Have you ever seen an opening with hidden screens?
Perhaps I can safely call this anime my first horror movie, since I had never watched anything like this before. And most interestingly, I even thought that anime horror is not as scary as horror movies. Ha ha ha, how wrong I was.
The essence of horror anime is that due to the fact that all this is drawn, it turns out that even the same emotions are transmitted more acutely here, which also significantly affects the atmosphere in the horror itself. The atmosphere of horror is easier to show in anime, because there are a large number of artistic techniques that can significantly escalate the situation and intimidate the viewer.
And I wouldn’t be lying if I said that I just love the song that sounds in the opening. Not in terms of the text, but in terms of the harmony and melody, because it is really good, and the translation of the text I do not even know. By the way, in the anime itself, all the musical inserts that are available have a positive effect on the plot and do not look inappropriate.
And this anime can be attributed to a full-fledged detective, since up to the last series, the viewer still needs to find out who is the Other or the Other. There are a lot of leads, it remains to do only mental work. But the rating of this anime is definitely 18+, or even as many as 21+, because it is very cruel and bloody.
Even though I haven’t watched any other anime, I really liked it. The story is complete and not stretched, the plot is interesting. The tension does not subside, the cliffhangers only increase interest, and the death scenes are unexpected and interesting. I recommend it to all the fans of Destination.
The anime series Another is a mixture of the classic detective thriller and horror Destination, where it is as if death itself haunts the heroes that they are so trying to escape from it. The plot makes you think, captivates and excites the mind, and some
Koichi Sakakibara, because of his father’s work, moved from Tokyo to Yomiyama, his late mother’s hometown. The main character, before the start of studies, goes to the hospital due to lung disease. In the hospital, he meets a lonely and strange girl with a bandage on her left eye. She was dressed in her school uniform and had a beautiful but frightening doll in her hands. When Koichi begins his 3-3 class, he notices the same girl named Mei Misaki, but soon becomes frightened by the fact that he sees her.
In the subsequent development of the plot, we, together with the main character, learn a mystical story, which is many in small towns, but in this city, it became a reality. 26 years ago, in 1972, a student named Misaki Yomiyama attended Yomiyama High School in 3-3. He was good at everything and loved by both classmates and teachers. When he died in an accident, the whole school mourned. After his death, someone said that Misaki was alive, and taking up the idea, the heartbroken class began to pretend that Misaki was still with them. It even got to the point that the headmaster left a dead seat at the graduation ceremony. And then Misaki suddenly appeared - in the graduation photo of the very class that was so unwilling to accept his death. And then every month, some of the students and their relatives started dying, and people realized that they had been cursed by bringing in someone who no longer existed. Having tried various means, students and teachers found the reverse magic: to prevent death, it was necessary to ignore one of the living students, as if he did not exist, thus making room in the classroom for the dead.
The story is presented on behalf of the main character, that is, we get all the information together with him. In mystical stories, detective stories and thrillers, this is the best and most effective way to present information to the viewer. Together with the hero, we solve the mystery, worry for his life, as we begin to project ourselves on him. That is why Koichi sometimes seems to be a faded character, because in addition to the role of the character, his main task is to be a narrative tool, often he does not move the plot, but receives information and flows along with the viewer to the answer.
Mei Misaki is a mysterious quiet girl with white skin, black hair and an eye patch that hides an implant - a puppet eye that her mother once gave her. The eye can see what the normal eye cannot see. Her detachment from what is happening is due to psychological trauma and secretive nature. Just before we met her, she had a terrible tragedy that alienated her from people even more. She's like a ghost that just exists, and that fact, oddly enough, makes her alive for us.
The plot is presented interestingly, the story itself is twisted and has a set of rules that sometimes greatly neglect scenario assumptions. And even if such things will repel the viewer, the denouement of the classic detective in a confined space should please. The killer, and in this case the Dead Man, is the one you least expect to see. Suspicion falls on everyone, even the main character.
The story is spoiled a little too crazy and, to some extent, boddihorror denouement. It is accompanied by a bloody massacre caused by the pressure on the psyche that produces what is happening with schoolchildren story.
I am not an anime artist, but sometimes (very rarely) watch Japanese animation for general development purposes. Somehow I wanted the soul of an animated horror and my choice fell on the series 'Inaya'. The beginning was promising, albeit clichéd: teenagers go to a new school, the characters are covered with glitches that hint at a certain plot puzzle for the viewer, periodically in the plot there are mysterious places with a gloomy atmosphere and dolls. But in the end, the plot turned out to be licked with the extremely unloved franchise ' Destination Point', the glitches were not sanely explained, the dolls in the end were inserted not as part of the plot, but just like that, but not the tail of the mare. The last series turned out to be frankly boring: the mystical atmosphere disappeared somewhere, and the whole plot led to the banal and predictable death of specific characters.
Anyway, I didn't like it. Yeah, it's pretty cool. Yes, the first five episodes and glitch characters are very fun and atmospheric, clearly inspired by David Lynch. And the rest of the series and the denouement, which is difficult to call a denouement (not much was explained, and if anything was explained, then another banal curse from the bearded times) - about nothing.
Personally for me, an example of unconditional suitability from the category of teenage serial mysticism remain ' Higurashi' they are also ' When cicadas cry'. And here'Other' I can't recommend it. Although on otzovnik sites and distributions, for some reason, she is praised. Well, apparently, since I'm not an anime, I don't understand. . .
15-year-old Koichi Sakakibara becomes a newcomer to an unusual class. It seems that only he sees behind the old desk a pale girl with an eye patch. This girl comes and goes. Koichi tries to figure out what is happening, but people began to die around. The further he unravels the tangle of mysteries, the more deaths. A good anime with a not entirely smooth narrative.
But if you look at it from a different angle.
At first, they are frightened, they show a strange girl, no one sees her. Ghost! A spooky puppet show - does it mean anything? If there are ghosts, they have a soul, unlike dolls. What's going on? And when everything is explained to the viewer, the previous plot threads are simply cut. Well, there's been something there before, and all right, keep a simple non-supernatural explanation. Or forget about everything, because it begins to look like “destination”, turning into a mass “Here comes Johnny!”
The origin of the phenomenon itself has not been explained. How did it come about, why in this class? Or the story that the students believed in the existence of a deceased classmate, right?
May mentions seeing unusual things and doesn't talk about it until the very end. A sinister ghost photo that has been searched for long and hard was shown as if it meant nothing. Here you go.
Mass amnesia is also very severe. Every year, or a year later, students die, in 1998 almost half of the city died (to exaggerate). Did the relatives and friends of all those who have ever died not dare to revolt and demand that the authorities demolish the entire school? Does your memory make you feel that bad?
Dialogues are rather bland, students unsuccessfully try to find out the bits of information from each other, mysteriously silent, and when the time comes, just lay everything out. Adults know nothing, or do not remember, try to remember, but again do not remember anything.
A lot of Japanese names and surnames, current schoolchildren, lists of previous students, I personally did not follow all of them. Who is there whose brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather? But that doesn’t matter.
In Agatha Christie's most famous detectives, detective Hercule Poirot scrupulously searches for evidence, conducts an investigation, summarizes the findings, eventually collects all the suspects and names the killer. In less successful detectives, Belgian Hercules still conducts an investigation, in the end collects suspects and ... pulls out of wide pants the most important evidence that appears for the first time, and with the help of it calls the name of the killer. I do not like this, because all the scattered tips mean nothing, there is no chance to guess yourself.
