The Japanese film “School debut”, shot on the manga of the same name, is light and not stressful. And to wait for some seriousness, looking at the description of this film, stupid. The plot of this picture is quite simple and not new at all. The main character, Haruna Nagashima, having read shōjo-manga, dreams of love, but her sports past prevents the girl from realizing her fantasies. And she decides to resort to the same method as in sports to find a coach that will lead her to success. The choice fell on Yo Komiyama, who decided to help only on the condition that Haruna should not fall in love with him.
The advantages of this tape can be attributed to colorfulness. It was nice to watch everything from costumes and landscapes to the construction of the frame. There is a feeling that the characters are really in the shojo manga, and special effects in the anime style strengthened the impression. The cast was well selected; the only one who was slightly knocked out of the caste was Jumpei Mizobata somehow did not get involved with the image of a schoolboy.
But the lack of intrigue, the film surprised me unpleasantly, because from the first seconds it was clear further development of the plot. And in love, Yo did not really believe, it was painfully suddenly that he flared up feelings for Haruna.
Overall, “School Debut” made a good impression on me. This romantic comedy, not particularly loaded with meaning, is perfect to pass the evening.
