My first acquaintance with this cartoon passed after reading the literary original twice, and yet, left pleasant nostalgic and childishly kind emotions. More than a modest duration is forced to leave behind the scenes two dozen interesting situations and hours of dialogue, but all the main milestones of history are carefully preserved and in general the story is very clear for a person, especially a child who is not familiar with the work of Jules Verne. Such an option of immersion in the worlds of the cult author can be a good impetus to reading.
The plot of the cartoon to a lesser extent than the novel depends on the time frame and the relevance of such a trip from the middle of the XIX, remains high and leaves a sense of real adventure. The journey of the main characters definitely goes beyond the study of underground voids. As I mentioned above, it is perfect for the younger generation for educational purposes. At the same time, it is simply incorrect to compare the project with modern animated hits. Visually, what is happening is more like classic drawn cartoons and may not appeal to sophisticated modern cinema viewers.
It is very symbolic that the painting was created in France. To be more precise, this is a French cartoon based on the adaptation of the work of a French author about the trip of Germans to Iceland. The unassuming, but rather high-quality level of production leaves a feeling of soulfulness - you can feel the time and effort of people responsible for different stages of creating this story. It is also suitable for family viewing. The main thing is not to go along with prejudice and trust this adventure is only three-quarters of an hour long.