It's about the same as the not-so-best creations of Agatha Christie. That the killer is a butler, we're told at the end. Just confronting the fact. Or rather, not even the butler, but the neighbor's butler. Or, to be more precise, a neighborhood gardener dressed as a butler. Previously issued tips, although far-fetched to this “killer”, but to say that they are completely sidelined, also impossible. But it still looks like the writers have pointed a finger at the most obscure character. It was different in the manga.
Despite the shortcomings, the anime keeps the attention, I want to know what will happen next when it all ends.
Storyboardist and director Tsutomu Midsushima, personally I became familiar after watching Blood-C, which was perceived by me in a not very unambiguous way. The thing is that there was really cool, and bloody action, which is quite capable of impressing even the demanding viewer. But with the plot there was some terrible nonsense, and many characters in places are very annoying. But I decided to watch "The Other" for a very different reason. I just try not to pass by iconic works in the genre of horror. And this applies to anime, not least. And “Other” and then floated in numerous recommendations of various sites associated with anime, as one of the most iconic works in the genre. For a very long time postponed viewing, but recently decided to watch, the benefit here is only 12 episodes.
“The Other” is essentially another story about an ineradicable curse that started 26 years ago. In a junior high school, there was a student who suddenly died. This event so shocked all the students in her class that they decided to pretend that the girl is still alive and is next to them, she even allocated a separate desk. But since then, in almost every generation of the class, there has been a student who does not really exist, who has long since died, but is among the living. And nothing, but this one projects just terrible events. All the pupils and teachers of this class gradually begin to die a terrible death, and it is the task of each generation of the class to choose one of the pupils as a scapegoat. The latter will be ignored literally by everyone, it will cease to exist for them, and the given will kind of hold back the curse.
If you are interested in analogies, then “Other” is in some way most similar to “destination point”. Here, something similar happens with deaths, that is, similarly to the “destination point”, bony with a scythe pursues local schoolchildren literally everywhere, and the accidents that occur to them are not accidents at all. As for the deaths themselves, at first they are completely unexpected for you. The first death generally introduces into a kind of stupor, since in the initial series the project is not very similar to something similar, and in fact, to the end, it begins to happen that some particularly bloody works in the genre may well envy. The atmosphere in "The Other" is simply excellent. I really like something like that, it's literally from the beginning extremely gloomy, cold, and almost permeating. And all the action takes place in a small provincial town, right on all the precepts of Japanese animation and manga.
Some of the characters turned out to be really colorful and memorable. But this primarily concerns the main characters, but the rest of the class is not particularly memorable, you can not even remember their names, and probably not necessary. But there is one very significant drawback in The Other, and personally, in my opinion, it concerns the plot component. In some places it was so confused that you just do not have time to understand everything that is happening. At the same time, some things are not explained to you at all, and some should simply be accepted as conventions. The same applies to the actions of the characters, some of them often begin to behave just like real idiots, and do completely illogical things. And I don't even know if this is a claim to the genre itself, or to the writers and the director. But otherwise, "Other" actually turned out to be a really good spectacle, which in general does not let you get bored, and ends exactly when it should be done. I would probably like to see a sequel, but, apparently, it will no longer be.

The plot is a linear narrative, but it is a well-designed linear narrative and if you look closely, then (for example) the end will not surprise you. It's kind of like a mystery detective, but mysticism breaks down in the middle, and the detective's kind of weird. The very concept and implementation of the phenomenon is good, the author has come up with everything interesting. Filler series on the beach, in my opinion, useless and is privation. What happens at the end is a stupidly clichéd teen horror movie, but it’s so spectacular you’re starting to like it (probably). Visual style, like any anime, that is, good, the backs are beautiful, the characters and their movement are strike and this is a big minus, apparently not paid extra. But to be honest, all this horror just does not work, we (the audience) just do not fear, who will be afraid of the urban “curse”? Although this is not a curse, but rather a phenomenon if you trust the librarian. And I agree with him.
Music. She came out like herself, in principle, approaches what is happening on the screen, but is not remembered and there is no desire to add her to your playlist (probably not counting only Another OST – Track 01, it is remembered).
Characters. Characters, although not all, but those that are worked out, they are well worked out (for example, Misaki Mei, his behavior and his indifference to other people's deaths, well, when she does not care about her life, then this is definitely a sign of unstable psyche). The rest are either future corpses or debicas. By the way, Mr. is quite ordinary, but this is bullshit with the fact that he came and handled everything, but this is to himself (+ at first they do not explain anything (about the phenomenon and the rules of the class) and this is quite stupid, because then it is because of this that all the problems begin. In short, this is their logic.
All deaths look dynamic and beautiful. Somewhere, but they didn't spare the money. To me, every death was funny. I don't know why, but it was funny. After all, deaths are ridiculous, but this does not mean that they are bad, but vice versa.
Let’s say you can watch to understand what a linear story is (good). It is interesting to follow the progress of the plot. In short, you can watch, in principle you will not lose anything.
Like, perhaps, all anime, 'Another' can be called ' a good bad' movie. For example, the plot in it is quite banal and primitive, and even me, not a special lover of teenage mystics ' horrors' seems quite template: ' a small, quiet town hiding a terrible secret', ' strange, gloomy girl with dark hair' ' creepy dolls' ' Conspiracy of silence' ' ' Old curse and mysterious deaths of schoolchildren''. This is a typical set of stamps before yawning. Dialogues are weak, the characters are satisfied with primitive, the plot, especially in the first series, is excessively long, and the main character is irritatingly stiff.
That's it. But what really motivates the plot is behind all this pseudomystical nonsense, really interesting - real xenophobia. Not the imaginary #39, xenophobia, which politicians of the left-liberal orientation lie about, destroying the nation-state, and everyday, disgusting xenophobia is a real fear of the other. This is where the anime catches on, showing how irrational, cruel and dirty this collective obsession with the evils of a particular closed group can be - from a group of friends, a school class or a labor collective, to, yes, nations and states. In 'Another' we are talking about a small similar team, crazy on its exclusivity so that sluggish treatment and discrimination in it smoothly, but logically, go into a violent stage of manic murders, presumably ' Other' But in the anime it is emphasized that this team cursed itself, caused evil itself - not wanting to accept reality, he went into the illusory world, invented collective insanity for himself, and got stuck in it. At the same time, on the part of the collective, such an obsession with evil does not look at all evil - it is ' rational' and ' logical' for the sake of ' the common good' recognizes people ' non-existent' and then hunts them. That’s the real, everyday, not mystical horror, that’s the strong point of the plot 'Another'. Although, formally, the story is about another, but quite transparently ridiculed irrational and stupid, and often cruel, rules and rituals that establish within a closed group, to which you need to adapt in order not to fall out of the team 39.
But again, the bad. Let's return to the official plot - no other emotions except a smile (which is somehow not good for ' horror'), can not cause the illogical behavior of the main character, who only after all the murders, attempts on her and her friend, ' suddenly ' understands that you need to do something, or it will be bad: ) In this regard, she is ideally suited to the main character - the same hardheaded mind. Repel unmotivated bloody thrash in the last series (however, it is a common disease of youth & #39; horror & #39; which is the specifics of the genre), as well as the predicted finale. In general, ' the official plot' stupid and uninteresting, does not save even xenophobic overtones.
