I really don’t understand why this movie has a very good rating, considering that the film is actually disgusting. And I’m not against youth comedies, even if they sometimes exceed the dose of vulgarity, because if it’s really funny, then the film is a success, because you don’t need to demand much from them. And I didn’t ask for much from this film – it would be funny and thank you.
But I don’t know when to laugh. On what? The film is replete not with jokes and ridiculous situations in which the main character gets, but openly nasty and nasty things. More precisely, there are ridiculous and comic situations, but they are played terribly, and who came up with the idea to add unnecessary details? How can it be funny that the main character literally tries shit? And why show it in such detail - on the whole screen, close-up, the heroine takes a poop in her hand and sticks it in her mouth... And there are many such scenes with excesses in the film, and instead of humor, we get a share of abomination, from which you want to go to the shower and wash yourself for a long time.
I will not even criticize the film for the illogical actions of the main character, who literally 5 minutes from an exemplary honors student turns into a girl of easy behavior.
The only plus of this film, in a good cast. And that surprises me: Aubrey Plaza, Donald Glover, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Andy Samberg (with you, obviously), damn it, Clark Greg. How did they get into this shit? ? These are very popular guys who took part in famous projects (be it Avengers, Parks and Recreation Areas, Community, etc.), who have their own fan base. I had hoped until the middle of the film that this gang wouldn’t upset me, but I ended up being more and more disappointed.
Thought to put all 2 out of 10, but this rating I gave the same nasty and nasty “Classmates 2” with Sandler, but Adam and his company on the background of this film look decent people, so
Another story about how teenagers can be difficult, especially if it concerns not just personal life, but even intimate.
Brandi Clark is a high school graduate, a typical high school student, who has everything to be clear and according to plan. It is clear that such a girl does not get along with guys, although she does not see much meaning in relationships. After receiving her certificates, her friends drag her to the most normal party, with alcohol and real fun, and there she sees a handsome guy from college. For the summer, Brandy got a job in a children's pool and, by the way, the guy of her dreams there is a lifeguard. The heroine also has a school sigher who works with her in the same pool, but she is not interested in it. One day, her older sister tells Clark that the first year of college is a sex marathon and you have to be ready. Here, the excellent student decides to seriously take up business and makes a list of what to do for the summer. By the way, it was 1993, the Internet as such was not yet available to find the necessary information.
Well, to begin with, a lot of people started writing about the movie in a totally negative way, because it's kind of vulgar, dirty and almost immoral. But the film is about sexual experience, what did you want to see? If someone reacts in this way to such films, it is easier to read the description and not watch, so that your psyche is not injured. For me, the film turned out to be unrealistically funny and I was often amazed by the persistence of the heroine, and how she approached the case. After all, she decided to treat the sexual experience as if it was preparation for a serious exam. I don’t like Aubrey Plaza herself very much, but she looks great in this tough, persistent and slightly bitchy image. I also began to think about how people did without the Internet, especially when they needed information on a sensitive topic. I had to look for some magazines or just ask friends what and how. I really liked the idea and the characters. It turned out a kind of "American Pie" only female version.
For those who want to relax and laugh from the heart, and, of course, those who like rather vulgar humor. And those who find such jokes unacceptable, it is better to refrain from watching.

Sex is not a trifle, although at the same time a trifle; rather, it is a serious thing, but do not take it so seriously. Sometimes sex is just sex.
The pants are down, the bra is lost. What is the next step?
The next step is not to break the comedy. Literally. Alas, the director in his film debut only does that. With confident steps, the comedy first approaches the cliff, and then falls into it with a whistle and a bang. The situations in which the main character falls are only partially funny. Yes, it is not a sin to smile over a couple of episodes, but this is catastrophically small. Instead of an ironic juggling of situational and "toilet" humor, Maggie Carey puts more emphasis on "toilet," sometimes managing to drop it to frankly "sorting."
In other words, sexual concepts, so often mentioned in the film, lose all their sexuality under too close and dry, sometimes disgusted by the rude attention of the writer and director. Of course, Carey is trying to make a story in the spirit of the 90s, when during sex, children unsuccessfully hid from their parents, and called only through a disk phone with a tube on the “curly” wire. But the abundance of intimate topics discussed (and it does not matter who is nearby, from toddlers to old people) and the mention of Photoshop that slipped once again makes you doubt an honest approach to the matter.
The story itself is clichéd and drawn out. The main character is annoying at first, but then you get used to it, resigning yourself to both her not the most attractive appearance and stupid contradictory actions. A convinced virgin here suddenly becomes, I will not hesitate to say, a whore, who then one day, of course!, will tire of her adventures and all her former exploits will be swept away by those who are “worthier than all worthy.” But before you think ahead, let’s watch how she seduces her best friend, then tries various experiments, then eats someone’s feces from the pool, then looks at a handsome colleague who takes off a T-shirt five hundred times per film, because the plot must be stretched with a visual “trap”.
