Europe cinema is so European. This film was shot by four European countries: Italy, Spain, Germany and Switzerland. Note that France is not on the list. French cinema is separate from European cinema. It's a completely separate world.
Even actors from different countries speak different languages. The main character is German (by the way, plays Nora Chirner - cute from "Beauty" and "Beauty-2"), but the main character is Spaniard (Unax Ugalde). This is also a familiar face.
I don’t know if the members of the film crew understood each other, as well as the actors of each other, but it seems that the film turned out to be sketchy and raw precisely because of this misunderstanding and difference of cultures and national color. Some kind of porridge turned out with the plot and with the heroes. Maybe it’s not because of different nationalities.
In general, I must say that the film is not like any romcom or melodrama. Quite a strange plot development and a strange relationship between the main characters. And kind of love, and kind of friendship, and kind of dislike and even unfriendship. Indefinite, illogical. It's weird. Or maybe life. I thought the movie was going to be about love. And it's mostly about life's rehearsals.
When it comes to friendship, it is beautiful. Except it doesn't take too long. A lot of unnecessary, uninteresting characters whose lines only spoil the story. Let it be simpler, but at least the viewer will have the opportunity to penetrate the main characters. And all these Thomases, Italians, mothers and ex-girlfriends - all this is such unnecessary tinsel that the film just wants to turn off. Sometimes European cinema is dry and meaningless. Yes, it's about "Pleasant Appetite!" Before the finale, I was pretty sure I had seen it in vain. But then it happened. The final scene with a confession, absolutely beautiful in its emotional content, the birth, which just blew something in me, and the end of the film with the letter. The last 15 minutes changed my mind about the movie. They so smeared the impression of the whole film (and in a good way), that I want to praise quite a medium film. I don't know what to do. I would advise the director to cut out those last 15 minutes and turn it into a short. It would be nice, atmospheric and very European.
No, in general, not bad, albeit undynamic and everything like that. The film is easy, sometimes cute, sometimes even interesting. But that's what it's about? What did the creators mean? I don't see the subtext. "Pleasant appetite!" is clearly not for a wide audience and here I must say that thank God. I don’t know what to do after watching. For me, this movie is in the embryonic stage. But I will put for the hooked final high
