And penguins can fly. The film tells about the fate of the northernmost zoo in Japan. Throughout the film, in general, a comedy, there is a serious struggle of the employees of the zoo for survival. The profitable zoo, which was on the verge of closing, survived thanks to the sincere efforts of people, for whom its preservation was a matter of principle and honor. The director of the zoo walks around the doorsteps of high officials, speaks to the city council, invents new ways to attract visitors and even participates in protests with his team, which employs a young niece of the mayor himself. Step by step, being sometimes on the verge of despair, losing animals and even one of their comrades, enthusiasts achieve the same goal - the zoo becomes one of the best (or even the best) in Japan. And even the penguins in it ... fly.
Humans are not like animals - it destroys the popular view of this film in recent years. In the animal world, everything is expedient, but also cruel: the weak and the sick do not survive, as well as the unlike. Only man accepts the weak and the sick in his society. Dissimilarity is considered an individuality. And only humans can take care of animals - representatives of not their own species. Raising a human, not just an animal, is taught in the film Asahiyama Zoo – Penguins in the Sky.