While watching, I didn’t go far for examples and mostly drew analogies with the notorious “American Pie.” But the first three parts of the franchise look like a normal comedy, now looking nostalgic about the time when too young students did not know the words “minet” and “grease”. “The to-do list” (in Russian translation you know what) and not standing nearby. The trouble with the film is that it jumps too hard on its own intimate component, as I will not throw associations. Such jumps will not suit everyone in spirit, although some truth is present in the plot. But the main scenario attempts do not go beyond the banal “love triangle”, and the heroine breaks it with enviable diligence, although it is already clear in advance what conclusions and actions this raging buffoon will end. The questions “Who will she choose” and “How many items will be crossed out in the list”, in my opinion, should stand apart from each other. Because if you're a libertine, don't act like a boring Virgin Mary. However, this is not the truth here.
This film could have been an easy and relaxed comedy. He had great potential for that. However, there are many disgusting moments. In general, in films of such subjects it is easy to cross the line and it is safe to say that the creators of “Who to sleep with?”! did it more than once. There was a feeling that they simply did not know what else to surprise the sophisticated audience, so they decided to take shots and jokes “below the plinth” – yet any emotions cause.
And yet, if at the beginning of the film causes a mixed feeling of bent stick and desire to see what will happen next, then towards the end the plot aligns, there is a hint of meaning and all this does not seem so hopeless.
Cinema of the 80s and 90s has a special warmth, so it is not surprising that the creators of “Who to sleep with?!!” chose this time period for stylization. Perhaps the past for people always had some special attraction. In the 80s, they shot stylization for the 50s and 60s, now under the 80s and 90s, and in thirty years someone will make a movie about our time.
The main character Brandy performed by Aubrey Plaza I liked (even hard to believe that the actress is actually almost thirty years old!). But why is it that those who are diligent in their studies are always laughed at? Perhaps the point here is in the same bent stick: in the ability to learn, but the inability to have fun. The golden mean is not called the golden mean for nothing. But I liked her approach to sex education - "an excellent student and it will do for five."
I also liked the ease with which her mother talks to her daughters on candid topics.
The heroine's girlfriends first tell Brandy that it is not necessary to be a "late flower", and then they themselves call her a whore - although judging by the plot, they are not angels at all. “You’re either a virgin or a whore.” And it is strange that they, for all their experience, are so negative about "playing their banjo."
The sister of the main character did not like me. With external attractiveness, she has a completely unbearable character. She is constantly rude, impolite, and the guy for a comfortable life chose clearly the wrong one.
I didn’t like the main characters, except for Cameron. "Pool Chief" Willie (with some strange glimpses of morality) and "lover hero" Rusty, what are their stupid jokes? Some kind of kindergarten.
And the title of the film is not quite true, because the heroine knows who to sleep with, she is interested in several other issues. So the original title of "To-Do List" is more appropriate, although, I must admit, a bit dry for such a picture, and certainly less exciting than "Who to sleep with?!!".
The finale of the film surprised me somewhat and at the same time was absolutely predictable – the heroine set a goal, she achieved it. I was just expecting some unexpected twist, as is often the case in movies like this. However, the final scene of the film pleased me - it was exactly what I expected a few minutes earlier.
It was a bit of a pity for Cameron, but it's understandable why she chose Rusty. It's like a fashion brand - the first time I had that cool guy. But I'm glad the movie ended exactly as it ended.
From a moral point of view, the film is highly questionable - should teenagers care so much about sex? And in general, happiness in personal life often does not depend on experience in this field and on whether you know everything about tea bags. However, the film for some reason absolutely does not have to moralize. And the question “Is it worth it?” perfectly answered one of the heroes “Who to sleep with?”: “Sex is very important, but at the same time and unimportant.” It is important, but it should not be the most important.
The middle ground. As always. :)
To begin with, I would like to say that I like “stupid American comedies” (American Pie, Eurotour, etc.), during which you can laugh from the heart, abstracting from the brain load.
This same picture, which I forced myself to examine from beginning to end, was the worst I had ever seen. Open propaganda of the leveling of human values and alcoholism. In any film I have not yet seen that would focus on the beginning of sexual life in 14-15 years, on the fact that you need to try many types of sex at once to be a full member of society.
In general, the way the authors of this work focused on the physical contact of a child with a huge number of sexual partners (not that the main character did not feel emotional attachment, but, with some, she was not even familiar), caused me only one emotion - a sharp disgust.
