Korean color, tear, tantrums on a level place... On the background of a good story!
Korean cinema has never been taken seriously. Accidentally came across 2 series that were interested, because they had very high ratings. And this masterpiece is one of them.
From the very beginning, the Korean color with a tear and pathos begins to irritate. A kind of "Spanish shame." For a long time I thought, what does all this remind me of? Then I realized - Indian cinema, in which I missed songs and dances.
Dialogues are a separate pleasure: they resemble the communication of mentally retarded people. It feels like two crazy people are having a conversation, each talking about his own. It sounds something like this:
- I ate an omelet today. Why is the lilac wet?
- Yesterday we were small and today it rains in Madagascar.
Tragedies come from nowhere, out of the blue. The main character, who seems very cool, behaves towards the main character (and in general to everyone) as a pregnant woman who wants ice cream with garlic, then beer with strawberries. In a word, “I came to take your brain out, dear ones!” And all this beauty with pauses in half a minute, tears, screams, hysterics.
The plot idea is quite curious, but in the end it resembles Santa Barbara, where "it is no longer possible to understand who whose mother, who whose father."
Logic in the actions of the heroes generally died the series so on the 5th. Apparently, this happened because the behavior of a pregnant woman during a hormonal disaster is not alien to all characters.
But, oddly enough, the plot holds despite all the annoying moments to the itch. I looked to the end - the last 10 episodes are already with a sense of quiet hatred, but obsessive-compulsive disorder simply did not give up.
The review is not negative only because of the plot, it worked on. Well done.
It is impossible to say that actors play badly either, they try. They play really well, although they play complete nonsense about emotions and dialogue in general.
I ask you to forgive all fans of Korean cinema, but this is a personal, very subjective opinion. Maybe she's just used to another kinoo.
A multidimensional, deep and excitingly beautiful film of 2011
I watched the series with great pleasure. Film without computer editing faces. How amazing the actors are. Beautiful musical accompaniment. And the way Lee Min Ho moves in combat episodes in this film is a separate story. Very beautifully shot. Once I was lucky to see with my own eyes the struggle of two masters of martial arts. Now, this struggle was like a dance, very beautiful and dangerous. So precise, light and strong were the movements. I've never done that again. And then I suddenly saw something similar in the episodes with Lee Min Ho. How they managed to cut this feature and bring it to the cinema. Well done. I really liked that the main character is not infallibility itself, but an ordinary person. He has feelings, he gets hurt, he gets angry and happy, trying to become happy. The way Lee Min Ho plays is hard to describe. It is such harmony and diversity of human experiences.
Only the eyes so conveys the state that the spirit captures. He set such a bar with his play that the entire cast is visibly striving to achieve the same level of play. The love line is amazing. There are no explicit scenes, but they are not necessary, and the emotions are so intense. The film is very rich in emotional component. If you want bloody scenes, violence and carnage, it's definitely not the right place. The creators of this film protect the viewer and respect him. There are a lot of things about relationships between people. Thank you for that. Thank you very much for the bright and kind feeling I have after watching. I will definitely watch more than once. I recommend watching the movie.
Mischievous wallpaper, accuracy and agility are chic, although I think with such a father and I would do the same. . . I was afraid of them when he fell in love. It is really dangerous for such people to do this, and my father warned me, I am afraid of what they will suffer from it. Episode 7-8, Get Nervous for Min Ho In Episode 9, I was so sorry for Nah, I almost cried. . . The film reminds me of Heeler. I wouldn’t want anyone to have to say that to protect them. . . . Wild, sorry for them... Poor main characters... how hard and difficult everything is. So loving. . . Spoiler. Father freak-- just used Lee Yoon Seong. Respect the prosecutor...and it's pathetic, to tears. . .
Before City Hunter, I wasn’t a fan of Lee Min Ho, and I was a long time old romantic. Interested in the high rating of the drama and a good cast: Kim Sang Joon and Kim Sang Ho always play great.
In the end, I really liked it! Literally everything was happy. First of all, the fact that the series turned out to be very deep, with morality and meaning, it makes you think about a serious life dilemma - is revenge for the sake of a noble idea good? Which is easier, revenge or forgiveness? Is it possible to forgive the enemy?
After the last series, they did not let go of thoughts about what they saw for a long time. The authors made the series very human.
Characters are bright, with well-written characters.
Kim Sang Joon with his unflappable facial expressions once again showed that he is an excellent actor who creates strong and unforgettable images on the screen. Although his character is very ambiguous, but thanks to the play of Kim Sang Joon, I was able to understand the revenge-obsessed, skillful manipulator Lee Jin Pyo.
Kim Sang Ho, as usual, brought humor to the series, sometimes absurd (which is why I love Korean cinema). When things got too serious, the appearance of Uncle 39, obsessed with sales and online shopping, always defused the situation.
The real discovery for me is actor Lee Joon Hyuk, who played prosecutor Kim Yoon Joo. What character, what strength! Very bright character and brilliant performance.
In my opinion, women in Korean TV shows are always on the 25th plane, as male characters overshadow them, and women get the role of obedient fools. In City Hunter, the female characters are good, everyone - and the main character Kim Na Na Na, and her pretty partner Shin Yoon A, and the beautiful veterinarian Hwang Soon Hee. Only the daughter of the president, a completely empty-headed character, irritated.
All assholes are really assholes. All the good characters are very cute.
I really liked that there are many characters, everyone has their own story, everyone has their own destiny.
At some stage, the series caused just a child's delight, as in the fourth grade, when I watched the film ' Zorro' and read 'The Count of Monte Cristo'.
Thank you very much for the soundtrack. He's amazing. All songs have taken their place in my player.
This drama should not be compared with serious series like 'Signal' or 'Undercover', it is still more adventure, with a romanticized image of the main character. However, the authors managed to make this tale profound and wise.
What about Lee Min Ho, you ask? Of course he's charming. Coped with the role, revealed emotions, made you worry and compassion. I don’t see anyone else in this role. But here is a claim to costume artists. The costumes of the hero Lee Min Ho are completely ridiculous. Especially the countless deep-colleted T-shirts in which he goes to work in the Presidential Administration and even to official receptions (but wears a strict shirt at home). It is impossible to imagine anyone working in a Korean state institution like this. But these are small things.
Oh. I just don’t have words to describe my feelings right now. I am happy and sad, I am terrified and delighted. I smile and cry. This is an incredible, sensual, soulful and instructive story that will not leave your soul alone for a long time. That's right. Not soon.