However, in moments of yet another realization of the meaninglessness of viewing 'Another' I was held back by the drawing of lighting and weather: the half of the teacher's face and the library's premises becoming brighter as the sun peeks out from behind the clouds; the lighting on the beach fading when the sun is behind the clouds; an overcast day; a dark room with eeriely beautiful dolls; a dusty old building... I’m not saying that this drawing is unique, but this is the first anime in which the transmission of lighting impressed me.
That’s how a good bad film came out in the end – banal, sometimes protracted and illogical, plot, flat characters and dialogue. But - an interesting context, fascinating transmission of lighting and good - atmosphere.

If you are dead, but miraculously resurrected. You're a non-resident.
Other, it's not just anime. It reflects the very spirit of Japanese culture and history. If the Death Note can be compared to Goethe's Faust and Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment. Tokyo Gul with Kafka's "Transformation." That story reminded me of Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King.
I remember when I looked at it, I was puzzled over this piece for a long time. That it's a detective or a distinctly Japanese Stephen King. The logic of the characters is not always clear. All this was more like a class of maniacs, lot or under the dome. The same King. But when I got into Japanese folklore. I understood why and where all this blood and violence came from.
The Japanese have a legend. If you've been seen dead at least once, you're dead. Even your family will treat you that way. Especially if people die next to you under unexplained circumstances. This means that he was brought back by evil spirits and not necessarily by Shinigami (there are many in Japanese folklore). Female fox, a good example of the deceased and became a werewolf in a new life.
Okay, it was just an anime thing. But they have a lot of stories where a person could just be killed for something. For entering another village or being caught with fish. Clinical death was generally considered something out of the ordinary. The Japanese believed that any contact with a dead person was suffering and misery for your family. Therefore, the body should find peace, and not stagger among the living. If you do not, your village and city will be in darkness and the gods will turn away from you.
In general, if you want to understand the essence of this anime. It's really interesting. Look for logic not in the actions of the characters, but in history and their culture. Then you'll understand.
One time a friend of mine said that in anime, 90 percent of the budget goes to boob animation. And there was nothing to argue with until my hands reached this series, for which (to my personal joy) this statement is not true. At the very beginning, the accent was placed once, and they did not sin again. Someone, of course, will notice, they say, the genre does not assume this. But look at the same cicadas or gulls: there, nevertheless, is present.
The second positive point for me is the absence of any pathos (which, in general, is also an amateur). Perhaps because there is no hotbed: the characters do not rant (on the topic and not) a lot, they act, which makes the plot quite rich.
26 years in school repeat the same scenario: in a certain class appears “extra” student, after which begins a series of deaths of schoolchildren and their relatives, while no one knows who is superfluous: no one can remember.
26 years. Year after year. Same thing. Should this particular story be different from the previous ones? Generally, no. Should this generation of students be different from the previous generation? Not either. The same frightened crowd of teenagers who don’t want to die. Here you are not up to their personal qualities, experiences, deep reasoning, love suffering and other things, no! This is not at all important here, for the main thing is their despair, fear and desire to survive at any cost.
They don’t need a charismatic leader. There is nowhere to lead everyone to salvation, and there is no one, for there can be no strong unity here by definition: absolutely anyone can be the culprit of the tragedy, in the end everyone will be for himself. There is no need for a smart person who, with the help of his guesses, would calculate the “extra” student: there is another way to solve this problem.
All of the above, which someone probably expected to find in this anime and didn’t find, would be really superfluous. In fact, I think that all this could be included, and the plot twisted, and stretch the series in two, three, but it would be ideologically different anime. As for me, what idea they wanted to show - that and showed, no more, no less.
Well, the drawing, yes, I liked the drawing.
I’ll mention a couple of things I didn’t like. The first is that it remains unclear to me why May has, so to speak, her super-power. The second is that in the last few episodes she tried to survive. She was passively doing it. I was hoping that this was part of her cunning plan to stop the nightmare, but alas.
Nevertheless,
Death cannot be defeated, it can only be postponed.
Anime is definitely for adults, especially for lovers of horror with a plot.
Everything begins quite simply, a new student of the 9th grade comes to the city and settle in a new school. Then he meets a strange girl who few people pay attention to. Who is she? Why don't people want to see it? What caused her injury?
As it turns out over class 9 'B' the curse hangs, almost like in the film ' Destination', it's just much more complicated. No one knows who or what is the cause of the curse. The intrigue itself begins with the end of 3 series. Then you want to know: 'How will it end?' And even the most attentive viewers will be able to impress the cause of the curse.
Excellently selected: musical accompaniment and details to the details (dolls, eyes, emotions). There are many intrigues, interesting and unusual deaths and memorable heroes.
Now about what I did not like: 1) the inadequacy of the actions of some characters in certain situations, I could still forgive the minor characters, but the main ones are sorry 'Net' 2) After viewing, the whole picture is not going to be collected, it does not give us any lessons or instructions, does not make us think about certain things simply by closing the chapter. (3) It is more interesting to follow the secondary characters than the main ones. Their characters and behavior are more understandable and their actions elicit more emotion.
Anime in general: Good, but with shortcomings. With an abundance of violent scenes and an unusual story. It is worth reading
Different.
Anime series produced by the studio P.A. Works Co, based on the manga of the same name, which, in turn, is based on the novel of the same name authored by Yukito Ayatsuji.
Unfortunately, the author of the original works did not take part in the creation of the anime adaptation, which naturally affected the quality of the final product.
“The Other” positions itself as a mystical thriller with elements of horror. And, you know, I'm sure that in the original works (manga, novel), it is, but here ... There's absolutely nothing here. This series does not cope with any task that it sets itself. The creators could not show either an interesting detective intrigue, or at least some frightening horror, nor, even more so, a simple, understandable story to the viewer. Honestly, they didn’t seem to know what they wanted to show. Thus, real anime is an overrated passerby that I would not recommend to anime lovers or people who were not previously familiar with Japanese animation. Why is that? Let's step by step.
Plot:
The plot tells about the school class 9-B, in which unexplained things happen. The fate of this class falls curse "dead" or, as it is also called, "extra student". This happened due to the event of the year 72, when one of the students of the class - Misaki Yomiyama - died. He died, but later allegedly became present in the classroom, which all the students agreed with, acknowledging his existence. But because of the presence in the class of “extra”, dead student, began to die and living and close to them. Since then, there has been one "dead" in the classroom every year. The pupils found opposition to this magic - in absentia to recognize any student from the class dead, thereby denying its existence and, as it were, freeing up a place in the world of the living for the dead. The conflict is based on the fact that a new person comes to the class and, not understanding the essence of what is happening, recognizes the once chosen "dead" - alive. The curse comes into force.
And everything I said above, you will hardly understand by the end of the series. The anime deliberately misleads us, and it would work if all the intrigue hadn't gone down to no by the middle of the series. The structure of history is absolutely torn and cut. It lacks details, interesting twists and turns, which, of course, should be characteristic of any thriller. It also does not cope with the horror genre, because bright scenes of death do not scare anyone. Scared by the unknown, powerlessness, helplessness – there is no such thing. The viewer is thrown from event to event, not a drop without going into the slightest explanation. The whole work is cracking at the seams: from script holes and logical inconsistencies to, sometimes, banal blunders. It does not answer the simplest questions, but it tries to complicate everything as much as possible in order to deceive the viewer. The essence of the story we have to learn from the pieces of dialogue characters, which are written disgustingly. And speaking of characters...
