'Crows: the beginning' tell us a Gopnik who transferred to the most dysfunctional school in the country to become king in it - this is the main storyline of the film. The film has enough good fighting scenes and interesting characters, especially I was impressed by the loser yakuza (friend of the main character), who can not find his place in life and tries to appear to be what he is not, watching his fate is much more interesting than the fate of the main character. So it turns out that ' Ravens: the beginning' tells two stories at the same time: about the formation of the king of the Gopniks and about a good loser in the skin of the yakuza.
I liked the movie, although some scenes made me laugh.
I came across the movie Crows by accident. It's just that he came out so well in random "Kinopoiska" movies. First of all, I noticed that this is a Japanese film, and I don’t know any strong Japanese works. They are, but there are not so many, and especially films in the style of “fighting”.
What is this tape about? There is a Suzuran school where only boys study. Naturally, each of them wants to become the head of the school in order to become a kind of ruler of the pride (comparison with the animal world is due to the fact that the character of the guys is similar to animals, but almost everyone aspires to the rank of the king of Suzuran). As in any school, there are gangs (some are bigger, some are smaller, but each is worth considering). But the school has its own unspoken leader - Tamao Serizawa (performed by Takayuki Yamada). Subsequently, a new disciple appears who wants to become the new king of Suzuran. From this moment, the film starts with a simple plot and a predictable ending (by the way, the film touches on the theme of father and son). But this movie is worth watching and here's why
First, the acting, although not at the best level, but the actors do their work at a decent level (this is not Korean dramas). Takayuki Yamada (Serizawa) and Shun Oguri (Genji) are very charismatic characters. They appear before us as the brutal leaders of their classes.
Secondly, the film features Japanese rock, and our characters are dressed like typical rockers (J-Rock fans will love this).
Third, fighting. The fights are done at a good level, especially considering that this is not a Chinese movie with its turntables and Jackie Chan. Heroes get in the face and give back. Of course, they do not need protection, because we are “Asian irresistibles”!
In the fourth, this film is worth watching for girls who are dragging on the “bad guys”. The image of the bad guys is very clear in this film. I’m sure the female audience will love this movie.
As for me, I liked the movie. It is worth seeing because of the main characters, which turned out very colorful. The film can be viewed in one breath, because when watching you do not puzzle, what will happen next, who will be a traitor. This movie is very clear.
I don’t think there’s a need to write spoilers or reveal plot moves.
I came across the Crows movies. Beginning" and "Crows. “Continuation” when looking for authentic films demonstrating the aesthetics and style of modern Japanese popular culture. And it's not wrong.
Here are 5 reasons why you should watch this movie (if you’re still like me, a little earlier, didn’t).
N1. Excellently conveyed aesthetics of manga anime. Stop frames, color, graphics in each frame. This is interesting because the Japanese anime subculture has conquered the youth space around the world. Want to know why, welcome to Sujiran!
N2. A double "line" of the plot and heroes. Deceptively simple and graphic images of the characters and the plot, in the course of the film (and certainly with subsequent thinking) turn out to be a “double bottom box”. You just watched the action? And you were told an old story about how to be a hero, what it means to keep your word, why you should die with honor, what doubt is and why admitting your weakness is a sign of strength.
N3. The complete authenticity of the story on the screen and the feeling of rabid youth, under-screamed, unkissed, under-cooked, unvirtuous and without saying the final "I am free!". What lies at the bottom of each of us. We remember. We smell the truth. And so we respond to this story.
All stories about superheroes (American mythology) come from the same wonderful country. Only here their addressees are slightly more infantile and tend to trust “miracle abilities” or “miracle weapons” at the worst.
Suzuran's heroes do with their fists.
N4. Great actors in the role... I wanted to write a hero and a protogonist – but I can’t. There are no heroes and antiheroes, unlike the world of Marvel.
Each, despite, or perhaps thanks to (?), graphic storyboards are lively and voluminous. Weak and strong. And, importantly for me, their images, shown by the director and the cameraman, leave room for inner development. They're unsaid. Behind each there is a place to meditate on why he is exactly what he could be, and what is left behind.
N5. For "difficulties."
They're... beautiful. And never sweet. Well, you and I dreamed of one. Really?
The best story about school kids I’ve ever seen on screen!!
I first watched 'Voronov' about five years ago. Hell, from that day on, every time I hear the theme of that movie, I get goosebumps running down my back. When I revisited it years later, I experienced the same thing I did then - a rush of drive, a desire to go forward no matter what. After learning many years later that the film was directed by my favorite director, I was stunned. After all, Takashi Miike is a genius, he can shoot a serious samurai drama, a western, an arthouse thrash, a yakuza action movie, a video game adaptation, and everything will come out more than fine. He's doing it! He managed to shoot a film adaptation of the shōnen manga about schoolboys fighting. And such a screen adaptation, which is simply imbued with the spirit of the source.
When Miike filmes something or makes a remake, he just takes the original source and improves it (the exception is the video game 'Yakuza' it is so perfect that the film adaptation of Miike came out worse than her). So did Miike with 'The Ravens' - took some events from the manga and brought them to perfection. The only thing the manga was better at was brutal heroes. Still, I can't believe that such handsome boys are lovers of brushing each other's faces. But it even gives the film some charm and, so to speak, cinematic.