The director and screenwriter gave everything one hundred percent, creating this drama. Shooting, watching which it seems that a little more, and you will be on the other side of the screen. A script that makes you hold your breath and watch without stopping is so interesting. Music chosen so well that you sit, and feel all the moments more clearly, cutting to the bones, to the trembling in your hands.
Let's go through the heroes. They are opened so that I felt all the emotions, all the feelings that they wanted to convey to us. Even minor heroes, with whom you are just as happy, cry and laugh, as with the main ones.
Lee Yoon Seong. God, what a multifaceted character that is! Charismatic, kind, noble, always comes to the aid of suffering people. At the same time, he is sarcastic and quite self-confident. You know, the thing that really fascinated me about him was the understanding between blind hatred that covers my eyes and cold thoughtful revenge. He sees a line that should never be crossed, otherwise there will be no turning back. Death will bring nothing but pain, despair and continued revenge, which will continue to destroy people’s lives. This guy is smart, selfless, and he's been so battered by life. The character captivated me when he saved a complete stranger in the first series. A guy with a contagious smile who gave the bandit an apple over the head. It was incredibly cute and funny.
Lee Min Ho's game is just woo! He plays with his eyes! You don’t have to say anything, just look into your eyes. They have so many emotions, so many words! It's like you're really looking into your soul. I suffered with him when his character was in pain. Beautifully played by Lee Yong Song... An amazing actor. The best (yes, I am a big fan of Lee Min Ho xx)
Lee Jin Pe. A very controversial character, so controversial that throughout the drama, I hated him, admired him, and regretted him. He's the exact opposite of Yoon Song. For him, revenge is the meaning of his life. And revenge, in his mind, is death. No matter what methods he uses, no matter how many innocent people die, the main thing for him is to carry out his revenge. Gene Pe is mired in hatred, so mired that he simply cannot get out on his own. He understands it, but he goes deeper and deeper. Sooner or later, it will suffocate.
No matter how this character pushes Yoon Seong away from himself, no matter how he tries to focus even more on revenge, it is clear that his son is more precious to him than anyone else in the world. Which is what he shows at the end.
The romantic line between the main characters develops slowly, gradually. You see their first glances in love, you see that right now they know they love. The feelings between them seem real, strong. Yoon Song and Na Na Na have repeatedly proved this, defending each other.
All the actors played well, you believe them. Their characters are very real and lively.
I can talk for hours about the benefits of this drama. Unfortunately, there is a minus. One. It's that the end was leaked a little. It feels like the director of the sixteenth series suddenly remembered that only four episodes remained until the end and it was time to wrap up. Because of what the experiences began to flash like crazy, you do not have time to recover from some, as they are immediately replaced by others, no less shocking.
Bottom line: despite this, the City Hunter I advise everyone to watch. This is the story that will not leave anyone indifferent and will punch you hard on emotions!

Strong, sensual, with a soul, and also insanely touching. It is these thoughts that have haunted and still haunt me while watching this magnificent drama. 'City Hunter' was the first Korean film I ever saw. I started watching with a clearly upbeat mood and thoughts: 'Well, why does everyone love these Koreans so much?' If I hadn’t, I would have made a huge mistake in my life.
The very first series amazes with its quality and intensity of passions. From the very beginning, you can not sit still because of the question: ' What will happen next?' and a little later tears begin to appear. The story isn’t trivial, you never know what’s going to happen in the next moment, and it forces you to look ahead, series by series. Later, humor appears, and there is already a storm of emotions not far away - then you want to cry, then you can not restrain laughter, then nerves make themselves felt.
You cannot name a certain genre of this picture. You just can't. Here you and the action movie, most of the scenes of which were performed by the magnificent Lee Min Ho, and the detective, over which you want to puzzle for days. And also melodrama with comedy - do not miss. And, probably, this is due to the chic cast and such sensual heroes.
Lee Yoon Seong is the first actor I fell in love with. Yes, I watched for a long time, sometimes amazed at his rudeness, but after the legendary City Hunter opened up from the chic side. This guy has an incredibly difficult fate - his whole life is not what it should have been originally. And the desire to dare is justified by a truly sad story. He is delighted with his simple phrases and desire to joke in the most difficult moments. That mischievous look, that concentration, that's how I love Lee Yoon Sona. The hero Lee Min Ho brings only good to people, because he is no one but the legendary Hunter. It hurts everyone, including him. A huge plus for such a gorgeous character.
Kim Na Na Na is the first main character who did not cause irritation in me. Minimum tears, maximum action. If I had the same fate as her, I would break down. And she -- she's not. And yet the girl remains just as naive, light and madly smiling. It immediately becomes clear why she attracted the attention of the main character.
Na spins like a squirrel in a wheel, and sometimes I truly feel sorry for her. She doesn't deserve the suffering she has. But it's not all bad - there are pleasant moments too.
Kim Yong Joo is the same legend as Lee Yoon Seong. A charming prosecutor I watched from the beginning to the end. Not the slightest step inferior to the Hunter. On the contrary, in some ways it is similar to him, and in others it is the complete opposite. I will never forget the duo of the prosecutor and Yoon Seong – I am probably one of the few who watched them so closely, frantically worried. I have had waterfalls of tears while watching many of the stories about Kim Yong Joo, particularly the last one. Sometimes I think the director did something wrong. The storm of emotions and the huge bitterness that remained after watching stayed with me forever. I will only say that I have never seen a more interesting character while watching the dramas. I saw it. And absolutely disagree with those who consider the prosecutor the same type and boring hero.
A huge role was played by the soundtrack. I’ve never seen this kind of music in any TV series I’ve ever watched. Almost the whole family now has on the ring such a legendary melody 'Sad run', and all the rest do not subside from morning to evening: D Heartbreaking, naive, sad and incredibly dynamic songs are constantly playing in 'City Hunter'.
The entire cast coped perfectly, and the fight scenes are a separate topic. Although... I’m not surprised – Lee Min Ho couldn’t fail such moments, because he gave his best. Also, the series is not stingy and dramatic moments - they are full, and they are shown in all their glory. That's great.
The secondary characters are charming, the story forever remains in the hearts, and the bitterness that appears in the soul after the finale makes you think. The happiest people are those who have never played this drama. What a miracle they can experience when they watch it for the first time. This is the first time it is the most special.
