People wake up! Why don't you throw yourself at the screen? Jay Sherman. Prologue.
"Cinema Critic" or otherwise, "The Critic" is a little-known series of American production. It is strange that no one knows about its existence, because they put their hand on its creation (!!!).
Bret Haaland — "Futurama" and "Penguins from Madagascar";
Lauren McMullen — "The Simpsons", "King of the Mountain" and "Avatar: Legend of Aang";
Alan Smart — "SpongeBob square pants";
Brian Shisley — "King of the Mountain", "Futurama" and "Dan vs. ...";
David Cutler - "Don't hit the hoof" And also the self...
Rich Moore! - "The Simpsons", "Futurama", "Crazy behind glass" and an excellent Oscar nominee - "Ralph"!
Yeah. But this is their first or second series, which put them on the door of fame and to create a few series that have become for many moviegoers favorite masterpieces! I do not know why they had a hand in creating this series, but to tell about its existence is worth it!
Plot.
New York. In this city lives one of the most honest, famous, but one of the most unpopular and unloved film critics in America - Jay Sherman. Due to the fact that he negatively criticizes almost all the novelties released by Hollywood, his program is on the verge of closing due to low ratings, but as a well-made ship continues to drift in the ocean of dummy and manipulation in television boxes.
Urgent message! The state of Arizona is officially renamed the State Emergency Zone.
What is great about this sitcom series is the genres of comedy and drama. As a comedy - this series dignified and decently raised head justifies its genre. The series partially lacks annoying political satire, but only funny, witty, kind and funny jokes and parodies associated with American cinema. Although for me, the humor here is almost like a soulful . To understand cinematic humor can only moviegoer. Of course, everyone has their own sense of humor, and I don’t promise that any series will make you laugh. But what will cheer or raise a smile, I guarantee.
About drama. The series is mainly based on humor, but some seriousness for the sake of practicing some morality, also supports it. There is no clear and ridiculous statement of the characters who at the end utter such an idiotic phrase, like - I understood a lot: You have to appreciate what you have. For the heroes speak only scenes over which you can draw a conclusion from all this and noticeable hints from the lips of the characters. But besides this, the series also has a place of sympathy, sadness, touching and romance.
And for the fact that in one of the series showed a frame from the film by Sergei Eisenstein “Battleship Potemkin” thank you for a pleasant surprise and a little added points.

Characters.
The characters in the series are few, but they are worked out, interesting, charismatic, funny in their own way, and not cardboard.
Jay Sherman is the main character of the cartoon. Tolstoy, honest and depressive (for new films), single, intelligent and well-singing. Unlucky man in life: many do not respect him and hate him; bad work and reputation, like criticism; the boss is a jerk; after a divorce from his wife, he has only his son; and all the time tries to meet some girl, and he ends up mostly the same - either abandoned or afraid to run away from him. And at the end of the day, people close to him and familiar with him are different. For example, ...
Duke Phillips is a selfish billionaire and Sherman’s boss. Well-built blonde. For some reason, she thinks Sherman is gay.
Dorris is Jay's old makeup artist. She has smoked so many cigarettes in her life that she has unusual skills.
The rich family who adopted Sherman. Eleanor, his mother, regretting her life wasted, because of an unsuccessful marriage, but still rejoices at some point. Franklyn's father is a crazy idiot who was fooled by the first drink of alcohol.
Son, I'm going to be vice president and that's why I'm going to be honest with the American people. I'm not wearing that stupid wig anymore.
You’ve never worn it before!
- And now I will.
Sister Margot, a normal and ordinary (in terms of decent, but certainly not American ideologies) teenager. But unlike the rich, she is not selfish and greedy.
Alice is the most sympathetic heroine. Her life is almost like Sherman’s: divorced because of infidelity, she has only her own daughter, lives like any average static person in a poor apartment. A normal and kind woman. Because of each other’s understanding and having little in common, Sherman and Alice are close and kindred boots.

Animation.
As exactly mentioned by the user under the nickname “viva arsenal”, the animation strongly resembles the American TV series “Hey, Arnold!”. Despite some unpleasant shortcomings, like a small feature of the geometricity of most characters, it is quite normal to look at animation.
Animation: 1.6 points.
Soundtrack.
There's not much to write about. The series carries jazz melodies, and the soundtracks themselves from famous films. But most of all, I liked the main jazz music played at the beginning and end of the cartoon, its cheerful and positive rhythm.

The last one.
“Cinema Critic” is a fun, simple, funny, witty, kind, pleasant and naive life animated series about the life of Jay Sherman. But apart from some of the meanings contained in each series, there is the main idea of the series, and to understand what, I will quote an accurate and good phrase from the written review, one site, when I tried to find all the series.
In addition, the series further develops the popular idea that any critic is a failed artist.
I recommend it to film fans and those who have watched American films, because only they will understand and appreciate jokes and parodies on American films.
