A comedy and a parable in one bottle An ordinary Moscow family is preparing for the New Year and the arrival of guests: the mother-in-law habitually quarrels with her son-in-law, the child is waiting for Santa Claus, and his mother is waiting for a classmate with whom she has not seen for 10 years. Suddenly, the father of the family is locked in the toilet for several hours. . .
Honestly, the plot in summary is quite dubious. I wanted to see something like Christmas or New Year. So 'Grandfather Frost...' included, we can say, from despair, and there is still a beginning so gloomy as a son-in-law with mother-in-law swearing (Mother-in-law Tatiana Vasilyeva plays just great!), and immediately such terrible impressions from this family, do not want to look further. . .
But we bravely survived the first 10-15 minutes - and the film was beautiful! A real New Year's fairy tale! Some characters are very characteristic, others, on the contrary, quite special - but that's a good thing! You won’t know how it will end, but that’s great too! And it ends well - we can say that in life it does not happen, but it is a New Year's fairy tale!
And the types are very recognizable. That is, reality is it, let it be brought to the grotesque in some places. New Year’s Eve – it’s very Russian. And laughter, irony and even banter - everything in this film is present, but very kind.
However, it seemed to me that the film is not as simple as it might seem at first. It has elements of a parable: both a demon and a magician. Some hints are not even obvious. Quite a deep film, in general, albeit a New Year's comedy.