And perhaps it was 'City Hunter' that taught me to walk through life. This divine drama, beloved by Lee Yoon Song and Kim Yong Joo, the charming Kim Na Na Na and many others.

Never be afraid of shadows. It means there is a light somewhere nearby.
1) Forget who you are. 2) Don't trust anyone. (3) Don't fall in love with anyone...
I’m probably one of the few people who started watching not because of Lee Min Ho in the lead roles. I have never seen the work of this actor before.
As for the series, I realized that I was in vain for quite a long time bypassed it. The really stated number of genres is frightening at first. But after the first series, it is clear how masterfully all these genres are combined. I was very pleased with the way the fights were removed. On the one hand, it looks very realistic, but it is no less fascinating.
I was pleased with the methods of the urban hunter. He did not want to kill and go through life with the weight of guilt for the broken families. He wanted this blood feud to end.
- You had the perfect opportunity, why didn't you kill him?
“Because I didn’t want to create another one of myself!”
Lee Min Ho is really an amazing actor with no less amazing charisma and no less bright appearance. Very unusual, but very bright appearance. Very well he played a guy who just wants to be like everyone else, but it was too late to change anything. He has already grown a murder machine.
I also liked actress Park Min-yeon. Very beautiful girl, beautiful, not cute. He played well, too.
And the actor, who played Lee Jin Pe, immediately shows that he is a professional. In his eyes full of anger and desire for revenge, you can see very deeply hidden sadness, pain and loneliness.
All the actors play very well here. This is not my first or even my fifth drama, and I know that they have this habit in Korean, instead of showing something with their eyes, they start puffing up their cheeks and protruding their lips, here everything is very well conveyed by their eyes. To be honest, I was shocked.
However, no matter how beautifully the fights were staged, no matter how interesting the methods of Yoon Song in terms of revenge, no matter how well the actors played, I doubt that I would look at at at least half of the romantic line. And this line is perfectly set. All the humor in the series is mainly due to their relationship, especially in the beginning.
- Why are you going to a girl’s house?
- What girl? You just know how to throw me over your shoulder!
Kim Na Na was to Yoon Seong someone he could be real to, not pretending to be. And the third point he still violated:
I never thought I could fall in love with anyone.
However, the decline in heat after the 15 series began to strain a little. But finally I finished the last two series and the ending. And I probably would have shot 3 or 4 points for this, but I still remember what this drama did to me in the beginning.
I’ve never seen this before when watching a series. To begin with, the drama usually drags at least 2 episodes. Here, from the 1st series, from the first minutes, it is already pathetic for soldiers loyal to their homeland. And when Yoon Seong succeeded in deceiving his father, I was sitting and pointing my tongue at his father and saying, ‘Four fists!’ Also this is the rare case when the tears of the characters, no matter the main or secondary, caused sympathy, and not the desire to rewind.
It was as if all the characters were alive and close to me. For the flurry of emotions received while watching the first 15 episodes. For Lee Yoon Seong, Kim Na Na, Ajossi, ajumonni, the righteous but not seductive prosecutor, Se Hee, who pulled out bullets for them all, for Da Hye the cute "babe," so called her Yoon Seong, for Lee Jin Pe and many other characters. For the chance to live with them, I can not put lower than br/

P.S. I used to have a series in the first place. You're beautiful" of Korean descent, now he's thundered" by the City Hunter." I wonder if there’s another show that will impress me more than this one.
P.P.S. In situations where the law was powerless, the city hunter came to the rescue.
'City Hunter' is the case when I had to be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the picture, staging stunts and acting. I began to watch it, however, like many, on the wave of acquaintance with the work of Lee Min Ho, and against the background of tearful melodramas, this drama was absolutely unexpected and very exciting.
In my opinion, it is a competent mix of action and romance, drama and comedy. And the music is good. The plot is unusual and keeps in suspense until the end, which, by the way, somewhat disappointed me, although it did not spoil the overall impression of viewing. But of course, the lion’s share of success belongs to the main character, Lee Yoon Song or Puchai, as he was called in childhood.
In general, Lee Min Ho succeeded in this role, and showing the whole range of emotions of the hero, he once again proved that the actor is good. Lee Yoon Song is a very controversial character, then a cheerful and cheerful kid, slipping suddenly as a reminder of life in the jungle and friendship with elephants, then a purposeful, calculating, cold avenger, which he had to become under the yoke of his father, then a selfish and arrogant womanizer and scum, an image that he uses as a mask for others, then he is a hero. I think he is real only with those close to him (Kim Nana, Ajosi’s uncle, his new-found mother), who are taken care of at the cost of his own life, and when anger boils in him at the injustice that reigns around him, because it is the fight against it, not revenge, that ultimately came to the fore. Although his maximalist ideas of good and evil look a little naive and strained, but perhaps the Russian viewer does not understand the Korean ideas of morality.
Kim Na Na is as simple as a boot. Kind, naive, loving, however, she is not very different in mind - well, how can you not recognize the stupid hairstyle, bright hair color, sharpened, typically Asian figure and designer outfits of Lee Yun Seong, even if he wore a mask in the half of his face? But her devotion and faith in a loved one admire. But in the role of bodyguard she does not look at all - how to take seriously these plump cheeks?
One of Lee Yoon Seong’s fathers, the man who raised him, Lee Joon Pe, is an incredibly violent character. It can be understood as a desire to avenge the lives of comrades and for oneself personally, but kidnapping a child only for the purpose of turning into an instrument of especially perverted revenge on the main culprit of the tragedy is an act, at least selfish. Honestly, I don't understand how Puchai was able to grow up so optimistic and caring with his upbringing. Of course, we are told that he was raised by a woman who lived there, but he grew up among drug dealers and murderers. Well, that's not the point.
I don't want to talk about prosecutor Kim Yong-ju. Yes, a fighter against justice, a lawyer, a principled type who ran around the whole movie looking for the truth. Well, it's very boring, and his love line isn't particularly expressive either. But such a character should be in opposition to the urban hunter.
As a result, the drama turned out to be interesting from all sides. I'm sure I'll revisit it sometime. And for those who have not yet watched, I recommend to familiarize yourself, if only because such dramas are infrequent.

When tired of snotty melodramas, meaningless action films and comedies with vulgar humor, there is a desire to see something universal, including all three genres, but qualitatively made and without obvious plot drawbacks. The brightest representatives of the universal series became 'City Hunter'.