Characters.
And here comes the main problem of the series. He tried to tell us the story through his characters, while writing down elementary clumsy, stupid, without any motivation, heroes. Yes, there is not a single, well-disclosed, interesting character. The main character of Misaki May may seem interesting, but only until the middle of the series, while there is some mystery and ambiguity. Further development such a charismatic person with an eye patch does not receive. Moreover, seeing the denouement of this project, you will understand how stupid and unmotivated she will be.
The second character through which we actually get acquainted with the plot is Koichi Sakakibara. A typical schoolboy with no interesting features. He simply moves from location to location, where he explained something, introducing the viewer, thus, to the essence of what is happening. He does not elicit interest, empathy, he is obviously an empty character. Unlike Misaki, who still showed some hope, Koichi Sakakibara does not receive any development, but simply observes what is happening from beginning to end.
Secondary characters are not worth mentioning. They have standard, clichéd characters that have little impact on the overall story. But they are very stupid, hysterical and, for the most part, indifferent to what is happening.
The final series shows us how much the creators did not care about their heroes. Not finding enough reasons for the “epic” scenes, they simply make heroes of hysterical maniacs. Again, without any objective reason.
Technical issues.
Where, if not in horror thrillers, the atmosphere matters. The atmosphere is frightening, gloomy, intriguing, forcing blood to freeze in the veins, and at the same time the desire, shining with extreme curiosity, to peer into the dangerous darkness. It is created with the help of details of the world of our heroes, as well as the visual and musical range. "Another" doesn't have that either. The image, while trying to be gloomy, looks poor anyway. At the beginning, the series is very trying to get into horror, somewhere copying the famous “Silent Hill”, but it comes out scantly, and even then, with the help of sound accompaniment, rather than any visual solutions. But don’t worry, by the 6th series, it won’t happen. What the claimed product really looks like is "Destination Point." And in its worst manifestation (the last parts), where all the deaths are simply stretched and made only for the sake of a dramatic picture. But that’s what Destination is all about – spectacular senseless deaths. Alas, in this anime, the efforts of the authors and animators went to scenes designed for the effect, and a myriad of deaths. Puddles of blood and cruelty appear to the viewer, and each death is more and more catchy, which eventually ends in mass murder. They try to scare you, but unfortunately, very unsuccessfully. Perhaps the most impressionable takes a creep from the sight of blood or severed limbs, but, I hasten to disappoint you, “Other” is not horror. The above-mentioned Silent Hil is a horror. James Wan’s “Spell” is horror, and even “Saw” will scare you with its despair more than this anime product, which positions itself as a mystical thriller, but in fact is only a meaningless bloody slasher.
Result.
I don’t know by what criteria past reviewers could so appreciate this anime. I don’t understand how such a show could get such impressive ratings. You can watch the first series 4 and the last. I can say with confidence that you will not lose any of the established history.
An empty product that wants to appear more complex than it really is. Cardboard, uninteresting heroes, a ragged script, with a categorically insane denouement and the necessary visual missing.
The anime series "Other" can only deceive the viewer, in the hope that he will be delighted with the deception. But no. There is only regret about the time spent.
When you sit down to watch something like this, something romantic immediately pops up in your head. And the cursor immediately reaches for the tab closure button, because romance in the anime is already saturated. But still, sometimes it is worth giving some titles a chance so that they reveal themselves deeper and show that they are not romantic.
That's what happens with sabja. Already opening shots before the intro are quite tuned to some mysticism with a fair share of Guro. This is not the case in the first series.
Briefly about the story.
We are thrown into the small Japanese town of Yomiyama (pardon my Japanese, I may be wrong) in the skin of the protagonist Koichi Sakakibar. He is in hospital suffering an acute attack of pneumothorax. He was visited by three students, Kozami Tomohiko, Yukari Sakuragi and Izumi Akazawa. Each of them represents one of the pillars of the class 3-3 of Northern High School, where he threw in the distribution of our hero. Goats and Yukari elders from the female and male part of the class (yes, don’t be surprised, in Japan it is probably so), and Izumi is the head of some “countermeasures”. However, what are these measures and against which no one bothers to explain it.
After that, there is a scene in the elevator, during which we first meet the second main protagonist of this series, Mei Misaki. She walks around with an eye patch, which has probably become such an anime stamp, and behaves in general strangely, going to the hospital morgue. But what is the meaning of this again remains behind the scenes.
After that, our GG gets directly to school, where he lives, meets new friends and gradually gets closer to May. But the behavior of the class shows that Koichi is clearly making a mistake.
And then the carousel twists so famously that continuing the story does not avoid important spoilers. Better to see everything yourself. But to make it easier for you to understand and accept the plot, then: Take a good basis for various anime about the school, flavor it with a considerable dose of mysticism and Gothic, add a little oppressive and pressing atmosphere, flavoring the entire resulting bouquet with “Destination Point”. Voila, you got the "Other."
Exxon
It's delicious. Especially for blood lovers. Ketchup in some moments will pour on you liters, delighting your inner maniac, who will ask for supplements. Add to this a simple connection with the aforementioned “destination”. The series does not hesitate to literally beat some deaths from various parts, slightly remaking them for themselves, but not making them less unrecognizable. But nevertheless, there are also many deaths that are original in themselves, and in their moment your face is wildly stretched from the realization that death occurred in such an unpredictable way.
What's the result?
The anime itself is short. Only 12 episodes that show the whole situation in the class 3-3 from the arrival of Koichi to the “end” of the +1 series, which is like a prologue to the whole series, while the number of the series is its own epilogue. It will open a few maps and solve a couple of questions. But the final twist and answer to the question Who is the dead and will make you cry out, “How?” This character?!
For you will have many options, but this one you will not notice.
Fans of confused plots, anime about school, but without romance, as well as fans of Destination and Guro in general, you will not be disappointed. The rest is better to pass by because the anime is an amateur.
I don’t know if that was the intention, but as I watched it, my inner voice kept saying, “You’re the worst detective in the world!” None of my guesses were ever confirmed. It's a shame.
Okay, now in order. A heavy opening screensaver is definitely a plus. The atmosphere of the series was well conveyed, the bloody fence was very impressive, and the creepy dolls complemented the picture well.
From the first series, there was intrigue. Mysterious girl from the morgue, hiding something classmates, no less suspicious teachers. The main character will not be easy... By the way, what was his name? Sakamika, Sabalisa, Sakabasa... I learned his name only in the sixth episode. And the old girl? Her name isn't even easy to write. And these are the names of the viewer constantly loaded! Of course, different countries and cultures, I understand this perfectly well, but the fact remains.
There's a lot to talk about. It is detailed, literally to the smallest detail. There are almost no white spots in history, which cannot but be pleased. In each episode, a small piece of the puzzle is given so that you can put together a full picture on your own. “Other” is not one of the gray horror films, where the answers lie on the surface, you will have to delve into every phrase in order not to miss an important key.
