Under the mask of virtue, evil often lurks. From one small spark can burn a real fire, destroying all the evil around. . Yes, I am amazed by this film. Mithun as the main villain, it is a spectacle. But as great as he was, there are no words. This chilling soul piercing through the steely look, words cannot describe. The chills ran over his body when he looked at it. He played the district manager Svetosha, who is worshiped by people of a dozen surrounding villages. One of the main characters of the film said rightly to him: You call yourself a holy man, call people to observe religion and thereby keep them in fear. And you hide yourself during the day under the mask of kindness and holiness, at night you commit iniquity and indulge in physical pleasures by organizing orgies. How can I trust you after that? Religion in your hands is a terrible weapon.
It is true that all this holiness acts on uneducated and ignorant people like a red rag on a bull. As much as they feared him and revered him, every word he said was taken for granted, so it was to his advantage that there was no school in the village. Women all over the world are divided into three categories: goddesses, mothers and prostitutes. The first is worshiped, the second is revered and respected, and the third is created to satisfy the physical desires of men. Each of them has its own place. And if suddenly a prostitute falls in love with someone and decides to become a decent woman and arrange her fate, then according to such imaginary saints, she will commit a terrible sin, and bring terrible troubles to the whole village. After all, a prostitute is not a woman, she is dirt lying under her feet and has no right to anything, let alone enter a “decent society.” And this very society, bowing to such a saint, believing every word of him, is ready to demolish everything in its path defending justice and then it is better not to catch their eyes.
This film has many layers. This is a love story of a young and innocent prostitute and postman. How can a prostitute be innocent? There. If a little girl is sold by an alcoholic’s own father to a brothel, and the owner of a brothel raises her as her own daughter and preserves her honor to a certain point, the girl remains innocent, although she lives in a brothel. After all, she is not a prostitute at all, but when the owner of the district himself laid eyes on her, the same saint whom everyone reveres as God, and by all means (deception and blackmail) luring her to his abode, brazenly and shamelessly satisfies his lust. And he doesn’t care what this girl feels after that, because she received money from him and “his holy energy” that she still needs. And what humiliation she endured, what a tragedy it is for her, he does not care, because she is a prostitute, and therefore a nothingness who has no feelings and respect for herself.
In those moments, I was just boiling with anger. How did I want to stab this bastard in the heart or burn him with fire to somehow make him understand that not every girl living in a brothel is a prostitute, and not every prostitute happily jumps into bed with any client, as long as she was paid money? They are also women who are just in such conditions that they have to do it. And even more so in India, where every alcoholic father or guardian can safely sell his own daughter or niece to a brothel, for a couple of hundred rupees. So what do you do to this girl who was sold as something in the market? She is forced to earn the money paid for her.
The actors are great. I really liked Sushmita Saint as Basanti. So young, innocent, very cheerful, cheerful, bright, kind, no matter what. Respects and in his own way loves this woman, the owner of the brothel, like his own mother, takes care of her. And when she meets her love, a handsome young postman, her whole life changes. And this guy is like a ray of hope for her, like a bridge to a new happy life. As she rejoiced at the upcoming marriage, all emotions were expressed on the face of Sushmits. Bravo!
And the actor who played the postman, Anuj Savney, also very much liked. I saw him for the first time, he played perfectly. All tenderness and love towards this girl showed excellent. I was so worried about them throughout the film, so many tears were shed throughout this story. He's a fantastic actor. And he proved it in "Sparkle of Love". He played his part with his heart, put his soul into his game. There are several powerful scenes of opposition Mithun and Anuja. That was great. I think Anuj deserves an award.
The role of Ila Arun as the owner of a brothel is performed excellently - from an overly painted face to the alternation of maternal care and the cold-blooded exploitative streak of a business woman. This actress is an expert in depicting a caricature of a man cornered by life circumstances.
Mithun Chakraborty: three times winner of the National Prize. He did a great job in this film as Bhuvan Panda. He was like nature. He was stunning. Mithun did not play the role of Bhuvan, he was Bhuvan. MithunGenius and unique... Body language was accurate. His passion for Basanti, the way he looks and walks, was very accurate, only a genius actor like Mithun can do what he did on screen. He deserves his 4th National Award. Bhuvan We have a passion for Basanti and hate her as a prostitute. All fans of Mithun will enjoy watching this film.
There are other problems that are still prevalent in these remote areas of northern India; illiteracy, the sexual exploitation of the poor, and false priests. This is a film from the director Kalpana Lazmi. The story is bold, and the director courageously exposes injustice in Indian villages, common since the very beginning of society, where hypocrites like the priest fully exploit religion as they please and play the role of God, putting an ultimatum on every issue in the village. It is also very clear how people are helpless in the face of such rulers, especially women. This will continue until such holy rulers appear again and again as long as the people remain ignorant and illiterate. The film ends on a very encouraging note. People sooner or later will see and learn to cope with evil. It is believed that the struggle between Good and Evil makes the forces of good stronger ... perhaps so, but not in every particular case ...