The story tells us about a crime committed by the South Korean government against its soldiers. It was forbidden to talk about this betrayal, it was impossible to remember, but there was one man who grew in his soul year after year revenge on the state for his friends. His method is murder. He also prepares his son for revenge, Lee Yoon Song specially from birth prepared for revenge, for this he also had reasons. However, he never imagined that he would be a pawn in a big game. Lee Yoon Song becomes the City Hunter, his method is complete destruction.
A few words about the diversity of . Since we started with an action movie, the eyes were happy with high-quality action. Not being a fan of oriental martial arts, it would usually end up rewinding all fights and chases. In 'City Hunter' I watched every fist clarification of the relationship from beginning to end. If we talk about comedy, then the relationship of the main character with Ajossi and at the beginning of the series with the main character Kim Na Humor in the series is not so much, but his presence only attracts attention. A touching melodrama develops between Lee Yoon Song and Kim Na Na Na, and they cannot be together, and they cannot live separately. Not without dramatic notes, the relationship of the protagonist with his father and mother, the understanding that he cannot have simple human happiness, looks very sad.
Lee Yoon Seong is a kind of strange person. In Thailand, he is simple and friendly, does not mean harm to anyone, and only chance makes him change. In the US, he becomes a cool playboy and at the same time a doctor of science at MIT. In South Korea, he becomes a justice fighter, the City Hunter. So who is the real Lee Yoon Seong? All three personalities come out at certain times and situations, but if you look closely, it's more dominated by the boy in the Golden Triangle, the elephant friend. Again, or again, surprised Lee Min Ho, moving away from comedy roles, he decided to try himself in action movies. Yes, maybe ' flower boy' jumped out in moments of necessary curvatures, but 99% was Lee Yoon Song.
As a representative of the fairer sex, I was still more interested in the relationship of the protagonist with Kim Na Na. It often seems that all the main characters of Korean dramas are the same, dull in crucial moments, weep about and without. Kim Na Na Na is not such, she is brave and brave, which is not rarely discussed in the series itself. The incident made her spin through life at the speed of a collider, a lot of part-time jobs, debts, hospital bills. And here it is ' quite by accident' she meets Lee Yoon Song... It is a pity that their story was not logically completed, everything was crumpled up. Park Min-yeon liked thanks to her heroine, I hope her other roles are not inferior to Kim Na Na.
The series would have lost all its charm if it did not have a prosecutor. In general, when it comes to prosecutors, there are uncles over forty years old, with authority in the front and baldness. Kim Yong-jo, it's quite amazing at this age, and it's a prosecutor, not like that. He's honest and fair, just like the City Hunter, only playing by the rules of the law. Lee Joon Hyuk as a prosecutor was very convincing.
The first 15 episodes are held in one breath, intrigue remains, the first three villains are quickly promoted. But the last 5 episodes... They're just awful. The love of the main characters came to naught, long and meaningless conversations about politics, corruption, revenge came to the fore. There is nothing intelligible even in the last series. If there was not enough time, it was possible to extend the series, and not to force the viewer to think up everything himself. But still, it is the favorite of the first 15 series that I will give the highest rating, because they were almost flawless.
The idea is not new, there are many such heroes in the cinema, but ... there is one big thing. In the same series 'Arrow', the hero kills many negative heroes, criminals, here Lee Yoon Song tries to solve everything in a different way. Digging up evidence of criminal activity and destroying the power of people living at the expense of the lives and suffering of the people.
Despite the upbringing of an embittered man whose heart became no less cruel than those who sent a squad of soldiers of 21 to be shot, Lee Jin Pyo managed to raise a wonderful man, a son.
Li Min Ho - his role in this film is as successful as in all the previous ones I have seen (Gu Jun Pyo in ' Boys are more beautiful than flowers' and Choi Yong in ' Faith'). His character can not but like, he almost from the very first shots appears to be a person who is ready to save people's lives, not knowing the reason why they want to kill them, etc. He does not do anything for the sake of revenge, he is ready to give up his business for the sake of saving the people he loves. Yoon Son knows how to distinguish between good and evil, although in this situation the boundaries are blurred.
Pak Min Young is her second role to me. But if in 'Scandal from Songyungwan' I constantly have doubts: how can you not see a girl, and even pretty in the guy Kim Yun Sike, then in 'City Hunter' we have an attractive girl Kim Nana, and even strong. Fate did not give her a chance to be weak. There is little doubt about her willingness to become a bodyguard. Why is she willing to protect someone at the cost of her life? Why would you not hesitate to shoot an urban hunter, knowing that he is uncovering the machinations and corruption of these people?
Throughout most of the series, I never left the feeling that I love and hate his character Kim Yong Jo. Excessively ambitious, sometimes just do not understand the reasons that prompted the city hunter, after all, they could be good friends, and there is something in common with Lee Yoon Song, almost elusive. So I'm sorry at the end of this hero.
Kim Sang Joon - and his Lee Jin Pyo - the most treacherous hero, he is fierce revenge, he does not care how many people die or suffer, he is ready to do anything for this revenge, but at the same time cripples the life of his son, although he loves him. It seems that this man died 27 years ago, when his comrades and friends were killed and only retribution keeps him in this world.
All the actors who play negative characters coped very well with the roles, which sometimes was disgust for them.
The only downside was that the first series is the most boring of all in the series. Personally, I even wanted to turn off, but as the events of 1983 end, it becomes interesting, interest gradually increases.
The series finale is a bit blurred... The blurring of time and space, there is no completeness in the love line (kissing or passionate scene, talking, etc.), although it is obvious who and with whom.
It is not clear where the mercenary of one of the negative characters went, just took and forgot about this moment. Or is it just for me?
In this drama, for me personally, there were no moments from which tears come to my eyes, strong tension, so I lowered the score by 1 point.

Oh, those Korean dramas! Just watch one of them and you can’t be stopped! The secret of their success is that we, accustomed to Hollywood sequels, multi-season TV series and Brazilian long soap operas, do not want to stop in time. But Korea is forcing us to accept their rules of the game. 20-25 episodes and goodbye! And here's your insatiable imagination again in search of dramas with beloved actors. . .