And finally, I want to note the excellent drawing of the surrounding world. Many authors do not attach much importance to such simple things as license plates on cars. In "Another" not only the numbers are read, but even car models are easily recognized. Noticing such small things is a great pleasure.
Two words as a result: a high-quality thriller in the best traditions of American cinema, will appeal even to viewers far from anime.

The boy Koichi (Japanese pronounce his name as ' Koechka', which causes laughter) moves from Tokyo to some province. He's in 9th grade. The class meets him with riddles and secrets. Especially bewildering Koechka is the presence of a student Misaki May, who has no eye and seems to be visually not perceived by anyone except Koechka.
All this is layered with a terrible and beautiful legend about the ghost of a student (at the beginning of the series it is a student, but then the translators changed their minds) and the ensuing sinister curse of total destruction of all who were lucky to get into the 9B class.
Let's start with the pros. Incredibly, fantastically beautiful drawing. I want to take each shot and put it on the desktop.
A distinctive feature is relative realism. First of all, this is expressed in the hair of the characters - they are all of ordinary color and shape. There are no incomprehensible green and blue swirls. There are no scenes characteristic of anime, when the background disappears and only the hero in a vacuum is seized by emotion. It looks like a movie.
Izumi Akazawa is delighted. Mainly because it looks like two drops of water like Ange, Butler’s sister from ' When the seagulls cry' But many others too. In general, the characters are pretty good.
Now the tar flows. The plot only keeps the first three or four episodes in suspense until Koichi understands the situation. And then - the same ' Destination ', only in profile. Fortunately, the cartoon is not long, only 12 episodes, so you do not have time to yawn much.
It's the final. No, it's kind of all there - distraught students, and carnage, and fire, and an unexpected answer to the main question. But only now the last two series cause for some reason not breathless and tears in the eyes, but hysterical laughter. When the chandelier fell, I almost fell, too. And when that guy came out from under her and... I won’t tell you, but it’s even funnier.
Totally. Very beautiful, but rather weak and absolutely not new in the plot relation cartoon.

Once upon a time there was a girl named Misaki. The surrounding souls in her did not want, but unfortunately, she mysteriously died. It shocked her classmates so much that they started acting like she was alive! This is where it all started...
In light of some circumstances, fifteen-year-old Koichi Sakakibara is forced to leave Tokyo and move to his relatives in a quiet and peaceful town. He lost his mother at a very early age, and his father always disappears on expeditions. Fortunately, in Yomiyama he is already waiting for his aunt Reiko, who became like a mother to him. Koichi is enrolled in class 3-3, where he is willingly accepted. The students are very friendly, even too friendly. In class 3-3, there are special rules that resemble some kind of sectarian fun. The most suspicious is that Koichi is kept in the dark, and even a strange girl named Misaki May, whose existence no one knows. Class 3-3 is considered a curse. There is definitely something behind all this. All would be fine, but class 3-3 is approaching a real nightmare. Will they be able to prevent the tragedy?
Literally from the beginning, the series attracts its mysticism. Mysterious and somewhat frightening melody, not quite clear to us set of frames, as well as the story of class 3-3, all this is very intriguing! However, there is no rapid development of events. On the contrary, everything develops slowly, which sometimes causes boredom. The next “normal student” is transferred to the next “normal school”, what could be more standard? Spectators of the genre “anime” – this is not surprising, because it is one of the most popular templates for this genre. However, "Another" gradually breaks down the notion of all this "standardity." The deeper the plot, the more mysteries, and there are no answers. The confusion is great, but do not worry! It's all ruminating.
"Another" impresses with its mysticism, saturation, and drama. Although the genre is to a large extent "horrors", I still can not say that in this genre anime succeeded. I assure you, it's even for the best. Sometimes it is boring, but this feeling quickly disappears, because from time to time the plot still sets its rhythm. Predictable - this anime is also not called. There are many tricky moments that can surprise the viewer.
Are we going to start looking for the dead?

Deciding to rest at leisure - followed the advice of a friend and looked at Another, which I have never regretted.
The story tells a story that dates back 26 years. A schoolgirl and her family died in tragic circumstances. The girl was smart, beautiful and liked absolutely everyone, so no one could come to terms with such an end. One day, one of her classmates declares that he sees her and that she is in class. So they learned, pretending that the girl is alive, and even in the graduation photo she appeared. And from the following year, under mysterious circumstances, students and their families began to die, who fell into this very class of 3-3. And here we are. The students have already worked out a strategy to neutralize the 3-3 curse, as our protagonist translates to them, and ruin all their plans for a happy end to the year. Now they all have to go through a lot to get to the truth, unravel the mystery of what is happening and find the Other. And the most important thing is to survive!
The mystical atmosphere, the detective elements, even found room for a romantic line. The plot, keeping until the end in suspense, the unexpected denouement and so beloved by me theme ' Destination' with mysterious deaths - in total they gave an excellent anime, which not only will not leave indifferent those who like thrillers, but also bring a lot of emotions to anyone who is not against mysticism. And the last 2 episodes you will watch just without stopping.
I'm not often impressed with such small anime. It's only 12 episodes, but how many of them! It did not have time to get bored and bored, there was no extra material, everything is strictly on the case. The ending is organic and does not cause complaints, although it leaves a couple of unresolved questions, but these sins of the writer can in principle close your eyes. Also knocked out of the style of this anime series opening and closing themes, but they can simply not watch. So
Baby masturbation and the killer is a gardener... and I explained why!
I'm sorry for being rude, but these kids could at least get away from the camera. And it started out very differently. I'm going to ask you, why do people value "other" so much? High rating, beautiful lines, fascinating plot, etc. What? Say it again? The answer is wrong anyway. But this is just a plot, which stretches like burnt rubber at three hundred degrees Fahrenheit. I do not want to put pressure on rudeness, but the rubber turned out to be quite durable ... and not at all tedious ... probably. The plot is fascinating from the first series. There is an intrigue, about a mysterious girl with a blindfold on her left eye, about a mysterious 9-B class, about the secret of past times. The situation is heating up due to the fact that we see the mystery through the eyes of the protagonist, who also does not understand anything and is trying to get to the truth. Is there a mysterious girl Misaki May or is it a hidden phenomenon? Why is she ignored and disliked by Koichi? Mysticism begins to take over and interest in its presence. Unfortunately, the plot ceases to be itself and slowly flows into "undercultativity" with a parody of visionary horrors.
Meat, thrash, and crazy. If this was emphasized, then I confess – it is weak . Watching students accuse each other of prophesying the "dead" and slit each other's throats, is that the ending? From the series 4-8 there is a break for the film "Destination Point", also a couple of sins from "Cicada", well, to put it mildly, the version of "Hell Girl". There is also a wide range of flaws, which is visible to the naked eye, in addition to empty conversations and clarification of relationships. For example, if we take the situation that this abomination is passed down from generation to generation of school, then it becomes strange, why the school will not be closed, this is first ... the police make a surprised appearance, if everyone already knows everything, this is second ... and they introduce children to excursions and country trips, with such a critically high mortality. This is Japan, they have it strictly. Apparently, everyone gets used to it and close their eyes to it ... No Book of studies on ocultatina there. Everyone can guess from school photos and tapes that don't make much sense. But everyone is amazed at her, as if they understood the essence of the universe. The subject of dolls is not disclosed at all, although I was most intrigued. In ordinary reasoning, there is no logic in principle, and when everyone began to point a finger at each other and squeeze the handle of the knife ... what the hell?!
