As always, I decided to plunge into a good old movie, you can not always watch our and not our modernity, when there is still so much unwatched old. This time it is the film of the Italian Antonio Pietrangeli “The Visitor” (in another version of “The Meeting”) / La visita, 1963, to the script, in addition to the director himself, such masters as Ettore Scola, Ruggero McCari, Gino de Santis, music was written by Armando Trovaioli. The story is quite ordinary - two single people meet on an ad in the newspaper, enter into correspondence and finally meet. Adolfo di Palma (François Perrier) is an unremarkable single salesman in a bookstore in Rome, Pina (Sandra Milo) is a pretty, but no longer very young woman living in the province, who does not have a personal life, since her lover has a family and two children, whom he does not intend to abandon for her, and no other suitors in the district. The time of action is one day, during which each of them will be able to prove themselves, and Adolfo is far from the best way. Each of them somewhere in their dreams has already made plans, Pina – how she gets to Rome, Adolfo, how he escapes from Rome, settles in Pina’s house, adjusting everything to himself, because many of it annoys him (bells on the door, Pina’s pets – a dog, a turtle, a parrot, a table at the entrance, etc.), opens a bookstore. Pina, despite the great desire to get out of this hole, will show observation, will be able to correctly see the essence of the character of a potential gentleman who will not be at all what she would like. And in the end, everyone will go their own way again, exchanging letters from time to time, in which it is so easy to get around all the problems. Despite such a simple plot, it was shot in a very Italian way, without complication and with a lot of irony, the actors are good. I loved the movie and lovers of old Italian movies should watch it.