So, once watching the drama Vera with Lee Min Ho, I decided to study the entire track record of the adored actor. Since Vera was his last work at the time, I went in reverse order. The second in my movie list was just this series City Hunter. Honestly, even if the film was so, I would still swallow it, just to look at my favorite eyes and bangs. But to my unspeakable joy, the picture pleased me to the same extent as the previous one, if not more, despite their enormous difference in plot and even genre. Both are about love. In both, Lee Min Ho is a patriot with good self-defense skills. That's all the similarities.
The City Hunter is an old beloved tale about Batman in the Korean way. Only here without technical progress (batmobiles there are all sorts). Pure worship of magnificent fighting techniques and incredible human capabilities. Naturally, with a good ending. I am glad that this series is replete with different images, and not reduced to one villain, one hero and his girlfriend, as it often happens. The figures of negative characters are ambiguous (it is a pity that the characters overlap in many ways). You can't call them negative. What makes the spiritual quest of the protagonist even more exciting: doubts about the correctness of actions, diversity in solutions to situations. In addition to negative characters, positive assistant characters are also happy. There are many of them and they bring a pleasant variety and humor. I would especially like to highlight the actor June Hyuk Lee, whose role was played flawlessly. A distinctive feature of the series against the background of modern cinema (as, in principle, and many other dramas) is its purity and purity. Chaste kisses (there were only two of them), the lack of dismemberment (even blood appears only in a couple of episodes) and the support of absolute human values (love for parents, for the homeland, respect for the law, protection of their loved ones, self-sacrifice) - in my opinion, highlighting such aspects is more relevant than ever.
To sum it up, I really liked the series. And I am truly sorry that Korean cinema does not deserve enough attention in our country. Maybe someday. . .
I walked around and around this drama and did not dare to see it... because of Lee Min Ho, because I did not like him in “Boys...”, but the positive reviews still influenced my subconscious. I don’t like the first one, I don’t like the second one. I think I’ll look at it anyway, at least to write a review.
And now I am sitting here and do not know what my review will be positive, negative, neutral? In general, the impression of the drama left me like after pumpkin porridge. Just as a child, I was told that pumpkin porridge is very tasty, and I asked my grandmother to make it, and it was necessary to make a lot of efforts for this, first, the pumpkin had to be brought from the garden, cut it, and this porridge was cooked, and no one wanted it except me, and my grandmother did all this for me, so they imposed a whole boiling and said “I wanted to eat!!!” I try and understand that I did not eat such a nasty porridge in my life, but I was forced to eat everything. . .
So this is what I mean by the fact that the efforts are visible in some places, and I want to appreciate them, but they just did not give me any pleasure at all. All in order!
Pluses. A rather unusual plot for a drama is political. Corrupt officials, state secrets, drugs, guns, allusions to bed scenes, etc. The main character was not annoyed. She looked human, dressed normally, walked, talked, even her hair was normal. Adequacy in the expression of characters' emotions, facial expressions, gestures. + Prosecutor, + Assistant Chairman.
Minuses. They were underweight in everything. If we had already taken the political side, then we should have taken it more seriously. Yes, in general, there are so many disadvantages and shortcomings that there is not enough for a review and the pros will not cover them. And all these flaws began for me from the moment I saw the main character at the airport of Korea in pink narrow shortened trousers at the end of the first series ... I knew then that the direction was wrong.
It would be better if it was a movie, or a series with fewer episodes, where the main role would be assigned not to the character Min Ho, but to his guardian-drug dealer. I think that this actor would have conveyed everything that is needed in those moments in which it is necessary, the actor who played the assistant chairman was still well suited for political action, and all this line with the guards, the daughter of the president and in general with romance should have been removed altogether.
Conclusion, a non-trivial drama in which many genres were tried to mix, but in the end none turned out, there was no comedy, romance did not touch, the drama did not hook, they did not reach the action. I barely checked. The first 10 episodes made you look at yourself completely, the next 9 watched only the main moments, scenes like “go away ... no I will stay”, “stay ... no, I will leave”, “kill them ... I will not kill”, etc. flipped through and compressed the hour-long series to 20 minutes, the last series also fully watched, but again ate-eat... No ending at all. It can only be perceived if they think about the second season.

On the Internet you can find a lot of positive reviews about this drama. I don't share the excitement. I think "City Hunter" is a very mediocre piece. The film is stated in several genres: action movie, detective, melodrama, comedy. Too many goals and too little results. For an action movie there is too little action, for a detective - boring, for melodrama there is not enough romance, as comedy - not funny, at best - cute. In general, the topic of the fight against corruption to us Russians is so close and understandable that the view of the Koreans seems naive, but just stupid, does not touch.
I suppose that the good reviews of “City Hunter” earned thanks to Lee Min Ho. I have to admit that I started watching this series out of interest in the actor. Alas, to perceive his game interfered with his ridiculous image. It's got to ruin a pretty guy's appearance. I don't understand Korean fashion for men's haircuts. In our childhood, such haircuts were called “pot”. Some of them are suitable, but not many, and Lee Min Ho is not one of them. The proportions of the face are broken, the eye is not visible, a huge nose looks out from under the bangs.
If you have free time and love Lee Min-ho, then watch “City Hunter”.

The modern phenomenon of cinema can be safely compared with the restaurant business. Where each of the restaurants has its own crown dish and it becomes the crown feature of a certain institution. That is why for many Hollywood is associated with super spectacular blockbusters, Russian cinema with serials about cops, and Korean cinema is entirely with various dramas. But this drama turned out to be so high quality and in a certain sense original that its popularity has developed beyond its native expanses. So, it is not surprising that this drama spawned no less popular fan club of the lead actor than the fan club of Mario Casas after the dilogy “Three meters above the level of the sky”. Is this series really that good? Definitely yes.
I rarely watch TV shows and try to avoid them because of how much time they take to watch. Which I'm always in trouble with. Sometimes the dramas themselves seem a bit absurd. In this creation, the director Gin Hyuka the whole thing is largely saved by the element of entertainment, from which sometimes frankly blows Hollywood. However, the series is packed with various chases, explosions, destruction, shootings and even masterfully staged hand-to-hand combat that look in one breath. Largely due to the rapid, the camera turns 180 and 360 degrees, the layer of motion elements and other techniques of John Wu, which make the action scene even cooler. And the very staging of battles is impressive with the maximum emphasis on realism and entertainment. Which is reflected in the best traditions of the franchise “Borna”.