I will not write any further, I have devoted too many words... in short, judge for yourself.
I hardly watch anime, but this series was recommended to me by my friend, and I became interested in the plot and genre (horror in animation is something unusual). At first, I was rather skeptical of Ina, but the series captivated me from the first episode to the very end.
Plot
The story we are told at first resembles an urban legend - a mysterious curse imposed on the 9B class of a local high school, killing students with ridiculous accidents every month. By the way, the latter is related ' Other' with 'Point of Destination' but if 'Point' is a typical slasher, the Other is a thing of a different genre, a kind of mystical-psychological thriller (still not a horror, as indicated in the description). The plot itself is presented by the screenwriter masterfully, not drawn out and with proper tension. Pleasant and surprising departure from the standard cliches of the genre (at the same time, the authors pretend that the stamp will be beaten traditionally), there are really unexpected turns of the plot, and the intrigue is held to the end, forcing the viewer to constantly think and time after time change their assumptions. In general, an interesting and unpredictable plot is the strength of the series, which, however, is rare.
Characters
The main character, Koichi Sakakibara, looks like an ordinary schoolboy, generally sociable and friendly, without any unusual or memorable features, but two things make him empathize - he behaves stupidly and does not commit rash acts. For the horror genre, this is really unusual and delights the viewer.
The main character, Mei Misaki is the complete opposite of Koichi, a social phobic girl who diligently hides her emotions (such in the anime are called kudere). A wonderful drawing, a thoughtful character and the mystery supported by the plot create a memorable and rather unusual image of the character, and her relationship with Koichi brings a bit of romance to the gloomy atmosphere of the series.
Problems
In the course of the main thread of the plot in the series, among other things, philosophical themes of death and loneliness are raised, the characters travel through the soullessness of our high-tech society. There are also cultural references, for example, the characters talk about the perception of the world, casually mentioning the painting by Edward Munch & #39; Scream & #39;. In general, many character quotes can make the viewer think.
Atmosphere
Another strength 'Other' The constant contrasts of cruel scenes of death and the reflection of the characters with their attempts to have fun and enjoy life create a dark and pressing atmosphere that hangs over the viewer until the end. Extremely contribute to the creation of such an impression opening, soundtrack and visual style of the series.
Result
Very addictive, intriguing, dark and atmospheric mystical detective thriller with a share of horror and dark romance, which is unlikely to leave you indifferent.
Half the ball shoot for incomprehensible to me the actions of some characters and a somewhat blurred ending.
9.5 out of 10
Despite the fact that I watched the whole series in almost a day and ended the night, when the house was already asleep, and even the lantern outside the window went out, it was not scary that someone would sneak into your room. Although no, I confess, the first two minutes were a little scary, but after a few good arguments that nothing can happen to me (like ' ... I am not in Japan). . . ' or '... there are no curses in my school. . .'), I fell asleep as usual.
As is often the case with the Japanese, the plot is somewhat confusing, that immediately you do not really understand what they want to explain to you. The reasons for what is happening are not clear and many things remain in the dark. The ingenuity of the main character leaves much to be desired, which cannot be said about his nobility. The very idea is like the idea invented by one of the teenagers sitting by the campfire in the dead of night: every month someone will die. . But still to look at the death of children because of what curse is quite unpleasant and sad.
Well-designed sounds that literally drag the viewer into the anime. I loved both songs at the beginning and end of the series. The production is very successful, because it becomes interesting immediately, despite the fact that there was no action, only hints and a charming atmosphere. Looking at beautiful dolls involuntarily recalled 'Ghost in Shell: Innocence', it seemed that they were about to come to life.
For those who are not afraid of blood and curses, I recommend you to watch.

How grateful I am for this anime! And there are two reasons for that. First of all, it’s a really great cartoon with a great plot. And secondly, thanks to the Other, I was able to finish off the City Hunter drama. Because in two terribly boring hours of this drama, I rewarded myself with a 20-minute episode of The Other. So I enjoyed every second. I liked all the characters. This wonderful sinister atmosphere. A lot of what has been shown is actually not as it seems even more interesting. The ending was great!
Of course I recommend watching. And it is advisable to watch all the series at once so that you stay in this atmosphere and do not interrupt it with ordinaryity.
I do not put the highest score, only for one reason, "Death Note" for me is still at an unattainable height.

Very good anime for those who are looking for something new and interesting. However, to understand the actions of the heroes, and in general the essence of what is happening, it is necessary to move the convolutions well. (To be honest, I only understood everything from the second view.) The plot is very confusing, the end is almost impossible to predict. But everything in order:
It would seem that in the beginning nothing special. He moves from Tokyo to a smaller city because of his father’s work in India. However, gradually the plot begins to develop at a rapid pace. At times, it seemed to me that the creators of the anime tried to cram too many events into each episode. But the fact that the anime is not drawn out is definitely PLUS.
"How do you break the curse?"
"Who's dead?"
In my opinion, these are two key questions of anime. Answering one question without answering another is useless. It was only after the former graduate helped them with information that May's knowledge of who the "dead man" was really valuable.
Drawing: In my opinion, drawing is a matter of taste, and I personally liked the drawing. The main characters have very nice faces. The draftsmen did not stint on secondary characters, which cannot but rejoice.
Characteristics:
Koichi: Nice, kind guy, creative person. It gives the impression of a balanced, unobtrusive person. As a guy, he was very friendly, but in my opinion, sometimes he was unnecessarily intrusive. I mean his acquaintance and communication with MA. To the point where he started watching her. Of course, I understand that the new, incomprehensible, is very much in my head, but, in my opinion, he overdid it.
May: In the very first episode, after the elevator episode, her character reminded me of Evangelion's Ianami Ray: a quiet voice, an indifferent tone. But in the subsequent series, her character began to be more revealed. Family problems, school events, the death of her sister and the appointment of a “non-existent” played a significant role in her behavior. She was a recluse, but her friendship with Koichi made her reveal the bright side. It was interesting to watch their friendship develop.
The anime turned out very interesting. At first it may seem confusing, but in the end everything will fall into place. I recommend everyone to watch this anime!
Perhaps, this anime can freely compete with any even the most frightening horror film, since the number of victims here clearly exceeds all expectations. And it seems – there must be mysticism, and no – blood and sophisticated methods of murder do their job, confidently assigning the appropriate rating – this is not for children.
Let the viewer not be misled by characters with cute faces – very, very soon everything that happens on the screen will be covered with red paint. The story is fascinating from the very beginning, however, the synopsis already says about it. Indeed, it is time to get confused: a girl named Misaki, who died 26 years ago, was unanimously recognized by all schoolchildren as alive, which irrefutably leads to one fact - it is dangerous to joke with the world of the dead, which neither the students nor the young Koichi Sakakibara, having moved to a new school, did not know. Koichi’s age is a mysterious girl with a blindfold on her left eye, in the first series she informs her future classmate that her name is Misaki Mei, which, of course, does not give anything to Koichi himself at first, but an interested viewer, already stumbled upon some conclusions, smugly thinks that everything is a mystery solved and we must wait for what the dead Misaki Mei will do with the unfortunate guy. Not everything is so simple – otherwise, the series would not stretch into twelve episodes.