A little about the plot: our main character is Genji, who wants to become the king of the school, where the most dangerous and pugnacious schoolgirls are gathered - Suzuran, because of a conflict with his father, who is the boss of the yakuza clan. He is helped by a charismatic errand boy from another mafia family, who also studied in Suzuran. So, overcoming difficulties, recruiting more people under his wing, he goes to his main goal - to defeat the coolest student of Suzuran, Tamao Seridzawa (about him later), and become the king of this abnormal school. As you can see, the plot is not very original, but for shōnen - it is the very same, and its presentation here is just *chmafk* perfecto!
And now about the best part of this film and my childhood idol - Tamao Serizawa! Tamao Serizawa - the main competitor of the protagonist and the most charismatic student of this school. Tamao Serizawa - this is Asian Apollo and Johnny Depp in one bottle! Unlike most antagonists, Tamao Serizawa does not cause hatred, even on the contrary - sympathy (in my case too strong). In this picture, he is just a picture, even the manga could not display all the steepness of Tamao Saridzawa as it is displayed here. The actor was chosen so perfectly that on Tamao Saridzawa I want to tirelessly pray day and night! Um, sorry, after seeing a psychiatrist, these attacks are becoming less common. I hope the review was informative and informative.
Takashi Miike is one of the most extraordinary, in my opinion, directors of our time, who have repeatedly surprised us with their far from standard solutions. What are only "Ichi-killer" and "Iso", knocking down in the air with their atmospheric passages and a clear structure of cruelty. The same man made "Scars in the Sun" - the strongest social drama about the mores and spoilage of modern youth. But most people respect him not for these films, but for the Ravens, with whom I, to my deepest regret, simply could not help but get acquainted.
A promising beginning in the spirit of Kitano allowed you to relax and allow the idea that the game will cost a candle. But within ten minutes, Kitano vanished without a trace, giving way to deliberately rough “comics”: sharp camera transitions, fashion filters and other things that serious directors can hardly afford. You could close your eyes to it, but for what happened for the next hour and a half, the director is simply impossible to forgive. I will try to describe the structure of what I observed: 10 minutes – crowds of handsome young Japanese with serious faces look at each other, puffing up eyebrows, occasionally throwing pompous speeches sucked out of a finger and interrupted in muzzle; the next 10 minutes – one crowd of Japanese reflects on what kind of bastards in the second crowd, how to beat them up next time and how to quickly become the main one does not understand why and in which school; the next 10 minutes – another crowd thinks about the same thing in relation to the first one. The usual organization is broken only by a drama so far-fetched that without twirling a finger at the temple, it will not be possible to look further. And so on in different order. Pearce Brosnan’s pathetic inserts in early action films with his participation simply cannot be compared with the “philosophical reflections” that the heroes of this film allow themselves to indulge in. Sometimes it seems that supposedly profound conversations against the background of chthonic industrial landscapes are inserted only to create the illusion that the film has at least a slight intellectual load. But don't try to look, she's not there. You will say that I am a bore, that there are many beautiful fights for which at least an amateur can watch this movie. Maybe. But judge for yourself - in order to enjoy a fight, you need to first understand what people are fighting for, who to empathize with, and who to blame, in the name of what all this is? But the Crows do not answer any of these questions. I know there's a fight for a fight, but that's not there either. The lack of meaning lies behind false sentimentality and artificial morality. Before you agree, review the film.
Plot. How much and at the same time negligible in this word. If you're making a movie without him, at least make it so that you can see something. Am I wrong? How many beautiful tapes, not burdened with this atavism, but completely from this not losing was removed. Often hang nauseating labels - "arthouse", "cinema is not for everyone". Why isn’t there a “movie for idiots” label? There are films in which there is an amazing idea, but the authors, due to the not very developed directorial abilities, cannot adequately translate it into a cinematic form. Such a movie can and should be watched, because the idea, although drowned in imperfection, still glows with undying fire. There are films that simply amaze with beauty, music, characters. Movies that will one day get into the soul and never get out of there. “The Crows” repel and create great hope that you will never come across such a film again. It is often said to be “watching for amateurs.” I'll tell you not to watch anyone.
The film takes place in a Japanese school, Suzuran, where the main goal for all students is to establish their authority to control others. There are many independent fighting clans in the school, and there is the unproclaimed king of the crows, Serizawa, who is feared, but not admitted. But a newcomer, Genji, also lusts for power and makes a bet with his father, a gangster: “If he becomes the leader of the Suzuran school, his father will give him his entire Yakuza group, and he will retire.”
Genji decides to gather his clan, for this he beats whole classes of students to the left and to the right, calls all leaders to fights, someone immediately gives up and goes to his side, someone has to be persuaded by words and deeds, some set him up, here he finds new friends. Serizawa learns about the conspiracy, he also begins to conquer non-aligned clans.
After all, a big battle for the Crow School will soon begin: the Genji clan against the Serizawa clan.
I didn’t like the whole picture because:
1) I am disappointed with the primitive and unrealistic plot.
2) The genre is more comedic than the declared action thriller.
(3) The staging of fights is disgusting and implausible.
(4) Playing actors is unnatural or talentless.
(5) Chaos reigns at the Suzuran school: there are no teachers, no classes, all the walls in the building and on the street are decorated with graffiti, everything is broken, most students are overgrown or several times stayed in their second year, half have idiotic hairstyles, and some boys look like girls.
(6) The film is not serious, as it was shot for anime lovers.
7) The rating is large, but those who have not yet had time to see this creation - pass by.
(8) A boring movie stole 2 hours of my life, I regretted watching it.