Otherwise, the series surprisingly easily jumps from the genre of action to comedy, from the genre of comedy to melodrama and so on in a circle. At the same time, the emotional emphasis is ideally shifted to each phenomenon of the genre and this does not affect the quality of the project in a negative way. After all, most often the abundance of genres in the project breaks it from the inside. At the same time, the element of comedy looks with a sincere smile on his face, the element of the action movie with a jaw wide open, and the element of melodrama is like a hot knife cutting cold oil. Surprisingly, the atmospheric series is simply stuffed with various emotions that are heated to the limit. Which, combined with the rather tense dynamics of the project, makes you look at each new scene so greedily that it becomes simply impossible to break away for sleep, meal or other affairs.
I am not familiar with the original manga Tsukaso Hoxha. So, I cannot assess the quality of the adaptation of the story. I can only say that the plot is very tight and interesting. After all, at first glance, the series is another drama about love. And given how difficult the main characters have relationships and how many times over 20 episodes they diverge and converge again, there is definitely something to look at. Especially romantic men and women, who may be in the actions of the main characters will notice something of their own. And in general, the creators managed to create such a beautiful, pleasant and perfect couple that I willingly empathized with the fate of their relationship and rejoiced like a child when everything was getting better.
Not every film or series manages to elicit such empathy from me, but the creators managed to do this and for me personally this is an indicator of quality. And visually a couple of actors turned out to be very organic and beautiful. Otherwise, the plot develops very famously and in the best traditions of full-length blockbusters. This is accompanied by various spy elements, government themes, revenge and other elements without which no decent action film with a political background can do. What pleases here is that the series is able to keep its main intrigue until the end of the 20th series.
From here, with each new series, the series becomes even more dynamic, tense and interesting. Moreover, the creators were able to make this series quite important meaning, which has educational potential not only for the young viewer, but also for the older generation. The instructive side of the project is that it promotes good. So we don't just look at her, we try to walk with her for a lifetime. After all, it is no secret that it is now easier to live stepping on other people’s heads and so on. Which is also true in principle. That’s just the focus of the series is shifted to such concepts as justice, which is less and less common.
The performer of the main role Li Min Ho, although he was known before, but definitely this role made him insanely popular for everyone. Not surprisingly, last year he was named the most popular Korean actor in the former Soviet Union. Li Min Ho A very charismatic guy with a bright appearance. And not deprived of acting talent. The character he got very difficult and he adequately played it all 20 episodes. It is simply impossible to find fault with his game. It’s no wonder he’s been given a lot of awards for his performance.
No less excellent and Pak Min Young. She played so naturally that she sometimes felt like she was playing real in life. And the girl is insanely attractive. Actually, as did Hwang Son-hy and Gu Ha Ra, who constantly delighted their eyes with their attractive appearances. Lee Jun Hyuk played just fine. He managed to create a real ideal of justice and is so natural that he becomes madly sorry for his character’s tragic fate. Kim Sun Jung just brilliantly played the main antagonist of the tape. With one expression of his face he spoke so much that one could even do without words for complete persuasiveness. No less good and Jung Ho-jin with Kim Sang Ho, who in the company with other actors played their roles no less magnificent.
The music of the composer of the series turned out to be very dynamic, spectacular, enthusiastic and quite heroic. Much like John Powell’s work for Payback Hour and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. And Hans Zimmer’s “Rock” is similar in places. Only with no military sound and less dynamism. The composer perfectly managed to create both perfect action motifs and insanely beautiful romantic overtures. What brought to perfection such luxurious tracks as "It's Alright" by Yang Hwajin and Suddenly by Kim Bo Kyung, which stood out brighter than the rest of the soundtracks and just burned into my soul. As well as the main theme of the series.

Very dynamic, tense, exciting, romantic, beautiful and instructive drama, which is a pleasure to watch. I am very impressed and I highly recommend watching it for you. Because it's worth it.
To begin with, I am a manga fan. Having almost ten years of experience in fascination with Asian, and first of all, Japanese culture, I managed to imbue myself with all the layers of this phenomenon, even reaching Korea. Manga in my top is higher than drama, which in turn is higher than anime.
So, postponing 'City Hunter', which received decent ratings from the audience, I was preparing to see another fictional crumpled adaptation of the manga, from which it will turn and muddle. Recalling her sad experience with watching 'Hana yori dango', 'Devil beside you' and 'HanaKimi' honestly, she wasn't preparing for anything good. But in fact, despite all its shortcomings, this film adaptation I was very pleased.
It’s hard to write a review on something you like, it’s much easier to find a bunch of flaws. One thing I want to say first. This drama should not be perceived as a real story, you should not look for illogicalities in the plot, try to understand the motives of the heroes’ actions. It should be seen simply as a bright colorful carnival, where some faces replace others, leaving behind a sweet aftertaste with a sign ' like'. Push (albeit with flaws) into 20 episodes of the series of events of the 35-volume manga, while not creating the impression of terrible porridge - this is the undoubted merit of the director.
The drama is delicious! At least because the actors managed to play artificial and completely unrealistic situations in such a way that it looks adequate, beautiful and... tasty. Oh, yeah! This is how I can describe Lee Min Ho as Lee Yoon Seong. Charming, stylish, cool, at the same time gentle. This is the first actor I like to have a body. And ankles. Ahha! At first, naked legs in sneakers surprised, then they attracted attention in shoes, and by the end of the series I was already looking for these glimpses of naked nature. Who would have thought that bare feet in shoes could look so erotic?
What are we talking about? Drama, yes! Well, he played well, so what's up there? Absolutely unreal scenes of battle kept in tone, perhaps just because of their unreality, because most often I begin to fall asleep on such scenes. By the middle of the series, the experiences reached their peak, and I was wondering in my heart what else the writers could give us.
Initially, there was supposed to be an exalted stream of thoughts, but the director apparently did not want the viewer to admire his work all 20 episodes, so he decided to add a juicy spoon of tar to the delicious. Since the 15th episode, I’ve been catching myself thinking that all the virtues that were initially celebrated in the drama (a dynamic plot, adequate transmission of political and economic problems, a beautiful acting) have come to naught, sliding into what I most dislike – overplay, platitudes, epic scenes that look great in manga, but completely stupid in live action. Apparently, the director had very little time (or money?) to bring all the storylines together, so it was completely impossible to convey the emotions where it was necessary. At some points I wanted to shout ' Where are you going, gentlemen'?
