams of accidentally stumbling upon the woman of his dreams, just as it happened to his grandparents, who lived together for 60 years, after a chance meeting in London, and then with his parents, who lived together for 35 years. Michel Always admired the way his parents lived for 35 years, soul-to-heart, maintaining loyalty and love for each other. This is always told on their anniversary for anyone who wants to hear the story again. After all, they had a wonderful marriage. Michelle wants to find the perfect woman of her dreams in this way.
But he constantly sees unhappy couples around him, who either cheat on each other, or constantly swear, or divorce and share property. And the first marriage of Michel himself was unsuccessful and lasted only a year, after which he and his wife divorced.
Michel’s friend, Vincent, a divorce lawyer, wants to give his friend the appearance of a chance encounter that he hopes will bring him happiness. Two bosom friends Michel and Vincent have different attitudes towards love and women. Vincent likes free relationships, and Michel is waiting for a special chance meeting with the only girl for him. Vincent has a very dynamic sex life, and he tries to persuade every woman to go to bed with him - and he usually succeeds! Despite their differences, the friendship between Michel and Vensan is very strong, although it is being tested.
Vincent decides to cheer up his best friend by giving him a blind date. Thanks to his girlfriend Natalie (Annelise Hesme) Vincent gets acquainted with the beautiful Angel (Virginy Ether), and she turns out to be the perfect pair for Michel. And here is a "random date." After an unpleasant start, a click is obtained, and soon Michel and Angel fall madly in love with each other. But when Michel discovers that his best friend is behind his supposedly spontaneous encounter with Angel, his world collapses. He parted with Angel, and for the time being he did not want to see Vensan anymore. But without Angel he probably won't be happy, and once he understands that, Michelle along with Vensan will do everything possible to get her back.
The humor in the film is both strength and weakness; sometimes it is too flat, and sometimes too outspoken. French humor is something special, it is not always situational, it can be contained in the harshness and causticity of phrases, in stylistic techniques. In French comedies there is a principle of moderation. The French never go beyond certain limits. It is worth taking some time to get to know the characters.
At first you will think that Michel is a typical French hot-tempered man who goes through life disappointed and grumpy, desperately clinging to the ideal image of perfect love created by his parents. But, as is often the case, a man does not know what he is missing while she is not there, the woman who is destined for him by life itself. And as soon as Michelle understands this, everything changes in his life. Clovis Korniyak perfectly shows his character, and also has good chemistry with Virgin Ether.
Vincent also does not immediately have sympathy: an incorrigible womanizer who evades parental duties, and also works as a divorce lawyer. But he also undergoes radical changes when he gets to know his old friend Natalie.
Both Michel and Vincent understand that their approach to love can get them not where they want. The story is told easily, with charming actors, a smooth pace and a delicate balance between humor and life lessons.
French comedy "Love is for two" - the film is light, comic, though not causing a stormy laugh. But the situations in it are funny, as are the characters. Good comedy with meaning Something fresh and new, good humor, brilliant acting. I really liked it. It's about love and friendship. This film teaches us not to dwell on what can make our lives close to the ideal or, on the contrary, lead to disappointment. All romantic stories certainly can’t contain anything but good. I am glad that one of the main characters understood this.
The film, of course, does not claim to be of particular depth, but one word "French"! Easy, funny, ironic . Of course, this is a melodrama, because the plot is in a film about love. And love is always melodrama. But there are many funny moments in the life of the main characters, which means that it is a comedy. But comedy is easy, as is often the case with the French, sometimes with a slight touch of sadness. Fans of European cinema know that the main thing in these films is the maximum approach of the main characters to life, real characteristics. They are cute, but simple, as in ordinary life people, and not beautiful mannequins, as is often the case in Hollywood cinema, and this fact, just I am very impressed.
The events are quite dynamic and interesting. Acting is enjoyable and natural. Filming and locations are beautiful, the music is unobtrusive, it fits the plot. Very cute French tunes are played, sometimes with some American tunes.
I liked the film, the comedy turned out to be subtle, touching, with excellent acting and the implementation of the plot. There is not much dynamism in the film, but there is meaning here, although I did not understand something, especially in the behavior of Vincent, well, you can not be so principled... Romanticism and beautiful shots are also present here, that’s only the age limit of this film “16+”, so not everyone will like dialogue, humor, etc., but for me it does not matter.
I recommend the film to lovers of French melodramatic stories with meaning. This movie is both touching and funny, romantic and sad.
