The expectation of not coincided with reality How long have I had this movie on CD? But after squandering it one day, I assumed it was a regular low-budget horror movie with nothing to catch, which would try to drive out on seriousness. So I put it off. Judge for yourself - Lizard tries to lure us with the inscription "From the creators From dusk to dawn", although if you dig under this film - it becomes clear that from the creators there is only one shard in the form of Kurtzman. Did you think you were going to get Tarantino with Rodriguez? I'm definitely not, I'm looking at low budgets. In general, I always said that it is impossible to form even an approximate opinion on rewinding and frames a la to look / not to look, but this time he himself fell for his bait.
So, before us is the mystical horror Edward Douglas "Dead flesh". As far as I know, before the release of the license in 2012, this film was in the public domain, so you could watch it even earlier. Before the release of the CD from Lizard, I had not heard of this work at all. That’s why I watched it in a good, licensed voice. But is this film so good that it should have been released when many had already watched it on the Internet?
I said I was expecting a serious horror. I was wrong. The plot revolves around four typical American movie teenagers. We have two girls, two guys. One of the girls wanted to perform a magical rite in the forest to summon the spirit of her dead brother. Purely by chance in the forest, where the ceremony was supposed to take place, the girl finds an incomprehensible amulet, which she immediately puts on her neck. The ceremony is successful, however unexpectedly: the guys have their own tame zombie. And for the amulet, two powerful vampires have already left, played by Divoff and Savini.
Delusion? That's it! Scary? Of course, ten times! This is one of the most incomprehensible horror movies I've seen. It seems that the writer’s storytelling skills were in last place, so I recommend watching the first 15-20 minutes very carefully, the film barely connects the storylines. And in the end, too, there will be confusion, but until the end few people will look, I think.
Now on to the minuses. Incredibly cheap sets and terrible special effects clearly will not appeal to the viewer who is waiting for a good horror movie. I specialize in low-budget, so I turn a blind eye to this. Actors? It is clear that it does not and will not. Divoff and Savini act as forgotten guest stars and appear 5 minutes more than Denny Trejo in similar films. In fact, there is only one zombie, and that one is tame. But the most important thing is the script, I repeat. It is not possible to name him clearly.
Of the pluses, I can note that sometimes it seems that you watch some cheap horror straight from the 80s. There are such raids of atmosphericity in this film. More pluses? Strangely enough, I could not find them again. The film was not produced by Douglas.
And, to sum up, everything in brief: the script is bullshit; zombies in fact only one; sagging action in the middle is ensured; Divoff and Savini in episodes; sometimes the film smells like 80. Who do I recommend to watch the movie? No one. Lovers of good horror movies have nothing to do here, and fans of cheapness like me will most likely just be bored.
Thank you very much.