However, I must admit: I really expected something too pretentious and intricate that only the Japanese can come up with, but by the end of the sixth series, the story quickly resolved and completely summed up, which, to my surprise, was not full of oddities. Rather, on the contrary, everything is clear and clear, as if we are facing an ordinary horror movie (adjusted for the series), in which there is nothing supernatural. I was even slightly stunned that the anime was so reminiscent of the movie. I think it was very successful.
The anime horror genre isn't much. Everyone is used to seeing the kawayka faces of the characters of Japanese animation in romantic or comedic things, and therefore the creators of such “Other” always face a difficult task: how to show the audience the seriousness of what is happening? After all, sometimes only the blood or death of heroes are not good, and then the plot comes into play. If he is not serious and does not differ in something truly fascinating, no viewer's faces at the screens will not keep (unless memorable heroes, who in fact, come up with oh how difficult), and the genre of "horrors" will turn into the genre of "something stuff" and all efforts will be in vain. Obviously, to come up with a plot that even in the animated version will look amazing - you need to be a genius.
To spread about the plot, as such, I will not - otherwise too many interesting moments will open, and about the implementation and not worth talking - with a serious approach to filming and the creation turns serious. The most curious, perhaps, the finale - while you understand what and where it comes from, then suddenly there are new circumstances that force you to delve deeper into the mysterious and frightening world of the "Other".
I haven't read the original, but now I think it's worth it. In addition, recently the world saw the film “Other”, which I also had no opportunity to meet. But if it’s half as interesting as anime, I’ll put Ayatsuji Yukito on my list of favorite authors. I hope that will be the case.
15-year-old Koichi Sakakibara because of his father’s work came from Tokyo to the small town of Yomiyama to his relatives. There is no city bustle in this outback, and almost everyone knows each other. Of course, as often happens, in such depths hover various mystical stories and other horror stories. Our hero before the beginning of school gets to the hospital because of pneumothorax. However, Koichi is quickly discharged. In the hospital, he meets a strange girl with a mysterious blindfold on her left eye and dressed in the uniform of the school where he will study, and in her hands she has a frighteningly realistic doll. Mystical events will gain momentum the moment Koichi-kun enters school and meets this girl again. In school, no one notices it, it simply does not exist for students. Is it a ghost or just an outcast? After talking to Misaki Mei, Koichi-kun learns the horror stories of the local school even more. It turns out that Koichi and Misaki’s B-class is cursed, and every year his students and their loved ones suffer mysterious deaths. Will there be a similar horror this year?
“Another” is a representative of an extremely rare genre in anime – horror. Why is the genre rare? Because it has an age limit of +17, and Japanese animation is mainly designed for teenage audiences. However, the more valuable “Another” that stands out from the gray mass of titles. In addition to the fact that anime belongs to a rare genre, it is also done very qualitatively. Moreover, it has a real East Asian mystical flavor. Anyone who has seen "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" and "Shiki" will know what I'm talking about.
Perhaps Koichi-kun does not have a collective image of an ordinary Japanese schoolboy, but his portrait is very similar to the ideal boy. This is also a very common phenomenon, and it is impossible to call this character original. Another thing is Misaki’s heroine: she is fresh in her own way, and it is almost impossible to find similar characters in the image of her. Her character is not very original, but also not banal: the label of Yandere, tsundera or kuder on her can not hang. However, our heroine has a lot in common with the couder, but she is more open and not silent in relation to the main character in contrast to the traditional idea of the couder character. Therefore, it is safe to say that Misaki is quite self-sufficient and interesting character. It is a little sad that the secondary characters do not indulge in their special originality in terms of character and image of the viewer. However, for a short 12-series timekeeping, they are revealed to the viewer with dignity. We need to talk about character design. Here is the design juicy and modern, as well as the drawing itself.
The plot is brilliantly harmonious: easy to perceive and at the same time strong in content. It keeps its viewer near the screen in tension and very quickly immerses in its world - the viewer is imbued with its atmosphere and looks at the story with great interest. I don't know about you, but I watched all 12 episodes in one night. The plot does not overload its viewer with excessive information, there is no hanging here due to understatement. Surprisingly balanced and strong plot, presenting gradually new variations: for 12 episodes, the viewer will see not only the school and the hospital, but also the sea and summer camp - and this is not a template series, as in seasonal soap boxes. A carefully thought-out storyline with a relatively small number of characters allows you to fully progressively reveal all your secrets to your viewer to minimize questions after watching. However, if you think about it, something remains under the cover of secrecy. First, who specifically put the curse on the class? Second, what exactly happened 26 years ago, and also why did an evil grandmother chase the kids, trying to kill them? However, this series is not a detective, but horror and therefore unsolved questions are within the limits of permissible for such a case. The fear of man is the fear of the unknown.
The series fully justifies its genre tags. Just as horrors are supposed to be – lots of murders, like “destination” – where an accident causes a ridiculous or horrific death. It’s not often in anime that you see cute characters killing each other with crazy facial expressions running around with a crowbar in their hand. In addition to the powerful atmosphere in the series there is also a strong emotional background. Life characters with well-written emotions: on their face you can easily distinguish a smile from a grin in one moment. In other words, emotions are readable and thank you, of course, to the animators from the judge. The boys have done a wonderful job.
The unique atmosphere is largely achieved due to high-quality technical content: drawing and stylistics in this series is simply the highest level. The character design is not banal and stylistically modern. The background is colorful and surprisingly well saturated - every frame is a work of art. Even more aesthetic pleasure the viewer will get from the work - if you look in BD quality. My advice is to watch the anime exclusively in BD format. Many scenes are redrawn and more realistic than the TV version.
This is a really high-quality anime, there are no cliches, stereotypes, clichés. This is a high-quality and interesting work from a series of horrors. Such creations in the world of anime are rare today. This title can be somewhat weaker than “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni” and “Shiki”: the series is smaller than theirs, and the degree of cruelty and madness is lower. However, the general status of "Another" with them can be put in a row. Ultimately, this is an anime from the top category, which over time will become the same cult creation. For more effect, watch the title late at night in order to tickle your nerves. Thank you for your attention and of course good night!
Haven't you heard of it?
Then choose a darker evening, a more terrible storm, and the blanket is warmer (you should tremble with fear, not from cold), and listen:
A long time ago... How long ago your mothers went to school? It happened then...
But what happened, no one really remembers. But something scary. And someone died. Maybe even a few people. Now you don’t really understand, something strange is happening with the lists, and with photos of past issues.
And since then, one class has been cursed. Don't let God get in there! And if you do, you better follow the rules, otherwise. ..
'The Other' this is a very special experience. Not just a curse story, not just a slasher or a detective story. This is all at once, and in addition - a school drama and just a fascinating and exciting story, perfectly fit in 12 episodes. Music and drawing perfectly convey the desired atmosphere.
It is interesting from the first to the last minute.
And when it’s over, you’ll be left alone with the quick beats of your own heart and endless questions.