That's why I couldn't get a feel for the very important scenes involving the prosecutor and the final epic battle in the conference room. That's not where the director emphasized, oh, not there! Incomprehensible to me were the last turns in the love line - some unnecessary epic breakups, tears-snot. I don't believe it! Why it was necessary to spoil the overall impression of the picture, I do not know. The scenes with the mother were very touching. By letting them through, I could truly feel the pain of this woman. In general, for the first 15 episodes, I would bet 10, and for the remaining ones - ehmm. Little girl.
I was totally lacking in romance! It all started so beautifully, evolved, we saw him, kissed him, and then... I thought they'd at least end up drowning in each other's arms. The finale finished me off, making me sit with my mouth open and rewind over and over in the hope of discovering something I missed. No, nothing came up. It would be the worst ending I've ever seen.
But the advantages outweigh all the disadvantages. I forgot to mention that the drama has a great soundtrack! Part of the compositions settled in my playlist for a long time.
On actors:
Lee Min Ho, no comment. Charming and cute, immediately sunk into the soul. I may even dare to watch the hated 'Flowers' although I do not imagine him as Domyoji.
Park Min-yeon fits in perfectly. But again, I liked her brisk character and life-affirming power in the first part of the series more than some thoughtless dedication in the second. Beautiful! You don’t see it often in Korean dramas.
So touching in the series, he captivated me with his speech and sponge protrusion. When I ran through the actors, I was surprised to find that he played a stunt balagour with mustaches from 'Secret garden'. Amazing survival in diametrically opposite images! I will definitely be following this actor.
And the last colorful character, in my opinion, is a senator's bodyguard with a crooked smile. Angry, but so cute.
Ooh! I forgot about Uncle Yoon Seong. He constantly reminded me of Evgeny Leonov in 'Striped flight'.
Like a resume.
Initially I thought that this series could displace my favorite dramas, but the miracle did not happen. The top 3 lines of the personal top remained unchanged, while ' Urban Hunter' took an honorable place in the list of definitely recommended for viewing.

In fact, it's probably the best film adaptation of a manga I haven't read. It is a pity that the drawing is so terrible, otherwise 35 volumes would not have stopped.
“The City Hunter” is one of the most powerful dramas I have seen to date.
What did you like?
1. High-quality shooting, well-thought-out images of heroes.
2. Choosing actors for leading roles. I saw Lee Min-ho for the first time, I only knew him from pictures and he didn’t impress me at all. Too cute, licked, in general "idol" in the full sense of the word. I liked it here. This is his role, definitely.
And the main luck is a girl in the role of Kim Na Na Imho, the main scourge of Korean TV series (and in general Asian) – expressionless girls. And it's not just about looks. Characters are often written very carelessly. And here's a full hit. The girl is very nice in appearance and very pleasant in behavior. Looking at her, I want to smile.
3. It is nice that the characters immediately realize their feelings and there are no rushes of the type: I love, I do not love, I still love and run from one to another.
4. Also remembered - the adoptive father of Lee Yong Song - a stunning charisma man and a funny assistant, obsessed with shopping in a TV store. Very nice.
And took note of the actress who played the wife of the prosecutor. Beautiful, I want to see her again.
What I didn't like:
1. Tightness. I don’t think it’s a big drawback – that’s what all Korean TV shows do. But my imho - without any damage to the plot, it was possible to put his series in 16.
2. Some of the twists and turns of the story.
3. Sometimes the scenes are a little childish. But again, this is almost the case in all dramas. For example, when one at once 20, but they attack strictly! in turn.
In general, the series is rated at
The very title of the series already says what will happen, there will be hunting and there will be victims. Even the hunter will change his hypostasis and become a victim for some time.
The general impression: is a very, very decent series. It combines several seemingly incompatible genres: comedy, drama, melodrama, action, detective and thriller. And all this in one bottle, with a tightly wrapped lid and very well mixed.
The quality of shooting and acting: filmed everything is just great! Some moments of shooting are higher in the quality of most feature films. Actors play great, reliably convey feelings and emotions, including supporting actors.
Script and drama: the scriptwriters did not pump up, skillfully diluting melodramatic drawn-up scenes with suspense, action or comic inserts, got rid of the length of the series. It is interesting to watch throughout it. Very well worked out secondary characters, there is almost no passage.
Music: is great! All musical themes are selected by 5 points.
Korean specificity: in Korean TV series there is a certain transfer on the screen of emotions and feelings of the characters, which is the difference, I can not say for sure, but the level of reliability of this cannot be compared with European, American and Russian analogues.
A couple of words about those heroes who are remembered:
Kim-Nana is a sweet, charming, naive, honest and responsible girl who got into difficult life situations. Yes, maybe the character is a little far-fetched. But just a little bit, a little bit.
Lee Jin Pyo is the father of the main character. This is the character you believe unconditionally. He may not like his cruelty and bloodlust, but nothing more! He has the right to revenge, he has the right to kill! He has his own truth and no one can judge him.
The killer with the oblique bangs is a secondary character. Murderer, bandit - a nasty type in one word. He says almost nothing in the film. But the way he looks, the way he moves, shows that this man is a hell of a danger. It looks like a wild cat that moves carefully tracking down its prey.
Verdict:Masterpiece! It's a must-see! The series is better than the one shot, with such a play of actors, a mixture of genres and excellent music, I just haven’t seen it before, and I think I won’t see it soon.

“Where the law is powerless, the City Hunter can do it.”
It was a very difficult film for me. I don’t like action movies, violence, death, but I watched this drama. I really liked it. The plot is good, exciting, interesting, original. The actors are perfectly selected for their roles, played convincingly, the main characters revealed the characters.
Lee Yoon Song is the main character. This is Min Ho's first serious role, and he handled it with a bang. To be honest, I felt sorry for his hero. The guy was twisted all his life, ruined fate. The boy grew up without a mother, almost knowing no affection, constantly looking at murder, violence and himself being subjected to insults and humiliation. They wanted to grow a murder machine out of him, ruthless and merciless. But it didn't work. Yoon Song grew up a humanist and pacifist. He rejects murder as a method of revenge, and understands that one crime directly entails a number of others. And how then to live with such a burden on the soul and elbow in someone else's blood? This is what the main character is thinking about. It is because of the way of revenge that Yoon Song has disagreements with his father (I will call him that, because the hero himself perceived Chin Pyo as his father), on this their paths diverge. Yoon Song wants revenge by legal means, and therefore fate brings him to the Prosecutor Kim Yong Joo.