The director of the series of videos of the comedy project “Funny or Die” addresses the topic of loss of virginity in his first feature film. Maggie Carey first touched on the topic of sex in the documentary “Ladyporn”, the content of which can be easily read from the title.
The nostalgia of the filmmakers for the time when they were young and beautiful is expressed in the choice of the time of the film - this is 1993. The main character solves the key problem of all high school graduates that are found in comedies, namely, how to lose their virginity most quickly and effectively.
Titles in the style of “Napoleon Dynamite” are tuned to a certain mood, which implies key characteristics such as geek & freak. However, The To Do List doesn’t fit into that framework. Maggie Carey really tries to make a light and funny movie, but it turns out not very elegant. That makes the movie look a little boring. Whether a teenage comedy, or an independent movie like the already mentioned “Napoleon Dynamite” or “General Education”, or a drama in the style of Judd Apatow.
The cast of "The To Do List" is a magnificent assortment, which is found only in comedies, where almost all the actors involved are familiar with the director. Aubrey Plaza, Johnny Simmons, Jack McBrier, Rachel Bilson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Andy Samberg, Connie Britton and Clark Gregg, known for his role in The Avengers and related Marvel projects. The main acting work of “The To Do List” certainly belongs to the mind-blowing Bill Hader, who plays a swimming instructor who can not swim.
I especially want to note the Russian title of the picture, which sounds like “Who to sleep with?” On the one hand, it is evidently the desire of Russian distributors to bring the film industry as close as possible to the low artistic needs of the Russian-speaking public. On the other hand, a consequence of the general level of education of the population is that in other countries English-language names do not require translation, since they are a priori clear to most. In the Russian box office to leave the title of the film in English is simply impossible. What percentage speak Shakespeare and Dickens? Therefore, the elegant irony of the phrase “The To Do List” turned into a clumsy and vulgar claim to humor – “Who to sleep with?”
Recommending this movie is difficult. There is no great comedy, no deep subtext. Maggie Carey did not have enough experience to shoot a full-fledged comedy that can give the viewer an hour and a half of sparkling fun. Overall, it’s a mid-range movie, but if you like Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Andy Samberg, Jack McBrier or Bill Hader, it’s worth watching.
First of all, I want to note the wonderful imagination of Russian distributors. Thanks to them, I was especially interested in going to the movies. “Two tickets for ‘Who to sleep with, please’ – and the whole queue with the cashiers are staring at my friend and me as perverts.” After all, the normal name was the American version: "To do list" - "To do list". And the essence reflects, and not so shameful sounds.
Usually negative reviews are written for such films. So (Dumb American Comedy) in pure form. But... I really enjoyed watching. At least the whole movie was just a dirty trick. Only here the vulgarity was surprisingly funny and not evil. You can clearly see that the whole set lurks from what they do.
Plot. The general canvas is banal to tears. GG, who is in love with sexy shit... er... sloppy and point-blank overlooks a smart, cute, loyal, in love friend who is a hundred times better. I knew how it would end after the opening credits. But the path that the plot overcomes, surprisingly makes you continue to look, and not jump in place “When will it end?”. Interesting. That's the point.
Humor. I rusted the whole movie. That says it all. They rarely make me laugh, but then I rusted the whole movie. It seems to be a friend too.
The cast. The golden component. I can't say I really like the rising indie movie star Aubrey Plaza as GG, but she wasn't that bad. Everyone else is up. I can single out several: Bilson played a good bitch-sister, Minz-Plasse distinguished himself in an unusual role, Samberg - he is Samberg, some of his facial expressions are always expensive. In my purely subjective opinion, the best was still Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live, Superpeppers, Paul is a secret material, Park of Culture and Recreation, etc., etc.), concurrently the husband of the director and screenwriter Maggie Carey. Each scene with him is a small theater of one actor. Indecently beautiful and talented actor. Aye-aye-aye, Bill. You need to think about the partners in the film, and not attract all the attention.
Conclusion: You may hate me, but my review is positive. It is not recommended for viewing fans of serious movies with a deep meaning, and everyone else will quite enjoy it, especially those who love films such as "American Pie" and "Road Adventure". Who to sleep with is an extremely funny comedy on the subject of puberty.
Within the genre (and only within the genre!)

It is strange that the film has just been released, and it has already stopped showing in many theaters. Either the viewer was painfully discriminating, or the distributors did not want to go bankrupt on marketing. Or maybe everyone is just embarrassed to admit to the cashiers that they want to "" Who to sleep with? Who is not ashamed - well done, take a cake from the shelf.
Z. Z. Y. But my review is the first! It is a pity that no one wanted to share their opinion.