In 2000, director James Wong released the thriller “Destination Point”, where for unknown reasons, teenagers who escaped at the last minute from death died. The foundation of the anime series "Another" is built on the same soil, only with a more confusing plot. There is no connection between these two paintings, there is only a similarity in the ability to elegantly show the process of death of one or another participant. I don’t remember seeing a good thriller from the time of Cicada... but the fruitful year of 2012 is breaking all records for new products. One of them is a horror story with an intricate plot and a good drawing "Other".
In a quiet town, Yomiyama died for unknown reasons. Class 3-3 after her death could not come to terms with Misaki's fate. But one day a classmate saw her at the desk. Since then, everyone has believed in the existence of a classmate. But the students who attracted the dead to the living world began to die, the same fate befell their relatives. A few years later, a way was invented to prevent death, but as it turned out, it was only a false hope.
In the hospital room, Koichi Sakikabara meets his classmates, he is a new student of grade 3-3, but in what happened he is not familiarized, but even more confused. From the first days of school, the class is hostile to any attempt by Koichi to find out the truth, as well as to the strange girl with an eye patch. But Koichi, who knows nothing, begins the conversation with Misaki Mei, and the curse takes effect.
The colorful "opening" of the series focuses on full-length dolls and creepy places, but their meaning is not directly related to the plot. The musical design, to be honest, is a great ending, but the beginning is mediocre. But the drawing and the overall depressing atmosphere is excellent. The plot of the series is based on a murder with strange circumstances, which turns into a curse. The course of events is very confusing, which attracts the viewer. The only thing I shoot two balls for is the ending, it was not fully thought out and even predictable. But 13 series with a branch of the plot, just explains all the troubles associated with the main plot. The overall impressions of the tape are positive, although giving the genre the name “horror” the language does not turn. This is more of a thriller with elements of mysticism, detective, and the presence of many bloody scenes. As practice shows, the studio that gave us “Angel Rhythms” is able to work fruitfully and produce very interesting projects. That’s why I’m a big eight and thank you.
If we consider the genre as “mysticism”, here I saw it only in small quantities. Yeah, it's a gloomy atmosphere. Yes, a mystery of years gone by, covered in darkness. Yes, many people died prematurely, and a good half of them “went away” thanks to the assistance of others. What about looking at our world? A policeman who had “balls for rollers” shot shop visitors. A terrorist who attacked a Jewish school. There are many examples. That’s just the “horrors” full, in terms of how terrible sometimes the human soul, consciousness, and the things that come with it.
Let’s go back to the anime itself. As mentioned above, it is saturated with an anxious and oppressive atmosphere. Very high-quality and beautiful, and quite vitally shown feelings of the main characters. And I do not need to say about their insensitivity, that they did not suffer after the death of their comrades. If you kill everyone like that, you won't go crazy for long.
Also touching the dramatic moments in the picture, you wait for them, and they happen at the most unexpected moment. The pet, when viewing, also made “goosebumps on the skin” a couple of times, when from under the blankets stretching like “JAYOOOOOOO!”
Dolls deserve special attention. From the first episodes they are shown to us, and you think that they will play some important role in the narrative. But in fact, they only add to the atmosphere, but no more. But still, the creator of these dolls clearly put his soul into them, although not all of them were completed... although maybe a one-armed doll, it is necessary?
If we talk about the last series, then I agree with those who believe that the characters behaved quite naturally. If you can call it natural, what happened?
Yes, many still because of the experience of the death of loved ones and relatives, the roof was ripped off, and many of them, trying to find salvation or justice, went to the other world.
One of the things I liked was May’s attitude to cell phones. But when they were not, or even had access to each other, people were always closer to each other. When you were a kid, you always knew where to find your friends if you called them at home and you heard, "He's walking." The children had more responsibility. They always wanted to come home at the time they agreed with their parents. “Mom, I’m going to spend the night/walk longer.”
I don’t even want to discuss this anime. The taste and color as they say.
There's a lot of understatement, but we don't need it. But still, if you expect that you will all be laid out on the shelves, then I hasten to disappoint you, you will have to think of many things yourself!
My verdict.
Who is dead? Until I found out the truth, I asked myself this question for a long time.
In my opinion, a good horror with a pinch of detective. The series keeps in suspense even when watching the first series, although it does not have such an action, it only acquaints us with the plot in detail - about the cursed class 9 "B".
Class 9 "B" - a group of people doomed to walk on the edge of a knife and looking for a way to avoid death.
It is striking the restraint of the characters and how they, aware of everything that is happening, try to fight fear.
Here there is no censorship, instead you will see a lot of blood, deaths and pain. The atmosphere of fear and expectation that something terrible will happen conveys not only excellent drawing and many details (for example, gothic porcelain dolls, old desk and much more), but also music, thanks to which this effect is obtained.
The intrigue is preserved to the very end, which deserves praise. And the series is made in such a way that step by step you approach the bitter truth.

The first impression that I had while watching is that before us the work is a mixture of “When Cicadas Cry” and “The Dead”. We will talk about a series of mysterious deaths that wind around the students of 9B.
Yes, the plot is really intriguing. In the middle of the series, there was an animal, primal fear, which I had previously felt only in season 1 of the above mentioned Cicadas. It feels good, I would never regret it. The whole story revolves around the ill-fated 9B and a certain legend that had its origin in the distant 1972 year, when the students of this class did not accept the death of their classmate and continued to live as if he was still alive, and moreover – also goes to school with them, studies and lives an ordinary class life. This “madness” was not just about the students, even the rector of the school helped. That's where it starts. By their careless act, the disciples opened the way to the realm of the dead, thereby bringing upon themselves a curse - every month of each subsequent year someone: whether the student or his blood relative died.
So in 1998, 26 years have passed since that day. The curse is still alive, but during this time the disciples created a kind of superstitious ritual, allegedly helping to avoid an unhappy fate. But this year the curse could not be avoided. Therefore, students, creating a mask “all is well” for their parents and loved ones, trying to find a way to stop everything. And how it happened – I will not tell, it goes beyond the review. It is better to see all this yourself, I have provided a brief introduction, which will not almost spoil the viewing and will not open the veil of the mystery of “Other”.
Drawing is an honest word, I enjoyed it. Everything is so colorful, realistic (landscapes of nature in general at a height) and high-quality, which even raises doubts - and whether we are watching animation, or before us a real feature film? So now anime went, however, this is a positive trend, no matter how twisted.
The atmosphere is created by very precisely selected music and skill of Seyu actors. OST is also above all praise: nowhere too much, everywhere guessed everything – so briefly and succinctly we can say about those melodies that will enhance our emotions while watching. PS – However, I did not like ED\OP with everything, but this is my opinion, I do not impose it on anyone. They have their own charm, unfortunately, not charming me.
The images and characters of the main characters, which is rarely seen in horrors, are revealed in detail, and I will not be afraid of this word - completely. Neither the mysterious behavior of Mei Misaki, nor the mysterious amnesia of Koichi Sakahibara, remains unclear. By the way, I think the ending for many was unexpected, but logical and fits into the plot. The emphasis is made on how we sometimes did not notice one little thing that became key and connected ends with ends.
Yeah, that anime is worth watching. Unfortunately for me, it’s not the type that keeps going around giving food for thought and philosophizing, but it doesn’t get bad.
A worthy work, woven from such controversial genres as Horror and Romance, seasoned with notes of Comedy and Detective.
I would advise fans to watch the above genres - look - you will not regret. I certainly didn't regret it.