Kim Yong Joo is a Seoul prosecutor who can also be considered one of the main characters of the drama along with Yoon Song, as he is present from the 2nd to 19th (inclusive) series of the film. I like this character the most (yes, even more than Yoon Song). I don't know why, I just liked his image, his actions, his behavior. If all prosecutors were like that, I think crime would be minimized. Yeon Joo is a true fighter for justice, a man obsessed with his work, enthusiastic, has an inquisitive mind, curiosity, used to bring the work started to the end; brave, brave, not afraid to touch even the top of power for the sake of truth. But the prosecutor was killed by the helplessness of the law in front of officials: everything is bribed, evidence of guilt is almost impossible to get, and if you dig a little deeper, you can lose your position. Coincidentally, both Yoon Sona and Yong Joo were interested in the same people for different reasons and different purposes. But it doesn't matter - the result is one. It would seem that the City Hunter for the prosecutor is just a gift of fate: he finds evidence and delivers the suspects directly to the prosecutor’s office. But it's not that simple. Yeon Joo starts hunting Yoon Seong. The prosecutor does the job, but he has his own reasons: curiosity. And Yeon Joo himself, on his own, guesses everything, he binds all the links in one chain. Despite the fact that Yoon Song and the prosecutor consider opponents, rivals, they develop respect for each other, understanding. They could be a good team, but alas! The prosecutor knew too much...I’m really angry with the directors for what happened to the prosecutor. It was such a blow to me, I couldn’t believe it for two days. It's a horror movie. If the purpose of the filmmakers is to shock the viewer, then they succeeded in this regard. Yeon Joo evokes my strongest sympathy as a person. He never for a moment forgot his duty to the law, to the country and helped Yoon Song a lot, but how much he paid for it.
Another character I wanted to focus on was the president. As I watched, his association with Nicholas II was established. The president is a man weighed down by his office; he entered politics to implement his educational and health reforms. He doesn’t need anything more from power. He has a family, a beloved daughter, a hobby. He is ready to suffer any punishment for his cowardice and sins. “Don’t dig a hole for someone else, you’ll fall into it yourself” – oh, how this proverb fits Yoon Seong. What did he achieve? He put the prosecutor in a terrible position (he had to arrest his own father), and now Yoon Song himself almost killed his own father and must put him in prison.
I didn't like the end of the movie. A lot of questions arise. Why is Kim Na Na with a suitcase and Yoon Sung without it? Where's Yoon Sung driving? What does that even mean? Does this mean that the hero will not abandon his cause and will continue to fight injustice?
There are several songs from music (I especially liked Kim Bo Kyung - Suddenly) and mostly instrumentals. I remember Hot Spade, Fire Flower, Sad Run.
Decide for yourself whether to watch this drama. If you are a fan of adventure action movie with a share of romanticism and mystery, then this film is especially for you.
My assessment of the film
I recently encountered such a phenomenon as a Korean TV series. This one was the third one I saw, and I didn't watch it because of the actors in it. Perhaps due to the fact that I carefully choose what to watch (reading reviews and reviews), all three previous ones did not leave me indifferent.
But this one was special. I decided to write about my impressions.
I can’t help but note that this is the only series that I consider worthy from all sides. If in others I could like individual artists, music, plot, then here I liked everything!
I don’t remember such emotional intensity in a long time. The elusive combination of romance, comedy and drama with action elements create an indescribable atmosphere. Even though I’m a man, sometimes I could not resist tears.
The music deserves a special mention. Very high quality, every second composition takes a soul. The subject of the mother is a masterpiece.
I hate regular shows where you can skip five episodes and lose nothing. Here, on the contrary, everything is so saturated that sometimes you have to pause to take a little breath. No random character, no passing scene. We don’t always have full-length films. I already in the third series caught myself thinking “and there are only 17 episodes left!”
It was shot really well. From everything that is in the frame blows confidence.
And the main thing that attracted me in Korean TV series in general and in this particular, is the transmission of feelings. Not a declaration, a transfer. The lack of vulgarity that fills our screens. And if a 27-year-old girl doesn’t have a boyfriend, she doesn’t look stupid because of that.
The main character Li Yun Song, performed by Li Min-ho, on the screen I saw for the first time. And unlike the female audience, he looked at him without undue trepidation about his appearance. I agree that he played his role very well. This hero earned my respect primarily because he managed to defy the man he considered his father for the sake of his own understanding of justice. This is despite possible problems.
Pak Min Young as Kim Na Na I really liked it. Yes, in my opinion, she is a bit simple, but how she managed to show her true love, which expects nothing in return is much more important. She behaves differently than many other women who enter a man’s life and try to take control. She's willing to wait when she needs to. Not hysterical. She is able to understand, although she can be very hurt at this point. He's a very strong man. And she will go to the end for the people close to her.
Prosecutor Kim Yong-jo is really sorry. I think his fate in the film might not have been that way. This character performed by Lee Joon Hyuk for me was a little unclaimed. Perhaps my attention was absorbed by other characters. Although in the film he is needed and played well. It is impossible not to respect such a person.
I really liked the former wife of the prosecutor, Chin Su Hee. No wonder she, though forced, so easily earned the trust of the main character. He knows how to keep quiet. Although her fate in the film is very sad.
The president, Choi Eun Chan, is the only one among the five traitors who has given me sincere understanding and sympathy. He had to accept the decision of the majority, but unlike them, he did not accept it. And as he said, “There wasn’t a day I didn’t remember it.” His behavior at the end confirms his remorse and willingness to bear any punishment.
The president’s daughter, Choi Da Hye, smiles like a sunbunny fills history with fun. For all its carelessness and spoiled, it does not cause irritation, because it is actually very sincere and kind.
Li Jin Pyo left a double impression. On the one hand you understand him, on the other you wonder how far he can go in his hatred, even to the detriment of the only dear person.
And of course, mother, Lee Kyung Hee. A very dramatic image that fills the series with depth.
In general, a very positive series, although in the last series all the fun moments end and the real drama begins.
Unfortunately, the finale could have been made better without changing anything much.
Viewing left a lot of sensations and impressions. It was very interesting to watch the first time you didn’t know what was going to happen. But no less interesting to watch the second and third time almost without rewinding. Of course, like all Korean TV shows, watch only with subtitles.
It is recommended to view people with different preferences, few will leave indifferent.
Almost a masterpiece.
